The Goddard Place is located 5 miles East of Anna off of Route 146. We only have one cabin. It is close to Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, the Southern Illinois Wine Trail and the Shawnee National Forest. Your cabin features a living area with a sleeper sofa (for the young ones in the family), a recliner, a 32' flat screen television with DirecTV and a DVD player. The kitchenette includes a small refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot, dishes, glassware and silverware. The queen sleigh bed, jacuzzi tub and lavatory complete the room. There is a shower and plenty of towels are provided. All you need to bring is your provisions!!

Conveniently located on the western edge of the Shawnee Wine Trail, our cabin is close to the many activities, wineries, breweries or restaurants the region has to offer. Enjoy the orchard blooms in the spring and in summer and fall, the bountiful harvest is available at the orchard stores. Our cabin offers the perfect accommodations for a family reunion, pre-wedding event, wedding weekend or a quite, relaxing getaway with friends.

Beautiful artisan crafted wood features and furniture made from reclaimed wood throughout make the cabin unique. The comfort of our guests is foremost in our minds. The cabin is multi level with two large covered decks overlooking Cave Creek so you can enjoy relaxing outdoors even on a rainy day. A spacious 1500 sq ft, the cabin can sleep up to 8 guests, has a full kitchen stocked with cookware and dinnerware. The kitchen, dining area for 8, and living area with gas fireplace, recliner and HD-TV are located on the entry level. A bedroom, with very comfortable queen bed, a full bath and a sleeper sofa are located on each level.

Each cabin offers two bedrooms, all with very comfortable queen mattresses, two sleeper sofas and two full baths. The upper level of the cabins feature a great room with trestle style dining table that seats 8 comfortably. The ample living area has a gas fireplace, recliner, sofa and HD-TV. Our full kitchen, with full size appliances, has beautiful wood countertops and seating for 4 at the island. Large supply of cookware, dinnerware for 8, coffeemaker and toaster provided. One bedroom and a full bath are also located on this level. The upper deck features a great overlook of Cave Creek for you to enjoy from the drink rail while you rest on our comfortable seating.

The lower level has a relaxed seating area with sleeper sofa, TV and DVD player. A game table and board games are provided. Second bedroom and full bath are located on this level, plus the utility room. We also offer satellite TV with separate controllers for each TV. This cabin is perfect for two couples or a family getaway. The deck on this level also offers a good view of the creek for your enjoyment.

Luxurious bed linens and bath towels provided. Soaps, shampoos, paper products and some cleaning supplies are also provided. We also provide an outdoor charcoal grill. And we have a fire pit available for our guest's enjoyment.

We have a dusk to dawn security light illuminating the parking area and cabin entries. Enjoy the fire pit and grilling are on the creek side of the cabin. Take a stroll on the quite country lane, relax around a crackling fire or take a comfortable seat on the covered deck and enjoy the relaxing sounds of the trickling creek.

Less than a mile north of Alto Pass, Mark's Lane is between Alto Vineyards and Rendleman's Orchard Store. It's a very short drive to Bald Knob Cross, Cedar Lake, Little Grand Canyon, Pomona Natural Bridge or Trail of Tears state park. The hiking is great. Try the lesser used trail skirting beautiful Cedar Lake, one of the best fishing lakes in the region.

Alto Pass was in the prime viewing area for the 2017 Eclipse and will be again in April 2024. The Shawnee will again have the longest viewing time for the full eclipse. We have so much to offer visitors in the Shawnee Region. Nature lovers have an abundance of trails to choose from, several of them geared for the occasional hiker or children. There are excellent rock climbing locations for the more adventurous visitors. We have one of the best zip lines in the United States. Our region offers great biking trails. There are lavender farms, strawberry and blueberry patches, and a bison ranch. They start picking peaches in June. Apples and other farm fresh produce are available at the farm stores. Don't miss the orchards in springtime bloom. Watch for festivals and music every weekend at the wineries. Don't miss the food and wine pairing weekends. Yum! And before we know it, the beautiful fall colors will be here. There is something for everyone to enjoy in Southern Illinois. Have a busy day and then come back to a relaxing retreat at Cave Creek!

