Access to Yellowstone Park from our north entrance was fully restored October 30, 2022 with a beautiful new road! Our sweet backyard cottage is nestled among the fruit and flower trees of the yard. It is easily within walking distance to the grocery store, coffee, shopping, restaurants, laundromat, post office, and local arch park events. It is at the north entrance to Yellowstone Park, as is all of Gardiner. The cottage is in the heart of town but shielded from the main street by the owners' home. The yard is shared with the owners but privacy is afforded by the layout. The owners' home was built in 1930 and its cottage was built in 1940 by former owners, the Eastons. It is believed that their intent was to rent the cottage to visitors of Yellowstone, making it a very early vacation rental in this town. The cottage is a perfect fit for two people who want to day trip to northern Yellowstone, book local activities like rafting, biking, horseback riding, and return to a simple, basic, clean environment to relax. Our guests note that the well cultivated green and floral landscaping add to the charm and character of their experience. The stucco cottage still has the details of its early history with the old style glass door knobs and kitchen cabinets. The Clancy Cottage is 800 SF with a modern/open floor plan and all the amenities needed for a comfortable experience. It is located in a relaxing setting with great views of Sheep Mountain and surrounding forest.

You can relax and enjoy a Montana evening on the outdoor patio which includes a grill, propane fire-pit and hot tub. The hot tub is not available for use from Nov.1-Apr.1 due to cold weather and maintenance required; however, we provide our guests with 2 adult passes to Boulder Hot Springs. Trout Creek, MT- In a remote valley in Northwest Montana stay in a cabin patterned after the houses described in the Hobbit. More than a bed to sleep in and a stove to cook on, the Shire offers visitors a luxury lodging experience full of imagination, magic and yes, a truly unique retreat away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Surrounding the home is a village that comes to life at night with the magical display of lights from the cavalcade of mushrooms that line Hobbit Lane to the lighted mural of a whole Elven Village. The excitement is heightened when these fairy structures begin to light up one after the other at dusk. If you are really lucky...and quiet, you may see the shadows of Fairy creatures or catch a glimpse of them at home as they like to gather in a special pine tree near the creek and chat the night away...

The owners have made it a point to share a special treat with each guest upon their arrival- a very large and distinctive Trollhouse cookie made with special fairy dust! They also made sure that the kitchen is well equipped including a barbeque grill located on the deck outside. The entire Shire overlooks their scenic Whitepine Ranch which boasts an old fashioned, red barn built in 1918 and a pond that brings in a myriad of waterfowl including Baldwin the resident Bald Eagle, blue herons and many diving osprey who dine on the Cutthroat trout living in the pond. Guests might also see deer, elk, and moose swimming in the pond, coyotes, and mountain lions along with the occasional bear or wolf.

The 1,000 square foot guest cottage comes complete with one king bedroom and a very small, guest bedroom. It has XM Radio, HD-Satellite flat screen TV with a Blu-Ray CD player with a library of books and CDs. There’s even a wood burning stove for those rare chilly nights; however the cottage stays a constant 55 degrees because it’s entirely underground. There is no shortage of wildlife...deer, hawks, owls, geese, and pheasants to name a few, along with some cows and a horse grazing in the pasture out back.

This studio cottage consists of a main room with a bed, a small dining table and kitchenette. The kitchenette features a large sink, microwave, Keurig coffee maker, one burner induction cooktop with a medium size pan, and basic dish ware and utensils.

From the main room, walk down a small step into the bathroom. The bathroom doubles as a changing room for guests who wish to use the sauna/walk-in-shower!

The sauna/shower is accessible from the bathroom and also from the back door.

To get here, you will take a left on Pope Lane and go about 1/4 of a mile. Our place is the one with all the willow trees. You will drive just past a small light grey house (my house) and pull into the parking lot. Directly in front of you, you’ll see the cottage which is a short walk through the yard! Go on in and make yourself at home.

Pets require a $20 pet fee.
We have a leash policy for dogs being outside due to livestock in the pastures. Thank you for understanding. We also ask that pets do not go on the bed, and please try to keep hair and mess to a minimum.

Located on Finley Point just outside Polson, MT, this delightful, waterfront, serene cottage offers the getaway of a lifetime. Room for the whole family, too, as you can sleep ten comfortably. - "We enjoyed the dock every night, water was a little chilly but just sitting in the very comfy outdoor furniture was all we needed. The house was perfect with a very comfy king size bed and great views of the lake. Outside upper deck was perfect for late night. This house also has a large bathtub overlooking the lake which was very relaxing. Kitchen has everything needed for a great stay. We did not use the extra upstairs loft but it is very nicely decorated and a great place for kids or another couple. We will definitely stay here again when returning to Flathead lake."

- "Thankful for a hot shower after hiking. Be aware you cannot drink the water. Be sure to bring jugs/bottles of water. Only 15 minutes from the Two Medicine entrance. There is a train close by that is loud, but we were exhausted after spending the day in GNP" - "The views were beautiful but as for the rest not so good. The address listed on VRBO was incorrect. When we finally found it the owner was on site thank goodness. She had texted the door code but I didn't get text until later. The biggest surprise was the water was non potable! We could shower but not drink the water. Coffee and coffee pot were proveded but no filters. It was muddy outside so we tracked mud in and I could not find a broom but did find a whisk broom and dust pan as we were leaving. The owner tried to make it a cozy place but it fell far short of the standard I have come to expect from VRBO listed property."

