Located at 9,600 feet in the heart of Brian Head, Lazy Bear Cottage is in a perfect location spring, summer, fall or winter! Why rent a condo with potentially noisy neighbors when you can have a cottage to yourself!
It is located between the two main lift areas (a half mile from both lifts) and on the ski shuttle route. It is a quick 10 minute walk to the ski lifts, restaurants and the General Store. During the winter, there are miles of cross-country and snowmobile trails throughout the area. There are also snow tubing and sledding hills for kids of all ages!
When the snow has melted, the Brian Head area offers some of the best hiking, mountain biking and trails in Utah. With nearby lakes, bring your rod and reel to enjoy a day of fishing or to dip your toes! There are also many ATV trails throughout the area that connect to different towns, including Duck Creek.
Decorated in rustic antiques, this cozy two story 800 sq foot cottage is a perfect place to "snuggle" and create memories! - "Everything was great except two issues. They are building cabins above the cottage which is on the main road so there is heavy truck traffic every week day from 8:00 until 7:00. The weekend was delightful. Won’t be a problem in the winter we suspect. The couch needs new cushions. If you do plan to stay in the summer during the week, just make plans to be away for most of the day." - "We enjoyed our stay in a comfortable cabin reminiscent of simpler days. All the modern necessities were provided but in a 50’s way that was quaint. We loved the two porches and would stay there again."

- "We stayed here with our immediate and extended family and it was a great house for us. The kitchen could use some updating (more pans, storage containers, ziplock bags) and it was a bit small for the 8 of us to maneuver around but the rest of the house was spacious. The views were lovely from the balcony (though we wished there were more chairs and a table for us to use on it). Overall great house especially if you have older kids since there are a ton of games for then to do in the garage."

- "Great kitchen. Lots of fry & sauce pans, plates, bowls, glasses & mugs, spices & condiments. A little sugar would be nice. Some cake pans need replacement. W/D Great. Previously bathrooms have been well stocked with bath soap & shampoo so we didn’t provide our own-this time there were none. No one sleeps in the loft because it’s too light so that’s a down side on number of usable sleeping space. Great Escape from the summer heat! Mtn biking is a big draw for us. Younger kids love fishing at the pond. Cedar Breaks is lovely We were there for the 4th-Fireworks were awesome. Super moon was great! We’ll probably stay again."

Winter:
We recommend that you take advantage of the wonderful ski and snowboard instruction available at Brian Head especially the kids camp at the Navajo Resort. It is inexpensive and fun. The resort offers both group and private snowboard or skiing instructions. They have lift ticket and lesson packages. Go to Brian Head.com to make reservations ahead of time especially during the holidays. Please be aware there are 2 ski resorts connected by a bridge. Giant steps resort has the more advanced skiing. There are also 2 inner tube parks.
Unless you are purchasing a package, we prefer Georg's for equipment rental. They have it all including skis, snowboards, snowshoes, cross country equipment and winter clothing. Ask for the Harpster discount.
Spring/Summer/Fall:
The resort offers biking, hiking, 4 wheeling and fishing tours. On summer weekends in town there are several activities for the kids including alpine slide, zip line, climbing wall and bungee trampoline to name a few. A short distance away is Cedar Breaks, Navajo Lake, Panguitch Lake and Bryce Canyon. We also enjoy the Shakespeare Festival in Cedar City in the Summer and Fall. They offer a variety of professional plays and even have baby sitting available. Go to Bard.org for information. Cedar City Aquatic Park is worth the drive. It has multiple pools inside and out including a lazy river, giant slide, play equipment and much more.
We recommend that you drink LOTS of water on the way up. Sports drinks offering electrolytes are even better. The elevation of our home is 9,800 ft. The base at Giant Steps is 10,000 ft.
Food services are limited at Brian Head. Cedar City has a Smiths, Walmart and Lins for groceries. Parowan has a smaller store called Food Town. Please note it closes at 9:00 pm. There are also two small markets in Brian Head. They are a little pricey but great for forgotten items.
Most importantly…. Relax, enjoy, have fun and make yourself at home.........
- "This was my first time to Brianhead. What a beautiful area! The property was perfect for our gathering. We had ten adullts and nine children ranging from five to twelve. Everything made for a wonderful trip. Plenty of areas to spread out but large areas where we could all play games and have a great time together. Very homey, not luxurious, just comfortable. We’ll certainly consider a return trip!" - "We had a great time with family and friends. The cabin was clean and well stocked. The setting is beautiful. It was exactly what we were hoping for. We are already making plans to return for the ski season."

