Come visit this lovely and fully equipped loft apartment. It is right on the edge of town with beautiful countryside views, and just a few miles away from everything Iowa City has to offer. The University Hospital, Kinnick Stadium, and downtown Iowa City are all a quick drive, bike ride, or free bus ride away (the bus stop is a 2 minute walk). We are about a 25 minute drive from CID airport.

The apartment includes a kitchenette with full-sized fridge, sink, toaster oven, water kettle, and hot plate. Enjoy meals or sunsets from the deck, and pick fresh veggies from the large garden in the summer. Hosts Anthony and Sarah live right next door. We love to meet people from all around the world, but also offer privacy and a chance for a quiet get-away. The loft sits over our garage, which is a stand-alone building, so you won’t need to worry about excess noise from us or the neighbors. You will be able to hear the garage door open and close, but this will only happen during reasonable hours.

There is free and easy parking in the large driveway, internet, smart TV, and central air/heat. There is a queen bed, twin trundle bed, large couch, and air mattress to comfortably fit several adults. Everything you need for a quiet escape or a place to relax while working in or visiting Iowa City.

Other things to note
We have a lovable dog named Carver, who is a German Shepherd/Lab mix. He is very sweet and friendly, but he does have some puppy tendencies. He is not allowed in your loft, but you may run into him in the yard. He will be so excited to meet you! There is a gate at the top of the deck that you can use to keep him out of your private outdoor space.

As we are on the edge of Iowa farm-land, we have several critters that share our yard space. Asian lady beetles (looks like ladybugs) and stink bugs often come into structures to escape the cold during the fall and winter seasons. While we have pest control servicing, you may still encounter them during your stay (especially when they emerge in the fall and spring). They are harmless, but the best thing to do is sweep up or vacuum up these critters and dispose of them outside. Please do not spray pesticides, as they are harmful to humans and pets. Smushing the bugs, however tempting, will only attract more, so better to avoid the urge.

The kitchenette contains a full sized refrigerator with freezer, keurig coffee maker, microwave, hot plate, large toaster oven, basic cooking utensils and tableware. THERE IS NOT A FULL KITCHEN IN THIS RENTAL AND DISHES ARE TO BE WASHED IN EITHER BATHROOM SINK.

There is a bathroom in the hallway with a sink and toilet. If you open the pocket door, there's a shower/tub combo in a room by itself, that connects to the master bedroom and is a Jack and Jill set up.
There are a couple of closets in the hallway. One is mostly cleaning supplies and the other has lots of board games, extra bedding and other guest related items stored.

Guest access
Guests have access to the main floor and private balcony. They can access the entire main floor except one bedroom(private to hosts).
The hosts live on the lower level full-time and have dogs. To avoid any unnecessary issues, we generally do not allow our dog to interact with guests and we stay in our living quarters and only enter the guest area for maintenance (if necessary) or special requests.
The lower level is off limits to guest, unless given special permission.

Please ask permission if bringing more than 2 vehicles.
Laundry can be arranged with host (if present during stay), up to 2 personal loads per week.
We are located just outside the Iowa City limits. Therefore we have well-water. It is well managed and safe. We have a water softener. During heavy storms, we may lose power and could take longer to come back on than living in the city. Our street is not plowed unless there is more than 2" of snow.
We are in a neighborhood with an HOA and it is very important to us to keep a good relationship with them and our neighbors. We do not allow parties or events and we live on the property full time.
We are pet friendly and there is a $20 pet fee (non-refundable) for the trip. You must add the pet(s) to your booking. If you are found having a pet and do not add them to the reservation, the pet fee will be $50.

The railings on the deck are a little wobbly. DO NOT LEAN OR SIT ON THE RAILING.
