An outstanding detached cottage in a private walled garden on the banks of the River Clashawley. Sitting in the grounds of a fine country house on a delightful estate beside the small historic town of Fethard.
The cottage style Interiors are beautiful with exposed beams, wooden floors and French doors leading out onto the garden. A lovely place to switch off and relax with plenty of room for children to let off steam.
This lovely holiday home is close to amenities with shops, pubs, a restaurant and a deli within a couple of miles. Perfect for popping out for lunch or picking up some picnic goodies from the deli. This is Ireland’s ‘Ancient East’, a beautiful place to explore. Step back in time and discover this charming town with its medieval ruins, a 14th century town wall and a heritage walking trail. Fethard is well known for its links with horse racing and the new interactive Horse Country Experience museum is well worth a visit. This state of the art exhibition is a must see for horse lovers, sited in a 17th Century building it explains the role the horse has played in the culture of Ireland stepping back some 2000 years.
There are plenty of activities within easy reach. Golfers should head to the 18 hole golf course nearby, hike the foothills of Slievenamon mountain which rises to 2365 ft, both are 1.9 miles away. Back on the estate there are stables offering horse and pony trekking, you can even take your own horse and rent a stable for the duration of your holiday! This is a great base for walking, running and cycling or kayaking on the river. The perfect dog friendly bolthole.

In 2009 myself and Michael refurbished my family home with soft carpets curtains and paint. All rooms are decorated with furniture my siblings generously left and all bedrooms have old Antique beds with top quality mattresses pillows and bed linen. While my family no longer live here it has not lost that warm experience on every level for guests who have stayed here. Clonacody has been a welcome retreat from the hustle and stress of daily life for many and foe others it has been hired out exclusively for special occasions - weddings, christenings, funerals and family/friends reunions. Outside catering can be organised for those who wish. Clonacody also has been used for Holistic and corporate workshops with the grounds and in particular our recently restored walled garden being enjoyed for quiet meditation and outdoor fun activities. We also have the newly upgraded Slievenamon Golf Course on our door step. Chauffeur car or van available to take guests to local attractions and day trip excursions can be planned with picnic to nearby river Shannon or the sunny south east where there are a choice of stunning unspoilt beaches and Cliff walks. We are blessed to have mountains ideal for those who wish to hike and suitable for all levels.
