Winston Cottage is a compact 2 bedroom north facing cottage with fabulous views with everything brand new and very clean. It has the convenience of being only 650m from Leura train station, the shops and restaurants in Leura Mall but still in a super quiet location. It offers 2 Queen bedrooms with fully built in wardrobes. One bedroom has a en-suite bathroom with shower, basin and toilet and the other bedroom is adjacent to the main bathroom comprising separate shower, free standing bath, toilet and vanity, both bathrooms have a IXL heat lamp. The kitchen is fully equipped with full size dishwasher, fridge, stove, microwave and all cooking utensils. There is a dining area adjacent to the kitchen with the loungeroom just beyond. The lounge area has two very comfy leather couches, a huge flat screen TV, bluetooth DVD/CD player and a open flame gas log fireplace which warms the entire cottage nicely plus air conditioning for those hot Summer days. Outside at the rear is a terrace with an outdoor table and chairs where you can enjoy a peaceful sunset with a glass of wine :) There are 2 completely separate rooms underneath the cottage which are owners storage. There are currently no laundry facilities at the cottage.

The clean, peaceful and cosy self-contained flat in north Katoomba backs onto bushland and is a private space surrounded by beautiful gardens on the lower floor of the main house. There is a kitchenette, shower, toilet and bathroom sink in one room, the main room has bed, dining area, sitting area, TV and fireplace, and another small room can be used as a store room. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and nature-lovers. Spectacular Minnehaha Falls reservation is just down the road.
The space
Ideally you would need a car for your visit, and we are about 7 minutes drive from Katoomba town centre. The 697 bus runs from there to here, and a taxi from the station costs about $15, but I can also pick you up and drop you off whenever possible.
Set in beautiful grounds, the flat has views from the terraced garden into the bush, and has its own entrance off a paved flower garden. It also has a rear entrance onto a private courtyard with a small deck and seating.
In summer the flat stays nice and cool on hot days. However we do get a real winter and it can get quite cold here in the mountains, so always come prepared with warm clothing! The flat is cosy, with heating, and the bed has an electric blanket .
There is a large TV (which does have a red line through the screen, but this is not very noticeable after a while) and there is wireless internet if you bring a laptop. No smoking indoors, but you are welcome to smoke outside using the ash tray provided.
There is also a small single sofa bed for an extra guest if needed. N.B. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IN ADVANCE IF YOU NEED THIS MADE UP. Extra guests after 2 are charged $50 per night and I also charge this if just 2 guests, and 1 needs the sofa bed.
Please note, the flat is not recommended for young children.

Guest access
There are several sets of steps to get to the flat (generally 3-4 steps in each flight), without hand rails, so not suitable for the elderly or disabled to easily access. Access around the side of the main house , and is lit after dark. However you may also need the torch on your phone, or the torch provided for you in the flat.The steps down to the fire-pit on the bottom terrace are also lit.

Other things to note
There are teas and coffee, long-life milk, cereal, spreads, and bread in freezer.

Possumwood Cottage is a studio accomodation located behind your hosts main residence and set in the midst of 1300 square metres of blue mountains garden. Possumwood is only 600 metres from Leura mall and Leura train station, so no matter what mode of travel brings you to the Blue Mountains, youu will not have to worry about how to get here. The studio is completely self contained and open plan. Two king single beds with extra quilts and pillows available. All linens are provided. Ensuite bathroom (no bathtub) - towels provided as well as Sukin shampoos, conditioner, body and hand wash. Kitchenette with mini fridge, toaster, kettle, microwave, coffee plunger, fresh ground coffee and a variety of teas and hot chocolate. No oven or stove as cooking not permitted but food is easily heated and lunches and breakfasts prepared in your kitchenette. The kitchenette is also equipped with a dinner set, additional mugs, glasses, cutlery and wine glasses. A small dining table where you can enjoy dinner looking out over a cold climate garden. Television, with foxtel now, wifi and a small sound system. Reverse cycle air conditioning, oil fin column heater as an additional heating option in winter, and electric blankets during winter months. Possumwood has a small deck with garden furniture to sip a wine and relax enjoying the garden and variety of bird wildlife that frequent the garden. Street parking is available outside the main property and is unmetered and free. You will be located within a 10 km radius to multiple Blue Mountains attractions e.g. Scenic World, Echo Point, Three sisters and 600 metres from boutique shopping, a multitude of cafes and restaurants whilst still being able to enjoy accommodation that plunges you into nature and is quiet and peaceful, and away from the bustle of the city. You are also welcome to wander the rear garden or make use of the outdoor furniture in the garden to absorb the sun and relax. On a clear night you will be able to make out every star in the galaxy, spot possums in the gum trees, or spy a tawny frogmouth.
No laundry facilities are available to you however, two laundries are within a few kilometres from the accommodation in Katoomba and are easily accessible by motor car or by public transport.

