The Studio is a 2-person oasis in an adorable neighborhood with a babbling brook, where you can rest in quiet and watch the turkeys, deer, ducks, and squirrels. Alex (Sprout), a star of Building Outside the Lines and Cappie’s stepdaughter, redesigned the interior of the space. She has provided outdoor seating nearby under the trees, next to the brook that runs in the summer.

The Studio is located in the sideyard of an historic home in a residential area on the edge of Spearfish. It originally was the servants’ quarters, but was mostly used as a henhouse for much of the 1900s. In 2015, it was renovated as an office space. Then Alex remodeled it yet again for a vacation rental.

The family in the home enter and exit from the other side of the house (including the garage), so you will have utmost privacy.

Sit on the deck overlooking an open meadow that is home to many deer and other wildlife and enjoy the morning sunrise or our spectacular view of the sunset. Many marked walking trails within minutes of the property. The snowmobile and UTV trails are within a mile or two from the cabin, you can ride out from the cabin. If you are looking to cool off with a dip in the water, Iron Creek Lake is approximately 1.5 miles from the cabin. After dark settle in to view the spectacular showing of stars. With very little light pollution you have a birds eye view of the wonderful night sky.

We are walking distance to downtown, parks, groceries, restaurants/coffee, fuel and more! If you need recommendations for anything, please don`t hesitate to ask! You are close to great hiking and biking at Lookout Mountain, Crow Peak, and the Spearfish Canyon.

Head over to Deadwood (15 minutes) for concerts, gambling, and shopping.

Skiing at Terry Peak in Lead is about 30 minutes away.

Do some sightseeing in Custer, Keystone, and Sylvan Lake about 1 hour and 30 minutes away. Be sure to check out Crazy Horse and Mount Rushmore along the way!

This newly renovated, 250 sq ft studio is located on our main property but is separated by a privacy fence and has its own private drive and patio. It is two blocks from downtown shops, entertainment, coffeehouses and restaurants.

It is minutes from Spearfish Canyon, walking distance to the Spearfish City Park & Historic DC Booth Fish Hatchery, a 15-minute drive to Deadwood, a 20-minute drive to Sturgis, 1-hour to Mt. Rushmore and Custer State Park and a 25-minute drive to all the winter sports the hills has to offer.

The kitchen has all utensils, pantry items, dishes and pots/pans you will need for your stay and a local, family-owned grocery store w/ spirits is located less than a block away for a quick trip to stock the fridge.

*Weather cancellation policy: Due to the nature of where we live, we do not offer refunds for weather related events unless the DOT closes the highway or roads prohibiting travel to our town. We experience winter 6+ months out of the year and our area is equipped to handle the snow. We want you to feel comfortable with traveling, but cannot afford to have our calendar tied up only to have last minute cancellations for several months out of the year.

Check-in instructions will be sent to you within 2 weeks of your arrival date. You don’t need to worry about meeting us at a specific time, you will be given a specific door code to enter the property for your stay. We do not meet guests personally, we have the Nest system with our home and you will be given an access code to use when you arrive. We are located in town should you need us for anything during your stay.

We are located just off the highway, yet on a quiet street. This is the upstairs unit in a complex that is being converted to an Airbnb community! We are walking distance to downtown, parks, groceries, restaurants/coffee, fuel and more! If you need recommendations for anything, please don`t hesitate to ask! There is parking directly in front of the unit as well as on the side of the building (see picture for details)

You are close to great hiking and biking at Lookout Mountain, Crow Peak, and the Spearfish Canyon.

Head over to Deadwood (15 minutes) for concerts, gambling, and shopping.

Skiing at Terry Peak in Lead is about 30 minutes away.

This beautiful 3-acre property, once the Swisher Farm, is today a working homestead, with dozens of chickens and a large garden. This quiet oasis is located within the city of Spearfish.

The rental portion of the farmhouse includes two rooms which have been recently remodeled. The white door in the kitchenette is permanently closed to homestead employees so there is no fear of surprise visitors - however you may hear us working in the basement of the house and will certainly see us outside as it is a working homestead!

