It is located on top of a steep winding road, very quiet and private, AMAZING views of the bay. They were communicative in advance of our arrival and we could text anytime we needed something. A water dispenser was provided so we didn't need to worry about going to the store for bottled water. Well appointed kitchen with everything we needed to cook meals at home. Beautiful tastefully decorated suite. Our balcony was divine and we spent many quiet nights at home enjoying the view. There is also a good sized pool on the property with lounge chairs that we never got around to using. You will want a car if you stay here but Playa la Ropa is a short drive down the hill with tons of great restaurants and parking was easy to find. "

There is a full size refrigerator with ice maker,, an electric range, a washer and dryer, and a water purification system for the whole house.

Common areas include a soothing infinity pool that overlooks the bay. Right next to it is a large palapa with a common barbecue, a small kitchen area and a restroom. There are pool towels provided, and you can sunbathe on Bali-beds, or relax in the shade provided by the palapa on some nice loungers. A table and chairs, and a small bar are also available. The garden is beautifully landscaped and maintained by our full time groundskeeper.

For those who need to exercise there is also a small onsite air-conditioned fitness center. Nearby yoga classes are always available.

Each unit has one private parking spot.

Our wonderful maid, Ana provides complimentary housekeeping service if requested every other day except on Sunday´s.

If you want to leave the premises and enjoy the beach, you can either walk or take a taxi to la la Ropa, a wonderful sandy beach that provides a string of great seafood and international restaurants. Water sports and activities ranging from boogie boards, water skiing, parasailing, jet skis, and catamarans to beach volleyball are available. You can also rent beach chairs and umbrellas there.

The waves on La Ropa are generally mild and allow for great swimming.

On the way back stop a for a fantastic coffee and pasties, or a little shopping; they also have a very select wine bar! Ask for information about their life music shows!

Leo was always available to ensure that guests received whatever they wanted or needed. Every time we needed transportation, food, drink or laundry, Leo was happy to accommodate. La Madera beach is a blue-flag beach and was spotlessly clean--two minutes walk from the house with a sandy bottom and small waves perfect for children. Caretaker and his family are attentive and helpful. We went shopping with Leo nearly every day at the public market as our family likes to cook and it's easier than taking a bunch of little kids to a restaurant. It's also a short walk to the Soriano grocery store and to liquor stores. Leo made coffee every morning from the owner's estate, which was wonderful. He also prepared a continental breakfast but it lacked variety. Lovely pool. Beds were comfortable and there was plenty of hot water. Main criticisms are 1) we were promised laundry service every other day but instead had to purchase it--a place this costly needs to have a washing machine; 2) the kitchen pots and pans are a mish mash--someone needs to go through the stuff and throw out the broken pieces and equip it properly. 3)The poolside chaises and chairs and umbrellas need to be replaced and enough provided to handle the number of guests. The Zihua city government gets 5-stars for its effort to provide a clean and safe environment for guests."

Casa Monarca was built with an off the grid solar system to provide comfort with a low carbon dioxide footprint. This property runs on solar energy and a generator to power all the electrical equipment. We only welcome Guests with an energy saving conscience who understand and use energy, lights and fans, responsably.
This Villa is located at the top of the hill in La Ropa, with unobstructed views of both Las Gatas beach and La Ropa beach, while giving the convenience of being only 900 m (0.6 miles) from the beach. Casa Monarca gets a constant breeze so there is no need to worry about those pesky mosquitoes.
Five ensuite bedrooms are spread across a large multi-leveled 700 m2 lot with lots of green space living between. The secluded location provides with privacy and natural beauty. Our gardens grow different tropical fruits such as mango, guanavana, banana, pomegranate, lime and orange in a seasonal fashion. Casa Monarca has two pools, terraces and green areas for maximum relaxation during your stay, not to mention the tropical weather all year round with average temperatures around 25-30˚C during the coldest months.
Casa Monarca has five bedrooms which sleeps 15 people comfortably and a play room.
Each suite is uniquely decorated and designed with tranquility in mind. The master suite is a large bedroom with a King size bed, vaulted ceiling, a cozy living room with resting area, t.v fans, A/C and two twin size sofa beds, sleeps 2 adults and 2 children/teenagers comfortably. Ensuite bathroom contains a double sink countertop with a double shower. This bedroom has its own private infinity pool with a terrace featuring a 180 degree view of Zihuatanejo Bay, playa "La Ropa" overlooking the vast Mexican Pacific Ocean. This is a second floor suite with stair access only. A second medium size bedroom is located in the main house area with direct access to kitchen, living room, main pool and terrace. This room features a king size bed, vaulted ceiling, fans, AC and own ensuite bathroom with a double sink. Sleeps 2 adults. This room has the advantages of being in the main living space, where the living room offers a TV, stereo (ipad, iphone) and DVD player. Two more suites are located under the main pool, these are medium size bedrooms with double queen beds, fans, A/Cs, hammocks and own ensuite bathroom.
We are please to provide a smoke-free environment. A $200.00 usd fee will be applied to any room that has been smoked in.

