In the foothills of the Maiella National Park 'Casa in Legno' provides the perfect setting for a taste of real Italy.
Situated on a steeply sloping wooded site in the hamlet of Limiti, near Palombaro, Chieti, Abruzzo, 'Casa in Legno' offers accomodation on two level terraces.
At the top is the main house; a two bedroomed villa with open plan accomodation downstairs. The master bedroom has a double bed and ensuite facilities whilst the second bedroom is equipped with twin beds with a family bathroom just outside the door. Both bedrooms open out onto a large glass fronted balcony with commanding views across the valley to the hill top town of Palombaro. The ground floor has an expansive covered terrace for eating outdoors on those balmy summer evenings.
The sun drenched lower terrace provides the setting for the swimming pool and pool house. The poolhouse is its own private apartment with a double bedroom, showerroom and kitchen/living room with double sofa bed. Please note that we do not let out the properties separately and that the whole site including the pool would be for your sole usage.
Both properties are newly constructed. The photos shown on this website were taken in March before the surrounding trees had come into leaf. Work is ongoing.
Whilst the interiors are complete the landscaping of the site remains in its natural state.
Visitors should be aware that there are steep slopes and big drops both on our land and in the surrounding area which could be dangerous especially for young children. Fencing and landscaping is ongoing but no work will be carried out during your stay.
The road up to the property is steep and narrow and the last 200 metres is a gravel track. Clients should be aware that a vehicle with good ground clearance is recommended and that low profile tyres are generally not good news throughout the area.

- "It's been an absolute pleasure to stay at Casa in Legno. A beautiful, peaceful location with amazing views that constantly change with the light. The house is clean and tidy with a homely feel to it. There is plenty of shade and seating options on the terrace and Cynthia's balcony is an amazing place to relax in the evening whilst watching the hilltop villages and the houses in the valley below twinkle in the night sky. The kitchen is very well equipped and only let down by the lack of a decent sharp knife and some of the pans. The bedrooms are spacious and the beds very comfortable but frustratingly storage is limited due to the wardrobe and drawers already being mostly full. The pool seems to have been repainted and whatever was used has not adhered to the walls and bottom and is blistering and peeling off. Although it was looking a bit tired it was very warm and cleaned regularly by David and we spent many happy hours in and beside it. The track up to the house although steep and a little bumpy in places is fine if you take it slowly, even our little Lancia Ypsilon made it comfortably even though it couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding. It is well worth an evening stroll down to the Agriturismo L'Uliveto for great food and hospitality. Further down the road is De Vitis Maria Domenica’s or Maria's which is a friendly treasure trove of basics plus a lot more."

Airco is in one room on topfloor and is supposed to cool down al rooms on topfloor. This is not really working during hot August and July months and there are no ventilators to help out. With their wonderful Villas located in the Abruzzo Mountains at a mountainside you have a wonderful view over the valley. The Pool is getting cleaned every morning by Rob or Lyn to provide a clean pool when you wake up on hot days to directly jump into. Never seen a pool in better shape!!! The place was very clean, well equipped, had everything we needed to feel at home, and was exactly the retreat from all the daily city life we needed. Rob even provided a gas bbq and whenever we had any questions or wishes, both did everything they can to fulfill those wishes as best as possible. The nearby city Casoli which is only 10 car minutes away has 2 supermarkets which was handy, and from there it's only a few minutes to dozens of restaurants and cafes. The winery Tilli's is right around the corner as well as a cheese-factory and pasta-factory where you can get the freshest ingredient to make your stay as Italian as possible. While staying we got the offer to participate at a local fest, where we enjoyed wine, beer, food and the very local atmosphere in the middle of the Abruzzo Mountains. Lovely! This little gem is like a resort for your soul. No kids and no pets are allowed and in the 3 Villas and only 2 people can stay per Villa. So if you travel as a couple, the only people you encounter (besides Rob & Lyn) are maximum 4 other guests. The place is best accessed by car. So it would be wise to rent or travel by car. There are no buses and/or taxis available. Which is a huge plus in our opinion. No nasty tourists ;). Rob & Lyn answer their phones instantly or reply via messengers within minutes. They do not leave any wishes or needs open to you and other hosts can take an example from this. We would highly recommend this wonderful Villas to everyone who is looking to calm down, have wonderful Italian food and recharge their batteries.
