This nice residence is fully furnished and has four roomy bedrooms. The master room has a walking-in-closet. It has a living room, dining room, two bathrooms and a fully equipped kitchen. The high ceiling and window system on top and between the areas inside the home, provide excellent ventilation, keeping it at a nice temperature environmentally friendly. Its two spacious balconies provide the perfect space to rest or to simply enjoy the cozy nature of Puerto Rico, accompanied by the singing of the great diversity of birds that live in the area. Located on the landlocked mountainous of the center of the Island, sacred place for our ancestors the Taino Indians, the property was part of a former coffee farm and has an extension of 7.5 acres, which you will be able to explore and be in contact with nature.

Inside Home: In the center of the house lies a small interior courtyard which will provide you a refreshing atmosphere. In this area the ceiling is a dome higher than in the rest of the house with a skylight that allows sunlight illuminates the interior courtyard.

We also run Batey Zipline Adventure, a nature adventure company that offer tours around the Tanamá river area (about 10 minutes away from the house) and include activities like zip lining, rappelling, caving, river kayaking, forest hiking, suspension bridge, and horseback riding. Other Attractions: If you want to stay in touch with nature and enjoy exciting and interesting historical sites, environmental and scientists, this is the place for you. Caguana Indian Ceremonial Park – dates back to 1200 AD and was the most important ceremonial center of Taino culture in the West Indies. This Ceremonial Park is located only two kilometers from the house. Rio Camuy Cave Park – is an extensive cave system, considered one of the most important in the Western Hemisphere. Famous for its subterranean river, Rio Camuy, world´s third largest subterranean river. Lago Dos Bocas – is a large, beautiful, winding reservoir. You can take the ferry leaving from the principal dock to one of the many restaurants on the water´s edge.

Your Stay is in a spacious 3 Bedroom 2 bath pristine house centrally located in the heart of Puerto Rico. If desired you can rent the lower unit a charming 1/1 unit. Together both units can comfortably sleeping up to 8-9 people. The house alone can comfortably sleep 6 persons. The elevation of the property is approximately1800ft up so the nights and mornings get very cool. You will feel right at home with features like Quiet seating areas, Full kitchen, Dining Room, Outdoor Patio Bar, and many more amenities to make your trip extra special.

The House features 3 bedrooms 2 bathrooms. The Large Cozy house features breathtaking Mountain View’s, a Smart TV with Satellite TV, A full Fridge with Freezer and a Stove/Oven. The apartment which is an additional price has a one bedroom one bathroom sleeps up to 2-3 with a pull out sofa and a mini kitchen .

Surrounded by nature in the peaceful mountains of Utuado, a town in the central region of Puerto Rico, you will find Casa Lago...In this neat and beautifully decorated Lake House, can sleep up to six (6) guests and no visitors allowed. It has two bedrooms with queen size beds, two full bathrooms, family room, all rooms with linens and towels. This two story wooden house has also a fully equipped kitchen. It also has a dining room, living room, and a large terrace with a hammock that will tempt you for a daily nap, or simply relax while enjoying a nice view of the Caonillas Lake. Most of the time we have a cool breeze weather, although, there are six ceiling fans in the house that will make it more comfortable for you, if needed.

In the lower level of the house there's another terrace and a laundry area with washer. In our large patio, there's a big gazebo with two half bathrooms and plenty of chairs and tables to gather your party and enjoy a charcoal BBQ; all under the shade of bamboo trees.

