Visit our family friendly cabin in Bear Valley! We are a short walk (0.30 mile/ ~10 minutes) or snowmobile taxi from the village (cabin is not accessible by vehicle in winter). You can access the Nordic ski area, sledding, snowshoeing, and shuttle service to the downhill resort. After hitting the slopes, take “Home Run” off the backside of the mountain and ski right to your door! This is the ultimate “ski in, ski out” location. Your winter adventure awaits!

Important notes to potential guests:
*Getting around in winter requires riding in snowmobile trailers (no suspension), skiing and walking on snowy roads. Lifting bags, dogs, kids, etc. into and out of a trailer with waist high sides will be necessary. This has been challenging for anyone with strength or mobility issues. Staying with us in the summer is a great way to enjoy this space without the challenges that come with winter access.

This well-maintained cabin, is updated with quality mountain themed furnishings throughout. It has 3 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths. Cabin sleeps 8 guests and can accommodate comfortably up to 12 guests with the extra queen futon and pull out sofa. Our cabin is pet friendly with a STRICT PET POLICY. Only ONE pet per stay for small non to low shedding breeds. There is an additional pet fee IF pet is approved. Pets are considered and allowed case by case ONLY and we refuse the right to accept them. Our Cabin is located in the heart of Bear Valley with walking distance to Bear Valley Village restaurants, pool and shops. In the Wintertime, depending on the snow fall levels, Bear Valley closes the subdivision roads to allow skiers and snowmobiles to access the cabins through a well groomed roads and the roads are closed to all cars including 4WDs. The cabin is one of the closest to the community parking area Lot 'C', which provides with close access in the winter. Cabin is easily accessible by foot, ski, or snowmobile and the groomed roads, allow for the adventurous skiers, to ski down from Bear Valley Ski Resort all the way to the Cabin's front door. Bear Valley Ski Resort is just 3 miles up the road. During ski season, there is a free shuttle from town to the ski lifts you can walk to from the cabin. Welcome to the best-kept secret in the Bay Area! Bear Valley has all the natural beauty and great skiing as Tahoe -- but without the painful traffic, crowds, and prices! It's only 3-ish hours due east from the Bay Area, on scenic, well-maintained (and plowed) Hwy 4.

MUST-READ FOR WINTER ACCESS: When the snow starts piling up in Bear Valley, THE VILLAGE ROADS ARE CLOSED to cars, and instead groomed for skiing and snowmobiling. It makes getting to our house a bit of an adventure! Feel free to discuss with us before booking if this is a concern. We are close to parking -- a 10-minute walk -- and have a cargo sled you can use to pull your stuff, OR you can hire the local "snowmobile taxi" guy to get you in and out for a flat price OR you brave folks can rent your own snowmobile.
BONUS: Intermediate/advanced skiiers/snowboarders can ski home down the back side of the mountain to our front door via the Lunch Run or Home Run.

PETS: Up to two well-behaved dogs allowed for no additional fee.

FEES
NIGHTLY RATE / ADDITIONAL GUESTS: The house can comfortably accommodate 6 adults in the three small bedrooms plus 3 kids/teens in the twin-over-full bunk bed in the loft. Our nightly rate is therefore based on six guests, with additional people $25/night (VRBO calculates this for you). We do this to keep the house (semi) affordable for single families, rather than pricing it higher by default so that it attracts only only multi-families or large groups, who tend to incur much more wear and tear on the house. However, there is also a fold-out couch on the mezzanine in case you really need to bring that 10th person, or just want to spread out. (NOTE: both of the full bathrooms are on the second floor; the third-floor bedroom and bunk bed are reached by a spiral staircase.)

HOUSEKEEPING: Our amazing cleaners charge us a flat fee of $225 winter or summer, which we ask you to pay. (Think about it: they have to take the laundry in and out on a snowmobile!)

INCREASED ALPINE COUNTY TAX: As of Jan. 1, 2025, we must collect a 14% Transient Occupancy Tax for Alpine County.

WINTER RATES: As of Nov. 1, 2024, we charge $325/night in winter (Dec-April) to cover the astronomical cost of electric heat plus firewood. Still $299 in summer.

