Our carriage house is located in the back of our historic home which was built in 1897 by prominent businessman Soren Sorenson. The main house is one of the few Edwardian Vernacular style in the district with traces of the Queen Anne style of architecture.

Location, location, location and cute! Welcome to our converted 1938 stone garage in the historic 9th Street District with modern amenities and great neighborhood life. Walk to Clear Creek, downtown, multiple breweries, recreation center, a weekly Saturday farmer's market June through September, numerous trails and all Golden has to offer.

The space
This tiny house was originally a detached stone one car garage built in 1938. It now includes all the modern amenities needed for your visit to Golden, including energy efficient insulation, heating, cooling, wifi, TV and a small kitchen space. It is amazing how big and comfortable 190 square feet can feel.
We are located on a corner lot and live in the main house. You will have "The Dog House" all to yourself. We have named the space the Dog House after our late dog Jack, who prior to the conversion would sleep in the garage when the weather got warmer or when he got caught in the rain.
Guest access
You will have full access to the Dog House. It is complete with a queen murphy bed, bathroom with a shower and a mini kitchen area. The kitchen includes a refrigerator/freezer, cooktop, microwave and sink. The kitchen is also fully furnished with plates, silverware, pots and other cooking utensils. If you need anything else just let us know...we are right next door.
The front door has a key pad and we will provide you with a code to get inside. Both doors to the Dog House have dead bolt locks but I personally think this is one of the safest towns around.
The back door to the Dog house enters our backyard which is shared with our main house. You are more than welcome to explore the property.
Other things to note
Golden is a very popular destination in the summer time. Beautiful weather, great parks, breweries, festivals and other attractions have made this a destination in itself. We are only a block from the popular Clear Creek park/trail that runs through Golden and toward the Coors brewery. It is very popular when the temperature rises and creek levels drop for tubers and kayakers to cool off in the creek. We are also less than a block from the weekly farmer's market.
Because of the high demand for our public parks, we now have permitted parking enforced in the neighborhood during the day. Neighborhood parking permits are free and you can register your vehicle at ParkGoldenCO(dot)com prior to or when you arrive as a free Short Term Rental parking permit good for on street parking in front of the rental. Reference Short Term Rental Permit STR-24-0017. You will need to upload proof of stay at the Dog House for your free parking permit.

Welcome! Massage Frills, Newly remodeled, Detached guesthouse : Sleeps 4 adults comfortably but keep in mind the guest House is only 400 sq ft, it can sleep 6 adults but it will be very crowded and the hot water heater only holds 40 gallons. Also during the cold winter nights it is necessary to keep a low drip on the kitchen faucet so pipes won’t freeze. The guest house includes 2 Bedrooms with Full Size Beds (which practically take up the entire room), Full size bathroom with shower which includes a chair in it. The living area has a new Ikea couch that turns into a Queen Size sleeping area for two. Each bedroom has a tiny closet area. In the main living area is the full body massage chair, sit and relax with heat to get a full body massage after the end of a long mountain bike or ski day (Eldora ski resort is a mere 45 minute drive away). Modern, neat, and basic, for the minimalist who wants comfort.
Don’t be turned away by the rural feel of our neighborhood, it looks a bit ghetto as you drive in, stay calm, its safe, clean, and super convenient and right next to the Colorado sheriffs storage facility and highway patrol. The location, privacy of your unit is awesome! I am onsite to help you every step of the way, or to let you be if that’s what you prefer. I am a Colorado Native, so if you have questions please ask.
Convenient location, walk to the Enterprise Car Rental which is two blocks away, 6 minute drive to Colorado School of Mines, 5 minute drive (30 minute walk to hop the light rail downtown/airport).
PETS:
All pets including ESA will be charged $10 each day per pet. The only exception is Service animals and ESA animals that are never left alone in unit (surveillance cameras outside by parking spaces used for verification). Pets may be left alone in the units and if they are trained they do not need to be kenneled, but if there’s any damage to the unit that must be reimbursed by guests. The pet fee goes to the cleaning lady (we did not charge in the past and she spent hours trying to get pet Hair out of the units (mostly on the couch).
Guests with bikes can ride to old town sit on the patio at the local bar, for happy hour, or take in a breath -taking ride along the clear creek trail then stop in at Golden City Brewery after to meet some locals and travelers alike. Hike up Table Mesa a 10 minute drive or 30 minute bike ride away. Restaurants, dive bars off the beaten path, excellent Mexican food, or head up to Golden Gate Canyon then stop in for a poker game in Black Hawk CO, 30 minute drive through majestic Colorado, all such a short drive away. Tube down the river in the summer, or Kayak just a 10 minute drive away. Want to take in a Baseball game downtown or hit up the Posh Rhino art district? Easy, just hop the light rail train to be in the heart of downtown Denver in minutes.
House rules: 420 friendly, but non-smoking indoors. No smoking inside at all, but you can outside. Quiet hours: Please wind down by midnight, if you come home past then no problem, but please keep it down. Please notify me if you have a dog in advance, I charge $ 10 extra per day for each dog, Max 2, and a refundable deposit based on the length of your stay. Same for cats but you must have a litter box.
Cupboards may also have random dry goods, spices, oils. Coffee is complimentary. Hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner, extra towels. All that you need plus some.

