Margaretville Mountain Inn, a Queen Anne victorian circa 1886 is located in the heart of the Catskill mountains. Sit a while on the 80 ft. wrap around porch with mountains views that greet you at every turn. Stay and soak in the fresh air and clean water of this beautiful countryside inn or star gaze at night up in the fields. A truly relaxing atmosphere from a by gone era. Every room is decorated in a different victorian style with modern bathrooms. We have King rooms and Queen rooms and a suite that sleeps 4. A full country breakfast is included and prepared by the innkeeper herself. Food allergies will be accomodated along with diet restrictions. Please inform staff prior to arrival of any food allergies and accomodations.
We have a hot tub for guests located in the milk house next to the 1915 historic barn. It is open all year long. We have bathrobes and towels for your convenience. If you prefer, one can sit by the fire in the parlor or the fire pit outside. All situated on 26 acres and is an ideal spot for weddings. Our other barn, the carriage house wedding barn accomodates 125 people. If intested, please make a separate inquiry and we will get back to you.
There are many things to do in the area, hiking, fishing , boating, skiing, snow tubing. Whatever the season we have an activity. Rail rides and train rides, cross country skiing awaits you. Visit Margaretville, a quaint victorian village with many boutique shops and many dining options. The Inn is only a mile and a half up the mountain from the village. We also have our village suites in walking distance to main st, and is listed on this site as well. We are near many other wedding venues in Roxbury, Andes, Bovina, Fleischmanns.

The space
Studio 502 is a separate space, above a garage - built in 2016. It is very comfortable and private. We make every effort to be respectful of guests' privacy.

The open floor plan features a queen-size bed, plus a comfy daybed. The kitchen has a fridge, microwave, small convection oven, 2-burner convection cooktop, coffeemaker and toaster. Plates, utensils, condiments, etc., provided. For your coffee and tea needs, you'll also find some milk from a local dairy.

Sunny exposure and mountain views complete the picture. Built in the Craftsman style, the studio has a warm vibe and will offer instant relaxation.

If you don't feel like cooking, there are many area restaurants from which to choose. There's also a gas grill for prepping outdoor meals. It's stored away during the colders months, but we're happy to set it up if requested.

The studio has proven to be very comfortable for several long-term renters. We offer very attractive savings for you on stays 28 nights or longer.

Owners live on the same parcel (their house is about 100 feet away across the driveway) and can assist with any needs guests may have. If you are interested I recommendations for dining or shopping, we are pleased to offer ideas. The studio has a list of many dining options. Your privacy is of utmost importance to us.

Many of our guests come to the Catskills for outdoor recreation. Simply head out of the studio on foot and enjoy a pleasant walk in the woods or the stunning views afforded by a hike on the "Huckleberry Loop." Unlimited hiking opportunities throughout the Catskills - from easy to challenging — the choice is yours!

If you enjoy biking, cycling around the nearby Pepacton Reservoir is very pleasant - largely flat terrain and little vehicle traffic. Beautiful, too!

When it's time to get out and enjoy Catskill Mountain winter recreation, there's GREAT skiing at Belleayre Mountain - just 11 miles. Plattekill Mtn. in Roxbury is about 17 miles. Unlimited state and city-owned land to enjoyer hiking just minutes from the studio. If you're in the mood for an indoor workout, the Catskill Recreation Center in Arkville is a state-of-the-art swimming and workout facility with very reasonable day-use rates.

Our mountainside fire pit area offers plenty of privacy and lovely sunset views. The perfect space to end a day in the Catskills with a beer or a glass of wine.

Guest access
The studio is separate from the main house and guests have access to the entire upstairs space. Hang out in the sunny studio or get out and enjoy the surrounding nature - either choice has its own rewards. If you want to unwind, loft is a perfect spot to achieve your goal. Please note, we take great pride in having a super clean rental - and since the onset of the coronavirus outbreak, we go to even greater lengths to make sure all surfaces are disinfected to ensure the safety of our guests. Our only request is that guests not wear outdoor shoes into the studio - socks or slippers preferred indoors to help keep things clean.

Other things to note
We're a bit off the beaten path, but that's part of the charm. This is a truly special spot and guests find the location enchanting and inspirational. There is no cell service, but you can utilize wifi calling. The studio also has a landline with free long distance calling - even though guests seem perfectly happy to just be away from it all. For winter visits, 4WD is absolutely recommended as our property is located up a half-mile up a winding, private road. It is plowed and sanded, as needed. With AWD, you'll be fine...we drive it every day!

Our Queen Anne Victorian is located atop Margaretville Mountain overlooking the majestic Catskill Mtns. Once owned by the Dutch family VanBenschoten was built circa 1886. The house has been honored by being listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
As you step upon the 80 ft wrap around porch your eye catches the breathtaking mountain views. You are greated by your hosts Carol and Peter who will be respondsible for your comfortable and relaxing stay. Breakfast can also be served on the verandah as well as our period Victorian dining room, complete with English bone china.
Our period decorated rooms recreate the past yet have modern amenities for your convenience. Enjoy a peaceful nights sleep in our overstuffed down comforters and pillows. Oh, and don't forget the oversized plush towels! One can also relax in our spa area located in the milk house of our historic Sears Roebuck barn dating back to circa 1910.
In the morning rise to the aroma of fresh brewing coffee, and the smell of muffins baking in the oven. Be geeted by other friendly guests as you enjoy the mountain views from your dining seat. Breakfast orders are taken from a choice of Carol's secret french toast or country eggs any style, yum. Or if you prefer Belgian waffles, blueberry pancakes, or homemade crepes with local pure maple syrup. For our guests with special dietary needs we will prepare gluten free and dairy and nut free breakfasts.
After breakfast enjoy the many activities our area has to offer such as: sking, hiking , kayaking, golf and swimming, just to mention a few. Your hosts will gladly help you schedule any activities for your enjoyment or just simply do nothing.

The space
Our 1886 Queen Anne Victorian sits high upon Margaretville mountain overlooking the Catskill Mtns. Also, Belleayre Ski center is just minutes away as well as Ski Plattekill. We have discount lift tickets for purchase to Belleayre and discount programs with ski Plattekill. Hunter and Windham Mtns. are 45 minutes away. Your hosts Carol and Peter are here to help you with any requests and to make sure you have a great experience. Included in the rooms :private bath, TV, wireless internet, extra large soft fluffy robes, there is a gas fireplace in the Victorian parlor, free use of hot tub located in the milk house of our 1915 barn, or take a toboggan ride down our awesome sledding hill.
