Wake up in your relaxing two bedroom carriage house and leisurely make a cup of coffee to start your day. (K pods & French vanilla creamer provided or Mr. Coffee available) or take a 5-7 minute walk down to the Steam Cafe coffee shop and have a latte or breakfast! You will pass by our beautiful new mural, “Shawnee Sunrise”, sit and enjoy at a picnic table …it’s beautiful any time of day!

Or just enjoy greeting the day inside on the comfortable leather sofa. However, my favorite is sitting outside on the comfortable sofa area by the hot tub and enjoying the birds singing and the sound of the fountains running. The coneflowers and patio plants are beautiful as you enjoy our private backyard oasis.

Spring is also a great for taking a Wildflower Walk. The Giant City State Park is doing guided Trillium Trail walks in April...or you can go on a self-guided hike. The Midwest Nomad Family wrote about this trail on their May 2.2023, blog. It's very kid-friendly and a fun, shorter trail to explore. They posted some great pictures and insights.

Please note that we have a "no pet" policy so that our next guests with allergies will not have any problems. We want to respect and welcome all our guests.

Enjoy hiking or the bike trail (we have two bikes for guest use), and now we have an electric bike rental business down the street. Ride or walk half a mile to the Tunnel Hill bike trail or half a mile in the opposite direction takes you to our Harrisburg Park. It's a great time to get outdoors!

While you are here you can go inside & relax with your favorite shows streaming on the 55" TV or go outside for a soak in the private hot tub. In the living area, we have added a desk, chair, and computer (WIFI is fast) with shortcuts to our favorite trails, restaurants, and activities such as ziplining, kayaking, and horseback riding. Use the keyboard to explore or search the internet so you can “know before you go”. Watch your favorite shows on our 55" Smart TV with Roku (55" Smart TV -Paramount+/Discovery+/Amazon Prime available or sign into your Netflix, Hulu, etc.)

We have an electric fireplace under the Smart TV (ROKU remote) which is so nice for the cooler evenings. Stay connected with fast WIFI. Grill/cook inside or walk to nearby restaurants. The Pine Ridge home is located on 4 private acres a few miles from our main resort, just minutes from the Garden of the Gods, the most visited site in the Shawnee National Forest. The home was completely gutted and remodeled in 2016 and features a hot tub on the covered porch. There is an air hockey table in the game area and of course, FREE WiFi and Dish TV with FREE movie channels. The kitchen is a large full size kitchen. The dining area table seats 6. There is a twin size day bed with trundle in the game room. We supply complimentary coffee, coffee filters, cream, sugar packets, salt, pepper, hand soap, dish soap, toilet paper, paper towels, firewood and camp chairs and of course, FREE WiFi.

The surroundings were nice and looked secluded, but it was close to a small highway which if outside you could hear. Not a problem for us but others might want to know. Located just a few miles from Garden of the Gods, Fishing and boating at Gleno Jones lake, Stone Face, Bell Smith Springs, Burden Falls, High Knob ranch, Double M campground.

- "The property meet our family of 4 expectations. We went to check out the eastern side of the Shawnee forest. We went to garden of gods, cave in rock, rim rock, and bell smith springs. The view and privacy are just what we needed. This location is not close to restaurants or stores. We cooked all our meals but one there. We did have a good meal at Trails End after hiking." - "We chose this property because it allowed couples their own rooms and bathrooms. In addition, this property is in the country with a beautiful view. We enjoyed the hammock and bench swing as well. We hiked at Garden of the Gods viewing the tree tops and then hiking the lower rim. We also hiked at Rim Rock. The next day we went to Jackson Falls but didn't take the hike down to get the front view of the falls. But, we did get to watch a 6/7 year old boy (fully supervised by his dad and his dad's friend) climb down a rock ledge in his rock climbing gear (safety all the way). And, we videoed a teen jump from the top of the falls into the pool of water below. He even climbed back up via a tree/trees the are growing next to the rock wall. That was cool too!"

