Catskills Cutie in the heart Bethel Woods village Forest Reserve in the hamlet of Smallwood. 5.5 miles from the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts music venue where Woodstock took place in 1969. You’ll find hiking, biking trails, waterfalls, 4 lakes, 2 large fenced in dog fields for small and large dogs, plenty of spots to sit back and have a picnic. I’ve put a lot of love into this cabin and will continue to add to that. It’s very beautiful and peaceful here. Stay awhile.
The space
My cabin is small in stature but big in personality and the best use of a small space. It is a big open living space that is kitchen, living room and bedroom with a queen bed. I have a smaller bedroom with bunk beds that has a heavy curtain for privacy. Small bathroom shower only. There is a four season back porch which accommodates the dining area, writing/music area and a large twin daybed for another sleeping area. There is a large deck out front with a picnic table, BBQ grill, Adirondack rocking chairs and string lights. There is a fire pit in the backyard with 4 bright red modern Adirondack chairs, another BBQ grill and string lights. The backyard is quite large, it goes out to the main road in the neighborhood. You’re in walking distance to the neighborhood waterfalls, hiking trails, lake and fenced in dog parks. I have pretty much anything you would need regarding kitchen items. My place can accommodate 4 people if you don’t mind not having privacy as there is a queen bed, bunk bed, large twin daybed and a couch. 2 adults only for privacy loving folks. For a family I would say it’s fine for 2 adults and 2-3 small children.

History: My cabin was built in 1937. When I bought it a year ago, June 2023, it looked nothing like what you will see today but I saw the potential. I have tried to maximize the use of a small space making it a welcoming haven for guests and myself to have a getaway.

In America a red front door holds the historical significance of meaning people are welcome at the homes that host a painted door. Travellers were welcome to rest and have a meal.

*Note: There are cameras on the outside of the cabin front & back. They came with the place when I bought it. They are not in use & won’t ever be while I am a host. I do have Ring cameras on the front and back doors for security.

Coffee ☕️ you like it? I love it. I have a pour over Chemex with natural filters, French press, espresso machine, 12 cup coffeemaker, Keurig one cup with pods, bean grinder, milk frother, cinnamon. There are a few types of coffee beans at the moment but feel free to bring your favorite beans. 🫘 The best way to enjoy is on the deck, kicked back listening to nature and taking it all in, in my opinion.

Neighborhood stuff:
Bethel Dog Park located 6 blocks away from my cabin at: 50 Golf Park Rd. You can walk or drive there and park. You will find 2 fenced in dog parks, a walking/running/biking trail and an outdoor workout gym. The hiking trail is to the left of the dog park entrance.

Bethel Forest Reserve:
The waterfalls you see in some of my photos are located at the corner of Mt Lakes Rd and Mohican Trail. There are hiking trails there as well.

Bethel Woods Center for the Arts music venue: Located at 200 Hurd Rd, Bethel NY where Woodstock took place in 1969. It’s exactly 10 minutes or 5.5 miles away from my cabin. There is a Woodstock museum there as well as concerts, tours of the grounds, a documentary film narrated about Woodstock and a groovy love bus.

Two-story cottage perched on a hill overlooking Mountain Lake in the hamlet of Smallwood, town of Bethel. Reclaimed wood throughout this new custom home with modern-rustic charm and top-notch amenities. Come relax and enjoy the picturesque view.

The house is perched on a hill among the trees overlooking Mountain Lake in Smallwood. Stone stairs from the drive wind down to the yard and front door. The first floor consists of the kitchen, dining room, half bath and living room with floor to ceiling windows looking out over the lake. Both the kitchen and bathroom have radiant heated flooring, a toasty treat during the fall and winter months. The kitchen is well stocked with all cooking necessities and features stainless appliances including a convection oven, microwave, and dishwasher. The living room opens onto the deck that faces west and is the best spot to take in the sun setting over the lake.

The centerpiece of the first floor is the sun drenched staircase made of reclaimed wood. All of the trim within the house is reclaimed lumber from the original summer cottage on the property. The cottage proved too far gone to save but was deconstructed board by board and given a new life inside.

Upstairs is the full bathroom also with radiant heated flooring and a skylight, two large bedrooms, and laundry room . Each bedroom has a queen sized bed and space to sneak away with a good book or tablet for those who can’t unplug - no judgment - we had WiFi before running water.

This is the last house on a dead end road so there is zero traffic. The property is heavily wooded and very quiet. The abundant trees make for excellent bird watching. We have spotted eagles, three species of wood peckers, hummingbirds, ducks, and geese.

At the moment, I think we are the only rental house in Smallwood that has a true EV charging station. It's a 240 volt charger at the top of the stone stairs at the parking spot.

The house is best for one or two couples. All sheets towels, blankets, and pillows, are provided as well as a HE washer and dryer.

The lake below our house is a private lake for members only. Our preferred swimming spots are the Toronto Reservoir and Lake Superior, both about 3 miles from the house.

Guests have full access to the house.

We are available by phone and email during the stay. This is our weekend home. We live in downtown Brooklyn.

We front Mountain Lake in the hamlet of Smallwood, township of Bethel. There is a sweet little water fall and forest reserve just a short walk from the house. We are also near to Bethel Woods, Kiamesha Lake and the surrounding Catskills villages.

A bus comes direct from Port Authority in Manhattan to the bus terminal in Monticello. It's about 8 miles to the house and there are usually taxi cabs at the station when you arrive. We recommend coming with a car, however.

