The photos undersell the place’s charm and coziness. It is simultaneously quaint (guessing WPA-era original construction) with modern appliances and amenities. The beds were so comfortable, I asked the proprietor about the mattresses so that we could buy one for our home. The only nits to pick are a narrow shared driveway (but you could park on the street) and a single, small bathroom (which comes with a great shower!). With family in Ames, we will definitely stay at the cottage any time it is available."

Located in west Ames, in close proximity to Iowa State University, this twin home offers three bedrooms, two of which are en suite, perfect for privacy when traveling with colleagues, extended family, or friends. The third bedroom has a bathroom of its own just down the hall.
This house is surprisingly spacious! At just under 2,000 square feet, it provides room and style for everyone!
When mingling's the mission, there are two common areas to enjoy!
Upstairs you'll find a modern living room with seating for six, perfect for a quiet evening with a glass of wine and good conversation.
Downstairs is where fun is waiting to happen! The game room includes seating for six in front of our 75" TV, a pool table, air hockey, retro arcade games, a youth basketball hoop, and a game table for four which, of course, is accompanied by a variety of games to play!
When you're ready for some personal space, each of the sleeping quarters has ample to offer and is equipped with its own 43" TV.

The unit is a 1897 house with lots of charm. There will be 13 stairs to get to the bedrooms in the property. We do not allow smoking in the unit, nor do we allow pets. TV channels are spotty at best, but don't worry, Netflix is all queued up and ready to watch! The other side of the property is rented out to 3 responsible professionals. Please try to be respectful them. We look forward to you staying at our airbnb!

Come enjoy our nicely furnished home just 2 miles from Iowa State University. This home has 4 bedrooms and can comfortably sleep 10. Every bedroom has a smart TV and there is a 75" Samsung in the theater room. All access Hulu is provided at no cost. Get outside in the huge backyard to BBQ, shoot some hoops, or just enjoy the crisp Iowa air! The kitchen is loaded with amenities including a coffee bar and the bathrooms have everything you may have forgotten to pack from a toothbrush to shampoo to razors. We thought of everything!

Located in the historic district of Ames this charming 2nd floor studio apt is warm and cozy. Lots of natural light and a full kitchen! Your own garage to park in. Two blocks from Main Street with shopping, bars, and a market.
- "This was a relaxing and calm get away. We were a 5-7 minute walk from downtown so that was nice. We had all the amenities we needed and we had an allocated place to park." - "There is a lot of alrdy-chipped and currently-chipping paint in this unit (at the moment at least). Host assured me that since it's a rental they have to pass strict inspections yearly, so I wasn't worried about harmful stuff as a result. :) Several of the windows are SUPER stuck in the heart of winter (early Feb), but at least one worked easily, which was all I needed to lower the temperature. :) A key thing to know if you're sensitive to temperature, is that the Thermostat is controlled from the first floor where a (I assume permanent) tenant lives; you msg the host in the Vrbo app to get any adjustments made. I sort of doubt there are separate temperature controls for each of the bldg's several units though, so it is probably the case that you can't really get settings too far off the norm. Personally I like/need it on the extreme cold side (I run a setting of 61 F at home), but that's just me, and in the winter at least the window solution worked great. :) The only other thing to mention is that, due to the multiple units and especially the resident downstairs, there ARE Quiet Hours listed in the physical welcome booklet in the unit, that weren't in the online listing at all (at least when I booked my stay). This, like the temperature, is probably not a problem at all for most ppl, but I'm a night owl (at home my waking hours often look something like 6pm to 10am) and pacing from midnight to 3am was noticed due to the creeky floorboards heh. All that being said the host is awesome - very friendly and responded almost immediately every single time I typed a msg on the Vrbo app - and the unit is awesome as well! Btw the second bed mentioned on the listing is a trundle, which the host will ask if you want after you book. Fantastic price, perfect location, and everything I needed (tv, microwave, fridge, freezer) made my trip a joy. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!"

This property is a duplex with two units. This listing is on the main level, and includes two bedrooms, a private bathroom, living room, dining room & full kitchen with a shared laundry room in the basement, and shared outdoor 4-person hot tub with jets. The second unit (the Fox Den) is an efficiency apartment on the lower level. Neither unit has access to the other's space. The only shared area is the laundry room.

Our place is a 10 minute drive to I-35/Ames. Restaurants & a park are within walking distance. This space is a flat above a detached garage and has a lovely, rustic charm and is separate from the main house. The living room has a pull-out couch, increasing guest size from 4 up to 6. The space includes a mini fridge, microwave, Keurig, smart TV, Wi-Fi, dining area and an outdoor grill.
This is not handicap accessible as it requires going up one flight of stairs.

