*NO PARTIES OR EVENTS
*Must provide State Issued ID, a list of guests and sign house rules agreement within 24 hours of booking or booking will be canceled.
* THERE WILL BE A $600 CHARGE FOR SMOKING INSIDE THE HOUSE.
* PETS: We are unable to accomodate any pets due to an allergy of the owner/cleaner of this property.
*NO CHILDREN ALLOWED
* ADDITIONAL GUESTS: there will be an additional guest fee added to any guests not approved during booking.
*Cameras are in use outside around the property and in the Laundry/Porch area. There are none located inside the apartment itself.
We reserve the right to terminate this rental agreement and you will need to leave the property if these rules are not followed.
* LATE CHECK OUT: there will be an additional $70 charge if checking out late unless previously agreed upon.
* You are welcome to use any of the outside structures (stairs, walkway etc.) but owners are not liable for any injuries that may occur as it is understood this is a risk you choose to take.
*Quiet Time is between 10:00 PM and 8:00 AM. Please refrain from any loud noise or music during this time.
* Garbage must be stowed in the proper garbage or recycling receptacle, located by parking area
*Please do not flush anything other than toilet paper. No feminine products or wipes should be flushed at any time. *Even things that state they are “flushable” please do not flush them down our system. This is old building with old pipes!
*Grilling must be done at least 10 feet away from the building.
* Check Out Time is 10 AM: To complete check out, make sure refrigerator is emptied, take out all trash, wash all dishes and put in dish rack to dry. Please leave used beds unmade no need to strip them. All used towels need to be placed in the washer. You do NOT have to start the load. Then text or use VRBO messaging to let us know you have departed.
*If you find any damage or cleaning issues please call us as soon as you Check-In. You must contact us to address any cleaning issues within 3 hours of your arrival. The house must be returned in relatively the same condition, i.e. no trash/decorations left/no spills/ no damage/ no missing items, furniture that was moved out back.
Violators will be removed from the property without refund or/and fined.
The person who created the reservation is responsible for any rules violations.

The front entrance is a key code lock, Lighted porch, very quiet and safe neighborhood. Home is a beautifully updated 1 bed 1 bath apartment. The property was recently renovated. Full-size bed in bedroom and very comfortable sofa with pull-out couch) Has all the utensils, pots, and pans needed to make a great home-cooked meal. You will have the whole apartment to yourself. Also has washer and dryer in home.
Lawn care and all utilities are included in the rent price.

The space
The Maupin Studio: named after the architect who’s standout features include the unique yellow bricks and large awning. This home was built in 1910 and the bones are outstanding. We added modern touches but really wanted to keep the character!
The home itself is large and we are renovating it a floor at a time. The first floor is currently finished and houses your studio and a two bedroom unit. The top floor is our next project! The basement is a workplace to a framist by day. All parts of the house are secure and require key access.
Your studio has a large and comfortable king size memory foam bed, kitchenette with seating, bathroom with shower and living room area. There is very fast Wifi, Smart TV, record player that also connects via Bluetooth to your device, espresso machine, books and magazines, and cozy robes.

There are two units in this building and a carriage house unit in the rear of the property. This studio has private access and is yours to call home for the duration of your stay.

This Suite is an adorable one bedroom, one bathroom apartment located above our commercial building, The 1904 General Store, and adjacent to our restaurant, The Brown Bag Bistro. It's centrally located in downtown Alton and is perfect for guests who want to explore the town by foot!
This building is known as Alton's World's Fair Building. It is one of the many structural and artistic remnants spread across the country of the majestic 1904 World's Fair that was held in St. Louis!
The space
Located on the second floor, this adorable one-bedroom apartment comfortably sleeps two people and has great views of the Clark Bridge from the living room.

Fun Fact: The Quaker Shops exhibit building from the 1904 World's Fair was brought to Alton, Illinois piece by piece after the fair. The exterior stone is not part of the original building, however, it is not hard to miss the original structure inside and out with its crafty wood features. It is now our candy store, The 1904 General Store!

Other things to note
Here are quirks that have been an issue and took note:
Jacuzzi Tub is fantastic but please note it takes about 10+ minuets, to sometimes 15, to prefill the tub, enough to submerge the jets under the water line. The water is low pressure when its filling.
Apartment size washer and dryer is good for smaller loads. Please do not worry about doing any laundry that is not expected.
Building has central heating and AC, although control of building thermostat not in unit. Temp is roughly 68- 70 degrees. Each bedroom has its own window AC unit along with multiple fans, space heaters in season.
There are 2 refrigerators, but the one on the left is a refrigerator, and the one on the right is the freezer.
They look identical.
