- "Great flat, great location" - "The property was in an ideal location for us as our large family was at the campsite 5 minutes walk away. The flat contained all we needed and was quiet. Tyson could not have been more helpful. I must mention for safety that the bath was so clean it was very slippery so we bought a £2 bath mat from Asda which solved the problem. We left it there for others . Thank you Tyson for a lovely second visit." - "Clean and comfortable apartment. Well equipped and just right for our needs during pandemic. Thank you."

- "Lovely property, very cosy, very friendly owners do anything for you" - "We had a great holiday staying in Gwithian. The beach was a short walk and manageable even loaded up with bags/buckets/wetsuits etc. The accommodation was fantastic, bigger than i expected and a lovely outdoor space. Tyson the manager responded quickly to any questions and requests (extra wine glasses) and made sure we had everything we needed. Didn't use the surf hire in the end but again really easy to sort out. I would recommend booking early for the pub in the village. We shopped at lidl which was only a short drive away. Overall highly recommend the accommodation and location, excellent."

Relax and inhale the sea air from a spacious, open-plan apartment with panoramic views over the iconic Godrevy Lighthouse and St. Ives Bay. In summer enjoy a glass of fizz on the balcony as the sun sets over the sea; in winter come and watch the waves crash over Godrevy island.
Tucked away on the coast in a designated Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty, only ½ mile from Gwithian surf beach and with St. Ives just across the bay, enjoy peace and tranquility in the heart of the Cornish countryside.
This apartment has been reimagined from the annexe in my family home, spread over 1 ½ floors with its own private entrance and generous balcony space.
The light, airy and modern space consists of an open-plan, boho-inspired bedroom, cosy lounge and fully-equipped kitchen spacious enough to cook up a romantic meal together.
French doors open straight onto the balcony complete with patio furniture to enjoy the sea views from with a glass of wine. If this isn't entertainment enough, you'll find a Smart TV with Netflix, a Bluetooth sound system, WiFi and a selection of Cornish books to leaf through.
For cosying up in the evening there's warm lighting, extra throws and blackout blinds, or for early risers there's ample room in this minimalist space to practice yoga or get creative as the sunlight streams in through your windows.
Downstairs you'll find a generously-sized bathroom with walk-in shower, vanity unit with his & hers sinks (or hers and hers, or his and his) and a separate toilet.
The property features keyless entry and there is ample parking on the driveway outside which is down a lane off the main road. Help yourself to some herbs from our Mediterranean herb garden on your way in.
- "I can’t say enough good things about this lovely studio in Gwithian. The owners had thought of everything you might need, even a beach bag which I had forgotten, and the quality and cleanliness of everything was exceptional. The balcony has a gorgeous view of the sea and the location is fantastic just a few minutes drive to the beach or walking distance if you wanted to. We loved our stay and will be back." - "We stayed for 14 days. The apartment felt like a home from the beginning. Everything you need is there, even plants to make it cosy and a fully equipped kitchen. The view to the sea is stunning. We saw fantastic sunsets. It is a really good starting point for everything you want to visit in Cornwall. Lucy is a fantastic host and answered all our questions immediately."

The Space:
The Rockpool is an apartment that is perfectly located for an easy holiday at the beach, with everything you need within reach. Find cosy rooms with bags of natural light, as well as stunning views across the dunes and out to sea. Paired with cool coastal hues throughout, it’s a bolthole that’ll leave you feeling refreshed in no time.
After long days exploring the coastline, hunker down in the spacious living and dining room. Enjoy watching sunsets from the comfort of the living room, or head out to see the spectacle for yourself. Rustle up delicious holiday dinners in the well-stocked kitchen, you’ll find all the mod-cons you need and more. Or head out to the local pub and restaurant below the apartment - The Rockpool, a favourite with the locals. Each morning, nothing beats waking up to the sound of the sea. Both the master bedroom and twin room have lovely views of the surrounding countryside and dunes. Meanwhile, next door is a shared family bathroom with a shower and bath unit. With so much to do right from the doorstep, The Rockpool really is the perfect spot for a memorable coastal getaway.
