Getting Around:
There are many different ways that you can travel throughout Ames! The city’s public transportation service, CyRide, has multiple bus lines that stop by our suite and can take you to the ISU campus and Downtown Ames. Rideshare services like Uber and Lyft are also very popular. Many shops, restaurants, and grocery stores are also accessible by foot or bike.

Checkout is at 10 am. We offer a complimentary extension to 11 am as long as you request it 24 hours before your scheduled departure. Looking for more time? The latest we can accommodate is 1 pm at $25/per every hour needed.

The Historic Goeppinger Building has been around since 1915. Built by the Goeppinger family to house the offices of their farming and saddlery businesses, they provided offices for doctors, lawyers, realtors, dentists and teachers on first and second floors over the years. The third floor was once a beautiful lodge with a dance floor, kitchen, bathrooms, a smoking room for the men and a cloakroom for the women. It was converted to six upscale apartments in 1935. The apartments were leased out as rentals to private tenants from 1935 to 2019. We bought the building in 2007 and continued to operate the building as it had been operated since 1935. In 2019, we decided to restore the apartments and signed with VRBO as hosts. It is our hope to someday become a boutique hotel.

The original marble staircase leads to the lobby area on 2nd floor. Several office suites are occupied on this floor, as well as, the home of the Resident Manager. Another flight of stairs completes the journey to the third floor where you will find your relaxing apartment-suite complete with charming mid-century decor. The suite has a sleeping area with a queen size bed, a relaxation area, a dressing room with a wardrobe, a full bathroom with shower and tub and a fully furnished kitchen. The kitchen has a microwave, coffee pot, toaster and of course a stove and refrigerator. Dishes, pots and pans and utensils are all provided so guests can prepare their own meals and eat "in". Fortunately, there is a grocery store just one block East of the building.

This old building is built like a fortress with 13" of concrete between the basement and the first floor, the first and second floors and the second and third floors. The brick walls are at least 18" thick. The second floor is somewhat of a showplace with lots or original wood, terrazzo floors and Florentine art glass windows in the doors. Don't be afraid to turn on some lights and go exploring while you are here and feel free to ask us if you can view whichever suites are unoccupied. We love showing off the restorations we have done over the years.

This is an old amazing building but it does not come without its quirks, due to its age. We think these quirks just add to the charm of the building. For instance, you may walk on squeaky old hardwood floors, the radiators may let you know when they are warming up your suite and, it may take some time for the hot water to climb up to third floor. The building is across the street from the UP railroad so you may be lulled to sleep by the sound of trains passing through town during the night. Most guest comment that they enjoy the sounds of the trains but we do have a "WHITE NOISE" machine for guest use if you don't find the sounds of trains pleasant.

All listed and shared amenities, including gyms and other building features, are available for guest use at your own risk. Access is not guaranteed and may be limited or unavailable due to building maintenance, scheduling, or other factors. The host is not liable for any injuries, accidents, or service interruptions that may occur during your stay.

Guest Requirements & Screening:
The guest who books the reservation must be at least 21 years of age and is considered the primary guest. The primary guest is responsible for the reservation, must be staying at the property during the reservation period unless prior written approval has been granted, and is fully accountable for the conduct of all individuals included in the reservation. Any violation of house rules by the primary guest or their invitees will be the responsibility of the primary guest and may result in fees, penalties, or early termination of the stay without refund.

This property offers self-check-in. For the safety, security, and protection of all parties, we require all reservations to complete an identity verification and background screening through a secure third-party service. The verification process includes submitting a valid government-issued photo ID and a live selfie to confirm identity. The name on the ID must match the name on the reservation. This must be completed and approved before check-in instructions will be released.

An email with instructions to complete the verification will be sent shortly after booking. If you do not see the email, please check your spam or junk folder. Failure to complete and/or pass the verification process—including meeting age and background requirements—will result in ineligibility to stay at the property. Security Deposit & Violations:
A $250 pre-check-in security deposit may be required to cover incidentals or damages. This deposit is fully refundable after check-out, provided no violations or issues occur. A minimum fee of $250 may be charged if any house rules are broken, including but not limited to unauthorized parties, smoking, unapproved pets, tampering with devices, or exceeding occupancy limits. Serious or repeat violations may result in immediate cancellation of your stay without refund.