ABOUT THE HOUSE
Our house is very well set up for two families with children of any age. There's a pac n'play (with sheets), a booster seat with tray, and a selection of kids' books. We have an a smart TV with an AppleTV box running with all the various streaming services plus some games. Quality linens are provided, as are all basic necessities, lots of games (and snow and pool gear), and DVDs. There is also a smart TV in one bedroom if you want to close the kids in there to watch old-school. The kitchen and dining room open to the living room so that cooks don't miss the fun.

We named the house for the big bear medallion on the front and because the night sky here is so clear you can see this constellation clearly. Ursa Major is only 1,600 square feet but we think it feels bigger, thanks to an intelligent open design spread over three levels. Our house was designed by architects Ehrlich, Heft & Rominger; Jack Rominger built his own design award–winning house here in Bear Valley and designed several other houses here as well. His subsequent firm Ehrlich Rominger became well-known for innovative buildings in Silicon Valley for Varian, Fairchild Semiconductor, etc.

In summer, Bear Valley ranges from 50 degrees at night to a comfortable, never too hot 85 degrees midday. In winter, temperatures can drop to the teens. The woodstove in the living room easily heats the whole house, with the help of the 24-foot, three-story ceiling, but a new mini-split heat pump is available to keep you from getting cold.

SLEEPING
There are three small bedrooms total, plus extra beds on the open mezzanines.

Second floor (there are two full bathrooms on second floor, one with stall shower and one with tub):
• Bedroom #1 has a king bed and room (barely) for a twin foam pad next to it if necessary (we have one that can tuck under king bed)
• Bedroom #2 has a king bed, a TV (with Internet-streaming services), and no room except maybe for a dog bed or a pac 'n 'play (which we have) — this room can be closed off with its own bathroom for an en suite.
• Open mezzanine with full-size foldout couch and wooden privacy screen

3rd floor (up spiral staircase, no bathroom):
• Bedroom #3 has a full bed and no room for anything else
• Open mezzanine with bunk beds (twin over full).

NOTE: Bear Valley has no grocery store and only 2 restaurants, so we end up cooking a lot when we're there -- the kitchen is small but fully equipped and functional. Dining room seats 10.

WHAT TO DO IN SUMMER: Our house is a 10-minute walk from either the Bear Valley Lodge (with a pool available to guests for a small fee) or beautiful, private Bear Lake, with its sandy beach, swimming platform, and rope swing. Alpine Lake is a 15-minute drive. Our back yard is full of trees — we have a hammock you can lounge on amongst them in summer — and ends in a granite escarpment that kids love playing on in summer and sledding down in winter. There's mountain biking, hiking, fishing and rock climbing all around.

There's no predicting snowfall but the neighborhood roads are generally closed by late December.

Short Term Rental Permit #2023-275

Beautiful private home 7000 feet up in the High Sierras, 20 feet from the Stanislaus National Forest. Panoramic forest and mountain views to the South and East. Hiking and skiing trails right out the front door. Complete privacy and solitude. So many windows that you feel like you're outside when you're inside.

Most quiet during the spring thaw, when "The snow is melting into music." (John Muir). Wildflowers abounding in July and August, during the annual music festival. Glorious warm days and blazing aspens in the Autumn.

Winter brings the full California ski experience. Once there's a good base of snow, the roads in the residential area are closed and groomed, so no cars are allowed to enter, and everything remains completely white. The snowmobile ride up from the village adds to the adventure! Road's end location is perfect for sledding.

The two bedrooms, each with an adjoining full bath, are on the entry level. The master bedroom has a wood stove and panoramic views. It has a king-size bed and a twin. The smaller bedroom has a twin bed, and also a trundle bed which can be used as one or two twins. The whole second story is one large room, with a wood stove and windows all around. It has a half bath and futons for three or four.

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay in your mountain home. The views were spectacular, and the house was very comfortable. Three stories - upstairs loft has queen bed and two singles. One bedroom on main floor has a double bed. Other bedroom on main floor has four twins in two bunk beds. Downstairs studio has another double including small second kitchen and second bathroom. Main floor includes kitchen, bathroom, couch with 2 rollouts, dining booth and living room with fireplace, large windows with view of trees and open floor plan - sliding glass doors open onto deck.