Granny Flats is located in the old small-farm area of Spearfish, which used to be known for it's fruit and vegetable production. Today, much of it has been converted into large lots for homes, but the small-farm feel still pervades through a few small greenhouses and farm stands.

We're located right on two bike paths, one will lead you directly to a Crow Peak Brewery, a local food market, and two restaurants down the road, and the other one will provide access to the commercial centers of town, where there are several exceptional locally-owned restaurants and breweries.

You also have quick access to the gorgeous northern Black Hills, which are popular with hikers, bikers (both kinds!), and nature lovers. We are essentially equidistant from the Badlands (1.5 hrs), the Southern Hills (Mt. Rushmore, Wind Cave NP, Jewel Cave NP, Custer State Park; 1.5 hrs), and Devil's Tower NM (1 hr).

The deck is under construction but it has a good amount usable!! We are available every day for short stays OR if you are a fairly quiet someone or someones :) who would appreciate this lovely apartment and view for a medium length stay through May, 2024 contact us. $1100 a month includes all utilities plus wifi. Entire garden level of lovely house on outskirts of Spearfish. The level includes a large bedroom with queen size bed, living room with TV, bathroom, laundry facilities, microwave and private entrance. It's a split level home and I live upstairs, guest access will be limited to the garden level only, but holler if you need anything!

Ever slept in a culvert on purpose? Here's your chance. Repurposed by a local craftsman this unique 8' culvert sits on 15 wooded acres just outside Spearfish, SD. The Culvert is weathertight and has 1 full size bed. Perfect for an overnight or two. Pet friendly, fire pit, off-street parking, cell service. Hike, bike, relax, read, stargaze...with room to breathe. Bordered by public land on two sides with Black Hills National Forest 1 mile away. (See notes)

The space
From Spring - Fall, The Culvert is the primary sleeping space but the rest of the property is yours to explore. It has a new outswing door with window which provides cross ventilation. Completely off-grid with a composting toilet system, solar generator for small electronics, but no running water or heat source. If you are looking for regal amenities this is probably not the spot for you. But it might be perfect for the adventurous and those who want a unique place to stay/camp. There are local shower facilities at Spearfish Rec Center and City Campground. The Culvert is located 1 mile from the Tinton Trailhead which offers single track mountain biking and hiking trails.

Guest access
The property is bordered by state land and is close to the Black Hills National Forest so hiking and biking are easily enjoyed right from the property. There is a dedicated off-street parking space with a mowed footpath up to The Culvert.

Other things to note
This place is perfect for the solo traveler or couples passing through Spearfish. If you are planning a longer stay bring your own water and camping supplies if you anticipate needing those. There are plenty of eating establishments just a few minutes away in the beautiful town of Spearfish.

Great location! Just a minute's walk from downtown. Quaint and clean bedroom/bathroom private room in a quiet neighborhood, with a comfy queen bed, tons of natural lighting, and private entrance! There's a closet and luggage rack, as well as a mini fridge, water kettle, and coffee/ tea station (no full kitchen access— sorry!).

The Balcony room is a guest favorite! Although, it has the smallest bathroom (corner shower), it offers an ice cream table with 2 chairs and a private balcony to enjoy the outdoors, hence it’s name.

For some or all meals, use the fully equipped kitchen on main floor, or walk/take one of our bikes to the many great shops and restaurants downtown! Upon your return, relax and stargaze in our outdoor hot tub, as the evenings cool down in the Black Hills.

Our home is 2 miles out of Spearfish on a paved road ...very accessible to town but very private and secluded. We are close to great hiking trails, skiing, 4x4 trails and lovely views. If you love the outdoors, you'll love this place! Sit on the patio with coffee and watch the deer wander through! Very peaceful and serene. A second and third bedroom and additional bathroom is available on request for additional fee. These would only be available to members of the same party.

If you love the outdoors, you'll love this place! The patio is very cozy and inviting with hammock chair, dinette set, and rockers. The deer wander through regularly and the privacy and beauty of the woods lends itself to relaxing and enjoying nature.
Coffee pot is on the counter and usually fresh muffins!

