We live in a smaller home in a neighborhood surrounded by trees. We have a lab mix dog, a cat, and six chickens.
Private entrance, water view from your bed, dock, covered porch, and 10 minute drive to downtown Beaufort. Good for solo adventurers, couples, business travelers.
We have a heavily treed and vegetated yard. We do not use pesticides or herbicides, and the yard is far from manicured.
Our home is not a McMansion, as you will see when you drive into the neighborhood.

The space
Our space is a bedroom and bathroom in our house on the Newport River, and has a water view with a private entrance. Guests may use our dock during most of the year, but now we have ospreys nesting and we are not going out to the end of the dock because the osprey parents are feeding their chicks and are quite protective. You can walk out as far as the chair blocking access to the end and see the nest from there.

Guests have access to their bedroom and bathroom and have a private outside entrance. Guests may use the kayaks with permission. We live in the rest of the house and work during the week. We are in and out and may be working in the house or yard. There is an uninhabited island behind our house that can be explored.

During your stay
We are busy and both work, but we will share information about the area and recommend things to do if guests have questions. We will give guests privacy.

Other things to note
Our house is older, somewhat hidden by trees and shrubs, and not as large as some of the houses in the neighborhood. We are biologists and do not use herbicides in our yard, because we live on the Newport River and do not want to harm the estuarine flora and fauna.
Additionally, life on the coast means lots of things, including bugs and that includes cockroaches. We use non toxic methods but you may encounter some, especially on the porch at night.

The Little Lime is a wonderfully renovated garage apartment. Enjoy keyless entry and no shared spaces for a completely self-contained stay.

The space
Our home is nestled on a quiet, shady street adjacent to the Bogue Sound. Surrounded by trees, it’s regularly filled with the sounds of birdsong. We hope you’ll enjoy the setting as much as we do, and location-wise, it’s hard to beat:
- 5 minutes to Morehead City
- 15 minutes to Atlantic Beach
- 20 minutes to Fort Macon
- 20 minutes to Emerald Isle
- 20 minutes to historic downtown Beaufort

You will share a clean and spacious bathroom with us, my fiancé and me. The bathroom has a double sink and a large soaking tub/shower. Enjoy the added convenience of a half bath located in the laundry room.

During your stay, please take advantage of the shared kitchen, as well as the living and indoor dining areas. There is also a beautiful shared backyard area, complete with a patio, charcoal grill, fire bowl, and outdoor dining area. There is also an on-site washer and dryer available for your use.

There will be no other short-term rental guests, just us and one roommate across the hall. He occupies the master bedroom, so he has his own bathroom; in other words, you will not need to share a bathroom with him, as well.

We do have a dog (pictured on the patio). She is an 11-year old English Lab/Beagle mix. She may be leery of you at first, but she will warm up to you quickly. She is not, however, the most well-behaved little lady when it comes to other dogs, and for that reason, we do not permit other dogs/pets. Thank you for understanding.

Ann Street residence. 1-block to waterfront walking path w/ views of Rachel Carson Estuarine Research Reserve & Taylor's Creek. You have the entire upstairs floor w/ 2 bedrooms, living room and dining area. Just 0.9 miles from the Beaufort downtown area w/ shopping, dining & pubs. There's a fenced in yard for furry family members. I also have several kayaks you can borrow but you will need a way to transport them. Note: There is an internal stairway that connects the two floors.

You have the entire second floor to yourself with your own outside entrance but there is an inside stairwell connecting the two floors.



Kayaks: I have a 2 person sit inside kayak you can borrow along the waterfront and several 1 person sit on top kayaks at the house. Please note: I may not be available to help you get them to and from the water but you're welcome to borrow them. I keep them outside where you can get to them and paddles/personal flotation devices are inside the garage. I can direct you to them but just give me a little time to respond when trying to plan your outing. The day before is preferred.

Dining area: 4 person table, coffee maker, microwave and dorm sized fridge w/ room for a half gallon carton of milk or juice.
Living Space: There is a comfy couch and coffee table. TV is streaming through a 55" Roku TV that has a DVD/Blueray player; Netflix, Amazon Prime accounts already linked. I do have streaming Spectrum cable TV with the main channels such as networks, ESPN, etc, but hopefully you are enjoying what's outside of the house more than what's on the tube. . Network channels can also be accessed through streaming options or Wi-Fi.

Cooking/Pots/pans: If you need any items for cooking just let me know, a day ahead of time, if possible. There is a functional visual and sound barrier (cellar style door) that I've constructing on the stairwell to give a little more privacy and keep sound from travelling between the floors. I will not venture upstairs unless requested by the guest. I am sociable but respect the experience the guest wants to have during their stay in my home.

Guest access
You are welcome to keep the gate closed to allow your pet(s) to go out for easy trips to the bathroom. I ask that you clean-up after your pet (I have some plastic bags provided upstairs on the door handle. You can dispose in the outside trash can.

Other things to note
PETS: I charge $50/stay for pets. I like offering my place to those with pets but it does cost me business for those with allergies. Ask me about accessing the rest of the yard through the second gate the keeps my dog from getting to the small guest patio and yard or the stairs that go up to your space. I want you to have a safe and enjoyable stay with your pets.

I prefer to keep my pup separate from guest dogs for safety reasons. My dog is very friendly but plays hard so I prefer to keep them separate.

Note: I only allow pets that have proof of current rabies vaccinations. Pets must not be left unattended in the fenced in yard. This is to prevent damage to my garden, plants, etc. Pets can be crated when left unattended inside the house. I have a large crate available already inside the home that was originally purchased for a large black lab and it can be set up for the guests to use that do not have their own crate. Please bring your own pet bedding, water and food bowls.

Whether you're a solo traveler, a couple seeking a romantic getaway or a small family in need of a vacation that doesn't break the bank, our place is the ideal place for you. Our unit is completely updated and is one of the nicest units at Bogue Shores. We provide linens, towels & essentials plus beach chairs, umbrella, soft cooler, boogie boards and a beach cart. Access the beach using the lighted crosswalk at the front of the complex.

The space
The pool is open from Memorial Day through Labor Day, has a deep end and a separate wading pool for children.
We have a nice picnic area at the rear of the complex with a gazebo, porch swings, picnic tables, grills and a large grassy play area. High speed Wifi, cable TV & Apple TV is provided.

Guest access
You will have complete access to everything in the condo and all complex amenities. No elevator, you must climb one set of stairs to access unit. HOA does not allow guests to bring boats.

Other things to note
There is so much to do in the area besides going to the beach. Pine Knoll Shores Aquarium and historic Fort Macon are just up the road. There are lots of good restaurants all over. Beaufort offers fine dining, historic homes, museums, shopping and ferries to Shackelford Banks and other island fun spots. You will not be bored.
