The Mountain House is a large, beautifully appointed chalet with wonderful views of the Mont Blanc massif. It has six bedrooms and beds for 14 people plus a sofa bed.
You can walk the 800m to the ski lifts, drive, or take the free shuttle bus that stops 100m from the chalet. It's a two minute walk to a charming restaurant serving pizzas and other meals, and a quiet 10-15 minute walk to the middle of Les Contamines-Montjoie village with its shops, restaurants, bars, mini-supermarkets.
The Mountain House is furnished it to a very high standard to provide a luxurious setting for a perfect alpine holiday. The large main room, with its double-height ceiling and giant deer antler* chandelier, has windows on three sides giving wonderful views, and a huge (3m long) and very solid oak table that comfortably seats 12 people - many more at a push! The other half of this room is a lovely cosy area with a corner sofa and two armchairs, all arranged around the large curved-glass wood-burning stove. There's a 49" wall-mounted 4K TV in the main room, and a Bluetooth enabled Onkyo amp connected to floor-standing KEF speakers.
The Mountain House has a separate TV room/ snug with another 49" wall-mounted 4K TV, a super-comfortable corner sofa. This works particularly well as a place for the kids to retreat to after dinner, allowing the adults a quieter time around the large oak table or the wood burning stove in the main room.
The kitchen is lovely and bright with floor-to-ceiling windows on one side and wide open views of the mountains. It has two Bosch ovens, a large fridge-freezer, a dishwasher and everything you'll want for cooking and eating in style. We keep the kitchen well-stocked with herbs and spices, cookings oils, coffee and tea etc so it's a great place for preparing and serving large meals in style. .
Les Contamines-Montjoie is a charming unspoiled Haute Savoie village and a fantastic place for skiing and boarding. There's 120km of pistes catering for all abilities, and lots of accessible and fun off-piste between the pistes. Its snow record is the best in the Chamonix valley and the ski domain has stunning views of the Mont Blanc massive including of the summit of Mont Blanc itself. Yet compared to better known ski resorts, is it never crowded.
For the spring and summer, the Mountain House has a large sunny garden, a south-facing terrace with a 10-seater table, a Weber gas BBQ, a second large outdoor table in the garden, and several sun loungers. There are endless options nearby for walking, cycling, swimming, mountaineering, climbing etc, or relaxing, reading, eating and drinking.
The beds and mattresses are all super-comfortable, and the duvets and pillows are 100% goose down and feather. All bed linen is crisp percale cotton. Three of the bedrooms have either super king or king size beds; one room has bunk beds plus two additional singles; one has bunk beds plus one additional single; and the 6th bedroom has just one single bed. This 6th bedroom is a small room but it has a large window, plenty of shelves, a bedside table and lamp and a comfortable new bed and mattress. All the bedrooms have Cambridge Audio Bluetooth speakers.
There is a large double garage that can comfortably take a car and still leave plenty of room for skiing and boarding equipment, and there's parking for two more cars outside. The Mountain House has a large capacity washing machine and a large capacity clothes drier.
Children are very welcome. The Mountain House has three cots and three high chairs.
This listing is for the main chalet which comprises two-thirds of a very large (320m2) building that also includes a self-contained two-bedroom apartment and a self-contained one-bedroom apartment. The building was designed by an architect as a family home and has always included these self-contained apartments. As such the spaces flow very nicely and when in the main chalet you are unaware of the apartments, which are separated by thick concrete walls. This listing also includes exclusive use of the chalet's garden and garage.
You enter the chalet on the middle floor, which includes a large main room with a double-height ceiling. Two of the six bedrooms (one with a super king bed and one with bunks plus two singles) are upstairs, and four are downstairs from this middle floor. This separation of sleeping spaces works really well for two families, offering each their separate space and privacy. In addition to the 6 bedrooms which provide beds for 14 people, there is a sofa-bed that folds out in to a double bed in the living room.
There is a shower room and WC upstairs, and two bathrooms (one en-suite) plus a separate WC downstairs. On the middle floor (the living area) there is also a separate WC.

- "We are a large family of mixed ages and skiing abilities. After trying to find a chalet big enough for us we came across this one! Wow!! What an amazing place!! The VRBO listing really doesn’t do it justice! It is perfect. Literally next door to the Telecabin and the end of the main ski run basically ends in the back garden!! Ski hire 5 mins walk (intersport) and supermarket even closer. Free bus stops outside to take you to main part of the village or you can walk there in 10 minutes. The chalet is perfect for large families or groups of friends, amazing views, balconies in most rooms and the living area on the top floor is just awesome. If we can get a big enough group together we will definitely be re booking. I just can’t fault it at all."

