We had a balcony to ourselves and ample space for the 2 of us. However, when it came to dinner time, the restaurant on site was CLOSED. We looked up numerous "nearby" places but none would deliver due to the resort either being too far away or closed for christmas holiday.NO FOOD DELIVERY available to this resort! We called reception who was very nice and gave us the gate number to allow any deliveries in however it was fruitless as nothing was available nearby. We also had an issue with the AC but the receptionist was very helpful and came immediately to help us out. Hubby and I ending up eating from the breakfast basket for dinner. This basket was provided to us at check in (around 3pm the day before). This could be due to the christmas holiday but make sure to see if the on site restaurant is available before you go or you will lack any dining experiences from being at this resort. I wish i had packed food from home or gotten it otw to the resort to store in the fridge. Overall a well recommended place & a would stay again!"

California Dreamin', our HOME, is a contemporary 3 bed/3 bath lodge-like house able to easily accommodate a maximum of 8 guests. Guests have EXCLUSIVE access to the entire resort property - 2,500 sq.ft. house, 3/4 acre garden and grounds, salt water pool, spa, firepit, yard and bowls court. It's ALL yours!

The house is spacious yet comfortable, with plenty of natural light. It is tastefully furnished, boasts a large gourmet kitchen, Smart TVs and a natural gas fireplace in the living room. We have beautiful mountain and sunset views, and are in a prime space for stargazing as the neighborhood is very void of light pollution. The home is just blocks from Lake Hodges, where you can enjoy hiking, mountain biking, fishing, bird watching, and picnicking.

All bedrooms have their own bathrooms. We provide luxurious bamboo bedding for a refreshing night of sleep. The master suite is extremely spacious with vaulted ceilings, a chaise lounge, a large walk-in closet, an ensuite bathroom with an over-sized soaking tub, and an additional, separated side office room. It also has its own door to the outdoors.

There is on-site parking for at least 6 cars.

We are close to Lake Hodges, the San Diego Zoo's Safari Park, and a scenic 20 minute drive to the coast. We are just 30 minutes from downtown San Diego and the airport. We transformed it into the contemporary home we envisioned when we bought the property in 1993, yet it maintains the charm of a home well lived in and loved! Despite being in a semi-desert locale, we created an oasis - nestled among a colorful, mature, natural and green habitat. The "back 40" is a fun place for the kids to explore, grab an orange, or say hello to the neighbor's horses!

Taylor is our California Dreamin' property manager and she lives in the front Guest House. She will welcome you to the property and show you the in's and out's when you arrive. Taylor is a very quiet professional and aside from checking you in and out, has minimal contact with guests.. She has her own parking space, separate access to the Guest House and her own private outdoor area. She does not have any access to the pool, spa, firepit, bbq, lawn bowls, etc. while you’re at the property.

This 2 bedroom apartment has two queen beds, a full kitchen and laundry. With mbeautiful views all around, it is very close to the San Diego Safari Park, wine tasting (walking distance to 4 wineries) and several wedding venues. You’ll love the privacy and spaciousness, the fresh fruit and farm animals, and the tranquility of the place, while being only 4.5 miles off the freeway. This space is excellent for couples, business travelers, small groups, solo adventurers, and families.

The space:
The apartment is on the other side of the garages as the main house so you have plenty of privacy. There are two separate bedrooms, each with a very comfortable queen bed. A full-size bathroom is not attached to either bedroom so is easily accessed by both bedrooms without inconveniencing anyone. You have a full kitchen with a sit up bar as well as a separate dining area. The living area has two sofas, one of which pulls out into a double bed. The washer/dryer allow longer-term guests to do their laundry. Also, there is a very spacious outdoor patio for relaxing in the sunshine or star-gazing and enjoying the serenity at night. The high-end craftsmanship is noticeable and the house is newly built.

Guest access:
You have the entire apartment to yourself. We live in the main house full-time so we are on hand for anything you might need during your stay but stay out of your way if that is your preference.

Other things to note:
There is also a new and adorable tiny house on the property listed separately on VRBO. If you have a larger group, or family/friends who would like to stay nearby (about 100 steps away), this is a great option to expand your group size but still have your privacy and separate space!

Following the instructions, we had no issues finding the rental. It was quiet and comfortable. We had a small issue with the WiFi but after checking the in-house manual the correct password was inside. Two small things that would have made it better. 1. Powdered coffee creamer. Sugar and sugar alternatives were provided but no creamer. 2. There were no hooks on the back of any of the doors or on the walls in the bathroom to hang towels to dry. Both items were minor and did not impact our stay dramatically. We would book again if we needed to be in the area for anything. Take note that there is nothing really located in close proximity to the rental. Make sure you hit up a grocery store or anything else before you get there. If you don't you will have about a 15-minute drive to get to a grocery store"

They are doing an extensive addition to the home that was in the back yard, so we were a little cautious when the children were outside playing so that they wouldn't get hurt. The loop has about 15 adobe homes located in a wooded rural setting. This loop is an excellent 1 mile hike around and hilly so it’s challenging enough for the one who wants to get a workout but scenic for an easy walk for you and the dog.