• FAMILY FRIENDLY - We provide a PACK-N-PLAY portable playpen if you are traveling with littles.

* PETS - We are very animal friendly, however, all pets MUST be announced and pre-approved. The house is sanitized of all pet hair & dander after a pet stays, therefore we charge a pet cleaning fee of $20 per night. We have a maximum of 2 trained pets per stay. Pets cannot be left unattended inside the house unless they are in a kennel. We ask that you do not allow your pets onto the furniture or bedding. This is a cozy, cozy cottage on Lake Mary Ronan. The area is beautiful and a great retreat from the ole hustle and bustle of life. For the outdoorsy, there are hiking trails and a gorgeous lake with endless activities nearby. For the indoorsy, this is the ideal place to relax and take in the mountains, forest, and lake all at once...from the comfort of a fluffy couch near the crackling fireplace (while eating yummy waffles covered in local Huckleberry syrup).

The space:

This is a 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom cottage with a completely unobstructed view of the mountains and forest in the back and a somewhat obstructed view of the lake from the front.

Each bedroom has a medium-firm memory foam mattress, silky soft microfiber sheets, and 2 soft and 2 medium-firm pillows.

There are two bathrooms. One is connected to the master bedroom and the other is accessed from the main hallway. Both have a shower/bath tub combo and all shampoo, conditioner, and soap is provided.

There is a large deck in the back that opens up to a picturesque mountain and forest view and includes a grill, fire pit, ping pong table, and outdoor seating.

The kitchen is fully stocked with all the pots, pans, and utensils one might need to make just about any meal. Additionally, the kitchen comes stocked with coffee, decaf, tea, hot chocolate, and apple cider.

Last but certainly not least, there is a waffle station equipped with a waffle maker, waffle batter, regular syrup, Huckleberry syrup, jam, and peanut butter ready to go.

Setting some expectations:

There is almost nothing around the area other than the scenery. There are two restaurants
/bars nearby, The Lodge at Lake Mary Ronan and Mountain Meadows. Both are great. The Lodge is “nicer” (more expensive) and open Wed-Sun, 4:30p-9p. Mountain Meadows is much more laid back and where all the locals hang out. It is open Wed-Fri, 4-slow and Sat/Sun, noon-slow. Other than that, the closest restaurants are ~25-30 minutes away (Lakeside). So, I’d bring groceries :)

You are not going to be wowed with the wifi here. Regular services don’t come out here, so I have the best satellite wi-fi money can buy. It still isn’t amazing. You shouldn’t have any issues surfing the web, sending emails and texts, and streaming shows (mostly), but I wouldn’t schedule any zoom calls while you’re here. I work from home and haven’t had any major issues here other than slower loading and with video calls.

My neighbor, Bob, has not turned his stereo off in 40 years (a guess). You can’t hear it at all in the house, but if you’re outside, you might hear some light tunes. Luckily, he normally plays pretty good music. He also has a bit of a junk yard situation going on. You don’t really see it from the front or back, but just a heads up for when you’re driving in. :)

This is rural Montana. There is a lot of wildlife out here. This includes bears and moose (and, for some reason, a shocking amount of turkeys). Carry bear spray if walking around in the woods and know how to respond if you run into something. I have not seen any animals (other than turkey/deer) too close to the house, so this advice is more for you decide to hike around. There are also bugs outside. If you leave the door open, sometimes they like to come inside. They are mostly friendly.

This cozy little cottage is an updated 1914 Craftsman style home that is just the right size for the single person, couples or small families (2 adults, 1 child ) while visiting this historical area. It is perfect for the business man/business woman that need a short stay or for an extended time. After a long day of driving, touring or business, you will want a comfy place to come home to.

The space
Hollyhock Cottage was originally purchased from a catalog. It features the classic Craftsman home columns and curio cabinet/bookcase so unique to the Craftsman design. This Craftsman includes the following:
The kitchen has all the essentials and has an adjoining original pantry/broom closet.
The washer and dryer are in a curtained space in the kitchen.
There is one bathroom with a shower only. It adjoins the bedroom #1 with a queen bed. This bedroom features a closet, 6 drawers and laundry hamper, a linen cabinet with a drawer to store extra pillows, blankets, towels/linens, and an antique sit-down vanity that the ladies are sure to like.
Bedroom #2 is a very small room with single bed with narrower width than a standard single bed. The bed size is a good fit for children, but may be too small for adults.

This is an 1891 historic home in Walkerville, just above uptown Butte. Beautiful views, quiet and safe neighborhood. Near walking trails and the Granite Mountain Memorial. A three minute drive to uptown Butte. Three glassed in porches, vintage appliances, updated bathroom. Microwave and toaster oven, fully stocked kitchen for cooking. A lovely light and airy home.

There are three glassed in porches, front and back yard access. Very quiet street.

The entire house is for your use. There is a walkout basement that houses storage and laundry, the lower area of the house is locked and not part of the rental.

Other things to note
The house was built in 1891 before there was indoor plumbing. The bathroom is updated, tile throughout with a full sized tub and shower. However, the bathroom is very small with tight spaces and may be difficult for those with mobility issues.

Walkerville is situated above uptown butte at 6300ft. We experience snow in the winter months and it can make for slick travel up Main St. Please know your vehicles limitations in winter weather.