- "Fantastic place, great views, easy check in/out process" - "We had a great stay at the White Oak Cabin! The amenities were all up to date and the cabin was gorgeous! Our host Allison was quick to answer all of our questions. We are a family of four and also brought along our two dogs. They had provided a dog dish, placemat, and towel. Although it isn't a huge cabin, we were all perfectly comfortable. Having two older kids, we brought along an air mattress which wasn't needed because the cabin had one stowed under a bed, which we weren't expecting. It was a nice surprise! We had also brought along a bag of charcoal for the grill, but a partial bag was already there along with some lighter fluid. We used that and paid it forward by leaving ours there for the next people to use. We enjoyed the hammock and spent a lot of time out on the deck. The property is gorgeous! The only complaint we would have is that it would be nice if there was a mowed walkway all around the pond, not just the path to walk down to it. Regardless of weather conditions, our cabin offers multiple outdoor living spaces including a fire pit, multiple decks, and a screened-in porch.

The space
Cabin
The two-story cabin features an open first-floor with kitchen, dining, and living area. The walkout basement has a 2nd living area with futon, bathroom, and two bedrooms.

The property is 3.5 acres, including a small yard, campfire pit, playground, pond (swimming not permitted), and grassland. Prior to becoming a guest cabin, the property was our home and small farm where we raised 2 young boys, vegetables, chickens, ducks, and pigs.

Adjacent Wilderness and Hutchins Creek

The secluded cabin is situated between La-Rue Pine Hills Ecological Area, Bald Knob and Clear Springs Wilderness Areas, and Trail of Tears State Forest. Together these public lands total more than 19,000 acres, creating the most wild, ecological diverse area in Illinois. This is our remaining wilderness, a place to relax and rejuvenate, and as Muir said, "a place to heal your body and soul."

Aside from the wilderness location, what makes our cabin so unique is its proximity to Hutchin's Creek on Shawnee National Forest land. Hutchin's Creek (eligible for designation as a Wild & Scenic River) is a gravel bottom, spring-fed creek that flows year round. The creek's crystal clear waters have the state's highest water quality ranking for biological diversity and integrity. Large gravel bars and deep swimming holes provide an opportunity for a "day at the beach" (swim shoes/sandals/old tennis shoes are a must for the gravel). Kids and grown-ups alike will love the shallow riffles and stones to throw; we call it, nature's splash pad. A hike up the creek, into the untouched wilderness, is an unforgettable experience any time of the year.

Other things to note
Wine Trail
The Shawnee Hills Wine Trail is an unique partnership including 11 local vineyards and wineries in southern Illinois. Hedman Vineyards, Alto Vineyards, and Von Jakob are the closest wineries, but a beautiful drive will take you to many more. With its American Viticultural Area (AVA) designation the Shawnee Hills region has earned its place as one of the nation's most respected wine regions. Several shuttle companies offer a carefree way to experience the wine trail, including pickup/dropff service right from the cabin.

If you enjoy craft beer, you may decide to venture off the wine trail to the region's expanding breweries, including Scratch Brewing, Big Muddy Brewery, Von Jakob Winery and Brewery, Little Egypt Brewery, and Abbey Ridge Brewery.

Cobden
Please don't leave without visiting our favorite town of Cobden. Art and antique stores, dining options, surrounding apple and peach orchards, ice cream, and two parks make this little town unique. The Iron Whisk offers expertly crafted breakfast and lunch (closed Mon-Wed). Across the park you’ll find for tacos and tamales at La Taqueria Pequina (Little House of Tacos). The Old Feed Store is a music venue with some of the best shows in bluegrass around. Flamm Orchards, just north of Cobden, has a farm stand with strawberries, peaches, and apples, offered seasonally.

Hunting
Deer and turkey hunting opportunities abound on the public lands right outside the cabin's door. (Hunting is NOT permitted on the property. Conservation and Forest Service officers are active in the area.) A short drive will bring you to Union County State Fish and Wildlife area with opportunities for waterfowl hunting and fishing. Oakwood Bottoms, La Rue Pine Hills Ecological Area, and the Cache River offer additional nearby waterfowl hunting opportunities. We are happy to share additional hunting tips and maps.

Turn of the century farmhouse located on a 60 acre private vineyard. Minutes from SIU campus and in the heart of the Shawnee Wine Trail. This recently updated 2 bedroom 1 bath in a country setting will allow you to relax with the sounds of nature.

