Attention:
The Villa is the ground floor of a 4 story historic home that has been divided in 4 Villas, one per floor. Ours has the ground floor with private terrace and all entrances are very private.
The villa has a gorgeous path surrounded by grapes, orange trees and flowers that leads to the beach. Also a shared Pool with the other Villas located in the property!!

Keep in mind that the path to the beach is a steep hill and it has steps and dirt pathways. It's not suited for people with disabilities. The road to the villa is narrow and curvy, best for compact cars.

Other Amenities: The property is located in the middle of a natural park, so that there are many wonderful paths to explore along the cilff and up on the mountain with a breathtaking view of the sea.There's a shuttle every 20 minutes that takes you to Portofino or santa Margherita.If you like food and shopping in Portofino you can find the best quality of them in a romantic set. Here you will have all the facilities you need, like banks, pharmacies, hairdressers, tourists office, taxis, grocer's shops and post office.

Other Activities: You can walk down to the Paraggi beach, the villa's gate is just across from the beach entrance, and is the best one in that area. From Paraggi you can choose to walk,there is a delightful walkway surrounded by the park,overlooking the cliff, or drive to Portofino, where you find restaurants, fancy yacths and stores. By train you have to stop at the Santa Margherita Ligure station and catch a shuttle to Paraggi right in front of the station (every 20 mins). Paraggi is 3km away from Santa Margherita Ligure where you can find every kind of shops, facilities (hospital, train, supermarket) and the traditional market on tuesdays. A famous golf and tennis club is located in Rapallo,just 7Km far from Paraggi. By plane: airport Cristoforo Colombo in Genova (45km) or airport Galileo Galilei in Pisa (150km) or Milano Linate (about 2 hours by car).

We were surprised that the other villas were the other floors of the property, so startled when we realized we were not alone. Note: it's more accurately named Casa Bianca, after the noted Milanese architect Carlo Bianca who designed it in the early 20th C for the family who still owns it today (this from a generously informative document provided by the entrance). Casa Bianca is an interesting double entendre, since it is a "casa bianca" (WHITE house), unlike most in the area. I guess La Dolce Vita is its VRBO "stage name". The villa is isolated from the glitz of Portofino and bustle of Santa Margherita and Rapallo, but conveniently accessible to all (Portofino by walking -- though challenging for the 82 yr old in our group -- and all by the frequent and very accessible #82 bus) as well as to the excellent beach at Paraggi. FYI, the 'town' of Paraggi is no more than a beach, a couple of restaurants and hotels and one (ONE) shop that sells beach essentials. No bodegas, no real provisioning like that easily found along the lanes running back from Santa Margherita's waterfront. La Dolce Vita is stunning and architecturally distinct from those in the area -- more like one might expect to find in Amalfi, with decidedly pan-Mediterranean features. The beds and baths are comfortable and well-appointed. However the kitchen could use some updates. It's a classically tiny Italian household kitchen, but it functioned well enough -- as such kitchens always have for Italian families -- for our small group. Given the idiosyncratic floor plan built around the hexagonal soggiorno, kitchen expansion would be challenging, but a modern stove would be start. The loggia and graveled terrace areas were a great pleasure for sunning and meals, with sparkling sunrises, views of gin palaces floating out on the cove and a tremendous fireworks display the first night (just for us, obviously :-). Wildlife sightings included wild boar (cinghiale) in the area. We didn't use the pool but might have had the season been hotter. Olga was a very welcoming and informative property manager, full of information and good cheer. (Thank you, Olga) La Dolce Vita in Paraggi is a great spot, for its location, condition, hosting and architectural significance. We would certainly (and might well) return for another visit."

- "Villa Clara is a stunning property, even better than the photos suggest, set amongst other beautiful properties, built into the terraced hillside. Amazing and extensive outdoor space, wonderful views of the marina, the town and the hills beyond. Beautiful interior with a white and blue theme. Very well equipped kitchen with a second fridge and freezer outside but under cover in the utility area. Large and spacious throughout for a larger party yet still homely and intimate for our party of 7. Very steep steps into town (with numerous restaurants, a carrefour and a co-op) dropping about 240ft, but only taking about 6 minutes but certainly kept us fit while we were there. We BBQd several times, had a private chef one evening. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking, lovely crockery, table cloths etc. The town is a great base, plenty to do and so easy to visit Portofino (€6 each way by boat, €3 each way by bus, €50 by taxi - ouch! ) Camogli (€4 return and 5 mins by train) and just over an hour by boat to the first of the Cinque Terre. The chap looking after the property lives very close by, friendly and helpful (we used Google translate!) although we didn’t have any issues with anything it was good to know he was there. Highly recommended. It was a pleasure and a privilege to stay there."

The villa was built in 1928 on an ancient oil mill, it is a prestigious home furnished with English-style furnishings, with a central living room with six windows that access the park and a terrace overlooking the whole of Santa Margherita Ligure. Another terrace of over 300 square meters insists on the whole building.
It has 4 master bedrooms, each with independent air conditioning. There are two other bedrooms with attached bathroom and air conditioning. The house is completely renovated with English style bathrooms and slate floors. Double glazed style windows. At the center of the house there is a large double kitchen with style floors.

- "This villa is a quirky, charming place. On the plus side, the view is stunning, the gardens huge and lush, and the management friendly and responsive. It is not fully updated (air conditioning in half and not in the other, a kitchen that is fully functional but not cutting edge, and water pressure/electricity that doesn't allow more than one shower at a time nor multiple appliances to be run. The pool liner is bunching, and there is no shallow end...Thus the " quirky" description. But, it is clearly a well-loved and well used place with loads of character, lots of pool paraphernalia (towels, sun beds etc) and a serious step work out to town (21 minutes from front door to SML) If you have small kids and want a place that is quick to town- this is not for you. If you have multiple cars and people that don't mind a small drive OR like us- people that want a workout everyday- this place is for you. We had a wonderful two weeks of sun, food, and views."

The 3000 sqm garden is arranged across several levels, with terraces, lawns and Mediterranean plants including bougainvillea, hydrangeas, and plumbago. Olive trees dominate the grounds, accompanied by orange and lemon trees. The swimming pool is set in a central lawn area, reached via stone steps or a ramp. A round table beside the pool provides a dining area, while a shaded gazebo on a panoramic terrace offers views over the marina. On a lower level, a bowling green is set beneath the olive trees. A paved patio outside the kitchen is furnished for outdoor breakfast or coffee. The property includes two reserved parking spaces in front of the villa.

Swimming Pool:
The pool is centrally located within the garden, surrounded by paving and a lawn. The solarium is equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas, and mature trees provide natural shade. The pool is open from the last Saturday in April to the first Saturday in October.