- "I was able to ride my bike over to the resort and had a blast going down the mountain. The mountain biking was amazing there. The condo was great and had everything we needed. A little walk up to it from the parking lot, but no big deal." - "When we first got to the condo it had a very strong curry smell that stayed the entire weekend. The walk from the car to condo was not to bad because it was at some what of a uphill however, when walking back to the car it was down hill so a few people in our group had slipped to their butts because of the snow. The location was perfect. Really close to the slopes you could walk. Loved the mud room to store all of our snowboarding gear. The beds were very comfortable. Overall very happy with the stay and I would definitely re-book."

- "This was a great little stay. We had six people in it. If you're just sleeping there six people works great. It might be a little tight if you want to hang out and play board games and that sort of thing. For four to 5 people it's fantastic for everything. One thing that you probably don't consider in Brian Head is internet speed and this place has it. Most the places we stay at have very slow internet speeds which makes it kind of tough if you want to watch a movie or something. This place has fantastic internet."

- "First of all, I would give the place a 5 star if the hot tub was working and we didn't have to haul away our garbage. We selected this space because it had a hot tub, which is really important in the winter after you've been skiing/snowboarding all day. When we arrived the hot tub was half empty with water and would not heat. It also had several feet of snow on the cover so it obviously hadn't been inspected in a while. I notified the company on Thursday after we arrived that there was an error message and it was not heating. I didn't get a response so i called and they said they were contacting the on-site maintenance team. They never showed up. So I text them and called again on Friday, I got the same response. They were on it and would keep me posted. They never kept me posted. I called again on Saturday and said the same thing, begging for just one night of a hot tub as promised, same response and nobody ever came to take care of it. I text them and emailed them asking if we could get some sort of a refund since the amenities were not as promised, and have heard nothing. I would've stayed somewhere else less expensive had I known it would not have a hot tub. Then I received an automated text message asking for a review, and if there was anything else they could do to make the stay enjoyable. Well, here's your review."

Pets are also welcome at the Treehouse! Finding a dog sitter can be a lot of work, so bring them with you. (A fee of $150 will be added per pet).
This property stands alone when it comes to beauty and convenience. Most condos in the area are in lodges, which basically feel like old hotel buildings. The Treehouse is located a couple of staircases up in the mountains, surrounded by very established pine trees. It has its own front and back deck, and feels more like a cabin than a condo or hotel. This is the best location in Brian Head, because it's a very short walk to Giant Steps, and the general store, yet still in the mountains. The extra steps up the mountain to the Treehouse are worth it, no doubt about it!

The space
The cabin is located on a cliff in between two roads (Pinehurst Drive and Eagles Roost Street) that are plowed during the winter. In the winter months (November - April). You'll want to park below the cabin in the provided parking space, which is located on 332 Pinehurst Drive. It's very important to know that there is a steep walking trail that zig zags up the mountain with a handrail, which takes anywhere between 3-10 minutes to walk up. We do our best to keep the trail manageable to walk up and down, but please be careful, hold onto the rail and walk up/down at your own risk. We have a team who plows and shovels the driveway and pathway up to the house and down the steps, but of course, the snow is unpredictable and can layer down very quickly to create a snowy trail that you might find yourself walking up and down. Guests may also drop off their family on the street above, in which you would walk down the stairs which lead you to the front door of the cabin (a shorter walk), but in the winter months, you must drive back down to the parking space on Pinehurst Street to park below.
In the summer months (May - October) you can absolutely park on the street above (Eagles Roost Street) and walk down the stairs to the cabin, a much shorter walk.
Please note: our cabin is nestled on a beautiful mountain, surrounded by hundreds of trees, offering a truly immersive nature experience. Despite our amazing cleaners who meticulously maintain the cabin, you might occasionally encounter a dead bug or insect. While we strive to provide a luxurious experience, it's important to remember that this is the only cabin on the mountain, uniquely situated between two roads on the middle of a stunning hillside. This setting may not be ideal for those who prefer a more controlled nature environment. Thank you for your understanding.
We do require a waiver to be signed before booking.
