LAKE: Alder Lake is a 264-acre full rec lake on the Manitowish Chain of 10 Lakes. All 10 lakes are navigable by boat from May through September. Each cabin at Alderwood Resort has a private dock. There is a shared covered boat shelter that is first-come, first served. The nearest boat launches are on Wild Rice Lake (free) and at Greer's Pier Marina (small fee). Waterskiing hours, towing a person, and personal watercraft (PWC) permitted between 9:00am to 7:00pm. Rowboats, kayaks, and canoes are located on the waterfront for your use.

ACTIVITIES VIA WATER
Swim in Alder Lake. Kayak or rowboat on Alder Lake. Rent a pontoon through Greer's Pier Marina. Boat to restaurants like Aberdeen, Pea Patch, Little Bohemia. Stop at Greer's Pier for a cocktail and shopping. Go fishing, or hire a fishing guide. Boat to Little Star Beach. All 10 lakes on the Manitowish Chain are navigable by boat from May through September.

Take a walk on rural Alder Lake Road. Rent a bike from Coontail Sports and explore the area's world famous bike trails, like WinMan Trails and Heart of Vilas County Bike Trail. INSIDE

As you step into the spacious living area with wood burning fireplace, you will be welcomed by oversized windows that truly make it feel like you are standing on the shore of Stone Lake. To the right is the first sleeping wing with two bedrooms and a full bathroom. Just past that first sleeping wing, is the large open concept kitchen and dining room with lake views and plenty of space for your entire group to eat, drink, and enjoy good company. There is also a sliding patio door in the dining room leading directly to the attached deck outside overlooking the lake. Heading back through the living room, you will find the second sleeping wing. This wing consists of a master bedroom with a lake view and full master bath with laundry. Upstairs you will find a kid-friendly bonus sleeping area with four twin sized beds, full bathroom, and an aerial view of Stone Lake. The Lodge comes equipped with a furnished kitchen, Starlink high-speed WiFi, air-conditioning, brand-new linens and furnishings.

OUTSIDE

If the outside space at Stone Lake Lodge doesn't convince you to book your next vacation here ASAP, we aren't sure what will! Just off the back of the house is a large deck with lounging chairs, dining table, and new Weber grill. Next to the deck is a stone patio with an exterior firepit and new Adirondack chairs with a beautiful view of the lake. The perfect space for those late-night campfire stories...and S'mores of course! After some steps down, you will find yourself at the water and your own private lakefront area with two docks, boathouse and bumpers/ties to dock your boat, paddle boards and a tandem kayak, floaties and life jackets, more Adirondack chairs, 200’ of private lakeshore frontage, and a sandy bottom swimming area. Bring your boat, bring your toys, bring your friends and family! The waterfront area at Stone Lake Lodge is the perfect place to enjoy a true Northwoods vacation! Island lake is one of the largest of the chain of ten lakes and arguably the most beautiful. The walleye and muskie fishing is outstanding but traveling around to the other chain of lakes is lots of fun.

Renting the lodge by the week is standard and there are three seasons; spring, summer and fall.

Perfect for large groups or extended families, the house accommodates up to 21 people in seven separate bedrooms. After a day of water skiing, or fishing you and your guests can gather in the great room around a fireplace, relax on the spacious deck overlooking spectacular Island Lake, or watch movies or play pool in the lower level recreation room.

First Floor:
The first floor is designed for entertaining including a large kitchen with custom crafted Alder cabinets, first floor bedroom, massive great room with a cozy sitting area with expansive lake views, dining room with seating for 10 and a comfortable hearth room with gas fireplace and bar. The kitchen includes two Bosch dishwashers, two sinks, refrigerator/ freezer, beverage center, gas range and large granite island with seating for eight. The kitchen is stocked with all the pans, plates and cooking utensils for meal preparation including blender and coffee maker. The bar includes a built-in ice-maker and bar sink. The first floor bedroom features a queen bed and is located across the hall from a full bathroom with tub/ shower. Located a few steps from the kitchen is a spacious deck measuring 20'x25' with seating for 14 and a gas grill. Second Floor:

