Spectacular rustic Lodge with 37 foot tall river rock chimney, towering through the center of the Great Room. The home is situated on the center of 5 acres of riverfront farmlands. The nearest city is Port Alberni. Fifteen minute drive for suppples The incredible kitchen is fully equipped for even a chef!

Each room features private entrance and overstuffed quilts. The lower floor features a full wrap-around balcony. The nesting eagles, resident deer, rabbits and will comfort you on the serenity of the back deck. Everyone describes their stay as more than expected and that the pictures do not do it justice. We look forward to exceeding your expectations.

- "We had an amazing stay with a large group of people ranging from babies to 40+. We are generally a really hard group to accommodate as we grow older and everyone keeps having more children. The lodge fit all of us comfortably! Every room having an ensuite was also a big plus . Our stay coincided with the heat dome and temps were 34-38C for our entire stay. Despite not being air conditioned, all rooms had a fan which helped a lot. We also spent a lot of time in the river, which is easily accessed for a dip to cool down or to throw a line out for some salmon or steelhead. The property is massive, and you can easily get some alone time. We also found the bedrooms to have pretty good soundproofing. Sitting on the back deck and staring out over the yard is like watching National Geographic. We saw dozens of rabbits, deer, squirrels, eagles, ravens and black bears. Autumn, the property manager was very responsive and pleasant to deal with. We had an issue with the oven and she was quick to contact Marilyn and we had everything up and running again in no time. She also gave us access to a backup wifi network for our group to connect to when the usual one was not working. The lodge is old, has a few quirks and a few things didn't work, but staying here felt like staying at a family cabin, but with a group of 20+ of your best friends. If you are a large group that maybe includes children and a dog or two, this place will accommodate you perfectly! We plan to come back."

We offer a 1bedroom cabin with a comfortable pullout couch. Come and enjoy the lake! We provide paddle boards and kayaks included in your stay as well as a boat slip at the dock. Nice outdoor patio area with bbq and Wifi.

" - "My friend and I stayed at this beautiful new cabin. The location is lovely, but I didn't know that it was not lakefront, but the third cabin up from the lake. Jennifer, the host, was extremely helpful, welcoming and personable. We loved her style and approach and hospitality. Very high quality materials were used to build this cabin recently and we appreciated that very much. It was early August when we stayed, so during the day it was super hot (in the 30s), but at night, it cooled off beautifully. There is a fan over the one queen size bed and a stand up fan for the pull out couch bed. Access to the lake was steep but we managed with hiking shoes and walking poles (I am 60 and my friend is 74). The lake is gorgeous and there is an option to use paddle boards and kayaks. It's definitely a lovely stay here but because we are heat intolerant postmenopausal ladies, we would look for an air conditioned cabin next time. "

The spacious and comfortabel studio is located at the beautiful Sproat lake on Vancouver Island.
The studio is built on top of a garage on a steep lakefront property. It offers space ideally for a couple or a family with 2 kids. In the bedroom you can find a Queenbed and a bunkbed. A pullout couch in the living room offers space for two more people to sleep.

In the wintertime you can enjoy a bondfire close to the lake and summertime is the time to savour the dock on the lake.
Our entire property is nonsmoking and there are no parties allowed.

- "House was brighter and more spacious than photos depict. It was exactly what we needed for a home base close to town for son’s hockey championship games in Port Alberni. Would love to stay here in summer to use the dock more and go swimming and kayaking. This unique place has a style all of its own. Right on the edge of the Marina at the Fish & Duck Resort the views are spectacular and you are only a stones throw away from the famous Fish & Duck Pub and it’s great beer and excellent pub food.

The space
The carefully laid out space is 10x10 and on-site at the fish and duck resort. It is located right on the water's edge with a nice lawn sitting area out front. The resort can get busy, but this space is off to the side and roped off so very few people wander into the area.

There is no bathroom or running water and a porta potty which is discretely placed off to the side of the unit in a fenced area is exclusively for this cabin.

Why stay here then?
It’s the perfect place to spend a night, or more if you want to get out on the water here at Spoat Lake. The resort has speedboats, pontoon boats, houseboats, and most water toys for rent including paddleboards and kayaks. The on-site pub makes for a perfect place to eat, drink and admire the Insta-worthy views and sunsets.

EVERYONE who visits is spellbound by how clean, clear, and warm the lake water is. With very few places to stay, around the lake, this unique experience is one for the memory books. Come, relax, enjoy, rejuvenate then carry on with your travels, but a quick warning nothing else will compare to Sproat Lake!

1 hr drive to Ucluelet/Tofino junction, with the recent completion of the new highway section near Kennedy Lake. 1hr 15 to Ucluelet and 1hr 30min to Tofino.

20min drive to China Creek for Windsurfing and Kitesurfing.

4 Adult guests maximum, consideration of a 5th adult guest on short term stays may be allowed with a $50/night fee. The home is not safe for toddlers due to stairs, glass railings and steep sidewalk areas to the beach.

No parties & quiet time by 10 pm. No entertaining friends or other families (septic)

Quiet location on the lake, this home is 1 of 2 vacation rentals on the street so it is not suitable for parties, loud guests or load boats or jet skiis.

The wharf and neighbourhood waterfront is a no wake, no jetski & drone zone.

Guests are welcome to bring big wake boats and jetskis they just need to idle out to the open areas of the lake.

Young adults of young ages are welcome. Please consider if your child is a responsible young adult, no jumping or running around in the house.

No snacks or candy outside the kitchen & eating area.

No playing fetch with pets or children inside the house.

I live in the basement suite and work full time Thursdays to Sundays. I give guests as much privacy as possible and don't occupy the wharf if guests are enjoying it. I occasionally walk down to the beach area for a swim. I have a dog but it is not free in the yard.
