There are three bedrooms to choose from, the sumptuous mezzanine bedroom, the sunny garden bedroom with french doors out to the garden or the twin bedroom with two single beds. The downstairs bedrooms can be closed off from the rest of the house, leaving the mezzanine bedroom perfectly cosy in the winter with the logburner going.

The cottage has a fully equipped kitchen, separate dining area and is just a five minute stroll from the gorgeous cafes, restaurants and designer clothes shops in the town and just around the corner from the supermarket. We are also just a ten minute walk from the new rail trail, which is a lovely walk/biking track for families. We are just a few minutes drive or 15 minute walk from the swimming pool and family play park and a five minute drive from the river.

Enjoy Wairarapa's dark sky reserve the right way with the outdoor baths. Because the house is on a rainwater supply with a single tank, be aware of how much water you use. There is enough hot water for two baths because the house is heated by a hot water cylinder, but eventually it can run out until more can be heated!

Greytown honey and gorgeous flower farm is 1 minute up the road with Wicked Secret homewares along further. Take in the country scenery, relax at Lake Reserve (9 mins) even take a dip in the river after exploring the Tauherenikau racecourse 2 minutes up the road.

The first night was very windy, which did make sleeping difficult, but that would have been the case with any house in an open field in that wind. The location was also ideal - close enough to shops and restaurants, but rural enough to feel like a real breakaway from city life. The Farmhouse is a really warm and safe place to relax in front of the fire and enjoy quality time with family and friends, making lovely holiday memories in gorgeous Greytown.

This warm, spacious and very comfortable farmhouse was built in 1920 on a property located in nearby Bidwell’s Cutting. This home is typical of farmhouses being built at that time and is crafted with sturdy local Timbers which have stood the test of time. The home was occupied by the Chappell family, and Mr Chappell worked for many, many years in service to the owners of that farm in Bidwells Cutting. Upon Mr Chappell’s retirement the home was gifted to Mr Chappell as a ‘thank you’ for his many years of loyal service. It was arranged that the home would be relocated to the section at 6 Church Street in 1984 so that Mr Chappell could enjoy his retirement in the heart of the Greytown village.

We learned this story of true generosity when we purchased the property in 2014. This we believe is a wonderful act of kindness and one we felt is well worth sharing.

Since 2014 we have slowly worked away to lighten up the interior and create a really warm, bright and homely feel in ‘The Farmhouse’ with large airy spaces and lots of sunshine. The small garden that wraps around the house creates beautiful summer shade and attracts plenty of the local native bird life.

We are rural but with all the benefits of being within walking distance of town, just 10 minutes. We are also located on the road that leads to Woodside railway station. Our home is good for couples or travelers who are looking for a bit of rest and relaxation.

The space
Woodside suite is a semi-attached outside room under our carport which shares the same roof as the main house. It has its own en-suite (toilet, basin, shower).
Guests are welcome to use our home WiFi : password in the room.
Parking is free onsite: please park on the driveway next to the house Infront of the sign, we ask you to please not park in the carport during your stay.

Please, remove your shoes before entering the room.

The rooms access is separate from the main house via a ranch-slider door
under the carport. You will be given a key to lock the room during your stay.

We have a child and he is also keen to help Petra interact with our guests as they arrive or leave. If you dislike children or are feeling especially tired kindly let us know and he won't interfere at all.

A very small studio located a minutes walk to Greytown supermarket, cafes, restaurants and boutique shopping. Steeped in early Aotearoa, NewZealand history, Greytown was one of the earliest towns in NZ to be settled. Magnificent stands of old trees, and beautiful gardens, Greytown is the character town of the Wairarapa and beyond. Within seven minutes you can be at Woodside railway station making access to Wellington easy as you can leave your vehicle for the return.

Whare at Westoe is a beautifully restored 19th century one room building (20m2) (fully insulated) containing lounge and dining area, along with a double glazed separate sleeping cabin just across the deck -True 'glamping' with separate bathroom and kitchen areas just 12 metres away.
Kitchen has a two burner stove with pots/pans/crockery and cutlery and utensils with double sink. Microwave and fridge are in the Whare.

It's basic but comfortable, 1 bedroom, all day sun in the living room and a spare room with a sofabed is a great spot when it gets too hot in summer. The bathroom/laundry has a shower that's in theme with the corrugated iron cladding along with the toilet, washing machine, and dryer.
The living room has a fully equipped kitchen and opens onto the sundeck with BBQ. Shade sails can be put up over summer to provide a lovely space late into the evening and the heat pump can heat or air-condition the space as required.

You'll have use of the entire bach and 1,000 square meter section. Feel free to help yourself to fresh lemons, feijoas, or anything in the veggie or herb gardens when in season.

Dark Sky Cottage is on the edge of Greytown with a country outlook. We are 15 mins walking to the cafes and shops. The cottage is located next to our barns on a small lifestyle block. There is one queen bed in the bedroom and a double sofa bed in the lounge. The kitchen is separate from both bedroom and lounge. There is a veranda outside the front of the cottage and a deck at the side off the lounge.
For Star Gazers Greytown has been officially certified as an International Dark Sky Reserve

The B'Orr'Dello is a guest studio on the same section as our home.
We are a quiet retired/almost retired couple so you will be able to enjoy your peace and quiet.
The B'Orr'Dello has an attached carport, or ample parking alongside.
It has an beautiful ensuite, and a small kitchenette with a bar fridge.

This Boutique Apartment is the front half of one of Greytowns original farming Villas. The owners and 2 dogs live in the back half. Lovingly renovated, this adults only escape has kept the period details whilst bringing the villa up to date.
Just 3 minutes’ drive from Greytown Village, the apartment offers all you would imagine to find in a luxury hotel suite. A large lounge with wall to wall books to read in front of the fire in Winter or open both sets of French doors to the garden in Summer.