Begin your day with an aromatic coffee while the morning fog still covers the lake, or prepare a fresh fruit salad with bananas,papayas, mangoes, oranges or pineapples, among other fruits you'll find from vendors along the country roads. Since we are steps away from the lake,you can enjoy fishing from our private dock, kayaking and paddle boarding . For those who seek an adventure or like to exercise, mountain biking or an early jog are great choices to boost your day. To sparkle your evenings, we suggest a nice wine near the fire pit, while listening to the singing of the 'Coquis', an endemic tiny frog and cultural symbol of Puerto Rico. While in the area, you can plan your visit to many tourist attractions known nearby, that will make your vacation a very exciting and special one. The Caguana Indigenous Ceremonial Park is one of the most popular attractions in Puerto Rico. Here, you will learn about our ancestors, the 'Tainos' indians. archeologist have uncoverd many artifacts, petroglyphs, monoliths, and stone-lined areas that show evidence of occupation which may date from the year 1000-1100ad, to the beginning of the 15TH century. This spirited and mystical museum-park is said to be one of the most important Taino-Culture archeological sites in the antilles today. The Batey Zipline Adventure Park, is another way to explore nature while experiencing a day full of adventure like hiking, rappelling, underground river caves or horseback ridding. Besides the Caonillas Lake, Utuado also features the Dos Bocas Lake. As you reach the main dock (embarcadero), you may choose a free scenic boat ride that will take you to the restaurants and enjoy the delicious puerto rican cuisin. Puerto Rico is also famous for its coffee, so we suggest a visit to Hacienda San Pedro, a coffee plantation in the nearby town of Jayuya. And of course, in Utuado you will find supermarkets, pharmacies, gas station, bakeries, banks and other business location for your convenience.

Since the lake has steep shores and rocks in the bottom, diving in to the lake is something we do not encourage our guest's to do, for their own safety!

They clean the homes before you arrive, cook meals when requested, and truly help create the “culture” of your home when you need something. I am not usually in town, but I'd love meeting and spending time with you when I am. I am always a text or call away!

Our neighborhood is just that; A community of people coming together looking out for one another, and very open to welcoming travelers from all around the world. Many of the locals that you'll meet in this this area don't travel much, so it is just as exciting for them to meet you as it is for you to meet them. Everyone I know is very giving, loving, genuine and humble, which is one of the many things that makes you fall in love with our beautiful island. I grew up visiting these lovely mountains with these amazing locals, and it's an honor and a privilege for me to share this part of the Island with you.

- "Excellent all-around. Outstanding lodging, host, location, facilities, cleanliness, safety, setting, privacy, etc. I could not have been more pleased. Beautiful part of Puerto Rico, a tropical paradise in the mountains, and a good base for exploring the rest of the island. I plan to return. I highly recommend that visitors explore outside of San Juan, and the prettiest beaches are elsewhere. I would give the lodge and the host an A+." - "The view was as spectacular as advertised. We rented the entire place and had plenty of space for 20 people, mostly adults. This was a super peaceful space for sunrises and sunsets. The swimming hole and waterfall is a bit of a trek downhill, which was a huge hit for the under 50 outdoorsy crowd but not really accessible for the injured and older members of the group. The road up is well paved but quite windy and narrow in places. Having dinner cooked and delivered by locals worked quite well. They were able to accommodate vegan and vegetarians in our groups as well as a nut allergy without a fuss. It made it super easy and no one had to drive up the windy road at night. The kitchen was also sufficiently stocked with pots, pans, appliances, etc. to cook for the group. Overall, recommended for a large group looking for a low-key spot with great views and quiet mornings."

Country Place in the mountains where the cities and nightlife are at least an hour and a half away. Your casa awaits you high in the central mountains of Utuado, Puerto Rico complete with panoramic views surrounded by lush greenery, flowers, tropical fruits, and plants. A breadfruit tree (pana), papaya, starfruit, bananas, oranges, plantains, and more are all on this property next to the expansive tiled and furnished terrace with a wood-burning fireplace overlooking the grand view. You can watch hawks swooping down to catch a meal and hear the Puerto Rican Owl warbling in the night. Be entertained by scampering lizards catching bugs. Ferdy is the friendly caretaker who can provide you with firewood for the 🔥 fireplace for a reasonable fee. Or bring your own charcoal available at Flamboyan grocery in Angeles.