This travel trailer is fully hooked up sitting on 40 acres at the base of Crow Peak in Spearfish.
There is one bedroom with a queen bed, and a sleeper sofa in the living room.
It’s at a great location to do some grilling, sit back in a lawn chair and soak up the views of Crow Peak and the surrounding nature.

This studio apartment is a super cozy, lower level guest suite with family living above that has its very own private entrance and courtyard. Featured in 605 magazine, this Scandinavian log home was originally built in 1890 and has been remodeled with Black Hills pine beetle floors and reclaimed barn wood trim. Centrally located, within a block walking distance to 3 local restaurants, 2 blocks from spearfish creek bike path, 2 miles from spearfish canyon and within 60 miles of attractions such as Mount Rushmore, Custer State Park, Devils Tower and many more. This cabin has a private entrance, bathroom, kitchen and parking.

The space
Recently renovated with a touch of modern Nordic flare, this cabin includes; chair, couch (pulls out into a twin hideaway bed), queen size bed, breakfast table, stove top, microwave, mini fridge, internet tv, bathroom and shower. It also has a large loft area with a blow up mattress and cot.

The space
My home was built in 1902. I'm painting, fixing, and remodeling as I go when guests aren't around. Hoping to build my shouse behind the house sometime in the next year.

The main living room area is cozy and inviting. There's a wood fireplace for those cold winter nights and a large beautiful yard to enjoy in nicer weather. The yard will receive upgrades as well over the next year including a new patio area and fire pit.

The laundry area is just off the kitchen. There is a laundromat just a couple of blocks from the house if you'd prefer.

There is one shared bathroom. (That will be changing in the future as well for those returning)

I list this as a shared space but often may not be there.

The space
The house has an open concept with a single bedroom (queen bed) right off the living room, as well as a trundle bed in the secondary living room for extra sleeping space. There is a full bathroom with a tub and shower, and another open living space perfect for setting up a travel crib, storing travel gear, or yoga! Additionally, there are two other sofas and a chair that can be used for sleeping accommodations.

Situated on a corner lot in one of the best neighborhoods in Spearfish, you will enjoy a big, fenced-in yard that is great
for kids, yard games, or (pre-approved) dogs. The neighborhood is totally walkable - the hospital and many food options are just 3 blocks away. If you prefer to stay in and cook, Safeway is within walking distance and the kitchen is fully stocked!

Spearfish is surrounded by natural beauty and offers a variety of fun, family-friendly activities during any season. We are also 30 minutes from the local ski resort, and just over an hour from Mount Rushmore.

This beautiful 3-acre property, once the Swisher Farm, is today a working homestead, with dozens of chickens and a large garden. This quiet oasis is located within the city of Spearfish.

We have another rental on the property that was built by Cappie, co-host of Building Outside the Lines on Magnolia Network, as his own residence. This adorable off-grid cottage is handmade, from the bespoke front door to the custom 2-headed shower.

The space
The rental portion of the farmhouse includes two rooms which have been recently remodeled. The white door in the kitchenette is permanently closed to homestead employees so there is no fear of surprise visitors - however you may hear us working in the basement of the house and will certainly see us outside as it is a working homestead!

We're located on Main Street, close to popular shops and restaurants. Spend a day shopping on Main without worrying about finding parking or getting towed.

Additionally, if you want to explore the splendor of the Black Hills, we are 1/2 mile from the mouth of Spearfish Canyon so you can escape to nature!

This room has been completely renovated as of 2022. Even though we're a local hotel, we believe that your stay should be as luxurious as possible. This means, while the room is small, we've configured it so you have a sitting area and a kitchenette available for your stay. We also believe that luxurious sleep makes a vacation better and have opted to carry premium Red Land Cotton linens for every room. Since we're also coffee lovers, we developed the Queen City Inn House Blend and offer a 12 oz bag for each stay!