Guest Access:
Guests have access to the whole apartment which is situated on the first floor and and reached via a set of stairs from the ground floor.
The Neighborhood:
The Rockpool is tucked away amongst the dunes of Godrevy and Gwithian - two of the best beaches in West Cornwall. You’re a stone's throw from the beachfront, so there’s no need to worry about busy summer parking. Both beaches offer so much: fantastic surfing opportunities as well as stand-up paddling boarding. You can even book a lesson with Gwithian Surf Academy. Or, just sit back and enjoy peaceful days on the beach. There are a number of fabulous beach cafes - The Hungry Horsebox on Gwithian beach as well as the Godrevy Beach Café. Both serve delicious lunch bites and fresh bakes.
Walkers can set off straight from the door and onto the South West Coast Path - this stretch of coastline is particularly spectacular. Part of an Area of Outstanding Beauty, head past the striking Godrevy Lighthouse (known by many as inspiration for Virgina Woolf’s novels) and set off to find the famous seal colony. There are also colonies of seabirds, such as guillemots, razorbills and cormorants, which can be found nestled along the coastline.
Sunsets here are truly stunning and there are plenty of places where you can sit back and enjoy them. Nearby, you’ll find The Rockpool - a laid back beachside café that’s a firm favourite with locals thanks to its friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Step inside and find a welcoming yet vibrant vibe, with families, friends, surfers, swimmers and salty sea dogs. Other good spots in the local area include The Red River Inn, Los Establos and Chomp.
The vibrant town of St Ives and Carbis Bay are a hit all year round with their pretty beaches, cobblestone streets and charming independent shops. Both are within easy reach, and we’d highly recommend visiting the Tate as well as the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden. The Hayle Estuary, Porth Kidney Sands, Porthcurno and Sennen Cove are also within a short drive from the apartment and provide lovely days out to boot.
Find more of our local tips and tricks in our Guest Guide, which is available upon booking.
Getting Around:
Due to the remote nature of Cornwall, we would recommend bringing a car for your stay. That said, the beach is on the doorstep, so it's easy to enjoy a beach break without having to drive far! There is free parking for one car and another can be organised on request.
Other Things to Note:
The apartment is situated above the popular Rockpool pub and restaurant. Whilst this means the convenience of local amenities is at your fingertips, it also means there is more potential for noise - more on this below. So please be aware of this before booking.
In the spring and summer there is an event which runs at The Rockpool called Sunday Session, where there are DJs playing music from early evening time till between 10 pm and midnight depending on the event. All events are free for guests staying at The Rockpool. The music will either be outside under a marquee or inside the back room of the pub if the weather isn’t warm/dry enough. This does of course mean there will be noise but also means our guests can enjoy a great evening of music on the beach!
The dates for the Sunday Session are as follows:
- Sunday 30th April - A ticketed event with Charlie Boon (though free for guests), who a Radio 1 DJ
- Sunday 28th May
- Sunday 25th June
- Every Sunday from 16th July – 3rd September.
- "We chose the flat due to it's location to Godrevy Beach. It is a place we have visited for many years and so to be so near to the beach was perfect. The flat is also well equipped and clean. Has everything you require. The beach is less than 5 mins away, we hired surfboards from next door (surf school) - very friendly and helpful. The restaurant & bar below is handy for food and drink and the evening bands are great to watch while the sun is setting. Highly recommended"

The Museum offers peaceful self-contained accommodation in the heart of Gwithian Village.
Tucked between the church and pub, it's a 10 minute walk to the South West Coastal Path, and three miles of sea and sand between Godrevy and Hayle.
We offer twin beds or a double bed (let us know when you book), sitting area, kitchen, small dining table, shower bathroom and free off-road parking for one car.
With wifi, books and games we hope you'll be comfortable and happy at this special spot.
The space
The Museum is a ground floor single story building set back from the bustle of the village, with so much to see, do (and eat!) in walking distance.
Built as a private museum by a local archaeologist in the 1960s, it has been beautifully renovated in the last few years to provide a special refuge, with the sounds of rustling trees, a stream and hooting owls to lull you to sleep.
