Longshore is a sprawling beach house with great indoor-outdoor flow, directly adjacent to the brilliant Waikanae beach. Eight generous bedrooms accommodate 21 guests in up to 18 quality beds, and there are 3 additional mattresses for children.

We have flexible bed configurations to suit families, singles and conferences etc. Most of our beds are superkings that can be split into two long singles on request. (Please ignore the summary bed descriptions from Bookabach - they don't have options to show superkings or long singles! Just click the blue "See all rooms and beds details" link in the "Rooms and beds section" above and you'll be able to see the precise options.)

This big house really will accommodate large groups, without compromise. By day, soak up the sun on the beachfront decks and lawns. Play tennis or swim in the heated outdoor pool (12-September - 30 April), then enjoy a BBQ lunch at the long table in the courtyard. In the evening, enjoy a pre-dinner drink and watch the sunset from the mezzanine Kapiti room, then share dinner with friends or family around the huge dining table at the heart of the house. Relax in the spacious lounge with Sky TV, or watch the night sky from the big spa pool. In the morning, breakfast in the kitchen diner with wood burner or on the sunny decks, then step onto the beach to swim, walk, play or relax.

Children will love the easy access to the beach for swimming or boogie-boarding etc. The outdoor fort and selection of toys will keep little ones amused. Older kids will relish the private first floor "crash pad" (bedroom 7) and the big trampoline. The rumpus room suits all ages, with table tennis, foosball, darts, pool table, etc - no rainy-day blues for anyone!

Longshore is a perfect venue for corporate retreats or small conferences. The huge dining table doubles as a spacious boardroom table for 16 and can also be split into 3 tables of 8. The dining room / conference room has a 65 inch smart TV for presentations. There are multiple breakout rooms and there's unlimited WiFi. After the work’s done, your team can swim, beach-walk, play tennis, let off steam in the rumpus room or relax in the spa pool.

Waikanae, central to Kapiti's many attractions, is 40 minutes from Wellington by car or 60 minutes by frequent train with connecting bus to the Beach. Longshore has ample secure car parking and a bus stop a minute from the door.

Maximum overnight guests: 24. The base rental covers the first 8 guests; per-guest charges apply thereafter. A bond is usually required. Smoking outside only. Please discuss proposals for special events with the owners.

The minimum rental period may be negotiable - please enquire. (We seldom accept one-night hires due to the cost of setting up and cleaning the property but will consider two-day one-night hires for mid-week business conferences. A supplement applies to 1-night hires, if accepted.)

The tennis court, trampoline and swimming pool are shared between Longshore, Seabreeze and the Tennis Pavilion. The swimming pool is heated from 12 September to the end of April each year and available 9am-6pm.

Sorry - we cannot accept any requests for noisy parties at Longshore due to the possibility of disturbance to our neighbours. Definitely no 21sts, stag or hen parties etc. Well-managed family celebrations including intergenerational groups are welcome. No noise that can disturb our neighbours after 10pm.

Absolute beachfront, this is the ultimate 60s Kiwi bach with breathtaking views direct over the beach to Kapiti. The front wall is all glass and frames Kapiti Island. The bach is close to Waimeha Stream and a short walk along the beach to the cafes, tennis court or local shops. This is a beautiful and funky spot. Our holiday home, known as Olde Beach Villa, is a modern 2-level beach house located on New Zealand's beautiful Kapiti Coast which is on the west coast of the Lower North Island. The property is just a stroll across the road and over the dunes to the expansive and pristine Waikanae Beach. Popular cafes, restaurants, bakery, convenience store, tennis courts and children’s playground are a few minutes walk, as well as an ‘Electric Vehicle Rapid charger’ convenient for those with electric vehicles.

This holiday home measures 170 m2 and has undergone extensive refurbishment and redecoration. The upstairs offers spacious open-plan living, ideal for entertaining, and features great indoor-out door flow. It comprises a large sitting-dining area, fully equipped kitchen, 3 double bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. There is a heat pump/air con unit in the main living area to keep guests cool in the summer and warm in the colder months.

Complementary high speed Wifi is provided throughout the property.

Up to 8 guests can be comfortably accommodated. The bed configuration is:
Bedroom 1, 1x queen bed - Bedroom 2, 1x double bed - Bedroom 3, 2x single bunk beds; i.e 4 beds in total

The Tennis Pavilion is a sunny and spacious bach just one house back from the beach and adjacent to Longshore beach house. Ranchsliders open onto an all-weather tennis court on one side and onto small private and open patio areas under timber pergolas on the other three sides.

The pavilion is well equipped, with leather couches, coffee table, dining table/chairs for 6 and smart TV, DVD and stereo at one end, and a kitchen along one side. There’s a splitable super-king bed. A small room-within-a-room has 2 pairs of built-in bunk beds. (Feather and down duvets and pillows are supplied; linen is optional.)

There's a compact bathroom with large shower, and a laundry in a cupboard. A ceiling heat pump will quietly keep you warm or cool.

The pavilion is easy-access, with car parking at the door and bus stop nearby. There’s a Weber barbecue and an outdoor picnic table on a small private patio, and a large shared trampoline is a few metres away.

Waikanae Beach is just a minute’s walk away, via a private right-of-way. There’s even a hot and cold outdoor shower to wash off the sand and sea salt!