Come enjoy the tranquility of high Sierra mountain forest in the summer. Nearby lakes and rivers offer swimming, fishing and kayaking.

In the winter, you will find yourself in a true winter wonderland. The roads aren't plowed, access is by snowmobile. You will need to arrange your transport in and out with snowmobile either by renting your own or reserving a taxi ride with a local snowmobile company. We have a snowmobile taxi service that we can recommend (the good news that he is generally flexible with hours, within reason and with advance notice) -- if you need a snowmobile taxi, it is $50 per hour. In good snow years, you can ski to the shuttle to Bear Valley ski resort and then ski back at the end of the day. Bear Valley village is just a 15 minute walk away (about 5-6 blocks). It is easy and beautiful to walk.

VISITING IN WINTER? PLEASE READ: Bear Valley is a special place in the winter - most roads are closed to cars and groomed for skiers and snowmobiles. This means you cannot drive directly to the cabin. The cabin is a 20 minute walk from parking (just over a 1/2 mile), mostly on groomed snow. There is a nice shortcut we call the "cut through"- that makes the walk much shorter - it is sometimes easy to navigate, but after a fresh snow, it may require snowshoes.

If you have never visited Bear Valley in winter, please count on hiring the local snowmobile taxi for your initial trip into the cabin and for when you leave. We will leave at least one pair of adult and one pair of kid snowshoes at the cabin for you to explore while you visit. Intermediate/advanced skiers can ski to the shuttle and back down to the cabin - sometimes it is necessary to carry your skis through the "cut through" or uphill a bit.

Walk to. the nearby Bear Lake reservoir and utilize the provided rugged sit-on-top kayak and SUP (stand up paddle board) or travel a few miles to the larger Lake Alpine where you can rent watercraft for an hour or a day.

When sunset rolls around, enjoy drinks on the deck and catch a view of the milky way later in the evening. Enjoy using the large propane grill to prepare outdoor meals.

significant historical landmark of the village. This popular A-Frame cabin

boasts 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with a loft! The living room offers a large

sofa with a chaise, flat screen TV, wood burning stove, two sliders leading to

the deck with views of the trees and rocks and opens up to the kitchen and

dining room. The fully equipped kitchen offers all of the cooking essentials,

plentiful plates, glassware and silverware and a breakfast bar with barstools.

The dining table has seating for six and extra chairs throughout. The master

bedroom offers a queen sized bed and a dresser. There is a bathroom in between

the bedrooms with a glass enclosed shower over tub and a large vanity. The

secondary bedroom offers twin sized bunkbeds and a queen sized bed, as well as

a Pack N Play in the closet. Upstairs there is a desk and a daybed with a

trundle in the loft, another bathroom with a stall shower and another bedroom

and living area open and great for entertaining. two large leather couches,

flat screen TV with Roku and large stone fireplace, there is bench seating at

the dining table and a large balcony for summer entertaining. Also on the same

level are 2 of the bedrooms. The front bedroom has a queen sized bed with lots

of windows. The back bedroom offers A bunk bed with Queen on bottom, twin on

top and trundle twin. Upstairs there is a Jack & Jill bathroom with a glass

This is a 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom home on 3 levels! The main level is warm and

welcoming with an open plan living area, comfortable leather sofas, a rock

feature fireplace with a propane insert for those cozy evenings by the fire.

There is also a large TV with firestick capability and a DVD player. There are

large windows (double pane throughout) that allow light to stream in so even

in the heaviest snowfall the cabin feels welcoming! The dining table seats up

to 8 and is positioned to enjoy the views. There are two bedrooms and a

bathroom on the main floor. Both bedrooms are queen rooms.

The kitchen is open plan with great views and bar seating. It is fully

equipped, with a coffee maker and filters, dishwasher, blender, cookware etc.

of Adirondack chairs for morning coffee. It overlooks a firepit nestled in the

granite boulders that scatter the property. Access is by way of a cul-de-sac

in the summer months, leading to ample off street parking. In the winter

access will be via snowmobile when you check in and out; between your check-in

and check-out days, you can request snowmobile taxi service. And there is a

great sledding hill right next door!

