Ballinglanna is a coastal community set right on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean approximately 11kms from the vibrant town of Clonakilty in West Cork.

The rental property sits on an elevated clifftop site resulting in superb views over a broad expanse of sea bookended by headlands. Situated at the end of a cul de sac development of holiday homes, it enjoys an extra degree of privacy - with no passing traffic to get in the way of those views!

The open-plan living/dining/kitchen area is a large, bright space with windows facing east, south and west. The full height patio windows/door open southwards onto a patio with uninterrupted views to the south and west. An open fireplace is surrounded by comfortable sofas, tub chair, movable side tables, a TV with satellite connection, DVD player and radio/cd player. There is also a large range of dvds, CDs and books available for use by guests of all ages and there is free internet/wifi.

The well-appointed kitchen is equipped with cooker (with four-plate hob, oven and grill), fridge (with a second, larger fridge/freezer in the utility room), dishwasher, microwave, blender, toaster and coffee-maker. Glassware, tableware and cookware are plentiful and of a high standard. The utility room has washing, drying and ironing facilities and there is a fridge/freezer installed there also.

There is an option of three or four bedrooms, depending on the requirements of individual guests - two double rooms and two twin-bedded rooms. One of the double rooms is large and furnished with a sofabed and so can be used as an extra living room/space, or converted to a double bedroom if required. The master bedroom features a kingsize bed with en-suite bathroom (fully revamped in May 2021 to include a walk-in electric shower) and there are two twin-bedded rooms.

The main bathroom was completely refurbished in March 2022 and now features a walk-in power shower.

The house is centrally heated, sleeps 8 in total and all bed linen and towels are provided. Guests are asked to bring their own beach towels.

HOW TO FIND US: (Directions from Clonakilty to the house)
These directions are based on the guest(s) arriving in to the town of Clonakilty, County Cork from the direction of Cork City on the N71 road. From Cork City take the N71 to Clonakilty (via Bandon).
At the first roundabout you meet in Clonakilty (with a SuperValu supermarket on the right), take the first exit to the left, sign-posted to Ring. Continue on this road to Ring Village. The road runs right beside the water.
In Ring village take the first turn right by the water and continue along this road (with the water bordering the road to the right hand side). You will come to a tight corner where the road veers to the left, away from the water - continue to follow this road uphill, until it levels out.
Continue on to a T-junction. Turn right and then immediately left at the next triangular junction. Continue on that road for approx 1.5 miles until you reach Ballinglanna. At the end of the hill down into Ballinglanna, you will see a cluster of white houses on the right hand side, overlooking the sea - Ballinglanna Cove. Ard na Farraige (No. 18) is at the very end of the cul-de-sac.

Food and Drink: Restaurants around Clonakilty, Courtmacsherry, Timoleague and Rosscarbery cater for all tastes and budgets. These range from take-aways to cafés, gastropubs, bistros and gourmet restaurants. Local specialities and seafood are included in their menus.

Wildlife, Birdwatching and History :
Wildlife: The sea views from the house change by the hour with the ebb and flow of the ocean tide over the rock formations running just below the house, and the daily comings and goings of fishing boats. There is constant seabird activity and, for early morning risers, rabbits are often to be seen popping in and out of burrows in the grassy slope to the rear of the house. Some guests have even been lucky enough to see dolphins at play in the bay, from the comfort of the living room or patio.

Birdwatching: For those with a particular interest in birdwatching, there are plenty opportunities for this in and around Clonakilty and Courtmacsherry Bays. There is easy access and viewing all around both estuaries and lagoons. As you travel to Clonakilty via Ring village you will notice a vast bird population on the estuary and large numbers of Waders feed and roost here from late Autumn to early Spring.

We're just a twenty minute walk from the fabulous Blue Flag Inchydoney Beach with its own surf school offering a holiday club for the children (and the big kid in you!).

Clonakilty town is only a mile away with a host of cafes, restaurants and bars including the famous De Barras Folk Club with live music most nights.

The space:

Our caravan is located on our property overlooking the ocean at the idyllic Ballinglanna Bay in beautiful West Cork. We have a little over an acre of land surrounded by mature trees and green fields.

The caravan is only a few years old so it has all the mod cons that older caravans wouldn’t have such as insulation, double glazed windows and ducted heating throughout, making it very cosy.

It is equipped with everything you need such as a hot shower and bathroom and kitchen and dining space. If you haven’t tried staying in a caravan before, it’s also a great opportunity to give the caravan life a go!

Our location is incredibly peaceful and is the perfect place to slow down and have a little reset.

There is an abundance to offer in the area but some of our favourite things to do are:

- Have a slow morning, cook a wholesome breakfast and sit out in the sun to eat.
- Have a swim on high tide at the boat ramp just 150 metres from the caravan.
- Walk to Simon’s Cove via the cliffs from Ballinglanna Bay
- Kayak in the bay and explore the area by the sea
- Go for a sunset stroll to Ring Pier in Clonakilty Harbour just a 3km drive or walk from the caravan.
- Have dinner outside in the beautiful Courtmacsherry Hotel while overlooking the bay.
- Go to Incydoney for a walk on the beach.

As can be seen from the photos the property is small but spacious enough for two people. We are just two miles from Clonakilty, on a quiet country road perched on top of a hill with wonderful views. Typically the only sounds we hear are that of birdsong, the rooster on the farm across the road and the odd dog barking in the distance.

The apartment space is part of a duplex (2 floor) apartment.

