Enjoy your stay in our peaceful studio apartment. It is the perfect, private oasis within a beautiful lakeside suburban community.
Our space is located above our second garage and has a separate entrance from our home. There is plenty of parking for you in the driveway, or Uber at your convenience.
Our property boasts over 1.8 acres, home to an abundance of deer that linger close by. We also have two fire pits and a gas grill available for use.
Stays must be a minimum of 90 days.
The space
This is a studio apartment with one queen bed and one pullout sofa bed. The bathroom includes a standing shower, however note there is not a tub.
There is a kitchenette, which includes a sink, refrigerator, 2 burner electric stovetop, microwave and toaster oven. Some additional appliances may be available as well, such as a crockpot and instapot.
The studio has its own entrance and is a separate building from the main home. It is located above the second garage. There is a separate staircase leading to the door and a keypad to get inside.
We recently acquired backyard chickens. 🐓 Although they were supposed to be all hens, we ended up with one rooster. The rooster does crow in the morning, which may add to the nostalgia of the place or may drive you crazy. 😜 If the latter, please reach out before booking to discuss.
The backyard is mainly wooded. In the spring and summer, it is very private and beautifully landscaped. During the winter, you may be able to see the lake, if you squint!
Access to 2 kayaks, home gym, golf cart and home movie theater may be available for use during your stay, pending availability. Please ask for additional details.
Please note that the City ordinance requires stay of no less than 90 days. Given the 90-day duration requirement, cleaning services may be available bi-weekly or monthly for an additional fee.
Parking is available in the driveway, shared with the homeowners. There is enough room to get to the bottom of the driveway to park closest to the studio apartment entrance. The driveway can be a little tricky to navigate with the hill, so please take your time and ask for help if you need it. There is plenty of room for on-street parking as well.
For additional fee(s), we will consider allowing one well-trained, well-kept, non-aggressive, house-trained dog, however no cats. Dogs must not have any separation anxiety and be kid-friendly. Note that the property is not fenced in. Other pets may be considered on a case by case basis.
Please note there is not a washer and dryer available for use.
Guest access
The studio apartment is 100% yours. If you’d like to use the yard or either of the fire pits, you are welcome to as well. Our family is outside frequently, so just note that the yard is shared space. That being said, if we are outside, please feel free to join us. We love getting to know our guests - whether it’s coffee on the back patio or an adult beverage by the fire!

The space
Nestled in the back of a 2 acre property amidst a gorgeous pool and nosy goats this unit is very private. Driveway and pool are shared but living space is a single unit.
Guest access
Guests have private access to The Cottage including dedicated parking. The pool, spa, and backyard are shared spaces, but The Cottage itself is entirely yours. When you arrive, please follow the driveway past the main house to find The Cottage.
Other things to note
The pool and spa are available from May through September and are shared with the main house. While staying, you might see or hear our friendly goats in the backyard—they’re a guest favorite! If you’re visiting during cooler months, The Cottage remains a warm and cozy retreat.
South Charlotte offers a wide variety of attractions and activities for every type of traveler. You’ll find all kinds of restaurants nearby, from casual dining to upscale experiences, especially in Ballantyne and Pineville. For entertainment, Carowinds Amusement Park is just a short drive away, offering thrilling rides and family-friendly fun. Shopping lovers can explore Tanger Outlets for great deals or SouthPark Mall for a high-end retail experience. For outdoor adventure, the U.S. National Whitewater Center provides rafting, climbing, and hiking opportunities. The space
Our Carriage House is located on a quiet road overlooking Lake Wylie. It is a stand alone structure located near our home. The private Suite is a clean, fresh and airy, one room studio-style room with a full kitchen, bathroom, and laundry area. The views from the suite are peaceful and amazing!
We are generally on site and will access other portions of the Carriage House from time to time.
Guest access
FREE on road or driveway parking.
Guests are encouraged to use the white double decker dock, rocking chairs, hammock, backyard, porch and courtyard area.
Other things to note
There is a no smoking, vaping, burning things (i.e. candles, incense), or doing illegal drugs in the Carriage House Suite. There us a $500 fine and we will ask you to leave. (Except for the illegal part... what you do outside is your business)