This 3 story cabin has six bedrooms and three bathrooms and is located

directly across from Bear Lake. With two living rooms this family home has

room for everyone. The main living room has an open floor plan, stone

fireplace and is off the kitchen and dining room area. The second living room

is a TV nook on the bottom floor. There is one bedroom with a queen bed on the

bottom floor. On the main floor, there are two bedrooms. One bedroom has a

queen bed and the other has two twins. On the top floor, there are three more

bedrooms. The master has a king bed, another one has a double bed and the

third bedroom has two twin beds. There is a deck off of the main floor looking

towards the beach of Bear Lake. Owner has patio furniture for deck in the

summer. Firewood provided in winter and a BBQ available in the summer. Ski

in/ski out via Lunch Run or Home Run with a two minute ski trip to the free

shuttle to the ski resort.

The living area has vaulted ceilings and lots of lighting due to the many

windows in th emain living area that let in all of the natural light. The mud

room has a washer and dryer, ideal for two families with kids, and this home

can sleep up to 10 comfortably. It has a King in bedroom #1, 2 sets of bunk

beds in addition to 2 more twins with one being a trundle, the room also has

a TV and DVD player this is bedroom #2 or as we call it the kid room. There

is also a large bathroom with two vanities on this level. Bedroom #3 has a

queen and is on the same level as the mudroom and washer and dryer. This

house is equipped with everything your family will need for a weekend in the

mountains in addition to a large deck and patio table to enjoy the summer BBQs

on. It also has a Hot Tub for you to enjoy after a long day of skiing. The

home is walking distance to the Village if needed which does have Dining, Bar

and General Store for those last minute items.

Come discover this charming, two-story cabin with 3 bedrooms, a large kids loft, two bathrooms, cozy fireplace, decks and BBQ grill, and great views.

Know before you book: the cozy loft is accessed by a vertical ladder (please see the photo with our 3 yr old climbing it; best for kids/ladder-comfortable adults; not recommended for seniors or those with mobility concerns). Our scenic mountain neighborhood includes a steep driveway typical of the area; standard/AWD vehicles handle it well. We welcome dogs at the cabin, and around Bear Valley, but the community beach and lake have HOA rules that do not allow dogs on the sand or in the water (this is a community policy that applies to all homes on the lake).

LAKE and BEACH

During the summer, swimming, fishing, boating (non-motorized) and other water activities are popular. The cabin is also located just above a small beach that is suitable for all ages. Kids are within earshot of the cabin, and the shallow water off this beach makes it a relatively safe play area for young ones.

SLEEPING:

This cabin was designed to comfortably accommodate three families with children. The cabin is approximately 2,000 sq. feet and total sleeping capacity is twelve (12) people. The three (3) downstairs bedrooms feature two king size beds and one queen. The mattresses are new and high quality (eg Tempur-Pedic, Purple). The three downstairs bedrooms can suitably accommodate six (6) adults in total.

The upstairs sleeping loft can accommodate at least 6 children (or 5-6 adults) on two high-quality queen size mattresses, and two stackable Ikea single beds. The loft is accessible via dual ladders located on either side of the living room wood stove and feature trap doors that can be lowered for added safety.

BATHROOMS:

Two (2) separate bathrooms, each featuring a toilet, sink, and shower.

KITCHEN and DINING:

Kitchen includes the following features and appliances:

Bertazzoni electric induction stove and oven, full-size Summit refrigerator, Asko dishwasher, coffee machine and French press, microwave, toaster, mixer/blender, ice cream making machine, stovetop tea kettle, etc. Off the kitchen are an Asko washer & dryer.

The lakeside deck features a new Z Grills 2025 Smoke Beast 10502B Pellet Grill and BBQ tools.

The indoor dining table can accommodate ten (10) people. There is a breakfast bar and stools and additional table seating on the outside decks.

INTERNET and TV and BACKUP POWER

The cabin features high-speed/low-latency Starlink satellite internet service, suitable for video work calls, gaming, TV streaming, etc. The cabin also has a Tesla Powerwall 3 whole-house backup battery that should be able to provide Internet/electrical for approximately 24-48 hours (depending on use) during a grid outage. There is an additional Jackery Explorer 700 Plus Portable Power Station backup battery as well.

The internet connected TV is located in the loft and you can use our existing Amazon Prime Video and Plex services, as well as sign into your own accounts (eg Netflix).

