This adorable studio was remodeled summer, 2024 so everything is brand new and has everything any one would need. It is located one block from the Museum of Art as well as downtown so no need to get in your car. Our guesthouse sits right behind our main house which is on the beautiful historic 6th Ave. one block from town. You can park behind our house and beside the guesthouse.

Our studio/guesthouse has a king size bed so you will sleep well after exploring Laurel all day. The blackout curtains will keep out the light so you can sleep late if you'd like.

There's a little kitchennette with microwave, refrigerator, sink, and Keurig coffee maker. Enjoy a slow start to your day sipping a cup of coffee with the coffee pods that we provide.

Relax with a hot shower or bath at the end of your fun day in Laurel since the bathroom has a full size tub with a shower. No need to bring soap, etc. as shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel is here for your convenience. We installed a magnifying mirror to help with putting on makeup. A hair blower is also provided.

There's plenty of space to put your clothes in the wardrobe and dresser so you don't feel like you're living out of a suitcase.

If you feel like taking some time off from shopping and need a little down time, relax on our love sofa that reclines. Raise your legs while you watch TV on the new smart TV or enjoy reading a good book. We offer free wifi so you have access to the internet. You'll feel rejuvenated after a rest in our quiet neighborhood.

Come stay in this newly renovated historical second- story home. While having a touch of new, many of the original touches were preserved, giving you that cozy feeling you are looking for in a nice get away to rest and visit Home Town Laurel. After a comfortable nights sleep on our memory foam queen size bed, enjoy a nice cup of coffee in our sunroom. Just a short walk to all of the shops and restaurants in downtown as well as many of the homes renovated by Ben and Erin's Hometown show on HGTV. To help with your stay we will have maps and a guide to all the fun to do's in downtown Laurel. This is a 2nd story duplex, the entire upstairs unit is for guests with private entrance.
Please note: we live on the bottom floor with small children and it can get a little noisy, a sound machine and ear plugs are provided, and we promise to be as respectful of your visit as possible.

Exactly as advertised, exceptional customer service and within walking distance to charming shops and restaurants in downtown Laurel. As fans of the HGTV show, we wanted the full Laurel/Mississippi/Historic Reno experience and we got it in the beautiful, yet simply appointed Author's Suite. Apartment is clean and new, living area is cozy and bedroom invites a comfortable night's sleep. Location is A+ as it sits on the edge of the historic downtown, allowing you to start your day at the Coffee and Tea Shop, meander through all the shops downtown and end the evening with dinner and a visit for ice cream at the Creamery, without ever retracing your steps or using your car. We extended our walk to the historic 5th Ave homes and Museum - not an inconvenience given the Author's Suite location. Highly recommend a Monday-through-Thursday arrival to this property and enjoy the following two complete days of soaking-in the charm and history of Laurel. (Much of downtown Laurel is closed Sunday/Monday) We really appreciate the work put into the design/creation of The Author's Suite and would be delighted to stay here again."

We promise the best views of all the downtown action. You have use of entire apartment! You have the option of face to face check in or self check in. A code will be sent by Airbnb but Liz or Emily are never far! In the heart ❤️ of downtown!!! Walking distance to everything, great restaurants, shops and all attractions! Most everything is walking distance and you can also drive if you choose! I’m working on getting bikes for rent if you’d like let me know!!

Accessibility

Unfortunately, we do not have an elevator. Please be aware before booking that access to The Buzzard’s Roost Inn is by stairwell only.

We’ve received many questions about accessibility and ADA compliance, and we want to be fully transparent.

As a business—and more importantly, as humans—we never want anyone to feel forgotten or excluded. We understand that not all guests can comfortably or safely climb stairs with luggage.

Our decision not to install an elevator was not taken lightly. The building is over 100 years old—so old, in fact, that we don’t know the exact year it was built.

Because of its age and structural limitations, the building cannot support a new interior elevator shaft. An exterior installation would require construction in the uneven back alley behind the building, where there is no available parking and limited accessibility. Guests would have to walk from Oak Street across unpaved ground to reach an outdoor elevator—something that, at this time, is not financially feasible or safe to implement.

That said, it is our hope that in the coming years, we will be able to make meaningful changes to improve accessibility within the Inn.

Regarding ADA Compliance

§ 36.404 Alterations: Elevator exemption

(a) This section does not require the installation of an elevator in an altered facility that is less than three stories or has less than 3,000 square feet per story, except with respect to any facility that houses a shopping center, a shopping mall, the professional office of a health care provider, a terminal, depot, or other station used for specified public transportation, or an airport passenger terminal.

We fall under this exemption, as The Buzzard’s Roost Inn is less than 3,000 square feet per story and less than three stories tall.

Historic Loft located above The Laurel Leaf, one of Laurel's most charming and unique businesses. Its open, stylish space offers visitors a tasteful downtown experience. The loft also sits only steps away from HGTV Home Town stars Ben and Erin Napier's Laurel Mercantile Co and is in walking distance to other small-town favorites!

The space
Soon after Laurel was established in 1882, it quickly began growing in the lumber industry. By the early 20th century, it processed and shipped out the most yellow pine in the world. This pine formed what is known today as The Laurel Leaf building.

From the colorfully comfortable entrance to the beautifully furnished bedrooms, the loft boasts a chic 2500 square feet with a warm and sophisticated atmosphere. Over the years, many businesses have occupied this building. Built in 1904, it opened as a HUB store (general merchandise store), then became the first Piggly Wiggly in Laurel. Later, the store became the annex to a high-end retail store known as Fine Brothers, and then became Smith & Son, a retail clothing store.

The Laurel Leaf is open Tues-Sat, 9am-5pm.

Historic apartment overlooking Downtown Laurel's Magnolia Street. This newly renovated building offers not only spacious rooms but also quick access to Historic Laurel's most popular restaurants and shops, as well as to HGTV's Home Town locations! The Hamilton on Magnolia is the perfect experience for a stylish, comfortable stay in the heart of Downtown Laurel.

The space
Unique layout, where every door leads into pleasantly vibrant living spaces. With four bedrooms and two and a half baths, the apartment offers up to 2500 square feet of relaxation. This is the perfect spot for a ladies' getaway!

Since being built in 1902, the building has served Laurel well. The apartment gets the name Hamilton from Hamilton Graves Menswear store, the store that occupied the building for fifty-three years. Their origional safe is found in the living room to the right of the TV.

Other things to note
The stairs are very steep leading up to the apartment.
Luxe Tanning is located at the bottom of the building and provides massage therapy services!

This property has special local compliance requirements which include a signed rental agreement, ID verification, and a security hold of $250 (which is not a traditional security deposit, just a pending transaction). As an optional alternative to the security hold, you may opt in to purchase a non-refundable damage waiver provided by a third-party insurance company. The optional damage waiver is $39 for stays up to 10 nights, with an additional $2 per day for stays longer than 10 nights. Damage waiver purchases are optional.
