All personnel was so kind and friendly! They always accommodate all our requests and needs during our stay without a flaw. Place itself is gorgous and relaxing. We always saw families of deers. Horseback riding is great as well. Scheduling time is 10am and 3pm. Our group had absolute beginners and people who were grown up with horses. Our ride was very smooth and relaxing. There are many little hikes around. But we'd chosen to drive 1 hour to Maple loop hike (stunning views!), Ross lake , and Diablo lake with emerald, teal color--unbelievable! Regarding, COVID, all people on hikes and in the lodge were in masks. Dining is fully available for ordering and picking up. Very pleasant trip and stay. We hope to come back."

Guest Reviews:

- "It was a pretty unique experience. I liked a lot of things about this place. At least it had a porta potty type, bathroom close and a real bathroom farther away" - "This is great weekend getaway. Quiet and serene." - "Quite and relaxing. Very comfortable. Look forward to staying again when I return to Winthrop." - "I had wanted to stay here for a while and finally had the opportunity in mid October. Definitely a shoulder season for the area, I was the only one there for most of my stay. Even so, the facilities were clean and well maintained and the quietness provided exactly what I was looking for. The huts are well situated overlooking an empty field with a view to help provide a sense of solitude. The cabins themselves are beautifully designed, yet spartan. They strike an interesting balance of outdoorsy, rustic living (no sink with the water supply outside), with modern conveniences (there's a small fridge, microwave and hot water kettle). One supplies their own sleeping bag, but the bed pad is memory foam. There is an outdoor chemical toilet on each hut, yet there's also comfortable washrooms with showers in the nearby barn on the property. Firewood for the stove is provided, and there's a thermostat controlled unit-heater in the wall, so one doesn't have to worry about waking up in below-zero temperatures. Also on the property is a restaurant and store, but it appeared closed for the season. A pay phone is there as cel. reception is patchy. Check-in/out was straightforward, with some simple rules upon leaving (take out the trash to the bin). It took a little getting used to the rustic approach (not quite camping but kind of) but I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. I'm not sure how busy or noisy it might be during peak season, but I'm looking forward to staying here again."

The house is new construction, very cute, and nicely put together. It was one of the cleanest properties I've ever stayed in, thoughtfully outfitted for guests, even down to fancily-folded towels. The house is an easy, pleasant walk (maybe 10 minutes) along a non-motorized path and bridge to downtown Winthrop, and conveniently located for other activities in the region. We'd be thrilled to come back and stay again."

Guest Reviews:

- "This is by far the most well-equipped rental that I have ever stayed in, and the items were well laid out. This is a beautiful property and very secluded. I didn’t see a person all week unless I went to town. The 4/5 on check-in should probably be a 4.5/5, I missed the note on using instructions sent so I was using GPS. But the support team was onsite in ten minutes after being engaged and they were super helpful and very friendly. I only have three very small notes: because I’m a project manager with an engineering brain. The fan in the master clicks, so probably just needs some screws tightened. The batteries in the TV remote died so some spare AA and AAA batteries would have been great. A heads up about the mosquitoes or maybe even spray/lotion/roll-on would have been nice. Like I say, small things so I highly recommend this place."

- "Stayed here for our honeymoon and thoroughly enjoyed it. Nice place and beautiful views." - "Rain's End provided us a very relaxing weekend getaway with all the amenities you could need. Very clean and comfortable with a great view. The only issue we had was an odd one. The toilets were so high off the ground they were difficult to use and the stool provided was flimsy and tipped over easily. While my husband had no trouble, my height was a disadvantage. Toilet trouble aside, we had a great weekend!"

