This is a pretty little 19th Century house located within the walls of the medieval town of Dinan in Brittany.
Its position in 'Le Jardin Anglais' (The English Garden) and beside the magnificent St Saveur Basilica is quite unique. Only a few minutes walk from the centre of the town with its restaurants, crepêries, shops and bars, it is nevertheless a peaceful and idyllic area. The house has been renovated to a high standard and is beautifully furnished and well equipped. The main living area is on the first floor so that the views of the church and the garden can be enjoyed. It includes: a modern kitchen, a lounge area with multi language TV, DVD and hifi stereo, a dining area and a mezzanine office area with wifi. There are two double bedrooms, one large on the ground floor with en-suite bath, and one smaller on the top floor with en-suite shower. Although very compact, the space within the house is well designed and is ideal for one or two couples.

Dinan Town: Dinan is an architectural gem, ringed by 2,700 metres of ramparts. Its historic streets contain 15th and 16th Century half-timbered houses as well as Renaissance residences, Romanesque and Gothic churches and ancient chapels and convents.

The view from the Jardin Anglais is quite breathtaking, looking down on the ancient port and the magnificent viaduct which spans the River Rance.

A strenuous but rewarding walk is from the town to the port via the steep Rue du Petit Fort, one of the oldest streets in Dinan.

Our gite is situated on the Rue du Petit Fort, a truly impressive example of conservation and preservation. This cobbled street descends steeply, dropping some 75 metres (300 feet) in its 750 metre length, from the old town to the picturesque River Rance and the old port of Dinan. The walk up and down is invigorating, scenic and very interesting and even more enjoyable when you envisage a gourmet meal waiting to be ordered at one of the many picturesque café’s or restaurants at the port of Dinan.

Ker Arthur is a self contained 2 bedroom gite, situated on the 1st and 2nd floors, with the living area and kitchen/dining area on the 1st floor, with access to the terrace and private garden, and a double and twin bedroom, sleeping 4 and a bathroom with shower/bath on the 2nd floor. The buildings are very picturesque and many are of considerable age. My apartment is bright, located 20 minutes from the historic center of Dinan and medieval 30 minutes from the port all on foot ;-). There is a bus line nearby. Line 2 "Deroyer"
I have a balcony for smokers. A bike garage for cyclists and parking. There's also a small wooded park at the back of the building.
Dinanese at heart, I would be happy to advise you on walks and discoveries of this pretty medieval city.

The bed is a pull-out bed that goes from 80*200 for 1 person to 160*200 for 2 people.

The apartment is intended to be friendly while respecting guests and the neighborhood.
To allow overnight access and flexibility on check-in times, without increasing rates, I'm counting on you to follow the cleaning guidelines.
As a reminder, cleaning is not included and using a cleaning service would increase the rates, which I do not want.

Guests can contact me as they wish, by email and text, depending on the network.
I am available to chat with them or guide them in their discovery.
I know how to be discreet if that's what the guest wants.

Other things to note
On weekdays I work from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., so check-ins will be after 5:30 p.m. or 6:00 p.m.
On weekends, you can drop off your things during the day, while waiting for the room to be available; the schedules are flexible, depending on your arrival time, the departure time of the previous guest and my availability.

Guest access
The accommodation is in the hyper center of Dinan, pedestrianized from early April to late September, some big weekends and small school holidays. A drop-off is possible on arrival but you must then park in the adjacent free streets or one of the two free parking lots within a 5-min walk.

Other things to note
It is on the 4th floor without elevator access. The stairwell is dilapidated but the accommodation is new. It is possible to park two bikes safely in the building lobby.

Room with shared bathroom with the host in an apartment in a hyper pedestrian center of old Dinan. The whole city can be visited on foot from the accommodation. Central point to visit the Emerald Coast, 20 min from St Malo, 40 min from Mont St Michel. Many restaurants, supermarkets within a 5-minute walk. Two bakeries at the foot of the building. You will be right in the center of the historic district but will sleep quietly because the room opens to the back of the building very quiet.

Nestled between forest and nature, yet in walking distance of the exquisite medieval city centre of Dinan, our modern but cosy home offers private rooms with shared facilities. Enjoy a short stay to discover this magical corner of Brittany.
If a lover of nature, history, or fine cuisine all can be found on your doorstep or a short drive to the coast.
Longer stays are also available at greatly reduced rates for those working or studying nearby during the late autumn and winter period .

The space
The property is accessed along the towpath between the old stone bridges of Dinan and Lehon.

Free parking is provided for 2 vehicles in front. Access to the house is through the front flower garden with an outdoor terrace for the guests`use.

The house is divided, with the lower principal part being for the shared use of the guests. This includes in 120m2, a Lounge/Games area on the Ground Floor, and on the Floor above an open plan Dining and Kitchen with views toward the viaduct and wooded valley.

On this floor will be your room, the Master Bedroom of the house which has a panoramic view over the valley. which can be enjoyed while working at the 4m desk.

There are two other smaller rooms looking to the forest and down the valley respectively that are also available to rent. Each bedroom accommodates a max. of two guests.

The Bathroom/Toilet also located on this upper floor will be for the shared use of the guests (max 4).

There are board games and books for the guests` use and a fireplace to warm up cooler evenings. The house is centrally heated too. Television and free Wi-Fi are also provided.

While the shared spaces on the first floor will be occasionally used by ourselves we will leave you in peace as much as possible as we live in our own apartment in the loft on the second floor.

Welcome to our home, an apartment at the entrance to Dinan, easy access by the highway and a 15-min walk to the city center/ train station.
Florent and I live there year-round, with our cat Gaia who is very often shy.
From Dinan you will enjoy the historic city center, Rue du Jerzual and its pretty port.
In the accommodation we will share kitchen, bathroom and living room.
The kitchen is yours if you want to cook a small dish, Dinan is full of good places to eat.

The space
We are in a property with beautiful volumes, high ceiling and large room. Formerly from the buildings of the military barracks of Dinan.
We appreciate the through light in our home.

The kitchen is equipped and we have what you need for you to cook (spices, pots, oil,...)We renovated it in 2023 so that it resembles us a little more.

Bathroom with shower and vanity, also had the right to a renovation in 2023. A small laundry area is available. If you want to wash a few things.

The bedrooms are not nearby, the one offered to you is "at the bottom of the hallway", with a south-facing window and a roller shutter.

In the proposed room there is a double bed (140x200) and a second bed that allows you to add 1 bed or two.