WOOD BURNING STOVE and HEATING

We have a Vermont Castings wood burning stove, which utilizes all the renewable and freely available firewood sourced from Bear Valley’s fire risk mitigation efforts. The wood stove is capable of generating sufficient warmth to heat the entire cabin throughout winter nights.

We also have central heating as well as heating options available in each bedroom to ensure a comfy night of sleep.

- "Bear Lake is really like On Golden Pond in the Sierra's. This home is archectecturally very interesting, and in a perfect spot for peace and quiet. It was built in the 1960's, and so some parts of the home could use a little updating (bathrooms need updating but kitchen is more than fine), but some parts of the home's design are timeless and very well done. We could have sat in the living room and looked at the fabulous view all day. Some warnings - 1) the driveway up to the property is incredibly steep and twisty - if the weather is wet or there is any snow, you may have a bit of a struggle to make it up. 2) the 'loft area' is perfect for young kids who have the energy and skills to climb up and down vertical ladders and narrow access spaces - but I assure you no adults will be doing this. The 3 bedrooms are perfect downstairs, though. This is a fabulous location (might be one of the top 2-3 places on the lake) and a very interesting home. We would definitely stay there again, and look forward to visiting."

Built by the famous architect Donald McDonald in 1974, our cabin has all his original designs and architecture. Red carpets, 1970s light fixtures, and mustard pulldown shades are McDonald trademarks! The meadows to the side of the property are protected land, and coverd with wildflowers in spring and summer months. National forest backs the cabin, while the Bear Valley Lake is only steps away. An outdoor adventureres paradise, with trails and lakes galore!

This historic cabin is also our family vacation home, so we've put a lot of effort into making it a cozy mountain retreat! We hope you will enjoy it as much as we do!

The living area and kitchen are on the top floor, which afford amazing views of the surrounding mountains and meadows. *There are about 12 carpeted steps to the top (2nd) floor.*

The kitchen is small with original rustic cabinetry, but fully stocked with everything you could need for cooking delicous meals! All-Clad pots and pans, high quality Henkles knives, etc. A Weber Grill is also available upon request on the patio.

A comfortable sectional couch surrounds a solid wood coffee table. A large flat-screen TB is mounted and rotates for easy viewing.

All bedrooms and bathrooms are located on the first floor. Showers only, no bathtubs. The beds have new mattresses, with high threadcount white cotten sheets, feather-down comforters, and Pendleton blankets.

During the summer months, street parking is available. Walk 500 ft. to big beach at Bear Valley Lake. Private access is gratnded for HOA members our guests.

of privacy due to its location. It has a Queen Bed and a wonderful sitting

area where you can enjoy some quiet time reading or catching up on emails.

Located on the main level, is the Kitchen/Dining Area and 2 Bedrooms (both

with Bunk Beds), with a bathroom on the main level as well. The Kitchen/Dining

area has ample seating seating for 12 or more at the dining table. The

dining room in the home is perfect for everyone to gather. Also in the dining

room is a pot belly stove for heating this area. There are French doors

leading to the split level decks. In the summer months you can take in the

mountain sky and enjoy nature at its best. Decks are super for entertaining

built in bench seating all the way around. Off of the main entry way and down

a couple of steps in the living area sits a big TV and plenty of room to enjoy

a show with the family or play games. Down from the living room you will find

two more bedrooms, the washer and dryer, and an additional bathroom. On this

level, both bedrooms have King Size Beds. In one of the rooms you have

access to your own private patio as well. All the rooms of the home are

- "First time in Bear Valley, what an amazing location! I was a little worried about the logistics, since you have to bring everything to the cabin by Snowmobile. We have timbersled snow bike kits on our dirt bikes but no trailer so it really couldn’t transport items or additional passengers. They had a shuttle service though and was able to help us get to the cabin even after office hours when we had to deal with a flat tire on our truck on the way. The management was very nice and helpful. The cabin was perfect for a couple of families to stay together, there were only 5 of us and we didn’t use many of the rooms. I was glad I packed water because the faucet water was not drinkable. It was very dirty at first but I did notice that as we ran it more it started coming out much cleaner. The cabin was almost completely encased in snow, we could only see out of the top windows. They had shoveled an entrance down to the door to get inside so we felt like we were sleeping in a furnished ice cave! Lots of games and things to do, we extended our stay from our original booking and wished we could have stayed longer. The kids played and tubed right out the front door. We snow biked and snowboarded right outside the cabin as well. The location was peaceful and quiet. We actually lost phone connection one night. We never were able to get the internet to work for us. It was nice to be disconnected from everything though. Only complaint is that there was no working tv. Lots of dvds but no cords connecting the dvd player. I found cords in another cabinet and we finally got one working but it only played in black and white so that was a bummer. It was an adventure though and we loved it!"