- "Nice new very clean, spacious everything you would need. Comfortable bed." - "Very nice and new." - "Beautiful cabin, very clean, great location and loved that they had electric car chargers. It would have been nice to have 2 showers as we had 2 couples staying there." - "wonderful, relaxing 3 nights. great hosts!" - "We really enjoyed our stay at the Sunflower Resort. Our unit was comfortable and clean. Very conveniently located to downtown Winthrop . The kitchen was well-equipped although I would prefer an actual coffee machine as opposed to the drip/thermos method provided. It was a great place to stay with dogs. Be aware that tv is streaming only. We didn’t have our id or passwords so felt frustrated not having tv access.. also it would be helpful to have reading lights in the bedroom and couch in the living room.."

- "This was the perfect spot for our family of four and small dog to stay and enjoy the cute town of Winthrop and nearby Mazama! The hosts have supplied the kitchen and bathroom well and the beds were incredibly comfortable! My kids loved the HUGE tub! The grocery store is a 2 minute drive away if you forget anything or don’t want to bring all of your food with you. We easily walked to town and to the nearby sculpture park. The gorgeous setting cannot be beat! The hosts were friendly and communicated all needed info. The home was super dog friendly, with a dog bed, bowls and waste bags at the ready! We would definitely stay again!"

Guest Reviews:

- "Tranquil and quiet. Short drive in to Winthrop so was convenient. We’d definitely recommend this unique property!" - "The house was wonderful. Very unique built. Loved the mountain modern mid century feel, massive natural wooden ceiling beams, large windows and asphalt, or not sure what to call it, flooring. It felt so good on the feet and I am sure they are very practical too. Seems to me that the house was designed to control the temperature naturally, it did work, the temperature in the house was great, not hot not cold, maybe we just hit the perfect temperature season, but no complaints. The house was clean and well stocked with dishes, we had everything we needed. We had dinner outside every night, love that wooden dining table, the views from the house are nice. There is a bench just up the hill to enjoy sunsets. My husband and I went up there, and he whispered "oh look, a bear, and it turned out to be a cow :)))) in the neighbors field. Wish we enjoyed the house more, i didn't discover how nice the hammock was until our last night there. It really is a nice setting, cool and fun house. Though we spent most of the time hiking and driving around. Mazama is the closest town to some really nice hikes. We did Maple pass, it was great, heard some marmots whistling, the views are amazing. Went to Blue Lake and saw goats with their baby goats, did the Ross dam, Thunder Knob. The weather didn't cooperate for Easy pass, (maybe next time) but it is also closer to Mazama then the other side. Loved the western feel of Mazama and Winthrop, highly recommend this house or if not available at least this side of the mountains. We did go to the West side and it just wasn't as special. If we ever come back I would love to stay in this house again and maybe come in July to see wildflowers in bloom."

- "My spouse, her brother, and I stayed at Balsam for three nights, and we enjoyed it immensely. The property was accurately described, the beds were comfortable, and everything worked really well. The wi-fi was pretty fast, which was an improvement over many other properties at which we stayed. The A/C is a ductless heat pump that kept the main living area very comfortable in 100 degree heat. We set up the fan that was provided to blow cool air into the bedroom furthest away, and it worked well. The main bathroom was pretty awesome, with both a soaking tub and a shower. The kitchen was well-supplied with cookware. We appreciated the easy access to a walking trail that allowed us to get to downtown Winthrop in about 15 minutes, and to get to the Thriftway in about 10 minutes (and I'm a slow walker). We've stayed in Winthrop several times, and I think that this is the nicest place in which we've stayed. I would recommend it."

- "We liked this place a lot. Well kept and clean. A little confusing upon arrival. There is an adjoining suite attached to it. The doors were open so both of the suites were open. The ad for our suite only mentioned the beds / bath on our side, but also says you get the entire floor. We just locked the adjoining door and stayed to the one side."

Guest Reviews:

- "We've stayed at the Bend in the River cabin before, but have never used the 2-bedroom lodge option. We were happy to find this option was just as comfortable and easy to use! The huge basement with laundry, ping pong, and cozy beanbag chairs was perfect for our teenage son, and the kitchen was equipped for everything we needed. We also appreciated how streamlined the check-in and checkout processes were, and the convenient location of the property between Winthrop and the Rendezvous skiing trails."