There is a neat feature in the building were there is a seating area and a fuzzball table away from the apartment too. We will likely be back someday. Our closest loved ones live nearby. A perfect wooded hideaway for someone who enjoys the stillness of nature & the chance to see foxes, deer, woodchuck, turkeys & more, while enjoying easy access to all the fun Ames has to offer! The Fox Den is a cozy efficiency apartment in a duplex nestled at the end of a cul-de-sac, just a short walk to downtown Ames (the library, post office, grocery store, main street shopping, farmers market, city parks, bus line & more), a brief drive to campus, many tasty restaurants, and easy access to highway 35.
The space:
Although this efficiency apartment is in a basement, the large windows keep the apartment feeling open and spacious. There is a stovetop, microwave and toaster for cooking your own meals, as well as a 3/4 fridge. You'll also have access to wireless internet, a patio, fire pit and hot tub. At night, the path to and from the apartment is well lit for safe access. We specifically constructed the space with noise canceling features, but you may still hear guests above if there is someone staying in the upper portion of the duplex.
This property is a duplex with two units. This listing is in the basement, and includes a bed/living area, a kitchenette, a private bathroom, a shared laundry room, and shared outdoor 4-person hot tub with jets. The second unit (Downtown Ames Peaceful Getaway) is a 2 bedroom 1 bath unit on the main level. Neither unit has access to the other's space. The only shared area is the laundry room.

Amenities Use:
All listed and shared amenities, including gyms and other building features, are available for guest use at your own risk. Access is not guaranteed and may be limited or unavailable due to building maintenance, scheduling, or other factors. The host is not liable for any injuries, accidents, or service interruptions that may occur during your stay.
Guest Requirements & Screening:
The guest who books the reservation must be at least 21 years of age and is considered the primary guest. The primary guest is responsible for the reservation, must be staying at the property during the reservation period unless prior written approval has been granted, and is fully accountable for the conduct of all individuals included in the reservation. Any violation of house rules by the primary guest or their invitees will be the responsibility of the primary guest and may result in fees, penalties, or early termination of the stay without refund.
This property offers self-check-in. For the safety, security, and protection of all parties, we require all reservations to complete an identity verification and background screening through a secure third-party service. The verification process includes submitting a valid government-issued photo ID and a live selfie to confirm identity. The name on the ID must match the name on the reservation. This must be completed and approved before check-in instructions will be released.
An email with instructions to complete the verification will be sent shortly after booking. If you do not see the email, please check your spam or junk folder. Failure to complete and/or pass the verification process—including meeting age and background requirements—will result in ineligibility to stay at the property. In such cases, the reservation must be canceled by the guest, and the standard cancellation policy will apply.
Security Deposit & Violations:
A $250 pre-check-in security deposit may be required to cover incidentals or damages. This deposit is fully refundable after check-out, provided no violations or issues occur. A minimum fee of $250 may be charged if any house rules are broken, including but not limited to unauthorized parties, smoking, unapproved pets, tampering with devices, or exceeding occupancy limits. Serious or repeat violations may result in immediate cancellation of your stay without refund.

Smoking is strictly prohibited inside the unit, in common areas, and on the property.
Parties, events, and disruptive behavior are not permitted.
Pets are not allowed.
Quiet hours are from 10 PM to 7 AM. A warning will be issued for noise complaints; a second complaint may result in removal from the property without refund.
All guests must be registered. Maximum occupancy limits must be followed at all times.
Do not move furniture, décor, or appliances.
Tampering with Wi-Fi routers, smart devices, security cameras, or locks is strictly prohibited.
Mail or package delivery is not allowed. The host/property is not responsible for lost, delayed, or returned deliveries.
No glitter, confetti, glue, or paint. Any added décor must be approved in advance and removed before checkout.
Our check-in time is 4:00 pm and our check-out time is 11:00 am. Early check-in and late check-out requests are subject to availability and may incur extra fees.
Community Amenities:
Community amenities such as the pool, gym, and other shared spaces may occasionally be closed due to maintenance, weather conditions, or local ordinances beyond our control. The community also sets its own hours of operation and policies that guests are required to follow (for example, posted pool and gym rules). While guests are welcome to enjoy these amenities when available, access is not guaranteed, and refunds will not be issued for amenity closures or limited access during your stay.
Noise & Monitoring:
This unit includes a Minut smart home device to monitor noise levels, smoking, and occupancy for safety and neighborhood compliance. The building is located in a multi-unit residential property, and occasional noise from neighboring units may occur. While we do not manage other units, we strive to maintain a respectful and quiet environment for all guests.
Maintenance, Safety & Access:
Routine maintenance or inspections may take place during your stay. In the event that building management, maintenance staff, or emergency personnel need to access the unit, we’ll do our best to provide advance notice. Guests are required to allow entry if needed. For safety reasons, tampering with smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, fire extinguishers, or other safety equipment is not permitted and may result in reservation cancellation.
Lockouts & Key Policy:
Lost keys, damaged lock devices, or lockouts may result in a replacement or service fee depending on the timing and circumstances.
Wi-Fi Usage:
Wi-Fi is provided as a courtesy. While we aim to provide reliable service, connectivity is not guaranteed and may be impacted by provider outages or high usage.
Cleanliness Expectations:
Guests are expected to maintain reasonable cleanliness during their stay. Excessive messes or damage may result in additional cleaning fees.
External Noise Disclaimer:
Construction or city maintenance near the property may occur. While we try to notify guests in advance, we cannot control or refund for external noise from neighboring activity.