The space
PROPERTY: The lovingly maintained Carriage House is centrally located in the 9th Street Historic District and within a few blocks from downtown Golden (for shopping and restaurants), across the street from Clear Creek and Lion’s Park, as well as close to many hiking trails. The Carriage House apartment resides above our detached garage and has its own separate entrance and parking from the alley. We live in the front house and always happy to answer any questions about the apartment or about anything “Golden!”
KITCHEN: Fully-equipped custom kitchen has stainless steel appliances and granite countertops. If you prefer to eat in, it has a gas range, microwave/convection oven, plenty of prep space and is stocked with the cooking basics, spices, coffee maker, Crock-Pot and toaster. We also have an outdoor gas grill for your use. Safeway, our local grocery store, is only one mile away.
LIVING ROOM: The living area has a comfortable L-shaped couch and a relaxing gathering space. The large smart TV has DISH cable (including ESPN+) and a Blu-Ray player in the main room. If you have your own account with Netflix or Amazon, you can stream your own movies. There is a Samsung Sound Bar that is Bluetooth to connect your favorite music on your Bluetooth device or phone. There are many board games to play along with a great library of books to use as well!
OUTDOOR LIVING: Many of our past guests have remarked that the large deck, or what many call it as the "Tree House," is one of the many great features of this property and has views of Lookout Mountain, Clear Creek and Lion’s Park. The comfortable patio furniture is a great spot to kick up your feet, entertain, or just read a book and enjoy the ambiance of the surrounding area. There is a gas fire pit on the deck to enjoy Colorado's year round beautiful (and seasonal) evenings and catch up with friends and family around the fire.
MASTER/MAIN BATHROOM: Recently updated in November 2023, the unit has one large custom 4-piece bathroom that includes travertine tile, walk-in European shower (with a rain shower head), double vanity and be sure to relax in the jetted tub!
BEDROOM 1 (SLEEPS 2): Master bedroom with king bed, high quality mattress and bedding along with Smart TV. Room has a closet to hang up clothes and plenty of space in the dresser for personal items.
BEDROOM 2 (SLEEPS 2): Queen bed with high quality mattress and bedding. Room has a closet to hang up clothes and plenty of space in the dresser for personal items.
ADDITIONAL SLEEPING: If there is a 5th person, they can sleep on the sectional couch. We also have a Pack ‘n Play/Portable Crib stored in the closet.
BASIC AMENITIES: There is a stackable washer and dryer in the apartment for guests to use. The apartment is stocked with basic amenities such as kitchen supplies, laundry soap, dishwasher pods, iron/ironing board, hair dryer, shampoo/conditioner and miscellaneous cleaning supplies.
FAQ: The apartment has its own internet/WiFi. Important to note is that the unit is located on the second floor and guests will need to go up the outdoor stairs to enter apartment.
PARKING & STORAGE: The carport has room for one to two cars (depending on size). Additional cars will need to park in nearby street parking. For you bikers, kayakers, etc. we have storage available for your equipment! Please message us prior to check in for storage instructions. There is a shed right next to your parking spot that will fit plenty of equipment.
POLICIES: We have a strict no smoking policy. We own and love our own pets but unfortunately yours needs to stay home.

A peaceful two-bedroom apartment with a sofa sleeper available to accommodate 6 people extra charge per day per guest after 4. There is one central bathroom and a large living area, dining space with a full kitchen. The guesthouse sits atop a quiet garage that only gets opened a few times a day and is one story of stairs up from the private parking space accessible from a very safe, well lit and clean alleyway.

The house and parking are accessed from the alley between 9th and 8th Street, accessible from Maple or Illinois St. Park one or two small cars (the parking can feel a bit tight specially for large vehicles, but is very doable) on the west side of the building. Enter through the west door with your own private code.

Near the heart of Golden, this guesthouse resides above our oversized 3-car garage, and is separate from our main house. Free onsite parking and a separate entrance makes this the perfect place to unwind after your festivities. Please note that we have a steep, wide staircase that could be hazardous for small children.
We do not allow large gear, including skis, snowboards and bicycles, inside the studio. This is a brand-new home, and unfortunately we’ve already had to make repairs due to damage caused by ski equipment. As such, the owner has requested that equipment be kept outside. You should be able to securely store everything in your vehicle, as we have excellent lighting and security cameras in the parking area. We appreciate your understanding!

With beautiful parks and being within walking distance of the School of Mines, you will have easy access to many of Golden's highlights. In addition there are many Colorado attractions a short drive away - Boulder, Denver, Golden Gate Canyon State Park to name a few.

We do have a parking pass available to guests that allows street parking within the block of the Loft. The garages are not usable for parking due to the tight nature of the single car garage & owner use of the double garage. If you are in town to explore downtown Golden or visit a student at the School of Mines, you are within walking distance to both.

Though access to the space is reached with just a couple of stairs, upon entry there is a flight of stairs into the living room.
Also Golden short term rental regulations limit the number of guests to 4 unrelated persons staying in a short term rental.

We are also located across the street from the School of Mines. 2 blocks to the river, and 3 blocks to the Mines Stadium. Easy access to golf, mountain biking, river tubing, hiking, and much more. There is a great patio with views of Golden and the mountains, as well as a BBQ.