spot for remote work. With great views of the trees and mountains. Up the

stairs you will find the master bedroom - quiet, private, and secluded with

plenty of space and with your own private bath, GREAT BEAR CLAW TUB to sit and

enjoy a glass a wine after a long day in the snow. Down the stairs off the

main entry way in the lower level there are two rooms, one has a queen bed

and the other room is the Bonus Room with a POOL TABLE BIG SCREEN TV AND A

- "Very pleasant. The house was bright and airy. Except for the extremely dull knives the kitchen was well appointed although somewhat disorganized. We also found lots of left over food in the refrigerator and on the counters." - "We had a great week as the setting was beautiful, and there is wonderful hiking and wilderness close by. The lakes all around were great for fishing, paddle-boarding and swimming. The house has a great floor plan for hanging out, with lots of light and windows, and the deck was really lovely. We also enjoyed the pool table. Unfortunately, it really didn't feel as though they prepared the house for us as renters who were paying quite a bit for a weeklong vacation in their home. All the shelves were full of food when we arrived, and there wasn't much room for ours, so we had to keep a lot of it in the floor in boxes all week. We also had to throw out multiple items of moldy and rotten food that we found in the fridge when we arrived, which felt like a bummer when starting a vacation. The freezer was so full that we could barely fit anything in it. Lastly, the ad on VRBO at the time we rented the house listed a grill as one of the amenities, which we had checked before we arrived. We were there during a heat wave and brought a bunch of stuff we planned to grill. There was no grill available, and when we reached out to the property manager and the owner about this, no solution was offered. But they have now clarified the listing which no longer lists a grill under amenities. This is a great house and a great area to have a wonderful summer vacation, but for the amount of money it costs to rent it, a bit more care could be taken to prepare it for renters."

entryway has a beautiful natural Rock Floor where you will leave your coat and

wet boots and from there you enter the main living area where you cant miss

the HUGE STONE from floor to ceiling where you would sit and enjoy a fire and

a good movie on the Big Screen TV after a day of skiing.. On the main floor of

the home is the Living Room, Kitchen, Laundry Room, 2 bedrooms and 2

Bathrooms. There also is a pool table in an extended area of the living room.

The Living Room is Large with big windows lots of natural light, great for the

views of the mountains. On the 2ndy story and up the spiral stair case there

is a Large Loft with its on ensuite bathroom. In the loft area there is a King

size bed and 3 twins in addition to a Desk area and a Full Bath with an extra

large tile shower stall and extended bath vanity. There is a Master Bedroom on

the main floor with a Queen, a twin and a full size trundle bed pullout. In

Bedroom 2 there is a King and twin with a full size trundle pull out. The beds

are very comfortable with extra thick mattress's for comfort. The Dining table

in the home extends up to to 6ft, plenty of room around for the gang to enjoy

a home cooked meal. This home is great for a big family or with the layout you

could entertain 3 families in the house. You can ski-in and ski-out from this

home. This home is snowbound in the winter months. In the summer months just a

few steps to Bear Lake for some swimming and a picnic on the lake. During the

winter months over the snow transportation is included in your reservation you

do need to schedule this in advance. The service is for your arrival and

departure. There are additional snow taxis for transportation if needed during

your stay.. There is a free shuttle to the Mountain for downhill skiing that

leaves every 30 minutes to and from the Village. Bear Valley has quite a few

lakes and wonderful hiking trails all over for guests to enjoy. Come stay in

this home above it all!

During the winter months due to snow transportation 8:00PM is the latest

check-in - in the summer months you can check in up to 12:00AM on the Arrival

Date. You will park in public parking in the winter when Snow Transportation

is provided - parking is free. In the summer and spring time when the roads

are open you can park at the property.

