It is a very short walk to the shops and restaurants in the greater Kirkwood vicinity and the neighborhood seems safe. The unit itself is very modest, but it was perfect for me visiting my kids at IU and not spending a ton of time in the room. For a small space, the kitchen is large if that's a consideration. You are below ground so it's dark and the steps down to the unit are pretty steep. The ceiling are very low. When it's just me swinging out to IU for a quick visit, this is a perfect little spot. "

The B-town overlook was rundown and in a struggling commercial district. It is advertised as “historical,” and came up in a search for Prospect Hill, which is a quiet, nice residential area. The listing is not accurate. I left after the first night and the host refused to reimburse me for my unused nights. "

This apartment is in a custom home situated on a beautiful 1.65 acre urban farmstead and is separated from the main house by sliding opaque glass wall panels. The partition locks on both sides for the security of both the guests and owners but is not noise-reducing. The upper loft/recreation room has a privacy curtain but is open to the main house. ** Guests should expect sounds from the house, farm, and its many residents including a family of six, gardeners, beekeepers, chickens, 2 hypo-allergenic dogs, and 1 outdoor cat. Likewise, the owners expect to hear sounds from guests practicing the piano or enjoying a fun game of ping pong. Quiet hours are 10pm-7am. A white noise machine and ear plugs are provided for your comfort and convenience. In addition, the living room is equipped with a high-end futon and blackout curtains and can be closed off from the main apartment to minimize noise. Still, if you prefer a quieter stay, the host will be happy to accommodate you at another In Bloom Rentals property.

The owners greatly value earth-friendly products and practices. Our convenient eastside location and quiet, leafy neighborhood make the space a great choice if you're in town for IU sporting events, Homecoming, Parents' Weekend, college visits, or just a couple of fun nights in bustling B-town. If you are up for outdoor adventures, Paynetown and Hardin Ridge State Recreation Areas are nearby as well as the Indiana mountain biking mecca, Brown County State Park.

This apartment is located in a large historic home originally built in 1875 on the edge of the prestigious Prospect Hill neighborhood ( the oldest professionally developed neighborhood in Bloomington). Over the ensuing years the home underwent subdivision into apartments and several renovations while keeping the historic charm. Step into the main lobby and enjoy the original woodwork and large doorways and huge, bright windows.

The Neighborhood:

Prospect Hill Neighborhood is located west of downtown Bloomington. Prospect Hill consists of owner-occupied and rented single family homes, plexes, small apartment buildings, large apartment buildings and commercial businesses. Amenities include Building Trades Park, Rose Hill Cemetery, and walkability and cycle routes to downtown, grocery stores, and commercial hubs.
The neighborhood was developed as a prestigious upper middle class area bordered by workers' cottages on the east, north and later to the west. It represents the only area developed as a professional residential neighborhood on the west side of town. Residents included a lawyer, a railroad conductor, storeowners and employees of the Showers Brothers furniture company.

The architecture of the district represents various "high styles" popular between 1890 and 1925, a time of growing affluence in Bloomington. The neighborhood includes Queen Anne, Free Classic and Period Revival style houses, some designed by prolific Bloomington architect John Nichols. There are also several examples of vernacular style houses, two mid-nineteenth century houses with Greek Revival and Federal details and bungalows and American four-squares of the 1920s. This diverse group of homes is a microcosm of Bloomington's overall residential history.

The Prospect Hill Historic District was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in March 1991. Within the year, district residents also established Bloomington's first locally designated historic district.

Whether you are here for work, a big game or a family event, I want everyone to have great time! I provide games, movies, books, wifi and a guidebook to help you find food and fun. Monroe County has 2 wineries & 3 lakes. We are 8 mi to Mccormick's Creek park, 5 mi to Monroe County fairgrounds, 4 mi to West side shopping and restaurants, 7 mi to Memorial Stadium, 8 mi to College mall, 19 mi to Fairfax beach, and 21 mi scenic drive to Nashville, IN.

The space
This cozy one bedroom, one bath apartment has a large living room and fully equipped kitchen. We also provide a few small appliances to make cooking more convenient and, based on a previous guest suggestion, we purchased a Brita water filter pitcher for your use. There are seasonings, canola oil, cooking spray and sugar to sweeten coffee or tea. The patio door in the dining area opens up to the private deck where there are chairs and a side table.
The bedroom has a queen bed with 9 drawer dresser and large closet. We have a tall queen size air mattress in the coat closet for extra guests (bedding is provided), and plenty of space in the living room for the air mattress to be used. The couch and love seat are comfy for sleeping if you don't want to bother with the air mattress. I installed child-proof locks and there are gates for the steps and other child safety equipment we install as needed. There is a pack and play with changing table, boppy pillow and booster style high chair provided. I also have movies, games and books. The bathroom has a bathtub with shower and a new water-saving toilet. See pictures for more information. If you have other questions, I'll be happy to answer them. We have fiber optic internet service and Directv streaming with live TV channels and on demand TV and movies. There is ductless heat and a/c in living room. A baseboard heater in the bedroom may still be used if needed.

The bus lines are extremely close and the apartment has a wonderful porch. You'll stay in a private studio with an attached full bathroom.
- Inside the studio: a queen bed, desk and chair, kitchenette with a mini fridge, and lots a closet space.
- Private bathroom: Full bathroom with a large shower and essentials (towels, soaps, etc.)
- Shared spaces: large kitchen, dining, laundry, fitness center, and living room

The space
The unit itself is called a micro-studio. Inside you'll find a modern design with a full-size bed, kitchenette with a mini fridge, a desk and a couch. The modern design continues in the attached bathroom. Inside the bathroom you'll find a large shower, sink, and toilet. We supply towels and soaps and are happy to accommodate any extra needs.

Guest access
Guests can access our common area. This area has a large kitchen, laundry facility, fitness center, and so much more. Enjoy the pop art inspired murals and furnishings.

During your stay
We have a 24-hour maintenance service for all our residents and guest.

If you are looking to stay near IU, look no more. This spacious walk out basement apartment is fully functional and newly remodeled. It comfortably accommodates four with one queen bed, one twin roll away and a double air mattress. Dining in is easy with a full kitchen including all the amenities and basic cooking supplies. A short walk to the bus stop makes getting to IU campus (~2mi), Memorial Stadium (~3mi) and Bloomington Hospital (1.3mi) very convenient.

The space
If you are traveling to Bloomington this is the perfect home base for your trip. Whether you are visiting IU, coming for a game or an appointment at Bloomington IU Hospital this is an ideal location. In a quiet neighborhood we are close to shopping and restaurants.

The apartment has one bedroom and one bathroom with a shower, kitchen, dining space and a living room. The bedroom features a comfortable queen sized bed and plenty of space to relax. With a fully equipped kitchen guests can cook their favorite meals and snacks while enjoying the comforts of home.

This is a walk out basement with a patio and yard. We do not allow smoking inside but outside is fine. We have two cats and a dog. They are friendly but won't be a nuisance and are not allowed in the apartment. Feel free to use the fire pit on the patio if you talk with the hosts first.

Sleeping arrangements include one queen bed, a double blow up mattress and a twin rollaway bed. The rollaway easily opens up in the bedroom and also can be set up in the dining or tv area. You are welcome to slide the furniture around to set up the space so it's comfortable for you.

The hosts live upstairs and there will be some noise coming thru but nothing out of the ordinary. Space heaters are provided if it's a chilly night and/or you can contact the host to turn up the heat.
