With ocean and forest views and a tranquil wilderness setting, "Moonlight View" cottage near Johanna Beach is a perfect resting place for Great Ocean Road travellers and holiday-makers. This 2 bedroom self-contained cottage with balcony, is attached to my owner-built bluestone home on a 5-acre piece of paradise. The Otway National Park edges the property, creating a lovely atmosphere of seclusion and peace, also enjoyed by birds and wildlife.
The space
The well-insulated interior space of Moonlight View cottage consists of two small, cosy bedrooms, a kitchen/living room, a toilet with handbasin, and a separate shower, plus a lovely balcony looking out over forest and with a view of the sea.
You will be the only guests, so all of these rooms are for your use only. Heating and cooling is taken care of with a very effective split-system aircon/heater in the living area. There are also double gazed windows throughout, helping to keep you warm in the colder months and cool through the summer nights.
The light and sunny living room looks out onto a gorgeous view of Johanna Beach. There are two 2-seater couches and a solid timber dining table (with drop sleeves). The main bedroom, perfect for a couple, contains a queen-sized bed and the second bedroom contains a double bed.
You will also have private access to a balcony, accessible via the sliding glass doors in the living room.

Guest access
Guests have their own private access to the cottage via the lockable single car garage, and also via the private balcony. I will send you instructions of where to get the key before arrival. You are also welcome to walk around the 5 acres of grounds and enjoy the tall, shady trees and the lovely bush garden space.
Other things to note
Kitchen:
Please note that there is no oven in the kitchen. There is, however, a microwave, a 4 burner electric cooktop, a camp-style plug in electric oven (if you really want to bake a cake), an electric slow cooker, an electric frying pan, and a gas BBQ (kept under the tarp in the garage). There is also a full-size fridge with freezer.
Bathroom:
I've recently renovated the bathroom area. The shower is separated from the toilet and handbasin, with each room having its own lockable door, offering full privacy.
Drinking water:
The tapwater is pure, clean and drinkable.
Water pressure:
The water arrives at the taps from a header tank (at the top of the property) and via gravity (ie not pump). The pressure is fine, but not strong. The hot water is not immediate - it takes a minute to kick in, so let the tap run and you will soon feel the temperature change from cold to hot.
Internet:
Internet access is newly available and reliable. The cottage also has a new TV with built-in DVD, and a good, diverse supply of films for you to enjoy, so if you like some screen time in the evenings, you can choose from my collection or bring some favorites with you on disc or USB.
