This is one side of a duplex in a quiet, established neighborhood located in the heart of Mt. Pleasant. It is not on a through street, which means that is has little traffic. The street loops around to Shem Creek less than a block away, which makes for a short, walk.
The duplex was built in 1960. It is made out of brick and has a classic, simple feel to it, but is by no means perfect. There is a large patio in the back yard with table and chairs, along with a fire pit, and a fully enclosed, outdoor shower. It has its own private fenced in back yard that is large.
There are two bedrooms, each has two windows for plenty of sunlight. One bedroom has tile floors, and a queen bed. The other has wood floors, bunk beds, and a full-size bed. There are two sofas in the living area that encompass a wall mounted TV. The bathroom has solid marble tile floors and bead board siding. It has a newly renovated kitchen outfitted with the essentials; stove, microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher, plates, cups, utensils, coffee maker, pots & pans, toaster and blender. Washer, Dryer, Iron, Ironing Board, and Blow Dryer provided. Two beach cruiser bikes, beach chairs and a small cooler are also available for use.
The other side of the duplex is a vacation rental as well. Each has its own front door PRIVATE entrance with a screened-in porch. They also both have their own PRIVATE, fenced in back yard, with back door entry.

Our home is conveniently located less than a mile from Shem Creek. We could write a small book on all that Shem Creek and the local area has to offer. We have two boys, a Giant Schnauzer, and we love going out to eat and sampling some of the world class restaurants the Charleston area has to offer. We love sharing what we have discovered, just ask! We moved here years ago and still feel like we are on vacation. Our favorite way to explore the area is on bikes, so we wanted to share that with our guests. Sullivan's island and downtown Charleston are both roughly 6 miles in opposite directions on the same road with bike paths the whole way to each. Depending on how adventurous you are, you can head out the front door and be on the beach, or enjoying all that downtown Charleston has to offer without ever getting in your car. There are also water taxis downtown from Patriots Point if you do not want to ride the bridge. Again, just ask, we have information on all of that.
Within an 8 minute walk out the front door there is a Starbucks and a host of great places to eat, shop, or grab a drink.

Three miles to Sullivan's Island, one mile to Shem Creek and five miles to Downtown Charleston! Updated kitchen, equipt for cooking and eating, W/D combo unit, the living area has a smart TV and a dining area for four, hardwoods throughout. - "The home is just as advertised. The hostess, Sallie, was available and responded promptly to a few questions that I had as we arrived. The home is stocked well with plenty of items, such as paper towels, dish soap, toilet paper, trash bags, salt and pepper, and sugar.. to name a few. Plenty of pots and pans and utensils as well. But the best part is the location. The neighborhood was safe and quiet and yet close enough to restaurants and shops. And only 15 min from downtown Charleston. A very easy drive back and forth to Charleston as well. The home fit a family of four well enough and it was very comfortable. Beds were clean and soft. If I had to nitpick, I will add that the mosquitos are terrible in that area (bring bug spray if you plan to sit outside). And the washer/dryer is one unit and not the most efficient. With that said, we would absolutely stay again. Great hostess and great experience overall."

- "We could not have had a more perfect vacation spot. The neighborhood is quaint, quiet, and on a lovely oak canopy street. You are 15 minutes from Isle Of Palms, Sullivan's Island, and downtown Charleston. You are 5 minutes from Shem Creek. Everything you need is within three blocks, Publix and the best restaurants. We ate at Home Team Bar B Q, The Mustard Seed, The Boathouse, and had ice cream at Ye Old Town Cafe. Each of these places was fabulous! The property is spotless, even in hard-to-see places, which is only sometimes the case. The bed and bedding were very comfortable, and we rested the entire stay wonderfully. There are also two beach chairs and a beach bag, which we didn't use on the trip. The place was stocked with the basics for our week's stay. Toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap, plenty of K-cups for the Keurig, an assortment of tea, salt and pepper, and other spices. The communication from Brandon and Jess was impeccable, from the inquiry of the property through the stay to our departure. This will be our first inquiry if we are ever back in the area."

- "The apt was quiet and a peaceful neighborhood. There was a person who came in to clean the place every two weeks which was a nice bonus. Gabriel was very accommodating. I do have some suggestions. It would be nice to have a binder or something to explain how to work the heater and air conditioner. Also instructions on how to run the television as we struggled with the tv control being slow to warm up to open channels and had push button several times to get the controls to work. We replaced batteries but didn’t make a difference. Perhaps there was a certain trick that we didn’t know to get it to work. Also we didn’t see how to find the satellite tv as it appeared there was only google smart tv. Binder could also contain how to use washer and dryer and what instructions on what to do to close up when you are finished staying. It would also be nice to have some brochures as to fun things to do in the area. Suggestions for restaurants and the like. Since we weren’t from the area we had to do a lot of research to find places to go. We have stayed many times with Vrbo and usually these brochures and binders are lifesavers for the guests. Overall the stay was very nice."

This is a freshly decorated studio with a kitchenette so the living room and the bedroom are the same space. The queen size bed is a Murphy bed which has to be pulled down from the cabinet for each use. This requires sliding the coffee table and settee slightly out of the way to pull the bed down. There is a bar with two stools to work at or have your meals. There is a comfortable chair with a reading light and a settee for relaxing and watching TV. It is a smart TV and Netflix access is provided. Due to the hosts’ large dogs, there is no access to the backyard and the studio sliding glass door should be kept locked at all times. There is a small courtyard with a bistro table for you to enjoy your morning coffee or evening wine. There is no access to laundry facilities but there is a laundromat 2 miles away that also takes drop off and provides laundry services if you don’t want to do it yourself. This is not necessarily a quiet place as the neighbors are friendly and our dogs bark at anyone walking down the street so if that might annoy you Bluebird Studio probably isn’t the best choice for you. As the weather cools off we may also sit on our deck, listen to music and have refreshments on weekend evenings so if that might annoy you Bluebird Studio might not be the best choice for you. If you don’t mind a bit of activity around and some occasional barking then I think you will LOVE Bluebird Studio and we look forward to hosting you!

This home is very close to downtown Charleston and not far from the beaches. A clean and relaxing place to stay while you are visiting the Charleston area. This rental is for a single traveler. Welcome to our humble abode!

You will have your own room and bath with a semi-private home entrance. New AC installed in summer 2025. As the upstairs of our home is reserved solely for Airbnb, it has a very private feel. We're minutes from Sullivans Island tucked away in a beautiful quiet neighborhood and just a few miles from downtown.

We have 2 kids under 5 that you may hear during your stay before and after school during the week and on the weekends.

The space
If you're looking for a place with a private feel but don't want to pay "entire home rental" prices, this is the spot! The space is a private room over our garage with an attached bathroom and has a semi-private entrance. You will enter through our garage into our laundry room and the door to upstairs is in the laundry room. The head clearance is low in spots, so if you're over 6', watch your noggin at times! You will likely hear us when we're in the kitchen and living room but since the bedrooms are at the other end of the home, you will never disturb us if you plan to arrive late. We usually keep the door between the kitchen and laundry room closed unless we're using the laundry room or entering the garage. We like to introduce ourselves but we will also give you privacy!

The space does not have kitchen access.

The room has a queen sized bed, a desk, a mini fridge, and microwave for use. We have a smart TV with netflix and some basic cable channels.

We have a newly installed mini split AC unit to keep you comfortable year round.

We are unable to accommodate assistance animals due to allergies. Apologies!
