As the seasons shift, so to do the everchanging colours of autumn. Enjoy a hike along our numerous trails, take some photos then relax in front of the cozy woodstove. Our property is a great place to decompress whether you relax with a book, or hike our beautiful trails. Experience the peace that comes with 120 acres of boreal forest and enjoy several kilometers of hiking trails and plenty of privacy. Pack your gear, bring your dog and exhale!

We are less than an hour's drive north of Winnipeg along highways 7, 8 or 9 with pavement access to our gated property driveway.

The cabin is equipped with a lofted double bed accessed by a ladder. We provide kitchenware (cutlery, dishes, pots, pans, French press, BBQ utensils, etc..), potable bottled water, a propane indoor regulated stove top, as well as an outdoor gas barbeque.

We provide firewood for outdoor bonfires as well as cut/split wood for the indoor woodstove. (Unless Burn Ban in effect)

Bring your pillows, bedding, towels, food and beverages. Being off-grid with a minimal solar power system, there is no refrigerator; please bring a cooler.

There is a small solar system to light the cabin, power small appliances, and charge your devices and a Cubic Mini Woodstove to combat the cold. The micro-cabin has an eco-friendly filtered rain-water collection system with gravity flow shower and wash basin. The water is as warm as the sun can heat the black barrel! The site features solar lighting, picnic table and fire-pit w/grill. A new outhouse is close by and there are outdoor games in the common area.

We have a second cabin "Blue Owl Tiny House" in event Micro Cabin is already booked, or get together with friends and book them both!

"Get your steps in" while exploring our 120 acres of land with numerous kilometers trail. Great for hiking/biking, birdwatching, or catching a glimpse of wildlife. Saskatoon berries are plentiful this year, bring a container! There are places to sit and enjoy the quiet along the way. We have a small pond with floating dock which is a lovely place to relax. During the winter months we do our best to keep the majority of our trails packed and groomed making for terrific dog walking, snowshoeing or fat tire biking. Though the cabins are technically closed during the cold months, but the trails are too good not to share with other outdoor enthusiasts.

While in season the Cranberries, Chokecherries and Saskatoon berries are in abundance. You'll see lots of wildflowers along the trail: Indian Paintbrush, Black-eyed Susans, Tiger Lillies, Lady Slippers and Marsh Marigolds just to name a few.

We're located close to the tourist town of Gimli but just slightly off the beaten path. We hope you consider our micro-cabin for a slightly different get-away and welcome your enquiries.

Welcome to Willow Island! This lakefront loft style cabin is a new build, boasting incredible views with a lagoon on one side, perfect for kayaking, paddle boarding or bird watching and Lake Winnipeg on the other side where you can walk the beach, swim, fish or have a lakeside fire.
The cabin is floor to ceiling windows facing the lake with tons of natural light and incredible views! It is for year round living and the lake is in your front yard giving easy access for ice fishing as well.
Two bedrooms (double/single bunk) (double bed) on the main floor along with a well-appointed bathroom with shower and tub for soaking. The kitchen has stainless steal appliances including dishwasher and island seating. The dining room brings stunning views of the lake with a farm table and seating for 6. Open concept allows for easy socializing, with a woodstove fireplace in the living room for cool nights.
Walk upstairs to find a reading nook, where you can curl up with a book and take in the amazing view from the second floor. A loft den, is perfect for watching TV, playing games (provided) or simply listening to some music curled up in a blanket on the comfy leather furniture.
The massive Master bedroom on the second floor has a balcony that overlooks the lagoon, perfect for watching the sunsets. A cute coffee bar, with a Keurig and bar fridge where you can grab a cold drink and take in the west sun on the balcony. A second full bathroom with tile shower is also found in the master bedroom.
Willow island is s secluded community that is on a causeway less than 10 minutes from the bustle of Gimli. Don’t feel like cooking? There are numerous great restaurants and coffee shops in the town of Gimli along with a Sobey’s, Co-op, Liquor Mart and Rona in case you forgot anything. Gimli boasts a fishing pier and marina and many local artisan shops in their business district.

We hope that you enjoy your stay and make memories to last a lifetime. Our Lake House offers a cozy family getaway steps away from Moonlight Beach in the South Beach area of Gimli. Suitable to sleep up to 6 with two Queen bedrooms and a futon in the living room. Inside you’ll find an open concept living space with plenty of room for the family. Our cabin is newly updated featuring a spacious kitchen with all the kitchen essentials.

The outdoor space features a charming fire pit area in the trees with Bistro lights. As well as a Barbecue and picnic table for outdoor dining. There is plenty of space in the yard for outdoor fun and games with the family. One parking space is included with limited street parking. The property also offers the use of a kayak for the adventurer in the family.

Stroll, ride or drive into town to enjoy the great shops and restaurants Gimli has to offer. Center Street is a 20 minute walk and a 5 minute drive from the cottage.

During the winter the Lake is accessible for the Ice Fishing enthusiasts. We are also close to snowmobile trails and the local hockey arena.
Equipped with Wifi, smart TV’s, Keurig coffee maker and other small appliances, kitchen essentials, high chair, pack n’ play, washer and dryer, Kayak, Barbecue, picnic table, fire pit area, and 1 parking space.

Please Note: Pets are typically welcome, please just send a quick request prior to booking. There is an additional $50 pet fee. All pet waste must be picked up and disposed of upon check out. Pets must be on leash at all times outdoors. Pets are not permitted on furniture or bedding/blankets. Please bring everything your pet may need.

Any checkout instructions that are not followed, will be charged an additional $200 fee

The cabin is cooled with ceiling fans and a portable floor fan.
