- "The standard all round was fantastic and Johan was so kind and attentive we loved everything." - " Arrived at Shangri-La down a single track road from Hoekwil and found ourselves in a beautiful place in the forest. We were met by David who gave us a very warm welcome and showed us to our room. Wow - it was huge. There was the bedroom area with two big double beds, the sitting room area with tables, couch, chairs etc. and then a large bathroom area with a shower and corner bath. Then there was the balcony which ran the length of the room with stunning views over the forest. The shower had plenty of hot water, towels were large and soft as were the bathrobes. Toiletries were lovely. Beds were very comfortable. There were tea/coffee making facilities, safe, refrigerator and air conditioning that was very efficient - we just had this on at night, otherwise we had the doors open to enjoy the forest sights and sounds. We also had a complimentary bottle of water each day each. Breakfast was delicious and we had dinner here all three nights which was cooked by our hosts which was excellent. The grounds and garden areas were very pleasant to walk round and we enjoyed sitting out by the outdoor pool overlooking the forest. Furniture throughout the house was beautiful as was the art. Everywhere was cosy, comfortable, peaceful, tranquil, relaxing and delightful. This is a home in which we were made to feel very, very welcome. Loved it and looking forward to returning."

Please note that street parking is not safe in Cape Town. A lot of batteries and hubcaps get stolen. I highly reccomend parking at the nearby Garden Center's covered parking (Cnr Mill and Buitenkant Street).

We're centrally situated on the Cape Peninsula with the city centre, airport, beaches, and wine farms within a 20-30 minute drive.

The space
My house is well situated in Little Mowbray, convenient for quick access to free-ways, the city and other suburbs. It's close to the Red Cross Children's Hospital, Rondebosch Medical Centre and Vincent Pallotti Hospital. A short walk to Rondebosch Common for some exercise and relaxation. There are Golden Arrow bus routes nearby and a bit further away, you'll find a Jammie shuttle stop and the Mowbray train & bus station. There are a variety of restaurants and some small shops not too far away. You'll find a Woolworth's opposite the Red Cross Hospital.

Other things to note
The rate does not include meals. If you might need assistance with any meals, please ask and we can discuss what can be arranged at a reasonable rate.

There’s free parking OUTSIDE the property ON the street. There’s only one off-street parking for guests and it might already be booked by someone else. If it is available and you want to park a vehicle off the street, a small fee will be applicable. Please discuss this with me.

There‘s a family pet - a very sweet Jack Russell doggie called Dorothy, or Dottie for short!

Welcome to our peaceful Cape Town home! Single private bedroom with on-suite bathroom, private front entrance and the Durbanville Wine Valley on your doorstep. Tranquil and safe area for walking and running with mountain bike cycling trails within walking distance from our home.

Electricity is supplied via a solar system and we have a backup system to curb loadshedding disruptions.

Our home is central to most areas, situated just 19 km from the city center and V&A Waterfront, 16 km from Cape Town International Airport and 22 km from Stellenbosch.

We offer free WiFi with Netflix streaming. The room also has a small kitchenette with coffee and tea, micro-wave and a small bar fridge. The room is airconditioned for the warmer months and has a wall mounted heater for the colder winter months.

The backyard offers a private fenced area which we share with our guests, however the room also has its own small private courtyard as you enter from the main gate.

The room is fully lockable and also has a separate alarm should guests feel more secure leaving valuables when out for the day. However, the area is very safe, and you can relax. The main house will not be open to guests, but we are always willing to assist guests.

During your stay
We are not always around during the day, but likely we will meet you on arrival and we will make sure to be reachable by phone at all times. We will gladly assist with information on the area or directions when needed. Please do not hesitate to contact us.

Other things to note
We offer self-check-in to allow guest to come and go freely. Keys are left in a lockbox and the code is provided once the booking is confirmed. This makes it easy for quests arriving late in the evening.

Vredemaker Herberg is a very affordable, small self-catering room ideal for short-term rentals. The room is situated within walking distance to both Panorama Mediclinic and Panorama GVI Oncology Centre. Shops and restaurants are close by.
The room is only for ONE guest. The on-suite bathroom has a shower. The kitchenette is equipped with a mini-fridge, 2-plate stove, microwave, tea- and coffee-making facilities, and cutlery. Wifi Internet access is available. TV with Netflix and SABC.

The space
The property consists of one large house (three levels) that has been divided into four separate units. Although three of the units have interlinked rooms with locked doors, each unit has its own private entrance and its own facilities.

With amazing sea views of False Bay from all four units, you might be able to spot a whale during whale season. The sea is only 90 meters away and Fish Hoek Beach is a short 650 meters walk on the Cat-Walk pathway.

Located on the side of the property, this unit is accessed via a short, lovely walkway from the parking area. There is a small, private courtyard where you can have a barbeque (Weber provided) and hang your clothes to dry.

The unit consists of a large bedroom with a table and chairs for dining and working, a separate, full bathroom, a kitchen area with a sink and a fridge at the entrance, and a kitchenette adjacent to the bedroom. Moreover, there is plenty of storage space for your luggage and clothes, as well as for your bathroom toiletries and groceries.

A secure on-site parking space for one vehicle per unit is available (with extra public parking available across the street) as well as wi-fi.