Smoking is strictly prohibited inside the unit, in common areas, and on the property.
Parties, events, and disruptive behavior are not permitted.
Pets are not typically allowed. However, we’re offering a limited-time exception during the fall and winter season. - Please see the pet policy below.
Quiet hours are from 10 PM to 7 AM. A warning will be issued for noise complaints; a second complaint may result in removal from the property without refund.
All guests must be registered. Maximum occupancy limits must be followed at all times.
Do not move furniture, décor, or appliances.
Tampering with Wi-Fi routers, smart devices, security cameras, or locks is strictly prohibited.
Mail or package delivery is not allowed. The host/property is not responsible for lost, delayed, or returned deliveries.
No glitter, confetti, glue, or paint. Any added décor must be approved in advance and removed before checkout.
Our check-in time is 4:00 pm and our check-out time is 11:00 am. Early check-in and late check-out requests are subject to availability and may incur extra fees.

Pet Policy:

Noise & Monitoring:
This unit includes a Minut smart home device to monitor noise levels, smoking, and occupancy for safety and neighborhood compliance. The building is located in a multi-unit residential property, and occasional noise from neighboring units may occur. While we do not manage other units, we strive to maintain a respectful and quiet environment for all guests.

Maintenance, Safety & Access:
Routine maintenance or inspections may take place during your stay. In the event that building management, maintenance staff, or emergency personnel need to access the unit, we’ll do our best to provide advance notice. Guests are required to allow entry if needed. For safety reasons, tampering with smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, fire extinguishers, or other safety equipment is not permitted and may result in reservation cancellation.

Lockouts & Key Policy:
Lost keys, damaged lock devices, or lockouts may result in a replacement or service fee depending on the timing and circumstances.

Wi-Fi Usage:
Wi-Fi is provided as a courtesy. While we aim to provide reliable service, connectivity is not guaranteed and may be impacted by provider outages or high usage.

Cleanliness Expectations:
Guests are expected to maintain reasonable cleanliness during their stay. Excessive messes or damage may result in additional cleaning fees.

This, the Victorian Suite, is one of our more luxurious suites in Historic Goeppinger Building located in Boone, IA. It is the perfect setting for honeymooners, anniversaries or just a special weekend retreat. The suite has a queen sized canopy bed made up with fine linens. Our guests comment that the bed was the most comfortable bed they ever slept on. The mattress is the kind that allows two people to sleep comfortably but when one sleeper moves during the night, the other isn’t supposed to feel the movement. Apparently it works!

A dressing room with a desk/make up table is next to a full bath with a sink, stool and a tub and shower combination. The shower has a waterfall head. Guests comment on our big white organic towels and mention that they are so fluffy.

The spacious kitchen has the original cabinets from 1935 and the original inlaid linoleum. It is fully equipped with a full sized stove, full sized refrigerator, microwave, toaster and coffee pot.dishes. The kitchen has cookware, an assortment of dinnerware, from casual to bone china, flatware utensils and a supply of coffee. There is a cute little table for two for romantic dinners.

Our building is old, circa 1915, and it is lovingly restored. Antiques and historic information are displayed in the building with a Wall of Fame, giving credence to the original owners of the building. Located right in our building is Kelly's Salon 908, a men's vintage clothing store, the Haberdashery, and Belluci's Pizza House. Kelly has been in our building for 20 years, The Haberdashery for 7 years and Belluci's Pizza House has called our building home since 1965.

Boone has something for everyone. Just down the street are the Boone Theater, several antique stores, a variety of restaurants, a women's clothing store, some consignment shops, the bakery and a local brewery. There is a grocery store one block away.

A most enjoyable way to spend a Saturday afternoon in downtown Boone is a visit to the wonderful history museum on Story Street. It is filled with interesting relics from the past.

If you enjoy downhill skiing, snow tubing and snowboarding in the winter, Seven Oaks is just a couple of miles southwest of town. They also offer summer recreation including canoeing, kayaking and river tubing.