The walk is beautiful and dogs will love it. You will enjoy peacefully sitting on your front porch enjoying the views and birds, ducks flying by and hummingbirds pollinating the flowers plus an occasional Crane visit.

The space
This brand-new tiny home, built in 2025, seamlessly blends modern comfort with thoughtful design. It's fully insulated and equipped with a mini-split system for year-round heating and cooling, making it the perfect cozy retreat. The bedroom area features a queen-sized Murphy bed that easily folds up, transforming the space into a charming living area with two benches. Relax and unwind with Netflix on the TV.

This home is designed for long-term stays and is fully equipped for comfort. The kitchen boasts a stovetop, oven, full-size fridge, sink, drawer dishwasher, and all the essentials for cooking and dining, along with shared spices for your convenience. Your stay also includes bottled water, coffee, tea, and a few munchies.

For added convenience, a stackable washer and dryer are provided in the unit.

Enjoy complete privacy and comfort with all windows' top-down/bottom-up blackout shades. The two windows facing our home have a beautiful film that lets in rainbow light while providing full privacy.

The bathroom is stocked with soft towels, salon-quality shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion. A shower and full-size tub also invite you to relax and unwind.

In the evening, gather around the fire pit (heat only, no cooking) and enjoy a peaceful evening under the stars, surrounded by the glow of solar lanterns.

Our beautiful shade garden, nourished by a grey-water system from the washer and shower, thrives with high-quality biodegradable detergent and products. If you prefer to use your items, please let us know in advance so we can adjust the system accordingly.

Our property is accessed through a large manual gate. It will be open when you arrive, but please close it when you're away.

The bed is a Murphy bed that’s easy to lower and raise. If you'd prefer the bed to be ready upon arrival, just let us know in advance. When the bed is folded up, the comforter may not look as neat as it does in the photos, but rest assured, it remains incredibly comfortable. The bed pillows are in the first cabinet on the lower left.

Lastly, our cabinets are tall! We’ve placed frequently used items on the lower shelves, and a step stool is conveniently located next to the fridge for easier access.

The Property and Parking:
Guests staying here would have to like staying in a quiet, clean, non-smoking house and property in a serene up-scale ranch neighborhood. The furniture in the apartment is a nice combination of West Elm, some antiques, and some custom furniture I designed and had made in Costa Rica . The property is walled, gated, and private. There is a large driveway with plenty of parking. There is also a Sprinter Van parking spot in the vineyard in order for guests to park their Sprinter Vans. There is RV electric and water hookups.

Location:
The hacienda is 2 minutes right off of Exit 37 off of the 15 and close to a lot of things - Carlsbad and Oceanside Beaches, Del Mar, La Jolla, and Encinitas, Wine Tasting, Potato Chip Rock, and Hiking Trails. Almost everything is about 25 minutes away.

Encinitas, Del Mar, Solana Beach, and Carlsbad Beach are all an easy 20-25 minute drive. Within 10 miles are a lot of wineries. San Diego is just 35 minutes south.

There is a washer and dryer in the garage to which you have access.

Tuscan Garden:
You have your own private Tuscan Garden with a beautiful stone seating wall and a custom built outdoor fireplace. There is a teak table with chairs and umbrella, a babbling brook, a water fountain, all under the oak grove with Spanish moss blowing in the breeze, overlooking olive trees. At night the beauty is joined by low voltage landscape lights throughout as well as ambient string lights above. It is incomparable to anything else!

About Me:
I am a really fun, yet quiet, professional male. I work a lot and travel a lot. When I am home in the main house I like working on the olive ranch or in the vineyard, chilling on the veranda, drinking wine, going to the beach, and making dinners using the organic food grown on the land.

Our home features an open concept with new appliances, flooring, countertops, windows, cabinets, and furniture. The unit has it's own private entrance and direct access to the pool and hot tub.

Rooms:
Master bedroom (Queen Bed) with a jack and jill bathroom with direct access to open living space that includes an added mini fridge for convenience. The guest bedroom (Queen Bed) also has its own bathroom and has a rain shower. The kitchen is easily accessible by both bedrooms and both have direct access to the pool.

Backyard:
Our backyard features an oversized pool with a hot tub. Unlike most pools, our swimming pool is heated, making it perfect for sunset swims during summer. The patio deck offers an outdoor l-shaped couch along with a swinging egg chair sofa and a gas fire pit.
You'll have private access to the entire unit and shared access to the backyard, pool, and hot but, but no access to the garage. Plenty of parking in the driveway. No overnight guests are allowed aside from the number of individuals indicated in the original booking request.

