Guest Reviews:

- "Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Swifts. The property has been incredibly well thought through in meeting the needs of its guests and is well-furnished throughout. All rooms were of very good sizes, well equipped (including a generously proportioned TV) and in a spotless condition when we arrived. Although not a big area, the outdoor space is a securely enclosed space for barbecuing. The off-street parking was a real bonus, although we never had any problems parking on the road outside. The neighbourhood was quiet and safe, with a location within easy walking distance of the beautiful seafront and pier. The key safe also worked very well. The only observation we have (and it’s incredibly minor) is that a non-slip doormat would be a welcome addition. Would certainly stay in the Swifts again and have no hesitation in recommending to friends and family. "

Lighthouse View Cottage
Cottage
Southwold, England, United Kingdom

Lighthouse View in Southwold is a comfortable and welcoming holiday cottage sleeping four people in two bedrooms. This early-Victorian cottage is by St.James' Green in the very heart of this attractive coastal town. From the front door it is just yards to the promenade and sea.

Not only does Lighthouse View offer an excellent holiday location but Southwold's landmark lighthouse stands just over the wall of the cottage's rear courtyard. The fully-operational lighthouse is accessed from nearby Stradbroke Road and is open on certain dates for visitors to climb up to the top to enjoy the wonderful views. Children (and perhaps adults) will be captivated by the gentle rotation of the lights from the lighthouse in the evening.

Car parking is freely available in the immediate area. Indeed you may park your car on arrival and not use it again throughout your stay.

Owners Russ and Sue are happy to share their delightful cottage with holidaymakers who would love to experience this wonderful location in the charming town of Southwold. Children over 4 years are welcome as is one well-behaved dog.

For the young and the young at heart this super seaside cottage has so much to offer.

Guest Reviews:

- "Perfect location , spotlessly clean and great communication from owners " - "We had a day in Southwold a couple of years previous and wanted to come back for longer. This cottage was perfect! only a short walk from the beach and the town centre. We really couldnt ask for any more. Only negative (If any) is the fight for a parking spot. But worst case, there's always parking available on the front withour restrictions. So its a case of park there and wait for the opportunity to move your car closer later on. But all in all, one of the most relaxing holidays we've ever had. We will be back"

There is an attractive fireplace, with a large mirror. Leads to small, bright lobby area with small window/area for coats/understairs cupboard with hoover etc. Property has full electric central heating, eco friendly. Free WiFi, not guaranteed in event of breakdown.

FREE WiFi. Loom (no 6) and Weavers (no 5) are both lovely character cottages, pre dating 1840. There is a garage for Loom, and parking availability for Weavers, they are situated in a private road just off Southwold Common. They can be booked individually or as a pair (great for extended family breaks allowing privacy yet close proximity at the same time). Weavers and Loom Cottage are located in central Southwold, off the High Street and Southwold Common.Accessed from The High Street, past the Blythe Hotel (after crossing Mights Bridge), then turning right at John Bennett's Architect's shop straight into Spinners Lane. At the end of Spinners Lane, lies 'Rope Walk' where rope and fishing net twine was made in the mid 19th century. There are 2 semi detached white-washed cottages (can be booked as a pair or on their own) on the right as you enter the Lane, and Loom Cottage is the furthest cottage, Weavers is the cottage closest to you in the photos, both are compact and comfortable, with a real 'home to home' feel. There is an outside area to the front of each property, where it is perfect to sit and watch the world go by, there is a bench at the front of Loom, table and chairs at the front of Weavers. There are many homely additions indoors, including a really good book and an impressive dvd collection featuring up to date releases. We welcome dogs (will consider 2-please discuss), on the proviso they stay downstairs! The property is very old, but it has been sympathetically updated, with comfy furnishings. Spinners Lane has only 7 other properties, and the garage is just 15 metres down the Lane. There is a small back yard, with table and chairs, just outside Loom kitchen. No 5 (Weavers) has a smaller back yard and access across the rear of the Loom. In reality this is usually only applicable to take the bins round to the front. Both back yards are enclosed. The pubs, shops and beach are all within 10 mins walk away, fish & chip shop 2 mins walk! The cottages can be booked individually or as a pair, and throughout the year/short breaks/ weekends etc (although these would be mainly out of season). Weavers Cottage (nearest to you in the picture) is very similar (see pictures) and it's hard to choose between the two! The garage for Loom is clearly marked, and in the lane and there is parking in the lane (subject to availability) for Weavers occupants and additional Loom residents. We always manage to park in the lane! It is always possible to load and unload right outside the cottages, which is very convenient. There is additional free parking on the common, just 2 mins walk away! There is a comfy roll up double mattress we can supply on request for Weavers and Loom has a sofa bed in situ downstairs, so the cottage can sleep 5 (discuss first, 4 (adults) would be much easier) at a push. We can also provide a travel cot on request. Staircase in Loom is enclosed, with a handrail, not very steep at all (not like some cottage stairs we have seen which can be scary). Just 10 stairs in Loom, 9 in Weavers. We do welcome children and pooches, we can allow 2 (please discuss) but we must know the breed/s. We have a travel cot/high chair/safety gate which we can supply on request. We are very flexible out of season offering stays from 1 night minimum.

Guest Reviews:

I would definitely recommend." - "Lovely cottage, great location, very clean and helpful owners. Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful place x"

Guest Reviews:

- "We had a wonderful time but can honestly say that the cleanliness was not good. Cobwebs on lights, windows and the iron board which was beneath one of the beds was filthy. Thick dust and hair. This had to be cleaned before it could be used. I need to check the listing again, but I don’t remember it stating the third bedroom was off of one of the double rooms? I could be wrong. The fridge is far too small for the size of the property. We could not sit in the garden as it was riddled with ants nests. The fog was covered in them every time she went out No wardrobes in any of the rooms? We did not spend much time in the cottage anyway but will not return. Thank you anyway. The area is amazing"

- "This property needs marking as no use to any couple of an age where both need to get up in the night as very small bedroom means only one has access. The doors through to the bedroom are very low and narrow, not suitable for anyone tall, and a little older. The floor between the kitchen and bedroom feels frankly not safe as it gives under your weight. If you weigh more than 11 or 12 stone and if you're over 50, I'd really stay somewhere else. We slept in the living-room, one on the sofa and one on the floor with cushions. It was our first holiday since the pandemic and has completely put us off"

- "Really liked the house. The layout was excellent and the downstairs very comfortable. Kitchen was well speced and very spacious with a few nice touches such as a welcome bottle of bubbly, coffee, milk and biscuits left for us. Bedrooms were comfortable albeit once was a tad cosy for a couple. 2 excellent bathrooms with great showers. I cannot recommend highly enough."

- "A beautiful property and extremely well appointed with plenty of crockery, cutlery, glassware etc. as well as plenty of cooking pots and pans. There was a lovely welcome gift plus lots of nice touches in the property generally. My only negative was that the internet was pretty slow and could be frustrating but I have mentioned it to the agent and they said they would look into improving it.However, that said, we really enjoyed our stay and with 3 generations of us in the property, it was great to be right on the beach, our little ones loved it. There are lots of great places to visit in the area and local walks were fun. A visit to the pier is a must!"
