Near UAMS and Wadley Hospital. Plenty of restaurants and entertainment within blocks. It’s a cute, historic space with a bedroom upstairs and kitchen, den, and bathroom downstairs. Smart TV and fast WiFi. Maximum of two guests.

The space
Private entrance to cottage. Guests and travel nurses will have access to private apartment, but shared access to washer and dryer. Fully furnished for the perfect stay. Kitchen includes oven/stove, full size refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, and coffee pot.

The Cottage at Acorn is located in the Heart of the Ouachita Mountains. The Cottage is a double cylinder block mother-in-law suite attached to our house, with concrete floors, pine ceilings and vintage decorations. Walking distance from a playground, walking track, and Veterans Memorial Park. There are 2 entrances to The Cottage. Please use the Veterans Memorial Park Entrance. Covered parking and a outdoor covered patio makes a good sitting area. And only 4 miles from Mena!

The Cottage is open concept. Queen bed, twin bed and love seat that pulls out into a twin bed. I've been told that my pictures don't do "The Cottage at Acorn" justice. That it is a lovely Cottage.

Welcome to Hidden Elk Escape, where you can have a relaxing weekend getaway or a fun-filled family vacation! Less than 10 miles from Buffalo National River, Ozark National Forest, Boxley Valley Elk Herd, Whitaker Point, Lost Valley, and other popular hiking trails. It's the perfect base for exploring all the area has to offer, including hiking, canoeing/kayaking, elk-watching, rock climbing, and more. After a day of adventures, come home and relax by the fire while enjoying mountaintop serenity!

The space
The rental is a 950-sq. ft. manufactured home that was built in 2018. It is fully-furnished with two bedrooms and two full bathrooms. There is a fully-equipped kitchen with a refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave, toaster, blender, coffee maker, pots and pans, and utensils. The home has WiFi and a smart TV for streaming movies and TV shows, in addition to board games and reading materials. There is also a charcoal grill, fire pit, picnic table, and outdoor chairs available for guests to enjoy. The home is decorated with artwork and photography by local artists.

Our home is located on Hwy 21 and it's easily accessible via car or motorcycle. Parking is available in the gravel driveway next to the home.

There is a ramp that provides access to the home for those who have difficulty with steps.

Other things to note
Please be aware that there is another home on the property, with a large outdoor space in between the two homes. Please be respectful of other guests who may be present on the property.

Dogs are allowed, with a $25 per stay fee and a maximum of two dogs (no cats). Dogs must be potty-trained and well-behaved, and they are not to be left unsupervised in the home or on the property unless they are secured in an owner-provided crate. Dogs must be leashed while outdoors, for their safety and for the safety of other guests and pets who may be on the property. You will be charged an additional fee for any damages or extra cleaning required because of your dog.

There is an exterior security camera on the property located on the front porch. The exterior camera records video and audio 24/7 for security purposes, but is not actively monitored. Tampering with, covering, or attempting to disable the camera will result in a $500 fine. For the privacy of our guests, there are no interior cameras.

We are located in a rural area, so there is potential to encounter wildlife, snakes, spiders, wasps, insects, or other critters. Children must be supervised at all times.

We are located on a state highway, so there is sometimes traffic noise.

It is important to note that there is limited cell phone signal in the area. The closest gas station is 10 miles away in Ponca. We advise that you bring your own food and alcoholic beverages, as the nearest grocery store and liquor store is over 45 minutes away.

This rustic cottage has a very large front yard with huge pine trees that provide cool shade. There is an outdoor barbecue grill in the fire pit area. We are just a few feet out of the city limits and have covered parking, and plenty of room for your boats or trailers on the circle drive.

This 1930’s “Giraffe” stone cottage was built by my great grandfather, and the 120 acre property has been passed from him to my grandmother and now to my mom. Recently freshened up with new pillows, towels and added cozy decor. Situated where Spider Branch Creek meets the Little Buffalo River, enjoy your peaceful getaway in the beautiful Ozark Mountains overlooking farm pastures. Close to all the action of Buffalo National River: hiking, canoeing climbing and all the adventurer that offers!

We welcome pets! We have a dog run they can be hooked up to out the back door for bathroom breaks if needed. Because they do cause a little extra work on clean up, we charge an additional $50 initial cleaning fee +$10 per additional pet so please let us know if you plan to bring your furry friends so we can make sure you are charged appropriately! While we believe guest who travel with pets have well behaved pets, if there is any damage accidentally incurred we expect that you will cover the cost of the repair. Also if we find that you’ve brought your pet and we aren’t notified to charge you (we hate to do this :() you will be charged $75.

The sun porch that has the twin bed and futon is not air conditioned. It has two doors into the main house and can steal some AC that way from the house, however it will be warmer in the hot summer months than the rest of the house. There are two box fans in the closet to help push cool air out there. It has a wood-burning stove for the colder months that keeps it very warm, just remember to bring wood.

Newton County is a dry county so you will need to remember to bring your own alcohol with you. The closest liquor store is Wow Liquor Store in Harrison about 30 mins away. You can also get wine and beer at grocery stores in Harrison.

Grill is a park style charcoal grill. You may use leftover charcoal and lighter fluid, but might bring your own just in case.

If you book an extended stay (14 days or more) our cleaning fee is $200. We will charge you the $125 difference separately via the resolution center.

The space
Guest have the opportunity to relax and enjoy time away from everyday life on a private 5 acres of property that was once an herb farm. You may find some herbs like lavender for a little aromatherapy or mint leaves for your tea. You can enjoy leisure walks on the property and sit by the fire pit in the evenings for stargazing. There are numerous hiking trails for all ages close by. If you need a little more excitement there is always Eureka Springs 45 minutes away or Branson, Mo. An hour away.

The house in the back, once called the garden house is also part of the property. Renovations were completed in April 2020 and is now a 2nd rental. The 5 acre property is shared between the guests.

Other things to note
The one bathroom is on the first floor and the 3 bedrooms are all on the 2nd floor. There is a loft over looking the dining area with a futon. There is a twin bed in the living room downstairs. The only way to the 2nd floor is a fairly steep spiral staircase with low head clearance.