You may also enjoy cooling dips in the unheated pool and plan your outings while swaying in a hammock in the gazebo or on the terrace. Coffee plantations are nearby or Camuy Caverns and Guanataca Forest with nicely maintained trails and a small cave is in the area too. Tour companies nearby offer more. Angeles, 5 Km. away on P.R.-602 has a small grocery store (Flamboyan) that sells charcoal and most supplies one might want and an ATM. You will come across 2 bakeries, a couple of restaurants, and a weekend rotisserie selling great chicken and yummy creamy yuca ( a must-try dish)! Lares on P.R. 111 is 30 minutes away featuring bigger stores and the best "under the green bridge food truck selling "stuffed potatoes and frappes we have ever had!! A minute or two away on the same road is a small local eatery that has great Lechon (roast suckling pig) with all the traditional sides. Upon a hill on route 111 is a string of special food vendors selling good food; we like the PIZZA baked over a wood fire at the end. Most eateries are open Thursday through Sunday.

This is a typical country home but with many more features than most homes found here in the area. You will have a tranquil and relaxing stay away from the hustle and bustle of the hot cities. The temperatures on the shaded terrace and at night are 70 ° F ...You will only need a light sweater in the evening and perhaps a cheery fire in the fireplace. Hurricane Maria left lots of firewood that Ferdy can bring to you upon request.
Wal-Mart and other big-box stores are at least 45 minutes away. Good beaches and sport fishing are 1&1/2 hours away but you can fit those activities in when you plan 4 or more days therefore be prepared to relax and restore yourselves on one of the best country holidays of your lives.
Please do your research on what type of vacation and what region you want to be in to be certain this is for you. Water and electrical service do get interrupted occasionally in Puerto Rico. All roads are paved but if curvy and narrow country roads with occasional potholes and randomly parked vehicles and horseback riders bother you THEN DON'T COME.
Nightlight here is relaxing with a good book you brought or one of ours ...playing a game or good conversation. You can relax in the gazebo or in the unheated pool and connected spa.

The roads were definitely narrow in spots, luckily we were warned, and advised not to drive at night. Water pressure was great. Views were amazing. Covered terrace was perfect during rainstorms. Casa Sabana is a large and modern home on top of the clouds! Each bedroom has it’s own Mini split AC unit for comfortable sleeping conditions. There is plenty of space for large groups or spending time with a small family and friends. There are 3 beautiful acres to explore and harvest your own tropical fruit when in season. There are many terrace’s and dining area’s to choose from for gathering and relaxing. The large terrace has breathtaking views and 5 hammocks for relaxing and taking in the magnificent nature that surrounds you. There is a beautiful spring at the bottom of the 3 acres with small waterfalls and pools for cooling off. It is a beautiful, but challenging hike. You will find tropical flowers, fruit (when in season) and magical trees on this path, so take your time and enjoy! The house is located about 15 minutes from town,. The roads are paved and safe but you do have to drive up the mountain to get the views. We have a working 24 hour security camera aimed at the driveway and front gate for your safety. Also an outdoor security camera aimed towards the road at the rear of the property so that you are safely protected 24/7.

- "We had a great 2 night stay and wished we had more time! Christina was an excellent host! I reached out to her several times and she was always readily available. She even delivered dinner our first night! The house is literally on top of the clouds, but is easily accessible. The roads felt safe and we didn't have any difficulty navigating them in a sedan. The hardest part was remembering which turns to take (Google Maps wasn't cooperating), but Christina and her husband helped us every time! The home itself is clean and very roomy. Our favorite place was outside on the upstairs balcony, The kids even slept in the hammocks. The home is surrounded by nature and tropical plants and trees. My husband loved all the fruit growing on the property. Christina left us avocados, bananas and guaba (super yummy)! We also enjoyed our hike to the small spring. The caretaker was kind and oriented us. The major downside is there are no screens and no glass windows, just solid wood shutters. There is no light, no outside air and no view when they are closed. At night the shutters must be closed for bugs and you’re completely shut in. During the day the shutters can be opened but some mosquitos come in and it gets hot. Air conditioning worked but was quite noisy. It is near the river and if you’re wondering, there is no access to the river from the property. Unfortunately the photos in this listing when we rented showed screen doors which have since been removed. We were offered a 10% discount since the house was not found as pictured. "

- "So happy we were the first ones to stay at this new cabin rental. The area is beautiful and the sunsets were gorgeous. we couldn’t have been happier with our stay. The cabin is so cozy with a very spacious outdoor fully equipped kitchen. The bed was super comfy and the AC was very cold. We loved watching the sheep grazing on the property. The owners even offer private tours of various places. My only regret is not planning to spend more time here during our Puerto Rico trip. Utuado itself is underrated, this spot was a perfect spot to stay!"