Guests have access to the shared heated outdoor swimming pool at Seabreeze next door (heated mid Sept - 30 April) and the Pavilion has its own private mini-spa pool.

The Tennis Pavilion is suitable for a family of one or two adults and up to four children. It's ideal for a couple wanting to sharpen their tennis skills, parents coaching their children, or a family simply wishing to enjoy tennis, swimming, beach walks and local sightseeing. It's a great base from which to enjoy Kapiti’s many attractions including beaches, bush walks, restaurants, shopping and museums.

Waikanae is 45 minutes from Wellington by car or 60 minutes by frequent train service, with connecting bus to Waikanae Beach.

The pavilion can be rented separately, or as an “overflow” facility for Longshore or Seabreeze.

Sandgate is a fully equipped family home set on the sand dunes of Waikanae Beach with a commanding view from the large living room of Kapiti Island, Marlborough Sounds, and the shoreline from Paraparaumu to Otaki. Sandgate has been in the same family for more than 50 years, and is particularly suitable for families. The unobstructed view of the beach and ocean has been very popular with our previous guests. The space
Our Waikanae home is on the Kapiti Coast, a very beautiful part of the Wellington region. Waikanae has a geat beach that looks over to Kapiti Island (a nature reserve) and to the South the mountainous tops of the South Island ranges can clearly be seen during fine weather. The garden at the house is landscaped and benefits from the local Waimaea stream which runs through it. The stream is frequented by eels at dusk and ducks frequently visit the front door area (just in case there might be any food for them...). The front garden has outdoor seating areas that guests can make use of during their stay..

Guests can use the main kitchen to make drinks or prepare meals or snacks. Complimentary coffee and tea is available. Guests have the use of a modern bathroom with a shower. A separate toilet next door to the bathroom is for guest use only. Free WiFi is available for guests to use on their devices if required. Your bedroom features an Ecosa queen bed, feather pillows, Royal Dalton linen and a wool duvet and Orla Kiely duvet. Large wardrobe with extra blankets. Retro bedside reading lamps, and interesting art, including a Chris Guest limited edition print. I have a couple of bikes if you are keen to explore our many cycle ways. In our area, at the end of the street are 3 cafes. There is also a mini 4 Square supermarket and not far away is a French style bakery & fish & chip shop. They are a 15-20min walk away, either along the street or walking the beach or it's a 3 min drive. So plenty of options nearby for food & good coffee.
In the Waikanae Village are 2 larger supermarkets, chemists and Shoreline picture theatre.
There are numerous other takeaways & cafe options too.

Other things to note
Kapiti Island is a bird sanctuary. Some endangered species have been reared there. To visit the island, it is necessary to book well in advance, to obtain a permit from the Department of Conservation, and make a booking on the boat to make the trip.
Beachside B & B is a 15 mins drive to the ferry terminal in Paraparaumu.

There are many cycle paths & walkways connecting the various villages, from the beach here. Some follow the river, others radiate out towards Wellington, for a longer ride. Maps are provided or can be checked on the Kapiti Coast Cycleway info website.

For those wet days, the Shoreline Picture Theatre in Waikanae offers a wonderful selection of movies. Two small theatres, seating 50 max, on 2 seater couches. The attached café offers various snacks, coffee, tea, wine or beer, to take in with you. It's a very pleasant way to catch up on the current or arthouse movies, circulating through the country.

You’ll be charmed by this relaxing quiet place to stay. Close to the beach, Waikanae Golf Club, a well stocked corner dairy is a few hundred metres away as are the Cafes LongBeach and Hey Coastie. A bit further along is TukTuk Thai restaurant with magnificent sea and Kapiti Island views.
Your accomodation is seperate from the house.

The space
Studio with ensuite. Liken it to a hotel room - we have a kettle and toaster, have just added a microwave( not in photos but on top of fridge) there are no other cooking facilities. There will be cereal, milk, bread for toasting and some spreads including butter. Since the photos were taken the windows and door have been double glazed and a TV is on the wall above the table with freeview..

This is my wee home. Cali-King wouldn’t fit in the bedroom so I have commandeered the ‘lounge’! Two other small bedrooms, one king single and one single. Careful - single is a trundler so legs collapse. NO PARTIES.

Smaller rooms have a sink each! toilet/shower room separating them. So need to tip toe through to get to the loo at night.

Fully fenced. Pets welcome. Section not pretty but functional. Covered space to sit outside and enjoy morning cuppa.

Two comfortable queen beds, one softer and one firm quality mattresses. Suitable for two couples, a single person, single couple or a girls weekend away.

Sit back in this peaceful and restful little apartment/studio and enjoy a sense of peace, hear the waves. The beach is just a minute walk away, yet it is so close to the bus and cafes. A great space to write, draw or simply relax. Also available for monthly rentals at reduced rates.

The space
Studio 51 is set at the front of the property and is quite separate from the main house. It is not beachfront but is next to the beach front access, so 39 seconds to the beach. It is an open plan studio with a deck. There is a minimal kitchen. It is not set up for cooking a feast. There are great cafes nearby within 2-3 mins drive or 15 min walk. It is set by the Waimeha estuary. If you like long beach walks this is your space.

You can use the whole studio. Parking is out on the road and you can see your car from the studio. Parking off street is available if you ask beforehand.

The bus stop is just up the road and this takes you to the train

Long term tenancies are a possibility
