The apartment is in the attic of an old, Victorian home which has been recently updated. You will have a private entrance, please know you will have to climb 2 flights of stairs for access. The stay includes 2 parking spaces, there is also a parking ramp 1 block way for additional cars. I live in the house, so please be considerate with the festivities.

Come visit this lovely and fully equipped loft apartment. It is right on the edge of town with beautiful countryside views, and just a few miles away from everything Iowa City has to offer. The University Hospital, Kinnick Stadium, and downtown Iowa City are all a quick drive, bike ride, or free bus ride away (the bus stop is a 2 minute walk). We are about a 25 minute drive from CID airport.

The apartment includes a kitchenette with full-sized fridge, sink, toaster oven, water kettle, and hot plate. Enjoy meals or sunsets from the deck, and pick fresh veggies from the large garden in the summer. Hosts Anthony and Sarah live right next door. We love to meet people from all around the world, but also offer privacy and a chance for a quiet get-away. The loft sits over our garage, which is a stand-alone building, so you won’t need to worry about excess noise from us or the neighbors. You will be able to hear the garage door open and close, but this will only happen during reasonable hours.

There is free and easy parking in the large driveway, internet, smart TV, and central air/heat. There is a queen bed, twin trundle bed, large couch, and air mattress to comfortably fit several adults. Everything you need for a quiet escape or a place to relax while working in or visiting Iowa City.

You have access to your private loft and deck, as well as use of the yard. Please ask us if you would like to use the fire pit, grill, or garage.

This property is not ADA accessible. The entrance to the loft requires guests to navigate stairs to a second-story deck.

Other things to note
We have a lovable dog named Carver, who is a German Shepherd/Lab mix. He is very sweet and friendly, but he does have some puppy tendencies. He is not allowed in your loft, but you may run into him in the yard. He will be so excited to meet you! There is a gate at the top of the deck that you can use to keep him out of your private outdoor space.

As we are on the edge of Iowa farm-land, we have several critters that share our yard space. Asian lady beetles (looks like ladybugs) and stink bugs often come into structures to escape the cold during the fall and winter seasons. While we have pest control servicing, you may still encounter them during your stay (especially when they emerge in the fall and spring). They are harmless, but the best thing to do is sweep up or vacuum up these critters and dispose of them outside. Please do not spray pesticides, as they are harmful to humans and pets. Smushing the bugs, however tempting, will only attract more, so better to avoid the urge.
