- "The bed sheets were not clean. Covered in both human and dog hair. Room was freezing. Looks to be an old converted shed sitting in a concrete pad. It was 5 degrees outside and we had a constant draft through the doors, windows, and cold air emitting straight from the floor. The home is old, which is no issue. There is a difference however between old and old/dirty/unkept. The floor was covered in dead bugs, spiderwebs, and dust. There was someone’s old food in n the mini fridge. Also, we are HUGE dog people and actually excited to see the pup that lives there. But he was a menace trying to get into the cottage and jumping on us. He got our nice shoes muddy on our way out. Sherie is nice, but that doesn’t make up for the lack of effort being put into the upkeep of the B&B. We slept in our clothes to stay both warm and off the sheets. Then got out of there as quickly as we could the following morning. Only nice thing about this place is it’s proximity to the Theatre. No photos, but I took a lot of videos. "

Our little cottage may be small, but has the amenities of home and a comfortable appeal! Fishing Creek Cottage overlooks Fishing Creek, a popular recreational area on Lake Cumberland & a major arm of the lake. Looking from the deck, Pulaski County Park and its beach and boat ramp can be seen across the lake. Boaters frequent the Fishing Creek area to ski & tube, but are distant enough that noise isn't an issue. Fishing Creek Cottage is located at the end of a quiet street in a residential neighborhood, and is the last house on the street so has relative privacy.

Please read all of the description and "Frequently Asked Questions" before booking so that you are absolutely sure our home works for you. Most of our past guests' questions have been addressed in the "FAQ's."

Guests may not check-in or check out on Easter, July 4th, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, or Christmas Day, so please consider that if making holiday reservations.

We have an incredible lakefront view that you can enjoy while grilling dinner on the gas grill, sitting by the fire pit, or watching all of the boating action on the lake just below. The view from our large deck includes the popular recreational area on Fishing Creek, a major arm of Lake Cumberland, and parts of Pulaski County State Park. Our entire cottage has been updated. The kitchen includes a full-size stove, refrigerator, microwave oven, and small-space dishwasher and is fully stocked with cook and dishware, including a toaster, coffee pot, and a Keurig. The great room and bedroom have hardwood floors. The bathroom, which has a shower only, has been completely remodeled. There is ample room for parking your boat in the driveway, as well as at least two cars. The cottage is one mile from Lee's Ford Marina and Harbor Restaurant and just five miles from Somerset. The master bedroom, loft, and great room all have televisions and DVD players and cable and the home has WiFi. There is a washer and dryer for your use.

The deck includes a table with seating for 4 as well as 4 Adirondack-style chairs for use around the fire pit or to just relax and enjoy the view. The master bedroom sleeps two and the loft sleeps two. There is also a toddler-sized cot and booster seat for the kitchen table if needed.

Please keep in mind our cottage is an A-frame with a somewhat steep flight of stairs to the loft. The house might be a challenge for taller folks, and the stairs will be a challenge for anyone with mobility issues.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there access to the lake from Fishing Creek Cottage?
No. Our home is on a cliff. The best access to the lake in terms of location to Fishing Creek Cottage is at Lee's Ford Marina or Pulaski County State Park.

Is there room for our boat in your driveway?
Yes. We keep our boat in the driveway during our stays. When you book with us, be sure to read the guest info about suggestions for parking your boat.

Is there a dock nearby?
Yes. Lee's Ford Marina is about a mile down the road. You can launch your boat for $8 or dock your boat there for about $30 per night. **On Labor Day weekend 2019 the marina charged $30 for parking and did not have open slips available for overnight storage.** They also have boats, wave runners, and paddle boards available for rental. Fishing Creek Recreational Area is three miles away and is $5 to launch. Pulaski County State Park is 3.9 miles away and they offer free public launching.

Is there swimming nearby?
Lake Cumberland is surrounded by many cliffs. Swimming usually occurs from boats. Nearby swimming is available at Pulaski County State Park where they have a small beach.

Do you have life jackets or other equipment available? We do not. You will need to provide your own equipment or contact Lee's Ford Marina about rental rates.

Is your home pet-friendly?
It is! However, there is a $100 fee per stay and we allow only 1 pet. Your pet must be under 50 pounds. You must agree to these rules: pet must be leashed when outside the home, pet must be crated when alone inside the home, pet will not be permitted on furniture or beds, Guest will provide a pet bed during stay, all waste must be cleaned up and disposed of properly by Guest, pet must be housebroken, pet must be on a flea/tick prevention during stay.