Lower Level Recreation Room:
The recreation room is very spacious with exceptional lake views from expansive picture windows. A game of pool awaits you or lively card game. Relax and enjoy a movie on the 70 inch television or cozy up with a book by the gas fireplace. If you haven't received enough exercise outdoors the recreation room also features a Nordic Trac cardio machine. 2 sofa beds and a half bathroom are also located on this level. Outdoor Space.
The Lodge is located on nearly two acres with magnificent lake views of the 1,023 acres of Island Lake. Island Lake is the first lake in the legendary Manitowish Waters chain of 10 lakes all which are all accessible by boat. The Lodge is conveniently located just three minutes from Highway 51 and 15 minutes north of Minocqua. Overlooking a quiet bay the beach makes for good swimming and even on gusty days the bay is generally protected from the wind and waves. Included for our guests' use are two kayaks and two stand up paddle boards. A short paddle to the east, is the Manitowish River that allows for excellent paddling on calm water. Located a short distance to the northwest, is a flat, uninhabited (but accessible) island called Pancake Island perfect for an afternoon picnic. A stone stair case leads to the large patio and entertainment area featuring a fire pit, rock ledge seating, and 12 adirondack chairs and three chaise lounge chairs. To make lake access easily accessible there is a blacktop driveway that extends to the lake front ending at the 63' foot pier for easy loading and unloading of boats.

The Manitowish Waters Chain O Lakes is an enjoyable trek for quiet water canoeists and kayakers. From its origin at
High Lake, the river flows for nearly 44 miles before joining with the Bear River to form the North Fork of the Flambeau River. The 20-mile section featured in this guide is nestled in the northwest corner of the 232,000-acre Northern Highlands-American Legion State Forest. Paddlers will find mostly flatwater with occasional riffles as you glide by open marsh and lush, northern lowland forest. A large number of sloughs provide excellent opportunities for exploration
and bird watching. One of the state's more popular canoe camping rivers is the river, with seven overnight camp areas spread out between Circle Lily Creek and the Bear River confluence.

The frequent wide-open spaces of the marshlands immediately surrounding the river make bird watching easy. Warblers, sparrows, finches, thrush, woodpeckers, wood ducks, and hooded mergansers, are just a few of the species that inhabit the riverway in summer. Eagles are also common; you’ll occasionally see one of their massive nests in a tall pine near the river. Beaver and otter are often spotted, and you’ll sometimes see: fisher, white-tailed deer, raccoon, red squirrel, and the occasional black bear. Our “Mani Bay Chalet” includes a sloped pursuit to the water where kids can play.

LAKE: Alder Lake is a 264-acre full rec lake on the Manitowish Chain of 10 Lakes. All 10 lakes are navigable by boat from May through September. The Brick House has 2 piers to park your boats. The nearest boat launches are on Wild Rice Lake (free) and at Greer's Pier Marina (small fee). Waterskiing hours, towing a person, and personal watercraft (PWC) permitted between 9:00am to 7:00pm.

The space
Come enjoy our modified A-frame that features all the modern amenities you like with the rustic charm you expect from the Northwoods. Watch the sunrise over the water from the wrap-around deck or two private piers. Be sure to gaze up at night at the zillions of stars blanketing the sky. You may even get to experience the northern lights if you’re lucky! Also, we are pet-friendly as long as your pup is well-behaved :)

Our home is located on 2+ acres of wooded land and is nestled under towering birches and pines directly on the Manitowish waters 10-lake chain with over 540’ of running shoreline on a private bay between Manitowish Lake and Alder Lake. Directly across the bay is pristine national forest land.

On the first floor is a well-equipped kitchen with cooktop island, dishwasher, and dining area. This opens to the family room with knotty pine walls, gas cast iron fireplace, cathedral ceiling, sliding door and an additional bay of windows to view the relaxing water view or the woods.
There is also a “game room” on the first floor with comfy chairs and a game table. This is a perfect room to catch up on work while sitting at the desk, or curl up in a chair and read a book as the natural light from the three walls of large windows floods the room.

There are two bedrooms on the first floor. The master bedroom with king bed faces the lake and has a sliding door leading to the deck. There is a walk-in closet and full bath with shower and a soaking bathtub. The second bedroom has a queen size bed, large closet and is close to the second full bathroom.

Laundry room with washer, dryer and utility sink is on the main floor. The second floor is a large, carpeted loft with 4+ twin beds and 2 ceiling fans. There is also a lake view from the loft.

Outdoors is a large deck with furniture as well as a side patio with a nice table for meals. There's also a handicap accessible ramp to enter the home. The private pier can easily secure 2 boats and likely 3 as long as it isn't 3 massive pontoons. There are nearby marinas if you're looking to rent a boat. We have a rowboat and kayak available for you as well.

You will find everything you need in our oversized kitchen; stainless appliances including a full-sized refrigerator / freezer, induction stove, dishwasher, and microwave. Gather your family and sit at the beautiful kitchen island, with views of the largest lake on the Manitowish chain. Need more seating? A table with chairs / bench seating awaits you, just off the kitchen island. Enjoy a more private meal or drink at our pub height table for two. Regardless of your seating choice, you'll be in the middle of love and laughter in our open concept kitchen / living room area!

