- "I had a really fantastic stay. Location is ideal for central Arundel and it’s just a ten minute walk from the train station. I had Room 15 on this trip. I previously had Room 6 last year in which I did prefer the layout, but on this trip I did have more space and a modern bathroom with a rainfall shower which was great. The bed was fantastic and the room was warm and cozy, the wifi was good too. The included breakfast is tremendous. The full English is probably the best I’ve had; every element was perfectly cooked. The eggs Benedict was also fantastic. There is also a great continental suggestion with fresh fruit and homemade yoghurt, some great pastries as well as cereals and fresh fruit juices. The evening food is good too. The staff I interacted with from check in to check out were all great. I was out all day Tuesday and requested some still water and teabags and got a lovely package of water, tea and a refill of chocolates once I’d returned. No complaints from me! "

Walberton itself has a variety of pretty period properties, a useful parade of shops and a picturesque village pond as well as the obligatory village pub. There is an annual festival which attracts visitors from all over the world. The many attractions at Goodwood, including the Festival of Speed and horse racing is only about 15 minutes' drive and there is also a race course at Fontwell, only 5 minutes' drive away. The cathedral city of Chichester with its varied shopping centre and Festival Theatre is about 15 minutes' drive. Brighton, Portsmouth and London are all easily accessible by rail or car. As well as having access to the downs within a few minutes' drive, the stunning coastline is only ten minutes' drive away, with the beach at Climping nearby. The sandy beach at West Wittering is about half an hour's drive.

Challenge Cottage, offered by Laura Lye Holiday Lets, is an appealing period holiday cottage close to Arundel Castle and the centre of town which sleeps 2-4 guests. The cottage is bursting with all the charm of a genuine 18th century cottage but has been carefully refurbished to be both pretty and comfortable.

Guests will enjoy the attractive living room with electric wood burner with flame and comfy seating for 4. There is a smart TV and wifi. The living room leads onto a country kitchen with oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher and washer/dryer. There is a small table in the kitchen which seats up to 4 guests. To the rear of the cottage the charming courtyard garden with outside seating area enables guests to enjoy the sunshine on a warm day.

Please be aware that Arundel cottages are notorious for quite steep stairs and this cottage is no exception…..and it also has slightly restricted head room right at the top of the second floor stairs. Therefore this cottage is not suitable for those with any sort of mobility issues and children under 12 are not allowed. No pets are allowed.

There is no private parking at the cottage but there are 1 hour parking spots directly opposite the cottage. For longer term parking there is a car park at the lido (less than a minute’s walk from the house) tucked away behind the houses opposite or if you prefer to park for free this can be done by parking on Mill Road beyond the castle.

There is so much to do in Arundel town itself that you will find that you don’t need a car unless you want to sightsee further afield. There is the majestic Arundel Castle to be explored as well as Arundel Cathedral, the museum, Arundel Lido, mini golf, tennis, bowls and river trips all within a 5 minute walk of Challenge Cottage. For those who enjoy shopping there are wonderful antique shops all over town and gift shops in both the High Street and Tarrant Street. Arundel is a favourite base for Goodwood Festival of Speed and Goodwood Revival.

There are an abundance of cafes and restaurants all within a few minutes’ walk and a fabulous deli and butcher just around the corner as well as a general provisions’ store a few doors down from the cottage.

Set on one of the prettiest roads in Arundel no 27 Maltravers is ideally located, being a few minutes’ walk from the centre of town. With old beams befitting its age, a working fireplace in the kitchen and a spacious south-facing terraced garden, this is the quintessential English country cottage. Superbly decorated and fitted out to a high standard, this family home not only offers comfort and style, but is also amazingly spacious for a two-bedroomed cottage and is a wonderful addition to the Laura Lye Holiday let portfolio of Arundel Cottages.

The large kitchen at the front of the house is well-equipped and has a working open fire. The French doors at the rear of the spacious living/dining room lead to the south-facing garden which gets sun for most of the day. The path to the side of the garden, separated from it by an ornate ironwork fence, leads to a twitten (rear passageway) to the town centre. Please note the garden is private but the pathway is also for the use of the next-door neighbour. There is a small drop of approximately a foot between terrace and path so do be aware of this if you are thinking of coming with very young children. The garden is terraced in stone and brick, is decorated with many ceramic pots, and has various levels, so guests should be aware that young children should be closely supervised.

Off the large landing upstairs are the two beautiful bedrooms and a family bathroom with bath and shower. The master bedroom has a super-king bed which can be split into two single beds and bedroom two has a double bed. Both rooms are charming and spacious and have a wonderful cottagey feel.

Well behaved dogs are welcome but they are not allowed on the furniture, upstairs or to be left unattended at the property. There is a charge of £27.50 per dog for stays up to 7 days and £27.50 for each subsequent week.

Please leave the house in a clean and tidy condition at the end of your stay with all washing up done and bins out. There is a travel cot at the house if you need one but you will need to bring all sheets and bedding to suit your baby.

This holiday home is absolutely phenomenal. The home was originally designed by Joseph Hansom who designed the Arundel Cathedral and mirrored his style in these three exquisite townhomes. From the back side of the property, the windows look up towards the grand cathedral on the top of the hill, and at night, the Cathedral is illuminated for guests to see!

The home comprises of 3 floors. The ground floor consists of the living room, dining room, kitchen and outdoor courtyard. There are many antique shops to be explored and for those who enjoy hiking there are magnificent country walks over the South Downs and along the beaches South Coast just a short drive away.

The front door opens directly into the large living room with two sofas, flat screen TV and open plan kitchen with table and seating for up to 4 guests. The kitchen is fully equipped with hob, oven and dishwasher but please note there is no washing machine at the cottage.