The living area has vaulted ceilings and lots of lighting due to the many windows in th emain living area that let in all of the natural light. The mud room has a washer and dryer, ideal for two families with kids, and this home can sleep up to 10 comfortably.

It has a King in bedroom #1, 2 sets of bunk beds in addition to 2 more twins with  one being a trundle, the room also has a TV and DVD player this is bedroom #2 or as we call it the kid room.  There is also a large bathroom with two vanities on this level.  Bedroom #3 has a queen and is on the same level as the mudroom and washer and dryer.   This house is equipped with everything your family will need for a weekend in the mountains in addition to a large deck and patio table to enjoy the summer BBQs on.  It also has a Hot Tub for you to enjoy after a long day of skiing. The home is walking distance to the Village if needed which does have Dining, Bar and General Store for those last minute items.

This is a 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom home on 3 levels! The main level is warm and welcoming with an open plan living area, comfortable leather sofas, a rock feature fireplace with a propane insert for those  cozy evenings by the fire. There is also a large TV with firestick capability and a DVD player. There are large windows (double pane throughout) that allow light to stream in so even in the heaviest snowfall the cabin feels welcoming!

The space
The dining table seats up to 8 and is positioned to enjoy the views. There are two bedrooms and a bathroom on the main floor. Both bedrooms are queen rooms.

The kitchen is open plan with great views and bar seating. It is fully equipped, with a coffee maker and filters, dishwasher, blender, cookware etc. A large fridge freezer is available for your groceries. Upstairs there is an open loft, with 4 beds and a small bathroom built into the eaves. It is a spacious room and ideal for children There are 3 twin beds and a queen comfortably laid out. Downstairs is another bedroom with two twin beds, a bathroom and a second living area - a large games room! Watch a show on the TV or break out the ping pong for hours of fun. There is a sleeper sofa in the games room.

Outside there are 2 decks, 1 of them being a large private deck with a couple of Adirondack chairs for morning coffee. It overlooks a firepit nestled in the granite boulders that scatter the property. Access is by way of a cul-de-sac in the summer months, leading to ample off street parking. In the winter access will be via snowmobile when you check in and out; between your check-in and check-out days, you can request snowmobile taxi service. And there is a great sledding hill right next door!

Well behaved dogs are welcome.

This awesome home above Bear Lake, Great Floor Plan with plenty of room for 2 Families or more You can ski-in/ski-out and great area to pay in the back of the house in the snow for the whole family.

The space
Walking into this home the entryway has a beautiful natural Rock Floor where you will leave your coat and wet boots and from there you enter the main living area where you cant miss the HUGE STONE from floor to ceiling where you would sit and enjoy a fire and a good movie on the Big Screen TV after a day of skiing.. On the main floor of the home is the Living Room, Kitchen, Laundry Room, 2 bedrooms and 2 Bathrooms. There also is a pool table in an extended area of the living room. The Living Room is Large with big windows lots of natural light, great for the views of the mountains. On the 2ndy story and up the spiral stair case there is a Large Loft with its on ensuite bathroom. In the loft area there is a King size bed and 3 twins in addition to a Desk area and a Full Bath with an extra large tile shower stall and extended bath vanity. There is a Master Bedroom on the main floor with a Queen, a twin and a full size trundle bed pullout. In Bedroom 2 there is a King and twin with a full size trundle pull out. The beds are very comfortable with extra thick mattress's for comfort. The Dining table in the home extends up to to 6ft, plenty of room around for the gang to enjoy a home cooked meal. This home is great for a big family or with the layout you could entertain 3 families in the house. You can ski-in and ski-out from this home. This home is snowbound in the winter months. In the summer months just a few steps to Bear Lake for some swimming and a picnic on the lake. During the winter months we do offer transportation to the property when you arrive and when you depart. There are additional snow taxis for transportation if needed during your stay.. There is a free shuttle to the Mountain for downhill skiing that leaves every 30 minutes to and from the Village. And great hikes that you can go on in the summer around the many lakes surrounding Bear Valley. Come stay in this home above it all!

During the winter months due to snow transportation 9:00PM is the latest check-in - in the summer months you can check in up to 12:00AM on the Arrival Date.  You will park in public parking in the winter when Snow Transportation is provided - parking is free.  In the summer and spring time when the roads are open you can park at the property.

