Several last-of-its-kind treasures call Mystic their home.
The Mystic Seaport Museum is a must-see while you are here! The 1807 Williams Home rooms are named after maritime trades. The museum is home to five National Historic Landmark vessels: Charles W. Morgan- last whaling ship, Sabino Coal Steamer- last in regular operation in the U.S L.A. Dunton, Joseph Conrad, and the Emma C. Berry. Our property next door to the 1807 Williams Home & Smith Cottage, the 1784 Denison Home, offers 5 guest rooms, all named in honor of these five vessels at the Mystic Seaport. The Carriage House, our newest offering behind the Denison Home in Old Mystic, has rooms themed after historic people of the time.
Also, Mystic is home to Clyde's Cider Mill- the oldest steam power cider mill in the U.S. This special mill draws crowds in the fall to see the steam engine in action.
Mystic is a one-of-a-kind place!
You have access to the shared parking, shared yard, your private guest room, and private bathroom. The Cordage has a little kitchenette too.
You will receive full check-in instructions 4 days before your arrival date.
You will receive your Schlage lock keypad code 24 hours before arrival and you'll have a flexible check-in time.
Like many of the homes in historical villages, there is no garage. The Williams Home guests have three parking spots in our driveway, one for each private room, and the Smith Cottage guests have two. Additional parking is available behind our property at the church lot or Haley's Way Park.

PROPERTY TRUTHS
The queen bed is very high and will require our bed steps. If you are comfortable using the steps, it's worth the climb.
The Williams Home & Smith Cottage property is on Main Street on a bustling corner at a 3-way stop sign across Holly Hock Antiques and the Old Mystic Post Office. It's busy with road noise during the day but a quiet and peaceful hamlet in the evenings.
Outdoor spaces and parking are shared with guests staying in the Williams Home main house and the Smith Cottage behind.
As the Williams Home is circa 1807, the floorboards are wide and do move and creak a bit, but I think you'll appreciate how it adds to the charm and character of an antique home.
With wooden homes, sometimes doors stick and need a push or a pull, as wood naturally expands and contracts with the New England weather.
Original glass windows can be drafty in the wintertime.
There may be other guests staying at the Williams home during your stay, so I ask that all guests respect each other's space and use quiet voices as this is an antique home and the walls are not soundproof.
- "Loved the personal touches!"

- "We could not have asked for a better long weekend at the shore! Louis was a fantastic host - providing a ton of great information proactively, was super responsive to any questions (we only had one!), and provided a really enjoyable experience overall. The home had everything we could have asked for - including different size pet beds to choose from! - and even included little touches that made the difference (lots of coffee pods for us coffee drinkers, amenities in the bathrooms, plastic containers for food, etc.). The house was comfortable and roomy, and having a fully fenced in yard for our dog to roam was a huge plus! My four year old especially enjoyed the karaoke machine! It's a quiet neighborhood, close to the beautiful little borough of Stonington and a short drive to LOTS of things to do (Mystic, Westerly, Watch Hill, the list goes on!). We will definitely be coming back!"

- "We just stayed at this cute apartment for our anniversary. It was perfect for me and my husband and our dog! Stonington has a lot of history and we just loved walking around. Everything is easy to access by walking. The beach is right down the street…not dog friendly however. We traveled to Mystic (which is very close) to visit the aquarium , Westerly to let our dog run at the dog park and then went to the Stonington Vinyard for a tasting! Make sure you make reservations for dining and check out Indulge for a quick and easy breakfast. We loved our quick weekend getaway!!"

Your journey into Mystic's maritime history begins here!
Transport yourself to Mystic's shipbuilding heyday at Smith Cottage. This adorable, open-concept, pet-friendly, two-bedroom retreat in historic Old Mystic captures the essence of a bygone era.
Nestled at the head of the Mystic River, it offers a perfect base for exploring the coastline and Mystic Seaport. With Colonial nautical charm and 21st-century comfort, the Smith Cottage invites you to experience genuine New England hospitality.
A HISTORICAL STAY
Built by the relatives of one of the original families who settled on the east side of Mystic River, the 1807 Williams Home property oozes with history and character! Located in the original colonial settlement of Mystic or Head O' the River, the Smith Cottage at the 1807 Williams Home property is a short ride- two miles to sightseeing and Mystic eateries.
The history buff in you will love the story behind the Smith Cottage and the 1807 Williams Home. The Smith Cottage started out as a blacksmith's shop in the early 1900s and was named in its honor.
The main house was originally known as the Wayside Inn~ a regular stopping point for stagecoaches on their New London-Providence runs. On January 17, 1840, former Secretary of State Daniel Webster, traveling by sleigh, stopped in for a drink on his way to the Groton Ferry to catch a boat to New York! If only walls had ears, imagine the stories they could recount! Perhaps if you slow down, you can hear the walls whisper words of the past!

Our property next door to the 1807 Williams Home & Smith Cottage, the 1784 Denison Home, offers 5 guest rooms, all named in honor of these five vessels at the Mystic Seaport. Great location- 2min from the aquarium and 7min from a mystic’s Main Street. We will most definitely be back!" - "A friend and I stayed overnight to celebrate a milestone birthday. Even before we arrived I could tell we were going to fall in love with the place! Debbie is beyond fantastic! She communicates promptly, is there to answer any question, and is just an absolute pleasure. Ok, now to when we arrived. From the moment we pulled up I was certain we couldn’t have picked a more perfect place. I really have no words to accurately describe how well thought out it is. Details upon details, special little touches, imagination and thought used throughout! My friend and I were blown away! The house is not only aesthetically fantastic but everything is super clean and comfy as well. We did not want to leave, like ever! Debbie has an incredible gift and has found her calling as a host. We will be back 100%! Thank you so very much Debbie. We are your biggest fans! Counting the days until we can return!"

- "Loved it!" - "Debbie (and Paul) have created an amazing retreat in a beautiful, historical area. The room was incredible and the care put into every last detail certainly pays off. The Rigger's Retreat transported us into a patriotic and historic time with the decor and theme. We were greeted with a warm welcome card and apple pie. The outdoor social areas were also great and included fire pits, chairs, hammocks, and a gazebo. I would recommend Debbie (and Paul) to anyone looking to stay near Mystic, CT."