There is a spacious and comfortable bedroom and shower room on the lower ground floor and further sleeping capacity for one more guest (additional cost £25) on the 5 ft 8 ins sofa bed in the living room.

There is no private parking at the cottage but parking in most of the streets around are unrestricted and Swan Yard carpark is very nearby. No dogs are allowed.

The cottage is very well located for all the amenities in town, and is a wonderful addition to Laura Lye Holiday let portfolio of Arundel Cottages. Arundel is famous for its castle and cathedral but the town is busy year round because there are wonderful antique shops in town and places of interest to visit. The Arundel area is famous for walking in the South Downs and it is close to the sea. Throughout the summer guests flock to Goodwood which hosts some of the world’s most famous motor and horse racing festivals and Arundel is a favourite base for these events

This stunning two bedroom cottage is set in the middle of Arundel and on the edge of the river, Spindrift has been carefully renovated making it comfortable and modern while still retaining its charm. The cottage would be perfect for a romantic retreat, you can enjoy walks along the River in the evening or up to the stunning castle through the town.

Stepping through the stable door straight into the cosy sitting room with comfy leather sofas and chairs, there is a smart TV for guests to snuggle up and watch in the evening, that's when you aren't out enjoying the fabulous pubs and restaurants Arundel has to offer... especially the locally renowned Red Lion! The kitchen is bright and modern and the hosts have made everything available to comfortably self cater for your stay including kettle, toaster, fridge and freezer, gas hob and electric oven and washing machine.

Back into the sitting room a door conceals the (very steep) staircase to the first floor. To the front of the cottage there is a twin room over looking the water and a good size king size room to the rear overlooking the town. The family bathroom contains a shower over the bath. Pensway is a very welcoming, quaint cottage, set in the heart of the small village of Burpham, a ‘hamlet’ at the entrance to an ancient Anglo Saxon ‘burgh’, hence the name. As a one-time wheelwright’s cottage Pensway is set in the heart of the village which is buried deep in the South Downs National Park and is surrounded by the Duke of Norfolk’s estate. Burpham is a cul de sac, accessed along a country lane by the river Arun, two miles from Arundel. Whilst Pensway dates from the eighteenth century, with typical exposed beams and some low doorways, it has been sympathetically architect-renovated to a high standard, with a modern bathroom but a traditional-style kitchen, an oak-framed conservatory dining room and a cosy sitting room with a wood burner. The compact and secluded garden, which has two relaxing and dining areas, a barbecue and lounge chairs, has views of the surrounding countryside. Guests will be aware during most of the day of the sound of pheasants and buzzards whilst at night only owls spoil the silence because there is no through traffic. Centred around its celebrated castle, Arundel has many summertime events including a medieval pageant and guests can enjoy its Jailhouse jazz club, its clock golf course and its antiques and small specialist shops. Burpham is easily accessible to the high-energy of Brighton and at the same time to the Georgian cathedral city of Chichester, with its nationally-celebrated theatre, art gallery and nearby Fishbourne Roman Villa. An absolutely beautiful townhome located in Arundel town centre just a stones throw from the historic Arundel Castle and a 30 second walk to the high street with all the shops, restaurants and bars that Arundel has to offer.

As it name may suggest, 'The Bakery' used to be the local bakery for the town of Arundel. In fact, the original bakery oven still exists in the kitchen of this unique property. ‘The Bakery’ is grade II listed building located at the top of the high street in Arundel providing accommodation for 6 guests. There are two bedrooms upstairs with king size beds and two full bathrooms. There is also an additional sofa bed located on the ground floor, with access to the first floor bathroom. The ground floor also contains the living area, complete with original painted wooden beams and a gas fireplace to enjoy on colder nights. On the lower ground floor is an impressive modern kitchen featuring the old bakery oven. There is a washing machine and dryer here alongside a cloakroom. The lower ground floor leads to the private patio, a perfect spot to have morning coffee or wind down in the evening when the weather permits!

Please Note: Due to the historic, quaint nature of this home, the property is over three levels and does have some steep narrow staircases which may be difficult for some guests. Please be aware when booking the property.

That caused a little bit of stress in but once I asked about when they would arrive they did quickly on a Saturday. There are plenty of walks from the house right onto the South Downs or follow the river to the Sussex beaches. We have Goodwood Motoring Events, Fontwell Races, Chichester Festival Theatre, the Wittering's stunning beaches and Brighton within easy reach too.

Spring Cottage is a much-loved family home which has been decorated in traditional English style with pretty colours and antique furniture. The country kitchen (with Smeg fridge and range cooker) offers all facilities to prepare your own meals if you wish to eat at home. The dining area in the sitting room features a large Georgian mahogany table and chairs and grandfather clock. There is a large fireplace for colder evenings flanked by comfortable armchairs and a beautiful Liberty’s chaise longue with a television, DVD player and internet-based film and TV streaming. Two double bedrooms are served by two bathrooms (including showers and roll-top bath) and there is a third bedroom/sitting area upstairs, it is small but has a double bed, so can be used either as a dressing room or as a third bedroom sharing the bathroom with the master.

A secluded courtyard leads off the kitchen and glazed doors open from the dining area to a large terrace with swing-seat and the terraced garden overlooking Amberley Wildbrooks Nature Reserve. The views from here and from the upstairs master bedroom are wonderful and you can sit for hours watching the wildlife and enjoying nature. The pretty garden is not overlooked so offers complete privacy. Steps lead down from the terrace and on each level, you can stop to cut your own flowers or maybe sit in the hot tub while you enjoy those views.
