Comfortable modern cottage in a sheltered garden with its own streamfront. In a quiet suburban setting, 10 minutes walk to Otaki Beach, our bach has generous outdoor living areas looking over the Waitohu Stream and onto a reserve. We chose it as our retreat because it is warm, private and sheltered from coastal winds, while still within the sound of the sea. For winter nights there's a woodburner and firewood. It's casual but tidy, fully furnished, and equipped as we would hope to find a bach we rent.
From the bach you'll be able to visit Otaki's outlet stores, explore the Tararuas, or take the rowboat for a lazy row down the stream to the beautiful, wide north end of Otaki Beach.
Special conditions:
Most suited to a couple or small family (without toddlers, because of the stream), but additional guests can be catered for at $20 per person.

Rata St is a well appointed two bedroom property at Otaki Beach, on a high elevated section with big views from a deck that wraps around the property. At the front are awesome sea views and at the rear are great views towards the Tararua hills and Otaki Forks. This property will suit a couple, or two couples, who want a relaxing beach holiday.

The property has been recently renovated and is well appointed with a new kitchen. There is a big TV with fast fibre internet and Chromecast for Netflix etc. The house is warm in winter with a firebox in the living room and lots of dry wood.

Please note that to keep costs down for our guests, linen is not included. If you are an international traveller without linen, please ask and we can often make arrangements for you.

The Beach is just across the road. We have a outdoor shower for when you come back from a swim. The Surf Club is just down a bit, so you will be safe to swim in between the flags in summer.

We have a big Shade Sail on our huge deck for those who cant be in the sun.

Free Wifi, we have Chrome casting so you can watch anything from your devices. Also Netflix, Lightbox and TV One on Demand.

It is drenched with sunshine, with an enormous deck and flat grassy area to relax and unwind. Here you can enjoy an afternoon BBQ or cosy up beside the fire and watch the flames.

It is just a two minute walk to the nearest convenience store where you can get Fish and Chips, or two minutes to a great coffee shop. With home made food.

The Otaki township is just a few minutes drive and here you will find everything you need, including; Outlet Shops, Cafes, Restaurants, and Supermarkets.

Otaki is the perfect escape, with its quaint shops and cute cafes and restaurants. Yet it's still only 1 hours drive from Wellington!

Our house is perfectly located, one street back from the beach and just a 5 minute drive from the main shops. At the end of our street you'll also find a convenience store. Our house is well spaced and split over two levels. Upstairs has two balconies both with sliding doors, allowing you to soak up the views over the Kapiti coast or at the rear with a BBQ looking over the wetlands.
Upstairs is the main living area with the kitchen, dining room and lounge (Tv with freeview and DVD). There's also the master queen bedroom and bathroom. Downstairs has a large games room (perfect for that odd rainy day) with a Tv (freeview and DVD) and sofa which doubles as the sofa bed. There are the two bedrooms, twin (1 single, 1 king single) and the queen, a toilet and shower and the mudroom with a washing machine. There is plenty of outdoor space at the rear with access to Waitohu stream, perfect for whitebaiting (small children must be supervised as it's not fenced). We have a kayak and life jackets, ideal for the stream or a small walk to the beach!

For your convenience all linen and towels are provided.

Our original Health camp road farm house is warm and cosy and just a short walk to Otaki beach.
The house features a fireplace, Air conditioning, 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, 2 toilets and two living areas.
The kitchen is well equipped with all your basic appliances including an electric jug/kettle, toaster, rice cooker and stick wizz. It also has a freestanding oven, a dishwasher and large fridge freezer. We also have a children's high chair available. There is a seperate laundry which you are welcome to use.

The house has 2x queen beds, a bunk bed and a cot, plus an additional portacot and fold out sofa bed in the conservatory.
Accommodating up to 6 people plus 2 infants.
Please note the bathroom in this house is small so keep this in mind when booking for a large group. However there are two toilets.

Relax in the sunny lounge / conservatory with a book, while the children enjoy our selection of games and toys. Or soak up the sun out on the lawn where we have an outdoor table and chairs ready for you to relax. The outdoor area is family and pet friendly and is fully fenced. There is also a playground a couple of hundred metres away around the corner and Otaki beach store where you can pick up some fish and chips or enjoy an ice cream on your walk home from the beach.
With our full office set up you can work from home (but at the beach). Making this the perfect work life balance getaway

Pets Policy:
The property is fully fenced.
We know how important it can be to have your pet join you on holiday. It's just not the same without them. We are happy to accept pets with prior approval. There is a pet fee of $30.
Please let us know when you book if you plan on bringing a pet or you maybe refused at check in.
There are spare dog bowls, pet towels, one medium dog bed and a bucket in the laundry for your pets use. Please do not use the kitchen crockery for your pets.
Please keep pets off the beds and furniture. Thank you

Smoking Policy:
Smoking is allowed OUTSIDE only, please dispose of your butts sensibly in the Paua shells. Please do not smoke in the house. If it is found that you have been smoking an extra cleaning fee will be added to your booking.

We are sustainability focused and offer a 4 way waste system. Including a compost bin, Recycling, soft plastics and rubbish. Plus sort your rubbish as best you can as we don't pay for wheelie bin pick up due to not always being able to put it out every fortnight. The bins are located behind the white gate beside the garage.