The living room boasts a beautiful Northwoods full rock, floor to ceiling hearth / surround. At the center, sits a cast iron Vermont Castings gas fireplace. Enjoy a clean burn, while the fireplace warms your hearts (and everything else).

Each of the first-floor bedrooms have a Queen-sized bed, dresser, large closet, and original artwork from the Northern Wisconsin area. The first-floor full bathroom is situated steps away from both bedrooms. Enjoy the modern look of a tiled bathroom, coupled with rustic overhead logs.

As you head upstairs, you'll see the craftsmanship from generations of local masonries on the back side of the floor to ceiling rock fireplace surround. Upstairs, you'll find an open concept loft which has the feel of a studio. The loft is equipped with a King-sized bed, and views of the 865-acre Island Lake. Stream your favorite show from a 65" Samsung LED TV while lying in bed or seated at the cozy leather couch in front of your bed. A semi-private half-wall allows you to call the shots to those below you...or to simply enjoy your view from "above."

Venture into the master bedroom, where another King-sized bed awaits. With a large closet / dresser, you'll have plenty of room for extra clothing. A second, full bathroom is also steps away. Enjoy the natural sunlight from two skylights, while you get ready for your day.

Take a stroll into the lower level, just off the kitchen and you may not want to come back up. A mammoth Queen over Queen sized bunk bed (handcrafted from Northern Minnesota) rests in the corner of this retreat. A sectional leather couch encompasses the center of the lower level. From either location, you'll be able to enjoy streaming your favorite tv show on a 65" Samsung LED TV. Also in the lower level, is a 3rd full bathroom.

Conveniently located in this area is a stack washer and dryer, and adjacent is a tub sink and a location to hang your wet bathing suits. Don't want to come back upstairs? No problem, simply exit the lower level walk-out door and take in breathtaking views of magnificent Island Lake.

We are happy to announce that we have added a second Vermont Castings gas fireplace to the lower level area (seasonal). We continuously update our photos and captions, so if you are waiting to book, take a new look and you will more than likely see additional amenities.

The lower level is my favorite "getaway" in the cabin. Well, maybe my second favorite. I do love the open concept "loft" area. It is "private," yet socially inviting!

Regardless of how you exit the cabin, you'll want to enjoy the freshly stained wraparound deck. Take in the early morning sunrise, right from the deck. Watch the fishermen cast for trophy musky in our peaceful cove. As your appetite increases, pull up a bar stool at our custom-made tabletop, or simply enjoy your favorite cup of coffee. Turn the corner and enjoy a more private, secluded location on the covered portion of the wraparound deck. Take in the views of multiple species of trees, ground growth, and wildlife, as the area boasts numerous deer, ground critters and yes, an occasional area bear.

Take a stroll down to our private dock system on the lake. Want to bring in a boat? No problem. We offer plenty of docking to tie up your boats. Want to bring in a jet ski? Feel free to raise it on our easy-to-use lift. Want to simply relax on the lake? Have a seat on our large wicker couches (Brown Jordan brand) at the end of the dock system on a 144 square foot platform, while the kids jump in the water on our inflatable platform. From here, you’ll see Loons, Merganser’s, and Otters. You’ll be enticed into exploring one of the many islands on this lake. Feel free to use one of the multiple kayaks (4) or paddle boards (2) that we have. We have over one dozen coast guard approved life jackets, which we do require when you utilize our water equipment, as we want you to be safe. There are paddle board rentals on the chain, but why pay $50 per board per day, when you have ours for FREE with your reservation with us!

We have exterior deck lighting to aid in your evening activities. Whether you want a traditional color, or want to create your own color combination, you’ll be able to do so right from your phone. Be sure to come out at night, gaze at the stars, and take in the calls of the wild.

Whether you are looking to enjoy world class fishing, top notch winter activities, or explore the 4,000-acre Manitowish chain during the summer, look no further. We are situated on a private road, seconds from the snowmobile trails, and right on the shore of Island Lake. - "We felt like we were taking a little bit of a risk booking The Loony Bin for our summer family getaway because there were no previous reviews and all the photos were from the winter ...but we were not disappointed! The house was cozy with plenty of room for us and our 4 kids. The decor was charmingly 90s with appropriate updates and there wasn't anything we were concerned our rambunctious kids would mess up. We used the fire pit several times to roast hot dogs and marshmallows, cooked on the grill, ate on the deck table once. The kids wanted to live on the dock; the blue gill were so plentiful they could catch them with a net and fishing line tied to sticks. We explored Clear Lake with the canoe and spent lots of time reading and playing card games in the three seasons room looking out on the lake and hearing the loons. The kitchen had everything we needed for preparing and serving meals and then some. The beds were comfortable, mattresses felt pretty new, and the sheets and towels felt like nice hotel quality. It was great to have a tub to bathe the kids and a shower in the other bathroom for us parents. We made use of the washer and dryer and dishwasher every day. We spent a week and while we made a few day trips, we all enjoyed a few whole days spent relaxing here. There were cupboards of books and games to play and while we did watch a little Netflix, our trip was mostly unplugged and we loved it. The area is very peaceful. Be advised, you'll need insect repellent!"