- "Place is as advertised but only more beautiful in person. Great spot to unwind & relax listening to the river water. The river had a couple of small lovely waterfalls & we appreciated enjoying the river after a hot day. The cabin is very cozy & comfortable. The host were very friendly & informative.We went on the tour the hosts offer and had an amazing experience. Will definitely be back and definitely will stay longer. Highly recommend!"

- "Beautiful property with an amazing atmosphere. We did have a difficult time with communication prior to check in, as the host didn't reply to several messages about how to get in over the 24 hours before our check in. We thankfully just drove to the property early and ran into the cleaner to get in. We also had to pester them for the wifi info. There was no "welcome book" as many places have with info about cleaning, wifi, or local attractions. The kitchen was sparse as far as dishware and we had a breif power outage during our stay, but the bubble itself was everything we could have wanted. Very secluded and it couldn't have been more beautiful. My other note is that even with 4 wheel drive, getting to the actual bubble would be very difficult by car. Otherwise you have to park at the top of the property and take a pretty steep hike down, which was fairly tricky with luggage."

"Refugio" is a one-of-a-kind off-grid mountain hideaway! The Epic Mountain Jungle Casita, dubbed "the coffee house," is a historic coffee processing mill located near the top of a mountain on an old coffee plantation, with expansive views, fresh air, blue skies, pure mountain spring water, and an assortment of in-season tropical fruits. It has been completely renovated and turned into a comfortable, tranquil space. The property encompasses 40 acres but is surrounded by hundreds of acres of pristine jungle and mountain ridges along with miles of hiking trails with some of the most scenic views in all of Puerto Rico.

In the fall of 2024, we completed a new covered rooftop terrace for additional relaxation space and nature watching enjoyment, as well even more opportunities to take in panoramic views of the valley (and ocean) below, and our epic sunsets. The terrace includes a small dinette, a hammock, and a place to lounge, all tucked behind a privacy screen.

The Casita has a window fan (average temps are about 72 and pleasant year around), and features a queen bed, a private bathroom with a window looking off a lovely jungle valley, a small desk, and a small kitchenette with everything you need to cook full meals: a microwave, induction burner, toaster oven, instant pot, air fryer, blender, and an apartment-sized refrigerator.

The Casita is surrounded by herb gardens and banana trees, along with many opportunities to commune in nature on designated chairs and benches scattered throughout the property.

Note: The Coffee House is located in very close proximity to a larger Cottage that is also rented, but still offers plenty of privacy in your outdoor rooftop terrace. There may be other guests during your visit depending on whether the other unit is booked. And the hosts will also be sharing some of the same outdoor spaces and occasionally walking by your rental unit . If you are looking for absolute privacy with no hosts or staff on hand, please consider booking a different location.

Enjoy access to any outdoor spaces including patios and gardens, nature trails, and about 5 miles in hiking trails that are only for use by property guests.

Our property is remote and ideally suited to guests who are looking to unplug, commune with nature, find spiritual and emotional healing (inquire about our many therapeutic services), and/or guests who also want to explore some of the nearby attractions, like the well-known Canyon Blanco, or Tanama River. There’s also the option of booking one of our guided experiences to a special off-the-beaten-path adventure. Our property includes several miles of epic self-guided hiking trails. In order to take full advantage of our property and surrounding attractions, we encourage guests to book 3 nights or more when possible.

The town of Utuado is about 30 minutes away by car on a narrow, winding road and we are located at the end of a steep 1/2 mile dirt road. We will meet you at the start of our neighborhood and then we will transport you from a parking location near the start of our property to the house if you do not have AWD/4WD. When renting a car, it's helpful to at least have a car with front wheel drive. Once you are here though, you'll literally feel like you are in paradise!

We are located about an hour and 45 minutes from either the San Juan airport or the Aguadilla airport and we are about one hour driving distance both Arecibo and Poncé. We can arrange airport transfers for a fee, either from the airport or to your next destination on the island.