Bottlebrush Cabin is a 15 minute walk to Leura train station and shops or 2 minute car/taxi ride.

Bottlebrush Cabin sits in large grounds alongside its sister property, Banksia House. While Bottlebrush Cabin is completely separate and private for its guests, it can be booked together with Banksia House for groups of up to 6 adults.

Bottlebrush Cabin is for quiet enjoyment, we do not cater to parties.

Dogs are not recomended at the Cabin, we do allow pets to stay at our sister property Banksia Cottage.

On departure, the cabin must be left in the same clean condition as found on arrival.

Also difficult to negotiate locking the front door behind oneself since the drop to the first step is quite steep. There is only a microwave for cooking purposes, no stovetop - this needs to be made very clear in description. There is no kitchen sink, and washing up in the bathroom was unpleasant, not in keeping with the standards expected from the pictures or fittings. The bathroom basin tap was too low for filling the large kettle. The bed was very comfortable, and the balcony lovely to sit in, but if there is rain, there is nowhere to sit and eat or even turn around if there are two people staying."

The Neighborhood:
Leura for most of the year is a sleepy mountain town. It does get busy on the weekend or for the annual winter festival.

It's safe and has a great small town feel. There are lots of restaurants, cafes and shops to choose from you'll never feel like you are missing out on anything here tho.

Go on the world steepest railway at Scenic World or take the cable car.

At night sit on the terrace and wait for a shooting star to make wish.

Getting Around:
Getting around is easy. If you have a car parking as well as getting around is a breeze. We are located a 1. 7km walk from the station and if you grab a taxi its a short 5 minute drive to the house.

You can easily have an enjoyable time at the house and explore the surroundings without a car.

Please note that we do not accept reservations for groups with travelers under the age of 23 years old unless a a specific exception has been approved. If you are a family travelling with supervised children you can proceed with the booking.

Please note that we have a strict no party, no events and no noise policy at the house. It means any time during the day we ask you to be respectful of the neighbors but especially from 10pm to 8am to be considerate. Any breach will result in eviction.

As Possumwood Cottage is a cabin it is one space including sleeping, dining area, kitchenette and sitting area. The bathroom including, vanity, shower and toilet are an ensuite area. Possumwood has its own decking area looking out over the garden with outdoor furniture. The Cottage is located to the rear of the host residence and is accessed by walking up the driveway which is fully paved.

Guests are welcome to make use of the backyard which is fully gardened and fenced. Outdoor furniture is in place to provide seating area to relaxed and perhaps have a glass of wine.

The space
The property is an historic weatherboard home set amidst a large established garden backing onto the National Park and only a short walk to Leura Mall and all the local conveniences.
The guest suite is located on the lower level of the house and is accessed via the driveway where you have a dedicated off street parking spot.
The guest suite has a bedroom, study nook, private kitchenette, your own patio with table and chairs, and garden area to enjoy, kick a ball or lay in the sun. There’s a private toilet on the lower level for your convenience while your private bathroom is accessed via the internal staircase on the upper level of the main house.

I am an architect and academic and I live upstairs. There is some ambient noise that travels between the guest suite and the rest of the house but I’m careful to ensure your privacy and the quality of your stay. You have private access to the garden, deck and bbq area that is exclusively for your use.