Huge Cabin Overlooking Bear Lake!

This 3 story cabin has six bedrooms and three bathrooms and is located directly across from Bear Lake. With two living rooms this family home has room for everyone. The main living room has an open floor plan, stone fireplace and is off the kitchen and dining room area. The second living room is a TV nook on the bottom floor. There is one bedroom with a queen bed on the bottom floor. On the main floor, there are two bedrooms.

The space
One bedroom has a queen bed and the other has two twins. On the top floor, there are three more bedrooms. The master has a king bed, another one has a double bed and the third bedroom has two twin beds. There is a deck off of the main floor looking towards the beach of Bear Lake. Owner has patio furniture for deck in the summer. Firewood provided in winter and a BBQ available in the summer. Ski in/ski out via Lunch Run or Home Run with a two minute ski trip to the free shuttle to the ski resort.

*** DURING THE WINTER MONTHS THIS HOME IS SNOWBOUND AND YOU MUST USE OVER THE SNOW TRANSPORTATION to get to the home and as part of the reservation we provided snowmobile transportation upon arrival and departure only.  We do have Snowmobile Taxis that are accessible during other times throughout your stay.

This home is approximately a 25 minute walk or 1.1 miles from the village center.

Guests will have full access to the home for the duration of their stay. Parking is in either a shared or private driveway or on the street. **It is extremely important that you refer to “The Neighborhood” section near the bottom of this page under “Getting Around” for accessibility during winter. Bear Valley becomes snowbound and roads to the homes are closed to wheeled vehicles.**

Please keep in mind, this is a mountain cabin - The weather and snowfall is out of our control, and expect guests to know and understand this when reserving their stay!

The space
Recently added Hungarian Goose Down Comforters/Duvets in the Master Suite Down and Guest Suite upstairs. The home is also backed up by a propane-powered generator- should power be lost for any reason, the generator automatically starts and provides electricity to fully power the home, sauna, hot tub, and central, forced air, heating. The home is fully stocked with tamarack and almond wood for the wood-burning stove. The hot tub can get snowed in during the ski season and we cannot always get it dug out and operational in time for guests. Please keep in mind the location is at 7000 ft and largely impacted by snow storms. We are not responsible for snow (or no snow) in winter nor can we predict fire conditions and the ability to use / not use BBQ or open fires in the back yard. Bear Valley is beautiful but remote- if you want something with a big village and stores and restaurants, I recommend Lake Tahoe.

Guest access
Guests have access to beautiful Bear Lake, a 5-minute walk away. The lake has a BBQ and fire pit, and in Summer, the lodge has a swimming pool and is accessible for a small daily fee during summer.

Access the hot tub on the property via the combination code on the lock: 1999.

Other things to note
There is a TV and Apple TV connected, but you will need to provide your own login for streaming apps such as Netflix/Hulu. We provide the basics: high-speed Verizon internet, high-definition TV, an Apple TV box and DVD with a small library of movies- the rest is up to you.

Keep in mind that the closest grocery store is 35 minutes from my home—the general store in Bear Valley is small and has limited hours. For ease of logistics, we recommend bringing the bulk of your groceries and drinks up to Bear Valley as the local market has limited supplies and is expensive.
Snowfall can be unpredictable and can affect travel plans—plan accordingly, and please reach out if you have any questions. I do not control the weather and cannot change/cancel reservations due to weather conditions.

Please be aware that the Spa/ Hot Tub cover has a lock that prevents it from moving when opened. Please move that hinge/ lock back to open before trying to shut the hot tub, or the locking mechanism will be damaged. Do not operate the spa or leave the spa cover open when there is a wind storm as the top can blow shut and cause a risk of injury or damage to the hot tub.

Bear Valley is a car-free village in Winter- keep in mind that you will need to walk in during the winter or rent a "snowmobile taxi." We can help you organize a snowmobile taxi or rent a snowmobile in Winter.

Plan ahead if it is snowing—it is not advisable to walk in, rent a snowmobile, or organize a snowmobile ride, for example, in a snow storm or at night, to show up and try to carry kids, luggage, and groceries to the house as it is still a 5-minute walk.
