Full of original art and an impressive collection of hand-made pottery, we are a technology light establishment meaning that there are no televisions in the rooms. However, in a nod to tech, free Wi-Fi is available and device charging stations are in all rooms. So bring your Kindle or that book you’ve intended to read, or simply choose a paperback from our extensive complimentary collection. The space
This 1 bedroom historic cottage has been updated throughout the years, while still maintaining its vintage charm. Two people can share the space comfortably.

The cottage includes a bedroom with a queen bed and closet. The living has a mid-century modern inspired chaise lounge and bench, a mad-men era dry bar (used as the tv stand), and vintage side table. The kitchen features a refrigerator, stove, coffee maker and microwave, and the bathroom contains a claw foot tub with shower head. There is a small table and two chairs outside for your enjoyment.

This cottage is about 100 years old and is located in a safe and quiet historic neighborhood, close to both the river and downtown. It is one of three homes on the property, including the main house, a 2 bedroom apartment over the carriage house, and the 1 bedroom cottage. The main house was built in 1907 and the other dwellings were built shortly afterward.

Guest access
Parking for the cottage is in the main driveway, which is shared. If you are uncomfortable navigating the crooked driveway, you may park in the street.

Other things to note
We recently replaced the water heater. Formally, guests were limited to a 5 shower, but now guests can take nice long showers or enjoy a bath!

Boundary Ave. where the Live Oaks create an incredible canopy and the historic Colleton Ave. Cottage has exposed wood beams, butcher block counters, tiled bathroom, and a soft leather couch & new tempurpedic mattress with quality bedding/towels/linens to make your stay more comfortable.

The cathedral ceiling in the family room/kitchen area give this 330sf space architectural interest while the bay windows make it extremely bright and airy. The kitchenette is compact but has everything you need to cook a full course meal and the high end cabinets have soft close doors & drawers to make your kitchen time more enjoyable.

The space has a separate bedroom with an extremely comfortable Queen size tempurpedic mattress and high quality sheets, bedding and pillows. The bathroom is fully tiled with a good size shower that has nice water pressure and we stock it with large, nice quality bath towels.

Swallow Dip is our historic registered 1890 Winter Colony residence and gardens in walkable downtown Aiken. The primary residence is perfectly positioned within the grounds to enjoy a surround of gardens within walls and pillars of brick and iron gates with walkways throughout. The Cottage of Swallow Dip is nestled in a privately fenced pool garden outlined with mature camellia and boxwood hedges and an owner shared shade tree patio accessed through the pergola capped french doors of the cottage’s living and sleeping quarters. The private cottage patio and herb garden are accessed by an east facing glass door along the kitchen’s wall of windows overlooking the pool and gardens. The cottage is bathed in windows and light with a southern view over the residence herb garden fence to the neighboring Winter Colony barns and residences that line the walkable block to the Aiken Historical Museum and the South Boundary Hitchcock Woods Gateway Park entrance, where dogs can play and horses can be prepped before entering a beautiful walk or ride in the woods.

The topography of the grounds is not wheelchair/walker accessible or suitable for those with walking or balance difficulties due to gravel walk and low brick stairs and pathways.

Karlos, the German Shepherd, is vocally energetic and enthusiastic in his greetings. Devo, the Lurcher is our senior boy and can be a bit shy. Both boys are well socialised and gentle. Please do not invite our dogs into the cottage as we have an electric dog fence and they will be shocked if inside.

We provide linens, a fully stocked kitchen, initial toiletries, and free laundry facilities for guests who are staying longer than 1 week.   We have many equestrian professionals who stay the winter while training in our wonderful facilities across Aiken, and we also love to host guests for the masters as well as other events in the local area.

Every space is outfitted for your needs and we will offer weekly cleanings for longer term guests.

It is a lower level unit which over looks our beautiful pool!This  property hosts up to 3 Adults comfortably.  This property includes everything you need to have a great stay: 100% cotton Linens, soft fluffy towels, meticulously maintained grounds, sitting areas inside and outside the property, free WIFI, cable,free parking,  fully stocked kitchen, and coffee for your stay! 

The space
This is a lower level apartment which is approximately 600 sq feet of private living space. It has a seating area on a patio so that you can enjoy quiet sitting both inside and outside of your space. 

These spaces are set up for short term or long term stays. We provide linens, a fully stocked kitchen, initial toiletries, and free laundry facilities for guests who are staying longer than 1 week.   We have many equestrian professionals who stay the winter while training in our wonderful facilities across Aiken, and we also love to host guests for the masters as well as other events in the local area.

Every space is outfitted for your needs and we will offer weekly cleanings for longer term guests.

Please note pool use is for guests with an active reservation. Additional guests Policy: Any guests over the original reservation will be charged $20/day/guest to use the pool.

The space
Formerly a Governor's house, "Someday" the main residence was moved to Aiken in 1930 and the guest cottage was added at that time.
