The Carriage House is the ideal home base for those that are planning to spend more time in the great outdoors, rather than indoors. This petite studio suite offers simple living with the basic amenities.
While the Carriage House was added at a later date as a residence that was separate from the farmhouse, the farm itself and main barn, dates back to the late Civil War Era. It also sits along the John Hunt Morgan Heritage Trail, the route Confederate Brigadier General Morgan took during his raid on Southern OH.
With it's rolling pastures, it will be too easy to get lost in a daydream on the back patio.
The shared walking trails offer a quiet hike through the woods.
On the other side of the woods, you'll find a small seasonal pond.
And in the evenings, the fire ring is a great place to unwind and maybe catch a glimpse of the deer that frequent the pasture on the hillside.

There is also a full kitchen with appliances, bath with stand-up tile shower and a separate bedroom with a queen bed. Plus, guests get to enjoy the game room with foosball, skeeball and card table.

Stay in town and enjoy numerous activities within the city or take a short drive and check out all that Hocking Hills has to offer. Walk to restaurants, stores and museums.

Guests must climb a flight of stairs for access to the loft area. No elevators available. The loft accommodates up to 4 to 5 guests (King Bed/Queen Bed/Sofa).

Guests will hear normal city noise during their stay as the loft is located in Downtown Logan.

We are nestled on 30 acres of woods just 2 miles from Old Man's Cave. Inside we have a cozy bedroom with full view window, private bathroom/shower, full kitchen, living room area with small dining table for 2, gas fireplace, YouTube TV, and WiFi.
The Lily Pad is named after our oldest granddaughter Lily Theodora. The Lily Pad is Constructed from a 40 ft. High Cube shipping container, designed for only 2 people. There is 300 square ft of living space inside with 480 sq. ft of outdoor living space. The outdoor space includes a hot tub, gas grill, Seating area and a large cozy swing bed. We also have a fire pit and lounge chairs for roasting hotdogs and marshmallows.

In our indoor space you can not miss the picturesque glass garage door. The full view door is motorized to allow you to bring the outdoors in. We also have a large picture window in the bedroom, so you can watch the many deer traveling around the property. If you chose to we have a motorized black out blind when needed. There is a private bathroom with shower right off the bedroom. There is also an indoor gas fireplace, cozy leather couch, small dining table and chairs. The kitchen has a small refrigerator, induction cooktop, microwave and toaster oven, All cooking utensils are stocked with plates, bowls, glasses, everything you would need for two.

- "The Double Stack was super cute and perfect for a weekend getaway with my husband. The property was cute and well thought out. There were a couple of minor repairs and things that need fixing; the upstairs lights didn’t work at all (except the bathroom), a few downstairs lightbulbs were burned out, and the coffee maker didn’t work. However, those are minor inconveniences. The host pretty much has everything you need there except food. The 3 different levels of outdoor seating/areas was really nice. The hot tub was perfect and relaxing. I’d recommend to a friends for sure!"

The stay was overall great - the basketball court was a great surprise (we assumed we wouldn’t use it, but definitely enjoyed having it), and the space was very conducive to a large group for family dinners and fun. However, the space itself could use some love. I think we were one of the first renters, and there were some kinks to work out - no places to hang towels, not enough supplies, a terrible sulfur smell from sitting water, etc. The good news is that the property owner was very responsive and committed to making these updates for future renters. It is very private and features a gorgeous view from the deck, as well as amenities you have at home, including a fully-equipped kitchen, television (streaming services: Hulu, Netflix, Amazon, and PBS), towels, bedding, blow dryer, toiletries, and more. You will have wireless access and internet as well. The apartment has one bedroom with a comfortable queen-size bed.

You have full access to the apartment.The deck outside the apartment has a small table and chairs and offers a stunning view. You are welcome to stroll the grassy lane on the other side of the pond across from our house, go fishing (but bring your own pole and throw fish back in after you catch them -- we have a catch-and-release policy), or have a picnic. Swimming and kayaking are not permitted. Our own private “yard” is on the opposite end of the house. If you wander over to the other side of the pond, you may spot my husband gardening or working on an outdoor project in our yard.

Other things to note
We live in the hills and, therefore, guests should set up their cell phones for wireless calling. We provide quality coffee, raw, organic sugar, and one small container of organic milk per guest. The apartment has its own HVAC system, so guests stay comfortable whatever the weather/season. We do ask that guests be eco conscious by setting AC to 75 degrees and furnace to 67 degrees if they are out of the apartment for long stretches. The thermostat can easily be re-adjusted upon returning home.

We have a moderate cancellation policy, meaning that if you need to cancel, and if you do it more than 5 days in advance, you will be fully refunded. During the winter, we are happy to reimburse guests whose visits are cancelled at the very last minute due to snow and/or ice; however, Airbnb will retain their service fee.

Getting in is easy: we leave the apartment door open when we know a guest is arriving. You'll find your key on the kitchen table.