Please note, this is a local hotel and other guests will be onsite as well. We did our best during renovation to reduce noise transfer, however please be respectful of others. Additionally, because we are on Main Street, road noise will be audible at around 7AM, however that's no problem, because you want to be on Main Street in Spearfish.

We have a sister apartment on the main level of this ranch style house. There is noise transfer between floors so we ask all guests, up and down, to be quiet after 10:00 pm. Both apartments are served by one thermostat on the main floor. Our manager will set the temperature to balance the comfort level for all guests.

There is an entrance on the side of the house for the basement apartment. The steps are wide and easy to navigate.

Our home is a 5-10 minute walk to downtown Spearfish with restaurants, breweries, wine bars, shopping, local grocery stores, parks and recreation and Black Hills University.
We are minutes away from the walking, jogging or biking trail than runs along the city’s namesake, Spearfish Creek. The trail is about five miles long, starting at a city park on the north end traveling southward to the mouth of breathtaking Spearfish Canyon. It’s an easy way to observe the beauty of every season in Spearfish: the stunning change of color in autumn, the silence and serenity of winter snows, the flush of green in spring, and the breezes rattling the leaves on a warm summer day.
Within a half mile walk of the house are three grocery stores including a Safeway with a Starbucks and a natural foods store, multiple coffee shops, and numerous bars, restaurants, shops, and churches. Spearfish’s historic Main Street is just blocks away from the house. Black Hills State University is also a mile away. The Spearfish Rec & Aquatic Center is half a mile away and offers workout facilities and a seasonal waterpark. Many other fitness options can be found in Spearfish almost all within a half mile of the house. Eagle Cliff Trails are close by.
A few highlights of things to do in and around Spearfish: The D.C. Booth Historic Fish Hatchery & Archives are a mile away on Spearfish Creek. The Spearfish Canyon Country Club is a mile and a halfs away and it’s less than eight miles to the Elkhorn Ridge golf course. Both of these golf courses are open to the public.
Mountain biking trails are as close as a two-mile bike ride from the house. For fly fishing enthusiasts, Spearfish Creek is a premiere fly fishing spot and is a quick walk from the vacation home.
The historic mining boomtowns of Deadwood and Lead are less than a half hour drive through the Black Hills where you can dine, gamble, shop, and visit the Homestake Mine museum. The Terry Peak Ski Area is about 2 miles south of Lead.
A 60-mile drive west through grasslands and Ponderosa pine forests is the stunning granite formation known as Devils Tower. Approximately 70 miles drive south through winding mountain roads into the Black Hills are the towns of Hill City and Keystone as well as Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse. There’s much more to do, see, and experience no matter the season in and around Spearfish.
After a long day of fun, you might consider Black Hills Salt Caves for a relaxing and therapeutic massage. They have a full spa menu.

Our little charming house in Spearfish is a gem. The cottage style home is nestled in the heart of Spearfish, SD. Our house is not a modern marvel, built in 1924, but it has tons of character and is charming!

The space
Welcome to our cute little Spearfish cottage! We have been blessed to have this beautiful little piece of heaven in the beautiful Black Hills of Spearfish, SD. We call our house a cottage because it is a quaint, little home that was built in 1925 that resembles a cottage painted by the famous painter Thomas Kincade. Our home is nestled in a huge lot that resembles a park. We have a beautiful yard with numerous mature trees, bushes, and flowers.

Other things to note
Air conditioning is not central air, we have air conditioners placed in all major rooms.

If you are a plant lover, you will love Little Blue! Talk about a perfect location right in the middle of Spearfish. Only a couple blocks away from Black Hills State University, some of the towns best restaurants right in the back yard, and only a short distance from downtown.

Little Blue is a peaceful little home. Sit out on the front porch with a beverage or have some private relaxation time in the fully fenced in back yard.

The space
Little Blue is a 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom home. The main bedroom has a queen size bed, a dresser, and a closet. The second bedroom has a comfy full size bed and a work space. The bathroom is shower only. We have a full kitchen set-up to make cooking possible!

Little blue is full of color with many plant friends which makes it a fun stay. Wake up, have some coffee, put a record on the player, and relax!