Renting a 2 bedroom unit with living room and bathroom with a shower. The unit doesn’t have a kitchen however it has a sink, microwave, refrigerator and keurig as seen in the pics as well as a bbq. All rooms have TVs with local channels. The unit is just minutes from Bethel Woods and The Catskill whisky distillery/ Restaurant also 8 minutes to beautiful lakefront restaurants. Monticello raceway is 15 minutes away as well as the New Resorts World Casino 20 minutes away. Please reach with questions!

A short 20min drive to where our family would be gathering. Comfortable, clean, cozy! Shows as listed. Host was extremely timely & pleasant to communicate with. Our only wish would be extra pillows & a little larger fridge (maybe apartment size), for food/freezer purposes; we bought a small cooler for ice bags & water to get us through, however had to leave it behind. White lake Bethel NY, 2 miles from Bethel Woods. Sit on the dock and enjoy the day. Cook your meals by lake and enjoy your Wine Or sit on the porch and listen to the juke box while sipping your drink and watch everyone swimming. Free pontoon boat ride. The fishing right off the dock is excellent. .

- "The property was close to area attractions and is right on the lake. Fishing was great." - "We're avid kayakers with two large dogs (Briards) and this house was very convenient for launching our boats and getting the dogs in and out for a swim in the beautiful lake off its really nice dock. It's also a short drive to the boat launch are at the wonderful Basha Wildlife Refuge and its 3,000 acre wetland where Painted Turtles bask everywhere and Bald Eagles almost seem to pose for pics as you kayak by. The Neversink Gorge trailhead was also a short drive with miles of hiking trails (be sure to stop at Mullet Brook Falls, an absolutely beautiful site!!!). Garter snakes and toads were observed along the trail and frogs and butterflies were observed down at the river (near Denton Falls). The beds were comfortable and the shower was great (plenty of hot water with far better pressure than houses we've rented in the past). The porch, which overlooks the lake, was the perfect place to unwind and have a relaxing dinner (if you bring your own charcoal grills like we do for dietary reasons, make sure to set them up on the gravel driveway in front of the house rather than out the back door where the neighbor up the hill and across the street behind the house will fear you'll start a forest fire). The juke box, with its speakers on the porch, was stocked with tons of CDs to choose from from every genre. The adjacent neighbors and those we met walking our dogs along the road were all friendly."

Welcome to the Lennon Cabin in the foot of the Catskills. Located in the hamlet of Smallwood in Bethel, NY. Home to the Wood Stock of 1969, Bethel has so much to enjoy! We are located 10 minutes from the Bethel Center of the Arts where you can enjoy one of their many concerts, 10 minutes from Lake Superior State park, White Lake (5min) and the Toronto Reservoir (5min) for lake swimming, kayaking, fishing and other water activities.
In our private Hamlet our house is walking distance to our community Lake where you can take morning strolls, bike rides or sit by the doc. We also have our own reservoir trail that you can walk to from the house in addition to a dog park and children's play ground. 5 minutes away is the Alton Distillery located on beautiful grounds where you can enjoy their small batch Whiskey or a curated cocktail. 30 minutes away is the Catksill brewery and various downtowns with eclectic water front dining. We are 20 minutes from Kartrite indoor water park and close to many Alpaca farms as well as horseback riding. Come see all that the Lennon cabin has to offer.

While there is so much to do in the area, sometimes a stay-cation is what we all really need. Enjoy our cozy cabin, perfect for a couples retreat or small family getaway. Equipped with two comfortable queen size beds, a full kitchen, multiple smart tv's and board games for a relaxing indoor getaway. The expansive outdoor deck has a covered hot tub, grill, fire pit and multiple seating areas to lounge. Grab a good book and lounge with a glass of wine or complimentary Nespresso in any part of the cozy cabin!

- "There’s a few things that I must emphasize that made the Lennon cabin a great experience. We stayed there to celebrate my daughter’s first birthday, as a family. The house was great, comfy, clean and cool. Firstly ,the nespresso machine made me feel rich and the coffee was amazing! The hot tub was definitely a bonus and we watched the playoffs while relaxing. We brought some steaks and were able to use the grill (on the beautiful back deck) but the local food was good too. Kev’s bbq (5 min away) was delicious! The location made it easy to get around- The first stop was Buck Brook Farms (a petting farm/about 30 min drive/$10 pp ) so my baby could meet llamas and a bunch of other farm animals. Then we stopped by the Woodstock museum, which was about a 10 minute drive. They have weekly concerts in the summer! White lake was about 5 min away and very Serene. To finish our adventure we rented bikes at fortress bike and did a 10 mile trail ($20 for 2 hours pp and about 25 min drive away). Dollar store was also 5 away to get a few snacks and a few things we forgot. The house was clean and had a minimalist , eclectic vibe. We were greeted with a birthday banner hung by Amanda ,the host, which totally melted my heart. The cabin was family/baby friendly but could be booked for a couple get away as well. Grill outside on the gas BBQ. Sit by the fire pit (wood bin is stocked, just gather some kindling from the woods), roast marshmallows and tell ghost stories, while listening to the owls hooting in the woods.

Explore the property to find large rock formations and a seasonal flowing spring. Flower gardens and woodlands surround the cabin. Perennial flowers bring pollinators, butterflies, and hummingbirds. You'll find bird houses scattered throughout the property. You may see deer, turkey, ground hogs (aka whistle pigs), fox and pileated woodpeckers around the property and beavers, turtles and water fowl in the ponds.