The main apartment entrance (note the apartment number in my address) brings you into a hallway which is the rental space (see in photo).
We live in the upstairs part of the apartment and would be using the same hallway to go upstairs to our space.
The rental floor has a double bedroom, a shower room, a living space, there is access to a private balcony.
(All rooms have a key).

The neighbourhood is quiet as the apartment faces the back of the building.

It is a 4 min walk to the main street where you will find all the cafes, bars, restaurants & shops.

Location: we're just outside the town, the house is on the main N71 road approx 1.7km outside of the town, which takes 15-20min walk on a safe foothpath to the town centre.

Beautiful bungalow that offers a private room for guests on the outskirts of Clonakilty town. We are situated on the main Clonakilty to Cork road and within walking distance (20mins) to all town amenities. There is a safe and well lit footpath across the road from our house into Clonakilty town. The pathway Joe Walsh walkway will also bring you to Gullane lake a which you can visit and is only 2 minutes away from our house.

The bedroom is warm, bright and spacious. The bathroom is a wetroom is located in the hallway just off the bedroom. It is an electric shower so you will have hot water from the shower on demand. We provide some of the bathroom essentials like shampoo, hand soap and towels.

We offer complementary basic tea/coffee making facilities. This is a room only basis so there is no access to any kitchen facilities and no access to the main part of the house. In the room we do have a microwave and kettle.

There is a washing machine in the space which is €5 per use. The dryer is available to use at a charge of €10 per cycle. With rising costs of energy these prices we have to put these prices in place. Please chat with us if you want to use any of these facilities.

We are on the main road so naturally there is noise from the main road.

The room can sleep up to 4 people. There is one king bed and one double futon bed as shown in pictures.
Ideally it is most comfortable for 1 to2 people sharing the King bed. As you can see from the photos it is one bedroom, so naturally the space will get smaller and tighter with 3 to 4 people staying. We find people who have booked for 3 to 4 people are those just looking for a night to lay their head down while exploring the Wild Atlantic Way.

We are a young family with a toddler and two dogs. While the room is private it's still part of our house and it is not sound proof!! So you might hear a bark, cry or giggle! 😁😁

The room is priced price per 2 person sharing the King Bed. An additional charge will apply if 2 persons sharing wish to have the futon bed set up.

Dogs are welcome at an extra charge, please enquire before booking for price!

A traditional Irish Street House, 5 Ashe Street is over 200 years old. We have extensively renovated and decorated in a simple style with an industrial feel. Smack bang on the town square, you will be right in the middle of the cosmopolitan village life of Clonakilty.

The space
5 Ashe St. is a very narrow street house which has wonderful views of Clonakilty village life from each of the 4 floors. There are carpeted stairs with handrails but no lift. With a fully equipped kitchen you can enjoy sourcing and cooking with abundant local produce. There is limited sitting room areas, but we hope you will be out & about enjoying all that Clonakilty has to offer.

Guest access
Guests will have access to all areas of the house including a small back courtyard to catch the morning sun. There is a small sitting space at the front of the house looking over the town square, and a Den on the 2nd floor.

Other things to note
We ask that you are mindful of locking the front door as we are directly on a main thoroughfare of town, and that you remember not to take our keys home with you!
Being right in the centre of town, there could be some noise issue on the weekends with people making their way home.
The front door opens directly onto the street, making the house unsuitable for children.
We have a strict No Smoking policy which extends to the rear courtyard. Thank you for observing this requirement.

This unique tiny house is an inviting & creative space, located along the Wild Atlantic Way - exactly 1/2 way between the 2017 Urbanism award winning town of Clonakilty and the renowned beach Inchydoney which is known for being one of the most beautiful and relaxing beaches in West Cork. Built using native Douglas fir & surrounded by trees, the cabin is located on the grounds of a small residential home where guests will have their own separate outdoor decking and privacy.

The Cabin looks across the Clogheen Marsh so the following extract from birdwatch Ireland might be of interest to our guests!
"Clonakilty comprises two estuaries separated by Inchydoney Island. The northern area is Clonakilty Harbour with estuarine mud and sandflats. Cul de sac pool, an area of open water and reedbed, with a fringe of alder woodland, is part of this area. The southern area is Muckross Strand, again an estuary with mainly sand flats. There are two areas of marsh with patches of exposed mud and marsh; White's Marsh and Clogheen Marsh lying to the north and west of Muckross Strand.
Generally wintering waders and wildfowl but particularly Black-tailed Godwit, Bar-tailed Godwit, Curlew, Golden Plover, Wigeon, Shelduck, Dunlin, Oystercatcher, Redshank, Greenshank and Knot."

-Logs for the stove are stored around the side of the Cabin. -When lighting the stove best leave the air vent open and close once flame is burning keeping a little open all the time.
-Please don’t put coal into the wood burning stove as it would damage it.
-The road into town is dark in patches so bring a torch if planning on walking at night.
-The outdoor light is on a sensor so will turn itself off.

Ian & Edell's Courtyard Loft is located on the outskirts of Clonakilty, It is an independent property - separate entrance & carpark, situated in an established garden with a private guest seating area within 5 minute walking distance of the vibrant town. Nearby award winning Inchydoney beach& surf school, cinema, playground, equestrian centre, Michael Collins museum, model village, amid an array of excellent restaurants, lively music bars,artisan cafes, bakeries and arts and craft shops.

The Loft Apartment accessed by stairway, comprises of 1 double room en-suite, 2nd bedroom has bunkbeds also ensuite - extra pull out bed available at an extra small cost. There's spacious open plan living area that includes kitchen , dining and generous sitting area. The apartment would also be suitable for a romantic getaway or family holiday.