We welcome you to stay at our home. Please note, we are not a hotel. We have built our home to encompass our strong beliefs in conserving energy and leaving as small of a footprint as we can to preserve the environment for our future generations. We, personally, do not have daily housekeeping services or an onsite cook. We can, however, put you in touch with locals who can provide these services, should you request them.
Our home is built to rely completely on solar energy to run the electrical aspects. Although we have a lot of energy, it is unlike traditional power that is unlimited. We only have what is stored. We therefore encourage that if you stay at our home, you follow the same ideology as we do, i.e. turning off the lights and fans when not in the room.
We have five rooms in total. Two of which have ocean/pool views and two more with garden views. Each room has its own ensuite bathroom and can accommodate between 2-4 people. Although we normally sleep using fans only, all rooms are equipped with A/C units. Keeping with our philosophy, the units are on a timer to conserve energy.
The land surrounding our home is currently not build on, which gives great privacy and surrounds the property with a lush jungle. The area is home to many different species, including a variety of birds, geikos, and insects. It is not uncommon to see insects and birds come over the wall to drink the water from the pool, as it is the only source of water in the area.
Finally we ask that you treat our home as you would your own and hope you enjoy it as much as our family does!

Casa Monarca sleeps a maximum of 15 people in five bedrooms.

Recommendations for families that have not traveled to Zihuatanejo before and have not rented with us.

Spread indoor insecticide in all rooms in a daily fashion for extra protection although we fumigate bi-weekly.

- "My husband and I just spent a month in Elena’s villa on Playa Blanca. We absolutely loved the setting on this 10-mile stretch of (yet) undeveloped beach south of the town of Zihuatanejo and just north of the fishing village of Barra de Potosi. The villa is nicely furnished with comfortable seating inside and outside and very comfortable mattresses as well. There is a lovely view of the large infinity pool and the ocean beyond, not just from the terrace, but also from the living room through floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors along the entire width of the room. All the windows and doors have screens. The kitchen is very well equipped with lots of dishes, cutlery, pots and pans. While we ate out most of the time (we were on vacation after all), every imaginable appliance and kitchen gadgets are on hand for a more ambitious cook to make elaborate meals. What we loved most of all was the peace and tranquility. No barking dogs, no crowing roosters, no fire crackers even on major national holidays, no loud music blaring all night – no noise at all, except the pounding of the surf. Our first time in 17 stays all over Mexico that we didn’t have to use ear plugs at night! Elena is a most gracious host and easy to communicate with before our arrival and also during our stay. - "I enjoyed staying at this house. It has a nice view of the bay. The rooms were decent size and it was comfortable for six people. I also liked the location, allowing us to walk to Contramar. There was an unfortunate event that happened during our stay. One person was locked in the bedroom and couldn’t get out due to a door knob failure. However, the onsite manager responded very quickly. He pried out the door and freed the trapped person. The only thing that I was not completely satisfied with was the email communication with the host prior to arrival. It was somewhat challenging."

Our home lies on a beautiful secluded beach just 10 min south of Zihuatanejo/Ixtapa airport called Playa Blanca.
We are villa 4 of 24 villas in a 2 acre gated complex that offers 24 hour security. This private piece of paradise gets you away from the crowds and high-rise hotels for a real vacation escape. Keep in touch with unlimited wifi, close enough to the tourist action when desired but away from it all for quiet relaxing stay.
The Villa;
Upstairs houses the master bedroom with a king size bed, a front balcony, and a full bath with shower. The second bedroom upstairs has a king bed that converts into a two single bed configuration with its own full bath with shower. The main floor also has a full bath with shower.
All villa bedrooms face the pool and 2 acres of manicured lawns and tropical gardens as well as the beach and ocean. Main floor features a living room full sectional sofa and a chair to enjoy the TV. Inside dining table for 6-8, fully appointed kitchen (my husband loves to cook!) and our favourite place, the palapa covered patio housing the bar and beer fridge with the ocean and pool view!