What do you provide during my stay? What do I need to bring?
We will be sure you have toilet paper, tissues, dish washing liquid and dishwasher soap. Towels and bed linens are provided. We try and keep extra supplies like bar soap, shampoo, and razors under the bathroom sink just in case you forget them. You may need to supply extra paper towels depending on your usage, laundry detergent if you plan to do laundry, and firewood for use with the outside fire pit. Firewood can be purchased at several local retailers.

Do you have suggestions for things to do or places to visit?
Yes! All of this info is located in a binder in our home, but is also found under "Guest resources" when you book with us. I also add suggestions that I receive from our guests so that our future guests can enjoy the Lake Cumberland area to its fullest!

Our farm is home to two family-owned businesses -- Alpine Hills Swiss Farm and Country Pumpkins Fall Festival. Alpine Hills Swiss Farm has been in operation since 1947. Milk was sold commercially for many years, but is currently a small herd-share operation selling milk directly to herd share members.

Country Pumpkins is our annual fall festival that begins September and extends through the end of October with pumpkins, hayrides, corn mazes, and all the good, clean family fun you can imagine! We are offering free passes to Pumpkin Ridge for the families staying with us during these dates.

The Bourbon Cottage is a fully restored 1905 Victorian one story cottage with many modern conveniences. Located in the heart of Historic Downtown Bardstown, 2 blocks from the court square you are within walking distance to shops, restaurants, historic attractions, museums, pubs and great nightlife!
The cottage is a great place to come in and relax from the Bourbon Trail. The Master Bedroom has a queen bed with luxurious linens and a pillow top mattress. The second bedroom has 2 twin beds with luxurious linens.
There are several rooms to relax with Flat Screen TV s , expanded cable T.V. and high speed internet.
A fully equipped kitchen has stainless steel appliances; refrigerator with water and ice on the door, electric stove, microwave, dishwasher, coffee pot. The kitchen is stocked with dishes, utensils and glassware, if you plan to cook, please bring any cooking equipment you will need.

The Scout & Scholar brewery is less than a block away and has a really lovely courtyard if the weather is nice. If you like hiking it’s just a short drive to Bernheim Forest. Margaret Sue is a very gracious and responsive host. There’s a large binder in the kitchen with plenty of info you might need. There is coffee and snacks waiting on the counter, and bottled waters in the fridge. We will gladly stay again!"

Have fun with the whole family at this stylish place. Joplin is located inside Villager Resort on Lake Cumberland that is a community of about 20 houses. While staying with us you have access to the pool and boat dock. You can take the steps down to the dock or bring quarters and use the tram to take you and your belongings down to the boat dock. The area is very relaxed! We have a tennis court on site as well as an arcade area.

The space
Joplin was decorated with Janis in mind. Color palate, accents, and decor was considered throughout. The cottage is small but cozy. The living area was opened up to provide a larger space to collectively come together. Both bedrooms have smart television in case someone in the group needs to break away and watch something on their own.

The entire cottage is yours as well as access to all common areas on the resort. Common areas include; pool, dock, picnic area, tennis court, and recreational game room. The pool is open by Memorial Day weekend and usually stays open until the end of September.

Relax and rejuvenate in our cozy cottage nestled in a private area yet still close to stores, restaurants and many tourist attractions including 1.5 miles to the Bluegrass Outlet Mall. Only one mile from small town businesses including Little Mount Lavender, Brick and Mortar Coffee, Weathered Oak, The Lovely Fig, Dos Mundos and El Nopal. 25 miles to Buffalo Trace and downtown Louisville attractions. Centrally located to Louisville & Lexington.

The space
1-acre lot nestled in a small town. We have a country feel with all the close-by amenities and activities you will love. From May - Oct, Simpsonville hosts a farmer's market every Saturday morning which is a local favorite along with our other small businesses.

The Cottage is within 2 miles of Starbucks, Cinnabon, Outlet Mall shopping, a cigar bar, boutique shopping and more! Like Golf? We are close to University of Louisville’s golf course and just 8 minutes from Valhalla. 6 miles to the Shelby County fairgrounds.

Need to park a horse trailer, camper or other equipment? Contact us about it, we have additional acreage that might work for your parking needs.