This single family, 3 bedroom, 2 bath home is located just minutes from the famous Garden of the Gods in southern Illinois. The home was completely remodeled summer of 2019 and easily accommodates 8 people. There is a large full size kitchen with full size appliances, laundry room with washer and dryer. The living room has a 55" HD TV with Dish TV that includes 250 channels. We also offer free fiber-optic WiFi internet (50mps). We supply complimentary coffee, coffee filters, cream, sugar packets, salt, pepper, hand soap, dish soap, laundry pods, dishwasher pods, toilet paper, paper towels, firewood and camp chairs and of course, FREE WiFi.

Prairie house is located minutes away from Garden of the Gods, Pounds Hollow Lake, Rim Rock Recreational area, Cave in Rock at the heart of the Illinois Ozarks.

We are pet friendly and do not charge extra for your pets. Although this home sits on 60 private acres, the owners do live on the back side of this property and ask that you respect their privacy. Guests are welcome to walk around the front of this property but are asked to not go beyond the pond. You are welcome to pet the horses if they come up to the fence but guests may not enter the pasture with the horses at any time. This property does boarder thousands of acres of Shawnee National Forest and is only a 1/4 mile off the River to River trail.

Please note, you must include an accurate number of people with your reservation request , regardless of how many nights each person is staying. We do count children as well.

We have been in the vacation rental business for 11 years and live on the back of this 60 acre parcel. We are always available by phone or text to our guests if needed.

*** Pets and Kids:***
We are a Pet and Kid Friendly rental. We allow up to two pets per unit for no additional charge, however, we do require a credit card to be on file in the event there is any damage to the unit or its furnishings. To remain a pet friendly rental, pets that are aggressive towards other dogs, cats or people, will NOT be allowed. Pet owners assume ALL liability for their pets. Aggressive animals will be asked to leave immediately.

All pets are required to be current on shots and must be protected with Flea and Tick medicine BEFORE you arrive. All pets must be crated if left unattended in the units. No exceptions please! For your convenience, we do rent crates of all sizes for $8 per visit (not per night) but it is BYOB (Bring Your Own Blanket). Please call us in advance if you will need a crate in your unit. Please note, we will automatically charge your credit card for any damages done to the units, furnishings, linens or towels. PLEASE help us remain a pet friendly resort and just let us know if your pet had a bad day and accidentally chewed the towel or corner of the rug. We ask only that you reimburse us for the cost of the damaged item.

Even if your pet typically doesn't jump on the furniture, PLEASE bring thick blankets to cover the furniture with anyway! This goes a long way to helping the cleaning people get all the dog hair up before the next guests arrive. Thanks!

We charge a $100 security deposit at time of check in that is fully refundable after check out as long as the house and hot tub are in good condition. If we have to drain the hot tub, we will keep the security deposit.

The unit is guaranteed to be ready by 4pm. If you plan to arrive early, you MUST CALL us in advance. We will make arrangements to get you in as soon as it is cleaned and ready for you.

Rustic Ridge is a small working farm located in Southern Illinois about 15 minutes north of Garden of the Gods, Shawnee National Forest.

Our cabin has lots of windows for great indoor viewing as well as lots of patio & deck spaces to enjoy the outdoors. Splash in the pool (in season). Walk down to see the animals on our 40 acre property, go Explore the Shawnee National Forest, take a drive to the wine trail or visit nearby horse trails, atv trails, ziplining, bike trails, and so much more that the Shawnee National Forest area has to offer.

Everything here is on a hill with lots of rocks. If it's raining or recently rained you may find mud. Expect to see & hear nature all around you. This is a working farm so you may hear & see us or hear any of the neighboring farm properties. We are on property and also have exterior cameras throughout the 40 acre property. No Fence around pool! You accept responsibility for yourself & other guests.

3 night minimum on weekends or holidays and 2 night weekdays *the app keeps reverting minimum nights back to 2 nights in error. we will only honor bookings with our minimum night policy followed.