- "We have just returned from Les Contamines. There were 2 families (4 adults and 4 children) and the space was excellent. The children particularly enjoyed the table football and table tennis. The communal space in the kitchen, lounge and dining area was large enough to cater for all of us . The beds were comfortable and clean and the bathrooms were immaculate with the added bonus of a bath, which the children enjoyed on their return from skiing. The communication with the owners was fantastic, especially before our arrival. Upon arrival we had requested that we were going to be there in the morning,as we travelled through the night, so well before 5pm (check in time) and if it was possible to get in any earlier. Fortunately, the chalet manager called at 2:30 pm to say the chalet was ready. The welcome pack was informative, the WiFi worked well in the communal area but lacked strength in the bedrooms. The kitchen was well stocked but did not include a kettle. I would definitely recommend this chalet, it is large enough for a couple of families and well situated to ski at all the resorts on the Evasion ski pass."

The free ski-bus stops almost on the doorstep and the ski lifts are just a few minutes’ drive. In the summer months, walking, climbing, biking, tennis and lake swimming are just a few of the activities on offer and the famous walking tour around Mont Blanc passes directly through the village. The chalet also has a south-facing garden terrace, for those summer barbeques.

- "I would highly recommend this chalet." - "The house was located in a lovely area, right across from the bus stop, which takes you to the city center (it is tiny though). Getting around is very easy if you don't even have a car - we had two but by the second half of the week, we were not really using them. The house was in a very good shape, with big rooms and a very equipped kitchen. Communication was done seamless. A couple of things and suggestions; although there was a baby cot, there was not a baby mattress, so that was a bit difficult to deal with. The pillows are quite old so it was not very comfortable. I would highly recommend buying new ones. The cleaning of the house could have been done better (the floors, fridge tops etc. were still a bit dusty). But overall, if you are all about skiing and relaxing at the chalet after a day full of activity, this is a great choice! Would go back again."

- "This a perfect gem of a chalet. Tastefully decorated, well-equipped and with plenty of space to relax - even for a group of nine adults. The village and the ski lifts are short drive away and there is also a convenient bus route. For non-skiers there are plenty of options for walking /snow-shoeing (especially in the direction of Notre Dame de La Gorge). If you wish to venture further afield (either to ski or just to explore) St Gervais-les-Bains and Chamonix are not too far away. We were fortunate to have had beautiful weather all week so all options were open to us. We stayed in the chalet over New Year but I imagine that this is also a great place to be in summer. The owners were very helpful and responsive throughout the reservation and booking process. Their local property manager Aline met us when we arrived, ensured a warm welcome and was available to answer questions by phone /SMS throughout our stay. Highly recommended!"

Chalet Le Bambi is a luxury refurbished chalet completed in Summer 2011. It has 5 spacious bedrooms, a large open-plan living ding area of 50sqm, 3 full size bathrooms and a separate WC. Le Bambi's most exciting feature is its location - 100 meters to the ski lifts and next to an old ski run down to the village enabling you to ski home to the door. Fully refurbished in 2011 to the highest standard, Le Bambi has underfloor heating throughout the Chalet and a wood burning stove to ensure cozy evenings in. The views of Mont Joly, Dome de Miage, the village and ski run can be enjoyed from the floor to ceiling windows. There are double glass doors in the kitchen opening onto a large terrace which can be used for barbeques/outside dining once the weather improves! The chalet is perfect for a large family or two families as it has 3 bedrooms on the top floor and two on the lower floor with the kitchen/living area in between. Safety gates, high chair and cot available.

Newly renovated Ski Chalet: This beautiful chalet, located right by the ski lifts, offers the potential to ski to the door at the end of each day on the slopes. Renovated to the highest standard in 2010/2011 this property is only on the market for a few weeks each year. Located in Les Contamines, a beautiful traditional alpine resort which still retains its village atmosphere, it is just a short drive from the sparking lights of Megeve or the action of Chamonix. Les Contamines is part of the Evasion Ski area - a huge area of approx 445km of pistes. The chalet is a 10 minute walk into the centre of the village and there is a regular free shuttle bus during the winter which stops less than a minutes walk away. The main ski lift is less than a 100meters walk from the front door and it is possible to ski right into the back door of the chalet (off piste route). The chalet has lots of storage for skis and ski equipment and the wood burning stove is perfect to warm hands after a long day on the snow.

Family Friendly Chalet: Chalet Le Bambi is perfect for a family winter ski holiday or a summer time mountain escape. Les Contamines is know as a family friendly resort and caters perfectly for little people in the winter and the summer. The creche is only a 10 minute walk from the chalet and will take children on a weekly basic, half days or full days. The village is perfect for children in the summer with a fantastic park which includes a swimming lake with beach, a natural lake with pedal boats and fishing, tennis courts, crazy golf, trampolines, playground and a great high wire course. There is rock climbing close by, horse riding and biking and the village organises daily activities for children to take part in. The park is only a 15 minute walk from the chalet making it a perfect base.

Everything worked and it was great to be near the lifts and footpaths However - in Summer the nearby lift does not operate and the Gorge lift is thus a 1000 yard warmup walk. Kitchen - lovely. With a great opening sliding window - Televisions - Superb Lounge was excellent Bedrooms - slightly larger than some Chalets Showers excellent Boot room/Ski room terrific Play room - wow. And big with it. Outside - lovely to eat outside. Highly recommended"