The cottage is within a mile of interstate 64, railroad tracks and an industrial park. Note: you might hear road noise, train horns, or truck air brakes from time to time. We have noise machines if needed.

Guest access
Guests have access to the entire cottage except for one owner's closet. The yard is available to use between the cottage and the metal barn. We frequent the property for maintenance and our workshop. The land between the evergreen trees and the neighbor's house contains the leach field for the septic system. Please do not use this area for parking or other uses.

Edgewater Resort, 20 minutes from Louisville, is Taylorsville Lake's premier vacation spot, tucked away in a gated community with over 163 acres that overlooks the marina. Within walking distance you'll find a community pool (seasonal) with a sand volleyball court and a fire pit. This two-story cottage sleeps up to 10 guests and showcases a master suite with two private balconies and a jetted soaking tub. You can also hang out on the private deck out back equipped with a 4-person hot tub.

The space
This cottage is under new ownership and has had recent updates in May 2020 featuring granite countertops and a beautiful tiled backsplash in the kitchen. All flooring in the bedrooms have been updated from carpet to luxury vinyl plank. Entire cottage has been freshly painted. The hot tub outside has a brand new cover as well as the new sofa bed in the living room.

The fireplace is for looks and is not operable. We do not list this as an amenity due to this.

Please note: This resort is NOT a party-town atmosphere. Quiet hours are from 10pm until 8am. We ask that guests respect this rule and also the other guests staying in the cottages around ours.

We welcome well-behaved children.

**We welcome our furry friends but do require an additional $100 pet fee. Even if your precious pet won't make any mess, this fee goes towards a fund to pay for the wear and tear caused by pets that we wouldn't accrue if we didn't allow pets. We suggest bringing your pet a blanket or their own little bed to stay/sleep in. As you can imagine, our cleaners can spend a lot of time trying to get pet hair out of the covers and furniture between stays. Guests must alert host at the time of booking if a pet(s) will be with you or your guests.**

Please follow the hot tub rules posted outside on the fence. This will help ensure that all guests have a nice hot tub to use without any unexpected incidents.

There's a nice grilling area with a charcoal grill located off the back deck and a park like setting where you can take your chairs and hang out. We just ask you to return the chairs to the deck when finished. There's a twin bed and a trundle bed located in the bedroom to the right as well as a twin air mattress. A Pack 'N Play with a freshly washed sheet can be found in the kids' bedroom closet as well as a twin air mattress. Two twin roll-a-way beds are stored in the closet upstairs to be used anywhere you wish. An assortment of board games are available for your non-screen entertainment and located in the kids' bedroom closet.

NO BOATS/TRAILERS PAST FRONT GATE – Boat parking is located at the front, before you enter the gated portion of the community. Boats are not permitted inside the community and parking the boats/trailers are not allowed at individual cottages.

NO VEHICLES PARKED ON STREET OR GRASS – If vehicles do not fit in driveway, please park in one of the two lots, located in the front and back of the community. Parking is not permitted in yards, on the street or in common areas.

GARBAGE IN DUMPSTER ONLY – Self-explanatory, but please make sure trash fits inside the dumpster located at the front of the community. Garbage left outside the dumpster is not picked up by the trash company, causing it to sit and create a mess. Also, trash is susceptible to local animals tearing it apart and creating an even greater mess. Please don’t take up room with large items or place items next to the dumpster.

NO FIREWORKS – For safety and consideration of other guests, fireworks are prohibited inside the community. We have guests of all types, some traveling with small children and animals. For the enjoyment of all Edgewater guests, please refrain from setting off fireworks inside the community.

Guest access
The whole cottage is available for you to enjoy! If you need storage for your kayaks or canoes, there is space under the cottage.

Other things to note
NO BOATS/TRAILERS PAST FRONT GATE – Boat parking is located at the front, before you enter the gated portion of the community. Boats are not permitted inside the community and parking the boats/trailers are not allowed at individual cottages.

NO VEHICLES PARKED ON STREET OR GRASS – If vehicles do not fit in driveway, please park in one of the two lots, located in the front and back of the community. Parking is not permitted in yards, on the street or in common areas.

GARBAGE IN DUMPSTER ONLY – Self-explanatory, but please make sure trash fits inside the dumpster located at the front of the community. Garbage left outside the dumpster is not picked up by the trash company, causing it to sit and create a mess. Also, trash is susceptible to local animals tearing it apart and creating an even greater mess. Please don’t take up room with large items or place items next to the dumpster.