Athens is located in the foothills, so expect hilly terrain. No problem in the spring, summer, and fall, but winter can get dicey. Winter guests are wise to book last minute so they know what the weather will be. As little as a couple of inches make travel outside the city challenging if not dangerous. Water’s Edge sits well above Athens but the house, itself, is at the base of a hill.

Please keep in mind we do not allow pets under any circumstances. Although we are animal lovers, we keep the apartment animal-free. (Documented support pets are the only exception. See “house rules.”)

Measures to protect your health: If you’ve read our reviews, you know that many of our guests have rated Water’s Edge as exceptionally clean. Even before fears of a mysterious (corona) virus emerged, we took every cleaning measure we could to ensure our guests’ safety, including wiping down surfaces with disinfectant wash (paying special attention to door knobs, light and lamp switches, faucet handles, and the TV remote). We use anti-allergen covers for mattresses and bed pillows (please don't remove; these are washed regularly) Please note that we keep disinfectant wipes under the kitchen sink. We open windows (even in the winter) between guest visits in order to fully ventilate the space.

The space
The 14-acre property is very quiet, and was a goat farm (Bish Farms) for several decades before coming under new ownership in 2020. Though we no longer have goats, some remnants of the farm still remain and we've been working to repurpose or re-use what we can. You might see us working around the property during your visit.

The back of the property is densely wooded and bordered by a creek. The apartment building was once a barn that housed goats in the basement, had a woodworking shop on the ground floor, and a kitchen to process goat cheese upstairs. We converted the workshop to an apartment and other renovations were completed in 2021.

It has all the amenities necessary for a relaxing stay in a modern apartment that once was a barn - HVAC, tankless hot water heater, reliable WiFi, docking stations with dual monitors, washer/dryer, and a fully stocked kitchen.

The open living area is spacious and flows into a larger kitchen which is ideal for family meals or snacks after a day of exploring. Unwind on the wraparound deck, where you can often spot a family of deer wandering by. Since there is little light pollution, it’s great for stargazing.

The bedroom area features a plush queen-sized bed, toddler bed (can covert to a baby crib), and there's a twin bed inside a former walk-in closet. You'll find an array of toys and books to accommodate little ones, and a smart TV if you just need to relax with your favorite show.

Your privacy is respected. We reside in the blue farmhouse at the end of your driveway, though you might see us working on projects around the property. We enjoy hosting, meeting our guest, and sharing local recommendations, but we'll leave you alone unless you want to say hello.

Guests will have complete access to their uptairs apartment. There may be a tenant downstairs, so we kindly ask that you be mindful of any noise that might travel through the floor. There is a buffer separating the floor from the ceiling below, but it isn't perfect.

Feel free to explore the grounds, stroll up and down the driveway, or hike to the Scatter Ridge connector trail, which leads to Stroud’s Run State Park and the playgrounds and trail system. Please refrain from wandering into our private woods, as construction on the trail is incomplete at the moment. Enjoy your stay!

While staying here, you will have all the necessary accommodations for a comfortable stay. Our eat-in kitchen contains an electric range, microwave, refrigerator, toaster, coffee maker (both traditional and k-cup style), and all essential pots, pans, and dishes.

You can relax in the family room which includes 2 new sofas and a Smart TV to log into your streaming apps and a DVD player with several DVDS. Wireless Internet is provided as well. The Loft has air conditioning in the summer months and gas heat in the winter months.

Within walking distance of an 18-hole golf course and pub, and a scenic 15-minute drive to seven state parks including Old Man's Cave. Ohio Univ. is twenty min east on 33.

This complete lower level has it’s own private entrance. Not visible from neighbors, the back yard and apartment feature a gorgeous view, and all the amenities you have at home, including a fully-equipped kitchen, television, towels, bedding, blow dryer, toiletries, and more. You will have cell phone access and wireless internet as well. Our provider is SPRINT. Our wifi is spotty, but we reboot as needed. If excellent WIFI is your top priority, you may want to choose a space with better access than we can provide.

Guests are renting the entire downstairs with a locked door between the lower level and the upper level where the hosts reside. The guest space includes a large kitchen with granite countertops and soft close cupboards and drawers, two living areas with comfortable oversized couches that recline, two large bedrooms and a full bath with slate shower. The back yard and patio area offer a hot tub, hammock, outdoor seating area, glider, and table for four. We share our home with deer, squirrels, birds (nuthatch, wrens, blue birds, red tail hawk, cardinals, crows, wild turkey, etc), and occasionally a coyote and fox. I have even seen a bobcat!
We can provide access to the laundry room with prior arrangements for those planning an extended stay.

Please note: Guests may hear birds/squirrels on the roof from time to time. The roof is the "ceiling" of the loft. Guests will also experience normal city traffic noise during their stay due to the downtown location of the loft and there is a nearby church that chimes throughout the day. Guests are required to climb a set of stairs to access the loft.

Guests staying during the summer - please be sure to utilize the "Jet" mode option on the AC Unit remote control. This will cool the loft area appropriately.

The bathroom is a full bath, however the shower is small and may not be ideal for everyone.