LAKE: Alder Lake is a 264-acre full rec lake on the Manitowish Chain of 10 Lakes. All 10 lakes are navigable by boat from May through September. Each cabin at Alderwood Resort has a private dock. There is a shared covered boat shelter that is first-come, first served. The nearest boat launches are on Wild Rice Lake (free) and at Greer's Pier Marina (small fee). Waterskiing hours, towing a person, and personal watercraft (PWC) permitted between 9:00am to 7:00pm. Rowboats, kayaks, and canoes are located on the waterfront for your use.

ACTIVITIES VIA WATER
Swim in Alder Lake. Kayak or rowboat on Alder Lake. Rent a pontoon through Greer's Pier Marina. Boat to restaurants like Aberdeen, Pea Patch, Little Bohemia. Stop at Greer's Pier for a cocktail and shopping. Go fishing, or hire a fishing guide. Boat to Little Star Beach. All 10 lakes on the Manitowish Chain are navigable by boat from May through September.

The Shoreline Cottage is locatedright on the water. With 4 bedrooms and 3.5 baths, there is a lot of room to spread out. When you arrive and enter the navy bluedoor, you will see this cottage has a great 4 season porch with a swing bed to relax the day away no matter the weather. There is also plenty of space in the porch to corral your stuff. Inside you will be welcomed into a quaint cottage kitchen with all the things you need to cook a meal or fix a cup of coffee. Seating options include a breakfast nook, kitchen island and a separate dining table for 10. The open concept living room and dining area has a huge cozy gas fireplace, 60'' smart tv and lots of comfy furniture to play games or plan the next day's adventure. The main level of this cottage includes the master bedroom with a king bed and an attached master bath, complete with a curbless walk in shower. Set in the beautiful Northwoods this cabin is located just 20 miles north of Minocqua and a 1/2 mile off of Hwy 51.
Situated on the Manitowish chain of lakes, you will be fishing in some of the finest lakes around and can do so right from your back door!
Your private retreat connects to 195 acres of state land that you can explore and you will also have 161 feet of private lake frontage to enjoy.

PRIVATE BOAT HOUSE:
16 foot Fiberglass fishing boat with life jackets and Electric Start 15hp Evinrude boat motor and is available to RENT during your stay. Rental fee is $175 for the week ( payable at the time of check in).and includes a tank of gas. The boat is located in the boat house.

PADDLE BOAT and KAYAK'S
There are two Kayak's located down by the dock area and are available for use during your stay at no charge.
A paddle boat is also located down by the dock area for use during your stay at no charge.

COVERED BOAT SLIP
If you are bringing a boat of your own, there is a covered boat stall for you to park your boat under.
When making your reservation please disclose if you will be bringing your boat and what size it is so that we can ensure it will fit in the boat stall .


BATHROOM:

KITCHEN:
Your kitchen comes fully equipped with stove full size refrigerator/freezer, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, dishes, pots and pans, cutlery, utensils, silverware, dish towels, pot holders, dish soap and paper towel. In addition there is a ceiling fan along with a wall furnace and window air conditioner and a beautiful view of the water.

LIVING ROOM:
Is located directly off of the Kitchen area and gives you an additional view of the water. Included is a 32inch flat screen tv ( direct tv access) DVD player, free WIFI, and a land line .

BEDROOM 1:
Has two single beds, that can also be made into one king size bed upon request. All bedding is provided including sheets, comforter, pillows and additional blankets. Also included is a ceiling fan and additional free standing fan, dresser and hangers.

BEDROOM 2 :
Is located off of the kitchen and has a set of Wooden bunk beds. The Top bunk is a single size and bottom is full size. All bedding is provided including sheets, pillows and comforter. Additional bedding is provided as well. Ceiling fan, dresser and hangers are also provided as well as this bedroom has a view of the water.

OUTDOOR SPACE:
During your stay we provide you with a Private Screened in Gazebo that provides you and additional view of the water. In addition you will have both a charcoal grill as well as a propane grill including all grilling utensils.
There is also a large fire pit area including benches and fire wood for your enjoyment. Outdoor games are available such as Corn hole and ladder ball.