Kick back and relax in this cozy, modern space. This cottage is located in small town Iowa and is only 10 minutes away from the bustling city of Ames(shopping, restaurants, etc) and 15 minutes away from ISU. Great location to stay for game weekends!
Just a short walk away to the local ice cream shop! Local restaurants and coffee shops are nearby too.
This is the perfect cottage for a weekend couple's get away or a peaceful place to stay during a work trip. This beautiful space provides a relaxing retreat for any occasion.

Welcome to our adorable studio guest suite in our family home, located in a quiet residential neighborhood of north Ames. It's just 2 minutes to beautiful Ada Hayden Heritage Park Lake, 8 minutes to Mary Greeley Medical Center, and 8 minutes to ISU.
The guest suite includes approximately 400 square feet of personal space and has a private entrance. With our convenient self-check-in, you will enjoy a private stay with no host interaction unless you happen to see us in one of our shared spaces. There typically is ample street parking available close to the house, making a very short walk to get to your car and off to wherever you need to go!
This property is a duplex, comprised of two separate houses. The first house is our full-time family home. We live upstairs and have opened up the downstairs garden level to guests. As with any lower level space, the ceiling is not completely sound-proof, so you are able to make out some footsteps and muffled activity from above during the day. During the night, the space is tranquil and offers a peaceful sleep. The second house is occupied full-time by an amazing tenant who is very quiet and respectful.
Our family includes a nine pound bundle of fur and love, who you may see or hear from time to time! There also is a sweet, middle-aged dog who resides in the second house, who you may see in the yard every once in a while.
The guest suite is perfect for one person, but can accommodate a maximum of two.
The bed in the suite is queen-sized, and has a very soft, comfortable mattress topper on it. If you prefer a firm mattress, this may not be the right fit. If you enjoy a soft sleep, this bed is for you!
For your entertainment, there is a 42” Smart TV, which includes Roku and Live TV. We are pleased to provide fiber optic high speed internet for your use. You are welcome to log into any of your own personal apps to use during your stay.
The 3/4 bath provides the basics, including a toilet, vanity with storage, and a cozy, modern tiled shower.
The suite kitchenette is perfect for your light, on-the-go cooking needs, and includes a refrigerator, combination microwave/convection oven, two-burner hot plate, toaster, and Keurig for your morning coffee. A small supply of glasses, coffee mugs, plates, bowls, utensils, pots, and pans round out the kitchen accommodations.

Designed for those guests whose needs are simple, these two connected sleeping rooms are clean, private and super economical. There is no full kitchen but a fridge and small appliances. There is a 3/4 bathroom used only by this unit, but it is across the common hall and not inside the unit. This unit can sleep up to three single persons, there are 3 beds in two bedrooms. Coin op laundry in basement, elevator, 24/7 surveillance cameras in common areas.

Originally built as a bank, this building has been converted to both short term and long term stays.

The city does not allow overnight parking on the downtown streets, but there are two municipal lots a block away from this building.

While our rental listing is for a private room inside our home, we welcome Guests to use the main floor any hours they wish! The spacious living room offers plenty of places to lounge and stretch out. Our dining room provides a large kitchen table to eat meals and enjoy the morning hours. Want a late-night snack? Us too!! The kitchen and Coffee Station are available all hours! If you're in need of doing laundry, a stackable stainless-steel unit is located off of the main floor kitchen. Laundry detergent and other supplies are also available. Guests are welcome to bring their own detergent if preferred. In addition to the private desk located in each Guest room, we have set up another work area off of the living room. Outside space also available!! We have a covered back porch, ceiling fan/light combo. This back porch seating offers bar height stools and a small ledge perfect to enjoy evening meals while watching the wildlife pass by. The back deck has stair access to the back lawn with many acres to explore!

All ground floor, this studio unit is just on the edge of downtown Boone. 1 queen bed. The bathroom is shower only, no tub. It's near restaurants, grocery store, banks, post office, shops, a brewery and last, but not least, Yoke's Railhouse Bar is right next door. This sleeps 2 but there is just one bed (a queen).

A perfect wooded hideaway for someone who enjoys the stillness of nature & the chance to see foxes, deer, woodchuck, turkeys & more, while enjoying easy access to all the fun Ames has to offer! The Fox Den is a cozy efficiency apartment nestled at the end of a cul-de-sac, just a short walk to downtown Ames (the library, post office, grocery store, main street shopping, farmers market, city parks, bus line & more), a brief drive to campus, many tasty restaurants, and easy access to highway 35.
The space
Although this efficiency apartment is in our basement, the large windows keep the apartment feeling open and spacious. There is a stovetop, microwave and toaster for cooking your own meals, as well as a 3/4 fridge. You'll also have access to wireless internet, a patio, and shared outdoor 4-person hot tub with jets. We specifically constructed the space with noise canceling features, though you may still occasionally hear people walking upstairs. At night, the path to and from the apartment is well lit for safe access.
