20 years ago my husband and I purchased this ground and began to pursue what became a dream! Gardens! What started as one acre with a house and 2 cabins has expanded to 7 acres including a nursery. Over the years, we have been elevated to a Botanical Garden and an Internationally accredited Arboretum and have been recognized in many national and international publications as well have earned numerous awards.
This year, we have decided to welcome visitors to our after hour world to privately enjoy the gardens and our very special cabins. If you are looking for a special experience this is it!
Cabin #1( The Iona Cabin) is 140 years old! We restored it the first year that we were here but it is still rustic! This one room magical fairyland cabin sits in the heart of Tizer Botanic Gardens, in the elbow of Prickly Pear Creek. Snuggle up to the original cook stove, or hang outside and watch the stars while sitting by the fire. Lay in bed and listen to the sound of the rippling creek or better yet sit at the creek and pan for Gold. There was no indoor plumbing back 100 plus years ago and still isn’t. But we have added a great Toilet House with composting toilet, separate from the cabins.
Iona Cabin has a small refrigerator, microwave, coffee machine and toaster. Please come prepared as though you are having a picnic. Bring your own dishes, utensils , food and beverages.
Iona Cabin has a queen size mattress and the bedding is lovely and fresh.

Cabin #2 (The 7/11 Cabin) is only big enough for a double bed. Literally! But while Cabin #1 sits in the elbow of Prickly Pear, Cabin #2 sits in the middle of the Creek on a lovely little island. You can almost lie in bed and throw your fishing pole in the creek! It has a wonderful living roof! The 7/11 Cabin was built as a sleeping cabin and that is what it is, with room enough only for a double bed and night table. Therefore we rent this cabin as an addition to the Iona Cabin if you should need an extra bed.
You are welcome to use the BBQ, have a wiener roast by the fire or we can direct you to some outstanding restaurants that are a short 5 mile drive away. Why not take your breakfast to the sweet gazebo in the middle of it all. Oh and did we mention that the trees are lit up at night?
Our gardens are open to the public daily from 10- 6:00, except Thursdays we are open until 9. Once the gates are closed to the public, you are welcome to enjoy the magic all on your own. We live on site and if requested may be available to give you a tour.
The time spent in our cabins will be healing and stress free. There is no wifi, TV or phone service. Come to meditate or get reacquainted with someone special or just to get lost in Mother Nature’s Beauty.
We are located one mile off I-15 halfway between Yellowstone and Glacier National parks, just 18 miles south of Helena the state capital of Montana, in the heart of the Elkhorn Mountains. Just 3 ½ hours from either park.
Our guests are requested to park in our private driveway so that you have access to your vehicle in the evening. Because of the excess of wildlife in the area, the property is fenced with a tall deer-d- fence for yours and the gardens protection.

The renovated Ranch House is perfect as the gathering place for a romantic retreat, or home base while watching wildlife and exploring the Elkhorns. It is part of a 900 acre working cattle ranch that borders National Forest. We are about 25 minutes outside of Helena, Montana, so we are close to town, but secluded in the mountains. There is access to hiking and biking trails minutes away.

The house has 2 bedrooms with double beds and a fold out sofa bed. It has a fully functioning kitchen and a smaller bathroom. There is also a covered porch to take in the mountain views and a fire pit to enjoy the stars of the Big Sky during the evening. Often during the summer, a herd of elk grazes in the hay field right out the back door.

This 100 year old home has been updated and added to slowly throughout the years and has a lot of history to tell. It is great for people with a sense of adventure and don't mind the classics. Although the house is very clean, some wear and tear from being lived and worked in are inevitable. Come and enjoy real Montana ranch living in a mountain oasis.

The ranch house is also the perfect halfway point for travelers visiting Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks looking to keep an authentic Montana feel.

This country setting is perfect for a get-a-way from the world for one or two guests. Located just 16 miles south of Helena, this loft is conveniently situated to enjoy town and country.

With an open space loft and full garage below, this is a perfect space for 1 or 2 people. The kitchen is stocked. If there is anything that we forgot that would make your stay better - just ask and we will do our best to provide it. There is a deck off the loft with wonderful views of the Elkhorn Mountains.

In any direction you can hike, bike or atv. North of Jefferson City you can dine at Chubby's Restaurant in Clancy (a fun western atmosphere with great food), or travel a little farther into Helena for shopping, dining, cultural, historic and arts opportunities. The Helena Symphony (Helena Symphony Under the Stars in July - free concert outside at Carroll College), Community Band Concerts, Helena Stampede and Rodeo, the Farmers Market (Saturdays during the summer and fall), the Brewers Baseball Games and (my personal favorite) Montana Shakespeare in the Park (Helena and Boulder) are all wonderful events to attend. South of Jefferson City you can enjoy the Boulder Hot Springs (10 miles to Boulder), use one of the three very popular health mines in Basin, or enjoy fantastic fishing on the Boulder River. Also, you can take a day trip to Yellowstone National Park, historic Butte or the Grant Kohrs Ranch in Deer Lodge (be sure to visit the Deer Lodge prison while you are there - one great tour), or float/fish the world renowned Missouri or Madison Rivers!