We partner with Rail Explorers, an exciting way to view the Des Moines River Valley. If you tell them you are staying with us, you will receive a complementary Rail Explorer's travel mug.

Other area attractions are the Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad and their fabulous dinner train, hiking at Ledges State Park just South of Boone or going to a race at Boone Speedway, You can check out Mamie Doud Eisenhower's Birthplace, another museum near our building, There is also a lot of rich history in Boone County and there are endless possibilities.

Ames is just 12 miles away so if you are planning to attend an ISU game or visit your children in college and want a reasonable place to stay, join us for the weekend.

The brick walls are at least 18" thick. The second floor is somewhat of a showplace with lots or original wood, terrazzo floors and Florentine art glass windows. Don't be afraid to turn on some lights and go exploring while you are here and feel free to ask us if you can view whichever suites are unoccupied. We love showing off the restorations we have done over the years.

Yes, this is an amazing old building but it does not come without its quirks, due to its age. We think these quirks just add to the charm of the building. For instance, you may walk on squeaky old hardwood floors, the radiators may let you know when they are warming up your suite and, it may take some time for hot water to climb up to third floor. The building is across the street from the UP railroad so you may be lulled to sleep by the sound of trains passing through town during the night. Most guest comment that they enjoy the sounds of the trains but we do have a "WHITE NOISE" machine for guest use who don't find the sounds of trains pleasant.

There was a huge cleaning fee yet they wanted us to get all the trash and laundry together and do all dishes. Not sure what the cleaning fee covered. Was almost late getting to competition because the key return had an error and had to reset before it would work. Just a disappointing adventure."

In the heart of downtown Boone and close to Ames there is a lot to do in this little town. You will absolutely love the apartment. It is cozy - safe and beautiful. You can spend your time visiting Ledges State Park - going to the movies three doors away - riding on the Rail Explorers, or going to a Cyclone game in Ames.

There are two bedrooms - both have TV's and your own control of the heat or AC. Living room also has a TV and it's own control. Full bathroom - full kitchen - washer and dryer. Everything you need is right here.

Welcome to our adorable studio guest suite in our family home, located in a quiet residential neighborhood of north Ames. It's just 2 minutes to beautiful Ada Hayden Heritage Park Lake, 8 minutes to Mary Greeley Medical Center, and 8 minutes to ISU.

The guest suite includes approximately 400 square feet of personal space and has a private entrance. With our convenient self-check-in, you will enjoy a private stay with no host interaction unless you happen to see us in one of our shared spaces. There typically is ample street parking available close to the house, making a very short walk to get to your car and off to wherever you need to go!

This property is a duplex, comprised of two separate houses. The first house is our full-time family home. We live upstairs and have opened up the downstairs garden level to guests. As with any lower level space, the ceiling is not completely sound-proof, so you are able to make out some footsteps and muffled activity from above during the day. During the night, the space is tranquil and offers a peaceful sleep. The second house is occupied full-time by an amazing tenant who is very quiet and respectful.

Our family includes a nine pound bundle of fur and love, who you may see or hear from time to time! There also is a sweet, middle-aged dog who resides in the second house, who you may see in the yard every once in a while.

The guest suite is perfect for one person, but can accommodate a maximum of two.

The bed in the suite is queen-sized, and has a very soft, comfortable mattress topper on it. If you prefer a firm mattress, this may not be the right fit. If you enjoy a soft sleep, this bed is for you!

For your entertainment, there is a 42” Smart TV, which includes Roku and Live TV. We are pleased to provide fiber optic high speed internet for your use. You are welcome to log into any of your own personal apps to use during your stay.

The 3/4 bath provides the basics, including a toilet, vanity with storage, and a cozy, modern tiled shower.

The suite kitchenette is perfect for your light, on-the-go cooking needs, and includes a refrigerator, combination microwave/convection oven, two-burner hot plate, toaster, and Keurig for your morning coffee. A small supply of glasses, coffee mugs, plates, bowls, utensils, pots, and pans round out the kitchen accommodations.

