Cruzan Gardens is a WORKING Nursery/landscape company - the studio is private but is adjacent to where workers will be performing periodic duties. Owners will make every effort to respect guests' privacy and quiet space.

Property is gated- guests will be provided an automatic gate opener to access 24/7 parking in the retail parking area. There is a short walk from the parking area to the studio on the property. Guests will need to be physically capable of walking a short distance from their vehicle to the studio.

Deer regularly pass through the property and drive. Just 10 minutes from Cane Bay Beach and some of the world's best scuba diving off "The Wall." Only 15 minutes from downtown Christiansted, and 20 minutes from downtown Fredericksted, this property is centrally located if you're looking to venture across the island during your trip! The owner of the property is happy to take you on guided hikes to the tide pools, lighthouse, into the rain forest to see the beer drinking pigs, or better yet take you to some of the best shore diving spots on the island. The 1 bedroom comes equipped with a full size bed, and a twin size day bed . A kitchen with gas stove, microwave, and fridge also await you at The Mermaid. A desk at the window is the perfect place to get some work done. The Mermaid Rest is part of the Windchime Estates, a property known for it's constant Eastern breezes, and built from pieces of the late trimaran which sailed the world twice, Windchime! You'll want to rent a Jeep while staying at the property as the roads on the island can be rough to drive at times. WIFI and a light breakfast is included, and so is your very own bottle of Cruzan Rum! You will absolutely love your stay at The Mermaid! Full use of the apartment named The Mermaid, and access to an outdoor gazebo, as well as the patio with swing in-front of the apartment. We're very friendly, and love meeting new people. We also understand when you just want to be alone or do your own thing! Happy to help when needed, or head out to a bar or restaurant too! We live on the North Shore Scenic Route, with some of the best views of the island. Our home and apartments sit above Windsor's Forest, a nature preserve. Deer regularly roam through the neighborhood and yard. We're just a few minutes from Cane Bay Beach, 10-15 from Christiansted, and 15-20 from Fredericksted. One of the most central spots on the island. You'll need to rent a car if you're staying with us on the North Shore, preferably with some height to it to help with the mountain roads. We recommend a Jeep. On the island, many of the roads are unpaved, or need to be repaved (pot holes everywhere!) Do not wait until the last minute to try and secure a rental vehicle. Make your reservation now. With workers and tourists, many times and vehicles cannot be secured the same day you arrive without a reservation. Besides, renting a Jeep means you get to take the top off and enjoy the island life the way it should be! :) We live in the mountains on St. Croix. It's beautiful, but the roads are not always maintained well by the Virgin Islands Government. We live on a dirt road, require you have a car rental at minimum (no public transport), and we recommend that you rent a Jeep or SUV when staying with us. In general, roads on St. Croix are not that great. Jeeps are the most popular vehicles on island, so be sure to rent one early!

We own two, small, timid dogs and secure them in a fenced enclosure in the backyard.

This special countryside location on our beautiful tropical island paradise, offers you a unique, comfortable and cozy place to stay. It is centrally located, just 15 minutes from the airport. It is perfect for those who are interested in relaxing at the beach, playing golf or zip lining on the north shore side of the island. There is designated parking and a nice kitchenette for our guest. For the animal lovers, you would see we have chickens, goats, cats & 2/dogs.

This lovely bedroom efficiency is located downstairs it is comfortable and cozy. Decorated in the ocean colors and tropical plants to give you that tranquil and relaxing feeling on your vacation or few days get away in this tropical paradise. Relaxing with the television, wifi and air condition after your day at the beach or relax under the mango tree with a book. There is a small patio just outside the door. The yard is shared with others and guest parking is assigned. You are a few minutes from restaurant, grocery stores, Sunny Isle Shopping Center and 15min from the Airport.

You will need a rental car on the island. While you are here be mindful we drive on the left side. We have two towns Christiansted and Frederiksted which we refer to as east side and west side.

From the property, see dive buoys on the famous Cane Bay Wall, perfect for SCUBA fans. A Trent Jones golf course is minutes away, also horseback riding, four restaurants, snorkeling, sailing, beaches, kayaks, Cane Bay Beach, and Salt River National Park. The apartment is downstairs. Guests may enjoy the porch upstairs during the daytime

The space
SECLUDED, PEACEFUL, COUNTRY. Hike, snorkel, dive, ride horses, golf, kayak, or relax, but if you want a hotel, this is not for you. Rough driveway; rent something rear-wheel drive with some ground clearance and you'll be fine.
Decent and clean, this is a SIMPLE space. Two-burner electric cooktop, microwave, crockpot, single sink; small refrigerator with a small freezer. No dishwasher. Cozy and adequate, but bare-bones, with WI-FI, Roku, and some movie channels. Double bed and two single pull-outs. No air conditioning, but constant breezes, and fans.

We have small lizards all over the house and the island. They are harmless, cute, and eat mosquitoes. If they freak you out, please stay somewhere that uses an exterminator, and enjoy your chemo later.

Parking is at the foot of the yard, 50' walk, except when unloading, when you can feel free to drive up to the door.

Other things to note
This property is about relaxation and the beauty of nature. Do Not come here to visit family; they probably don't live anywhere near the Northshore. If you are a city-oriented person, you would be better off staying in a hotel in town. The four nearby restaurants close at nine. Nightlife is a half-hour away. This is a cabin (though concrete), rustic and simple. And don't forget: rent a Jeep, or SUV with positive traction. Don't try to come up here with a little cheap rental car; it will not make it. Used Jeeps are available to rent for less, message me for information. And yes, the views are breathtaking.

The owner lives upstairs and is available for any questions or advice concerning activities on island.