It’s perfect for you if:
-you are walking around the South West Coastal Footpath
-you are a sea fiend and are longing to get surfing / swimming / diving / all the watery pursuits
-you are coming to Cornwall to explore our incredible art galleries and museums, or perhaps here for a creative course at St Ives Art School of Painting, Newlyn School of Art or The Leach Pottery
-you are a digital nomad and need somewhere peaceful to think and work
-you want to immerse yourself in the beautiful nature of this corner of Cornwall.
Gwithian is extraordinarily full of opportunity for adventure and rest: more details in our Welcome Pack.
-Gwithian is in a designated ANOB (Area of Natural Outstanding Beauty) with public nature reserves close by including St Gothian's Sands and Gwithian Towans. With SSSI Status (Site of Special Scientific Interest) the towans are full of flora, fauna, insects including the rare blue butterfuly, and birds.
-In addition to the South West Coastal Footpath which is 10 minutes away, there are a number of local walks which take you along the coast, around the dunes and the headland by Godrevy Lighthouse. For much of the year the seal colony is at Mutton Cove. We have binoculars to borrow if you want to spot the gorgeous pups.
-There are two surf schools here for all ages and levels. You can also hire out boards (surf, body, kayak, SUP) and all the kit.
-There are horse riding schools close by for a rural trek or a gallop along the beach.
-You can hire an e-bike with maps for rides near and far.
-There is evidence of human occupation here going back millenia, and a trove of archaeology and history to discover. We have books and information to help you explore.
OR just grab a beach towel and blanket and go and lie on the sand with a good book! We have lots to choose from.
We have a fantastic range of cafes and restaurants all in walking distance here. These are just some of them . .
- Next door is The Red River Inn, a beloved local pub which does great local beer and excellent food. In May and September they have a weekend festival with live music which you can hear from The Museum - it finishes by 11, and best just to join in! Check their website for dates.
-The two campsites in the village have small basic shops, and both do pop up food stalls in the summer at the weekends.
-Lula Restaurant / Shack is open day time and evening and has a lovely Mediterranean vibe.
-The Jam Post cafe is a local institution, cream tea with a view of the sea.
-The Gwithian Beach National Trust car park has a great cafe open during the day.
- Sallie's Vintage Ice Cream Van is our favourite, in the car park by the lighthouse - a perfect 20 minute walk from The Museum.
Guest access
Guests have sole private use of The Museum.
Access is through the family garden, which we are currently giving a bit of an overhaul - apologies it might look a bit scruffy ! We are sorry that we cannot offer guests the use of the garden at this time, but luckily the beach and nature reserves are steps away.
Enter through the garden gate at the back, and walk up the (uneven) stone path to the first stable door into The Museum.
We have two very friendly dogs. They may be in the garden when you arrive and leave. If you are worried about dogs, come to the front door and we will make sure they are not in the garden when you are walking through.
PLEASE make sure that you don't let the dogs out of the garden, and always close the gates carefully after you.
Other things to note
PHONES
There is very patchy reception for most service providers in the village, so you will need to connect to the wifi which is set up in The Museum in order to use your phone.
WIFI
At the moment the WiFi connection is from the house and is also a bit patchy through the granite walls! It works best if you are by one of the windows inside the museum. You have books, games and a radio to keep you entertained so maybe embrace the digital detox!
BREAKFAST
We can offer you the following breakfast package for you to cook. We hope this is helpful if you arrive on foot or too late for shops. Please make sure to let us know when you book if you would like this, and on how many days.
Breakfast £20 for two or £15 for one
~ all from local suppliers -
free range organic eggs
Bacon
Mushrooms
Bread
Butter
Marmalade and Jam
Tomatoes
TOWELS
We provide bath towels and and beach towels, and beach blankets to borrow for lazy days.
DOGS
We have two dogs who are very friendly, but they do bark sometimes (as dogs do!). We will try our best to make them not bark during the quiet hours of 10pm and 8 am. PLEASE make sure that the gates are closed after you and that the dogs can't run out to the busy road.