The Scout Cabin was originally part of a group cabins from the early 1900s. Over the years, different owners have made additions and updates, but it still has some of its original structure. Now it is a cozy two bedroom house with an open living and dining area, a bonus area with an additional sleeper loveseat, and a spacious patio. It is centrally located - just one block from the center of Carterville’s downtown - and easily accessible to many Southern Illinois activities and attractions.

The space
The Scout Cabin was originally built in the early 1900s and has had multiple updates and uses over the years. We recently updated the property and added the fenced in patio area to accommodate guests wanting to visit Southern Illinois. The back patio does include outdoor seating and a fire pit. The cabin has two bedrooms and an open living and dining area with an extra sleeping area with a pull-out couch. The living room has an electric fire place, and there is a television in the living room and both bedrooms. The cabin also has an office area, a full kitchen, and a laundry room with a washer and dryer.

Guest access
The entire cabin is available during your rental, as well as, a rock driveway for parking and a back concrete patio in a fenced in area for relaxing.

Cozy cabin close to six lakes for fishing, extra parking for boats and campers as well as electrical plug ins for charging, thousands of acres of public hunting area, hiking trails, over a dozen wineries, and great dining and shopping. There are two wine tours, state parks and the Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge close by. Giant City Park with the Giant city Lodge are close as well. No smoking and no pets. This cabin is 960 square feet with two full bathrooms, two bedrooms with queen beds, a laundry area, dining room, and full kitchen with a toaster, microwave, stove, and coffee maker. There is a first aid kit, ironing board, and fire extinguisher on site. There's a couch and love seat in living room and a recliner. There is a covered front porch and covered back porch.

The whole house and yard is accesssible for guests. We are in the process of building a second cabin just south of the first.

Take in the peace and beauty of Southern Illinois at this lakefront cabin, scenically situated within Blue Line Resort. This is a place to slow down, share the road with the occasional horse-drawn carriage, and explore the surrounding countryside. Taste your way along the Shawnee Wine Trail (three miles), visit loved ones at Southern Illinois University (five miles), or hike Little Grand Canyon (seven miles) or one of the many other trails close by.

Blue Line Resort is a lovely cabin community located about four miles south of downtown Murphysboro. The grounds are a delight to return to each afternoon, offering a small pond, a dock with built-in benches where you can drop a fishing line, a gazebo with a swing, and a firepit where you can gather for stories and stargazing each evening. Communal laundry facilities are available as well.

This cabin sits at the edge of the pond - a view to take in as you sip your coffee on the covered porch each morning. Another deck, a gas grill, and a picnic table await out back, offering a wonderful setting for afternoon barbecues.

The living space is full of familiar comforts, from the natural wood furnishings to the textiles inspired by the great outdoors. Prepare meals using the well-equipped kitchenette (complete with a fridge/freezer, a microwave, an air fryer, and double hot plates) and sit down to enjoy them at the windowside dining table. Come stay at Black Bear Cabin located just 10 miles from Rend Lake and just minutes from Benton County Club. We have covered parking for your boats and cars. With plenty of room for the family and lot of room for parking. We have Lots of things to do at the cabin. Relax with the whole family at this peaceful place to stay. We allow a dog for a fee of$40 per stay. If a pet is brought on the property without paying the fee an additional $100 will be added to your stay.

Black Bear Cabin is a very cute Cabin decorated in lots of bears. The kitchen has everything you would need to make a meal. There is a large bathroom with a shower. The two bedrooms are very spacious. There are three tvs in the cabin.

Guest access
The entire cabin is yours to enjoy. I have one closet that is locked in the cabin and one closet locked in the pole barn.

Other things to note
Black Bear Cabin has a covered boat parking area and electric hook up to charge your boat batteries. We also have a gaming room in the pole barn. We have nice seating on the front porch and the back porch to watch the wildlife. We allow dogs for a small fee. We allow a dog for a fee of$40 per stay. If a pet is brought on the property without paying the fee an additional $100 will be added to your stay. You will be responsible for all damage by pets.


The guest that books our property must be present durning the entire stay. The guest is responsible for any damage that happens to the property. There are no drugs allowed at the property.