Hot Tub / Jacuzzi:
Hot tub fees are $40/hour. Hot Tub is controlled remotely so booking/scheduling hot tub usage in advance is required.

Other things to note:
Unlike most pools, our pool is heated, however, please understand that it does not mean the water will be warm all the time as it is still dependent on how much sun the solar panels are getting.

**Our home is located in a quiet neighbor so it's important to note that quiet time is from 10pm-8am. There will be no loud music. Please no events or parties on the property - No Exceptions.**

The area is quiet, clean and safe to park in the driveway or in the front. Guests are NOT allow to use the swimming pool, or laundry room. Pets are not allowed at no time even if they are emotional support pets or service dogs, I have tenants who are allergic to pets. ROOM ONLY FOR 1 PERSON. Kitchen is NOW OPEN FOR GUESTS!

The space
My space is a very quiet and private place, and over all very clean. I do ask all my guests to be mindful and respectful with others by not slamming the doors, or not talking too loud on the phone specially during quiet hours. I would greatly appreciate if you had to work from home to let me know in advance since this has become an issue for other guests who work at night, and they need to get their sleep during the day. Please note, there are 3 other rooms in the house hosting Airbnb guests. Smokers are allowed to smoke only outside in the front yard or out in the sidewalk, (this include vaping). Guests will not use any other area in the house. No laundry room access for all guests and no pool access.

Guest access
Guests will only use their room, private bathroom and the kitchen. If you are a smoker you are welcome to smoke in the front of the house and can use the chairs and ashtray provided outside. Guest are not allow to bring FANS, HEATERS since I provide AC and heat the time as needed.

Other things to note
There are 2 rooms that are rented to my friends for undetermined time. Both are very respectful and trustful individuals. Both of are allergic to cats, dogs, and other animals.
Parking spots open in the driveway are for first come first serve.

Aloha! Our beautiful single story home which is less than a 5 minute drive from Palomar Hospital, Interstate 15, and the 78 Freeway in a small private development of semi custom homes. Within 20 minutes you can be at the PACIFIC OCEAN, LEGOLAND(west) SD SAFARI PARK (east), SD ZOO (south), and the Temecula wine country (north). Cal state San Marcos, University of St Augustine for Health Sciences, and Palomar college are 2 freeway exits away.

We have a fire pit, charcoal BBQ, and a rear patio guests may use (please CHECK WITH US FIRST , if available).The ROOM itself has a queen bed , fresh linens, fresh towels, loaner bath robe(s), complimentary slippers, small desk/ chair, fan, heater, loaner beach bag( w/ beach towels & beach/mat), small ironing board, hangers, and extra blankets. We are both natives of the area, so we have a bit of a "locals' insight". We don't mind sharing some of our experiences of the area, if guests desire.

**There are NO KITCHEN privileges ; ie: NO Microwave, rinsing food ,dishes, washing, filling, cooking, heating, storing, meal prep, etc.(Do NOT ask )
**The guest bathroom is shared.

** This our home. Currently, we DO NOT ALLOW any KITCHEN privileges (DO NOT ask). We have had to endure some unfortunate experiences with previous guests in our kitchen. We have a fire pit, charcoal BBQ, and a rear patio guests may use (based upon and availability).
** The front " formal' areas are for our guests to eat (dining table) and lounge (living room).
** In the room, there is a TINY, TINY , tiny REFRIGERATOR (it's a tiny 6 pack fridge ). Each room may use the designated tiny cubby fridge to keep an item or two cool. Also, a first aid kit and Fire extinguisher is in this location. Please remove your shoes, we are an "Island style-REMOVE da'shoes" house. No shoes are to be worn inside the house.
** Booked ALOHA Retreat guests may park one vehicle in the driveway, on the RIGHT side, (in front of single car garage-not in the center ). If you have a vehicle that is low to the ground, BEWARE we have a "rolled" curb driveway approach, which has a steeper angle. So body panels, spoilers, air dams, mufflers, exhaust tips, etc. MAY BE AT RISK! please be advised on your ASCENDING or DESCENDING the driveway. Street parking is typically available. Trash pick up is on Monday's. We own a small Boxer, who has his own outdoor kennel space and dog run. We ask that the guests please DO NOT DISTURB him. We hope this is helpful. Do you happen to drink coffee? Just let us know. We can make extra, since we drink coffee in the morning. This our home. We would love to meet you. We live here and are typically just a phone call away.

We do have a washer and dryer you may use for a small fee. We are asking $2.50 USD cash per load (1 wash/dry= load).

Aloha! Our beautiful single story home which is less than a 5 minute drive from Palomar Hospital, Interstate 15, and the 78 Freeway in a small private development of semi custom homes. Within 20 minutes you can be at the PACIFIC OCEAN, LEGOLAND(west) SD SAFARI PARK (east), SD ZOO (south), and the Temecula wine country (north). Cal state San Marcos, University of St Augustine for Health Sciences, and Palomar college are 2 freeway exits away.