Originally built to be the Boone National Bank, this six story building has been home to not only one of the few banks in the country allowed to print their own money, but also 100 years of professional people, offices, lodges and organizations. It currently houses 24 apartments on the upper 5 floors and the owners/managers on the ground floor.

Shops, restaurants, groceries, post office and banks all within a few blocks. The city does not allow overnight parking on the street but free public parking is available about a block away.

Other things to note
Sorry, this building is just not pet friendly. To take an animal outside means sharing common halls, stairs, laundry and elevator with other residents. Once you get out of the building, there is no place to for an animal to defecate except on the street. We encourage you to find accommodations that welcome your animal. Additionally, it is against Iowa law to attempt to pass a pet off as an ESA or service animal. We, and all those suffering from allergies appreciate you consideration.

Our place is a cozy hideaway on the second floor of a historic building in downtown Story City. It is a sweet little town to relax in that is an easy 15-minute drive to Ames and all its amenities. The studio apartment has just been renovated into a Scandinavian-themed sanctuary. The living room has a fold-out couch that sleeps two, a smart TV, and a kitchenette. The bedroom has a very comfy queen-sized bed and the 3/4 bath has all you need to get away in comfort. Free parking is right outside.

The space
Story City has a long Scandinavian history (as do we) and we let that guide the feeling here. Scandinavian tapestries, vintage local photos, and Nordic furniture make this a cozy place. One of us is an amazing woodworker and built the bedframe using an old door from the antique store that was on the main level. The bathroom used to be the kitchen of this apartment but you'll find it an efficient and clean place to get ready for your night out or visit with loved ones. The exposed brick wall in the bedroom adds lots of character to the space - as does the vintage archway between the living room and bedroom.

You have the whole apartment! There is another AirBnB next door that shares the same entrance from the street and stairs up. This is an old main street building which means the ceilings are high and each floor is high – therefore, there are more steps than a more modern building. That's the small price for a lot of charm!

Our building is old, circa 1915. Staying in the Goeppinger Building is an experience in itself with the history of the building, the old terrazzo floors, Florentine Art Glass windows, real “wood” woodwork and marble inlays. Anyone who enjoys historic architecture will enjoy our unique building. The suite is done in serene tones of gray. It has huge windows overlooking the Burlington Northern Railroad and north Story Street. Close to the Boone and Scenic Railroad, Rail Explorers enjoy staying in our location.

If you enjoy old architecture, vintage and antique furnishings and are able to climb the staircases, you will love our place. If you are looking for something shiny and new and without stairs, we recommend the hotels in town that can better accommodate you.

Unique? Yes! Our property stands out from the rest because each suite has a different theme and it's own personality. The Victorian Suite is....well, Victorian-like, with chandeliers, a canopy bed and a fireplace mantle. The Rock 'n Roll Suite is filled with rock and roll memorabilia and art. The Serenity Suite is done in calming, cool colors and provides an atmosphere of peacefulness. The Retro Suite is "retro everything" from the retro Murphy bed to the chrome table and chair, to the retro 1950's memorabilia. Whatever your mood-whatever your preference in lodging, we can meet your needs, based on availability.There are so many things to do right here in Boone: Rail Explorers is a preferred partner of ours for exciting things to do in Boone. Within walking distance are several restaurants, boutiques and antique and collectibles shops. Boone has a nice brewery, great museums, a well stocked library and beautiful city parks. The grocery store is about a block east of the building. It is not possible to park on 9th Street for more than two hours. But, there are two FREE municipal parking lots, 1/2 block from the building. One is 1/2 block West, behind the Chamber of Commerce building. The other is 1/2 block East and 1/2 block South of the building on Allen Street. You can park in front of the building for unloading and loading, but it is then advised to move your vehicle to a FREE parking lot.Boone is a RAILROAD town with over a century of RAILROAD HISTORY. If you like trains and the history of trains, as we do, you will enjoy staying across the street from the Union Pacific Railroad Station, being able to look out the window of your suite to see trains coming and going and the close proximity of the Boone and Scenic Valley Railroad. If you don't like trains, or the sound of trains, white noise machines are available. If you want or need one, just ask your host to include one in the suite.