The space
INSIDE

As you step into the spacious living area with wood burning fireplace, you will be welcomed by oversized windows that truly make it feel like you are standing on the shore of Stone Lake. To the right is the first sleeping wing with two bedrooms and a full bathroom. Just past that first sleeping wing, is the large open concept kitchen and dining room with lake views and plenty of space for your entire group to eat, drink, and enjoy good company. There is also a sliding patio door in the dining room leading directly to the attached deck outside overlooking the lake. Heading back through the living room, you will find the second sleeping wing. This wing consists of a master bedroom with a lake view and full master bath with laundry. Upstairs you will find a kid-friendly bonus sleeping area with four twin sized beds, full bathroom, and an aerial view of Stone Lake. The Lodge comes equipped with a furnished kitchen, Starlink high-speed WiFi, air-conditioning, brand-new linens and furnishings.

OUTSIDE

If the outside space at Stone Lake Lodge doesn't convince you to book your next vacation here ASAP, we aren't sure what will! Just off the back of the house is a large deck with lounging chairs, dining table, and new Weber grill. Next to the deck is a stone patio with an exterior firepit and new Adirondack chairs with a beautiful view of the lake. The perfect space for those late-night campfire stories...and S'mores of course! After some steps down, you will find yourself at the water and your own private lakefront area with two docks, boathouse and bumpers/ties to dock your boat, paddle boards and a tandem kayak, floaties and life jackets, more Adirondack chairs, 200’ of private lakeshore frontage, and a sandy bottom swimming area. Bring your boat, bring your toys, bring your friends and family! The waterfront area at Stone Lake Lodge is the perfect place to enjoy a true Northwoods vacation! Stone Lake is a central location on the Manitowish Waters chain of 10 lakes with easy access to everything the chain has to offer!

Scenically situated on the grounds of the Discovery Center in a stand of pines overlooking Statehouse Lake, this beautiful home is the perfect Northwoods getaway! Just a short walk out the front door, you'll find a private dock that gives you access to Statehouse Lake, kayaks and canoes available for you to use, and easy walking access to Rest Lake. Explore the Discovery Center's 12-mile trail system or go fishing. Access to the snowmobile trail is available via the Discovery Center driveway.

The space
This is a full home on the private Statehouse Lake. North Lakeland Discovery Center is the only entity with access to the lake. Enjoy your morning coffee outside on the patio furniture or in the sunroom. Our full kitchen flows right into the main seating area, which looks out on the lake. Also upstairs are the two bedrooms and a full bathroom.

Downstairs you will find a seating area with a TV and DVD player, as well as a table to enjoy a puzzle or game. Through the doorway is a hallway of closets with other supplies you might need during your stay. The washer and dryers are available for your use.

The red barn just outside the house is a space you are welcome to utilize, it's perfect for keeping kids busy on a rainy day!

Newly Renovated Galley Kitchen (small, but has all the essentials). located on Island Lake, part of the desired 10 Lake Manitowish Chain. Huge fire pit behind the cabin on the ridge overlooking the lake, pier, and gas grill. Near biking trails, restaurants and shopping. It’s private yet easy to get to right off of Hwy 51. Enjoy beautiful summer sun sets and amazing wild life. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and small families. Weekly rentals only mid June to mid August!

Beside the Eagles Nest Cabin, guests have their own private access to a large fire pit located on the ridge behind the cabin and overlooking the lake. A pier to keep their boat and swim dock!

Other things to note
Cabin fits 4 adults and a 1 child under the age of 10. Or 2 adults and 2 children however, it does NOT accommodate 5 adults!!!! There are two bedrooms with queen beds and a full bath. Galley Kitchen as well!

There are TWO designated parking spots.

The Eagles Nest Cabin sits on the ridge of our beautiful property with stairs ( or paved driveway leading down to the lake). Additionally, there are several parking spots for our guests to park if they chose to utilize the driveway down to the lake). As well as two dedicated parking spots in front of the cabin. Please see picture provided from inside cabin looking out the front window to see lake view. The cabin has its own small deck with chairs and large fire pit next to the cabin for guest enjoyment. Additionally, there is a pier to tie their boat and a lake side swim deck to enjoy.

Absolutely NO EVENTS!
No more than 6 people ( including your party) on the premises at anytime! Also no more than 4 adults in the cabin unless otherwise approved!

Starting mid-June through mid-August, we only accept weekly reservations (Saturday to Saturday).

We also have 2 Kayaks for guests to use including paddles and life jackets!

We have Internet and a smart TV to enjoy. Netflix is included at no charge.