The back garden has multiple levels so in good weather there’s lots of space to enjoy the fresh air and tranquil setting. We get lots of native birds in the garden including Bower birds, king parrots, the occasional black cockatoo flying overhead and rosellas are common visitors too. There is an old school brick BBQ with garden seating on the lower level which is yours to use.
The lowest level is where you can access the National Park directly through the back gate. The path leads you down to Leura Cascades and the Cliff walks that take you to either the Three sisters in one direction and Gordon Falls in the other.
It’s a spectacular to walk along the cliffs at sunset overlooking the Burragarong Valley.

Guest access
Access is easy via the rear garden. You have your own entrance that’s independent from the main house so you can come and go as you please. The dedicated parking spot is close to the guest suite for loading your bags without having to hike up any steps. There’s also plenty of free street parking if you have more than one car.

Other things to note
We welcome well behaved pets on a case by case basis, just reach out to ask. The front yard is fully fenced, the back yard has a few spots where small dogs can sneak through. And there are a great local off leash dog park nearby I can give you directions to.

There are many Azaleas, Camilias, Rhodies, Maples, Ferns and many more beautiful plants in this well established Leura garden.

Other things to note
Ring Tailed Possums are perched in the tall Pines behind The Lily Pad, together with their cousins, the Brush-taila Possum. You may hear them having parties or wandering around their habitat. Tread carefully if you cross their paths.

You may also see beautiful native birds such as the stunning Satin Bower Bird, Wattle Birds, Kookaburras, King Parrotts, Crimson Lorikeets, Currawongs and of course, never far behind, the Cockatoos. The illusive Black Cockatoos can be heard above and sometimes sighted.

And Misty, my little 16 year old Birman puss pops out every so often. Offer your hands and she may give back a little love.

Elphin is a warm, stylish studio with views from all windows over a beautiful little valley facing north and east, terraced gardens, native ferns and a sunny deck. As you lie in your cozy bed you can watch the trees and birds from beautiful large windows in three different directions. Please do note that if you have any challenges at all with mobility, Elphin is not recommended.

The space
Elphin is at treetop level on the edge of a small valley. It is the lower level of my home and completely private with separate entrance and a keypad security door. Elphin is a 28sqm studio. Two important points to note are that there is no lounge or lounge room and there is no oven.
There is, however, a 4 burner gas hob, microwave, half fridge, many utensils, pots, steamer, herbs and spices, olive and sesame oils, tamari, balsamic, Belotti coffee maker, Vittoria coffee, teapots and organic leaf tea. The designer bathroom features a 1921 Singer sewing machine basin and has a full bath and fantastic rain shower ☺️

Guest access
Unfortunately Elphin is really not very suitable people older than 55 or anyone with mobility issues, for the following reasons:
1). Parking is on the street and it is a 50 metre walk on a gravel and dirt drive to Elphin (and my valley). The driveway has no lighting.
2). There are 25 steps to reach Elphin. Some of the steps are not uniform and there is no railing.

Before you book it is very important that you let me know if either of these things trouble you.

Other things to note
* Elphin is within hearing distance of the trains and the highway, like most homes in the mountains. All of the 20 villages, the highway and rail line are clustered along the spine of the Blue Mountains World Heritage area surrounded on both sides by the National Park and enormous valleys and canyons. So while Elphin feels like it's a million miles from nowhere, and it’s difficult to spot another house nearby, you will hear passing trains and trucks.

* Parking is on the street and free. It is a safe area for street parking as we are in a very secluded dead end and the Blue Mountains is a safe place to live. It is a 50m walk from the street to Elphin.

* Out of respect for our neighbours, please do not park anywhere in the driveway or in the turning circle of the dead end of our street.

Welcome to Nidderdale, a spacious fully self contained apartment, above the main house. A stone’s throw to Leura mall, and many of the sights of the Blue Mountains.
Nidderdale is nestled high within the tree tops, with garden vistas and district view.
This well appointed 1 bedroom apartment, with full bath and kitchen is a beautiful place to get away from it all. Close enough to the bustle of town this little gem is a beautiful base to enjoy all the mountains have to offer.

Guest have access to the whole upstairs apartment, there are stairs into the apartment so listing is suited for able bodied folk. Our garden is a work in progress, there is currently no real outdoor areas for guest to enjoy a cuppa, however we are working on creating a paved sitting area for guests. If we are home for your stay please feel free to ask for fresh herbs from the garden, or pick any you like from the front garden.
