It has fantastic surf for surfing and swimming and islands to walk to and explore at low tides a stones throw away. If fishing and diving is your thing the ocean offers all this and more. Two golf courses in the town cater for the novice and the enthusiast . A 9 hole course in town and a 18 hole course on the towns outskirts give you all the challenges you need for a golfing holiday at the beach. Surrounded by forestry and boasting lots of newly formed mountain bike tracks this is the place where you must bring your mountain bike. Wentworth Valley Waterfalls is a beautiful bush walk which attracts plenty of hikers each year to enjoy the stunning scenery and waterfalls. The sheltered harbour and estuary offers safe swimming or a place to learn to windsurf , water ski or paddle your stand up paddle board or canoe .If you forget your equipment or don't have it you can always hire it in town. The Whangamata Bar is a world class left hand surf break which has attracted surfers to the town since the 1960's.

The Estuary Store is just a short stroll away for those summer ice creams or fish and chips.

It has a north facing deck, which is partly covered and enjoys peep views of the ocean, while the southern deck captures the afternoon sun for those cocktails.

The main bed is a super king Sleepyhead Commercial with two electric blankets and a comfortable mattress topper - so so comfortable.
Second bed is a brand new Sleepyhead Queen size.

Guest access
You are welcome to explore all our grounds so don't be shy and take an apple, nectarine plum, fig, orange, mandarin, lemon, or lime from the orchard in season.

We also have another apartment upstairs which is a mirror image that can be made available if you require the entire building at additional costs and then you could house as many as 8 people.

If you are booking over the Xmas period it is possible that we may have family in the upstairs apartment but under strict instruction to not disturb the occupants of the lower apartment. Ordinarily we do not let out to upstairs apartment when there are guests below. However if someone wants to take both apartments to suit a group of up to 8 people we will let the whole building.

During your stay at the studio, you are most welcome to use the shared pool and shared spa-pool that overlooks the beautiful blue waters of Whangamata.
This compact and cozy accommodation is semi-self-contained, offering your own private entrance, studio bedroom with king bed, separate living/dining area, your own bathroom with toilet and shower, plus a kitchenette with tea & coffee making facilities, small fridge/freezer, toaster and microwave. Whilst there are no cooking facilities, you have your own Weber BBQ - it's only a 3 minute drive to town centre where you will find an abundance of restaurants, takeaways and cafe's.
There is one parking space allocated in the shared driveway.
The owners occupy the main home, and there is also the Beverley Hills Cottage on-site that may be occupied by guests during your stay. The only facilities that are shared are the swimming pool and spa pool.
The beach is only 2.5kms away - or no more than 4 minutes by car.

Welcome to The Blue House! It is less than 100m from the door to beautiful Whangamata beach with no roads to cross.

The Blue House is full of NZ bach character, but has modern extras to help you enjoy your holiday (including a dishwasher, instant hot water and fibre internet).

Upstairs there are ocean glimpses from the lounge and the front part of the large deck. At the back, the deck has been extended to provide great space for family BBQs. Upstairs, in addition to the large lounge, there is separate kitchen / dining, two bedrooms (a queen and a double) and a bathroom with new, modern shower.

Downstairs there is a games room including darts board and TV. Plus another queen bedroom, the bunk room with lots of space for the kids and the second bach style bathroom combined with the laundry.

With this much space, the house works really well for two families. You can relax on the deck and watch the kids enjoy the flat backyard.

The fibre internet connection and individual spaces also makes it possible for any working adults to get their work done and then join in the fun.

When you arrive on the beach you will be at Clark Island which is beautiful to visit by wading across at low tide. Turn left and you will be walking towards the Surf Club, swimming flags and bigger surf. Turn right and you'll be in the quieter, generally calmer, end of the beach. A 5 minute drive or easy, flat bike ride will get you to the Estuary, Harbour or town.

Guests: We want you to enjoy our bach as much as we do and it works well for two families with kids. We'll leave you some beach toys and do everything we can to make it fun! However, this is a family property. No large gatherings are permitted and adults who book the property are to be present at all times. There are no additional guests permitted and no tents / caravans. Our permanent neighbours are in close proximity and must be respected. Thanks for making sure you're the right fit for our bach so everyone can enjoy themselves.

The second bedroom has a single bed with a pull out single underneath giving you the option of creating a double. The sleep out has been recently renovated and has a set of single bunks as well as a double bed. The kitchen is fully kitted out with everything you'll need (including a wine fridge). There's a smart TV and wireless internet so you will be connected! The outside shed houses a washing machine. Set on a large section, there's a sunny deck and large gas bbq with a pizza making attachment. Life is good at the beach and it's easy living at this super cute beach cottage + sleep out.

The house is elevated overlooking the estuary with views of Whangamata town and ocean in the distance. It's a 15-20 minute picturesque walk to the township where there is a selection of quality cafes, bars and food outlets.
The room has its own entrance and bthrm in a well kept garden setting. It is comfortably furnished with good quality linen.
There is a fridge, jug, crockery and utensils in the room to make tea/coffee and enjoy meals brought in. Breakfast is not provided.

The space
Unlimited broadband is provided free of charge. There is a television in the guest room and wardrobe space to store bags and hang clothes.
Also, there is seating outside the room within the garden setting. Guests are more than welcome to wander around the garden and take in the wonderful views of the township.

The open plan studio is spacious and you will feel very comfortable. It has a kitchenette with microwave, but no other cooking facilities. A toaster, jug, coffee plunger and complimentary tea, coffee, hot chocolate and sugar are there for your convenience. There are ample plates, cereal bowls, glasses, mugs, microwave dishes, platters and cutlery. In the fridge are condiments (jam, marmite, margarine, tomato sauce) and milk for your arrival.

Guests have access to the studio apartment and bathroom only.
For guests staying for more than three days, access to the owners' washing machine will be available upon request.

One queen bed in bedroom alcove, and one fold out couch in lounge (this is probably best suited to children, as the mattress is thin): please bring all your own bedding and linen- sheets, blankets, pillows and towels.
Can sleep up to 4 inside, and section is perfect for tents for extras. (Nightly fee is for 4 occupants, and extras are $20 each per night)
Bathroom with toilet, vanity, shower and washing machine (no dryer). Please note the shower requires stepping up into, as it is raised off the floor.
Heat Pump for heating and cooling, bi-fold doors and ranch sliders mean you can open the place right up and let the warm sunshine and cool breeze in.

Guest access
Whole space is available for guests own use, except back shed. Bach is located down driveway, behind gate (lift gate off and on block to open and close). Please bring cars in past gate and don't park on the concrete drive.

Our place is a friendly Bed & Breakfast style homestay which we share with our three exuberant and active dogs. We are close to surf and swimming beaches & parks. We provide a continental breakfast to be enjoyed in our dining area.
During Beach Hop & Kickdown events guests may have the use of our garage for their vehicle.
Kitchen facilities & Laundry are NOT available to guests.

We have recently rehomed a Siberian Husky and our Dalmatian and our other rescue dog share our home and will greet you with an initially noisy but friendly welcome. Our newly rehomed siberian and our rescue dog are still adapting so guests must be very comfortable with large dogs.