At our villa you are close enough to hear the waves breaking nearby and smell the salt air while enjoying unsurpassed views of the Pacific.
10 miles of secluded white sand beach. From our palapa covered terrace or the infinity pool watch dolphins playing in the surf and migrating whales breeching in the bay.
The Area:
The villa accommodations combined with its location takes you away from the mainstream tourist area and gives you a chance to enjoy Mexico. The local people and community give you that "small town" feeling and treat you like friends or family. Simply take a stroll to the end of Playa Blanca to Barra de Potosi.
Here you will find a few small stores and countless 'enramadas' (palm thatched covered restaurants) lining the beach.
Everyone is friendly so feel free to relax in a hammock, have a drink and enjoy fresh seafood at extremely reasonable prices.
You can kayak or paddle board on the bay or in the lagoon threw the mangrove canals. Rent a surf board and catch a few waves.
Horseback ride on the beach or explore a part of the jungle and the "turtle" beach on the other side of the hill. Take a guided boat tour of the large estuary and see the salt-producing flats and many exotic forms of local wildlife!
Try your luck at the Morros with a fishing tour, or head out further for a sailfish or marlin! Camera's is a must!

There are a few 4-5 star restaurants within walking distance that offer breakfast, lunch or dinner or if your feeling lazy simply order in! There are also a few small stores with the necessities.

- "I'm not sure where to start. We had the most unbelievable stay at Casa Arrebato. Our host, Cristina and her wonderful staff were beyond amazing. My wife, 2 year old daughter and 7 year old son arrived to the Ixtapa Airport to find a reserved van and driver waiting to deliver us to the casa. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the staff and our bags were brought into the home and set in our rooms. Fresh squeezed margaritas were delivered on a tray for me and my wife and fresh juices for the kids. We enjoyed a tour and then relaxed poolside while our chef prepared a delicious lunch. We were immediately taken with the authenticity and sophistication of the home. It had an air of understated elegance that would have impressed even the most critical interior designers. There was not a detail left untouched and we marveled at the custom hard wood furnishings and the quality of the home in general. Our week long stay was perfect. We had access down a private outdoor stairwell to the beach and the views from the open air living room and veranda were unbeatable. The bedrooms were well appointed and air conditioned. The infinity pool we enjoyed almost constantly. Having a staff to clean the home daily and prepare either breakfast and lunch or lunch and dinner was such a blessing. Perfection all around. Casa de Olas is an oceanfront penthouse villa in Las Palmas Luxury Villas on the 9 mile beach, Playa Blanca, prized for its serenity. This is a dream vacation home for families or groups of couples or friends. Las Palmas is an architectural work of art, designed by renowned architect, Enrique Zozaya, in a style that celebrates the natural environment and local Mexican artisans.

The villa is located less than ten minutes from the Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo international airport and twenty minutes from the town of Zihuatanejo. Las Palmas is a gated community with 24 hour security. Casa de Olas was built in 2014 and has nearly 4,000 square feet of living space. There are 4 bedrooms including a large rooftop terrace with an infinity plunge pool as well as two larger swimming pools on the grounds. Two of the bedrooms are ocean facing with king-size beds, one is an ocean view bedroom with a king-size bed and the last is a mountain view bedroom with two queen-size beds. All bedrooms have air-conditioning and ceiling fans. Three of the bedrooms have private ocean facing terraces. The bathrooms adjoining the bedrooms are open air and feature Zozaya's signature outdoor showers. The house comfortably sleeps 8 but 2 children under 10 can share the two queen beds for a maximum occupancy of 10. The main level boasts a large well-appointed open-air living room and gourmet kitchen looking out to the ocean, under a lovely palapa roof with an over-sized dining table, hammock and plenty of sofa space. There is also an outdoor grill on the rooftop terrace with plunge pool - wonderful for morning coffee, lazy afternoons and star-gazing.

There is a beachfront restaurant and bar that serves delicious drinks and authentic Mexican food. Room service is also available. Private chef and/or grocery service is available upon request. The local restaurants in Zihuatanejo are excellent. At the southern end of Playa Blanca, about four miles away, you will find Barra de Potosí, a small fishing village that offers some of the best open-air, seafood enramadas. There is a beautiful lagoon there with miles of mangrove trees and bird life for you to enjoy by kayak available for rent or by guided tour in a small motorboat. Surfing spots are nearby in Zihuatanejo, Playa Linda, Troncones and La Saladita, to name a few. Behind the villas, there are natural pastures, tropical groves and fresh-water estuaries with the majestic mountains of the Sierra Madre in the background. Casa de Olas is the ideal place to reconnect with nature, experience colorful local culture and indulge in blissful relaxation.
