- "Loved it!" - "We stayed at this property for our wedding weekend. We hosted 70 people on Friday night for our welcome party and 60 people on Sunday for the poolside brunch. The home is incredible and a perfect party house. Multiple refrigerators/freezers, a wet bar. The yard and view are insane, so much seating and areas for everyone to congregate. It looks just like the photos. The house was beautiful and clean, super comfy beds. We felt right at home and our guests were WOWED. Gabe was super rad, helpful and communicative. The location is just far enough outside the main area that you can party all night, but civilization is about 10-15 minutes away. All our guests stayed across the street at the Welk resort which was less than 5 mins away. If it was so sale, I would buy this house in a heartbeat - a total dream! Highly and we will definitely be back"

Our place is a very relaxing tranquil place to take in nature with amazing panoramic views. This is the perfect place to land after a fun filled day of sightseeing or just relaxing pool side. The Property sits on over an fully landscaped acre that backs up onto parkland which is part of the San Dieguito River park with miles of trails surrounding beautiful Lake Hodges. There is a Sonos music system throughout the home and outdoors with an endless music selection from Pandora or play your own music with a line-in to the system.

The home is full of custom touches as Lea is a interior designer and enjoyed working on all the details including sand-blasted floor etchings, widespread arches & niches along with custom furniture throughout including wall murals in the kitchen, dining room and one bedroom, faux-finished walls throughout, bringing a sense of warmth, peace & calm throughout. The custom kitchen has lofted beam ceiling with a large roof skylight. There is a 30 ft round entry turret entrance with a winding staircase to the second floor master suite, another bedroom & office with balcony . Nearly all ceilings are 10 ft or more and many are lofted with sand blasted beams.
There are great outdoor living spaces which include the covered patio with gas barbecue, sink, refrigerator, serving area, table and seating ,and wood fire pizza oven. A covered Lanai on the lakeside with hanging bench swing for watching birds in the water fountain & sunsets. Also down in the yard you will find a fire pit and another covered lanai viewing point. There is a courtyard living room with a fireplace & fountain, bird feeders surrounded by the entry turret, dining room with bi-fold doors, kitchen, and the art studio/guestroom, all is beautifully landscaped with lots of fruit trees for picking and just an overall peaceful zen experience with many places to just hang out in the great outdoors.

Best of all, the home was designed to capture the magnificent views of Lake Hodges, wildlife and foothills beyond. The kitchen, the family room, the living room, the master suite and deck, the office, two other bedrooms, and the patio all capture the views. The home sits on a quiet cul de sac and the neighborhood is great for walking or running.

- "This was the perfect place to celebrate our 50th anniversary with our family. This large home was able to comfortably accommodate our family of nine. Every part of the home is beautifully decorated inside and out. Lea welcomed us personally with wine and charcuterie. She even put up some 50th anniversary decorations in honor of our special occasion. There is an outdoor kitchen adjacent to the infinity pool overlooking Lake Hodges. One of the highlights of our stay was enjoying pizzas cooked in the wood-fired pizza oven. Thank you for sharing your lovely home."

Just a few minutes' walk from the house is the beautiful Lake Hodges, perfect for boating, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, and fishing, with equipment rentals available on-site. Hernandez Hideaway, a well-known Mexican restaurant, is also nearby for an epic meal.

Hiking and mountain biking trails are abundant in the area. To the west, it's just a short drive to the beaches of Del Mar, where you can enjoy coffee shops, restaurants, surfing, and nightlife. To the east, within 5 to 10 minutes, you'll find a vibrant town with cafes, restaurants, a large shopping mall, and the San Diego Safari Park, just 15 minutes from the house. This central location provides easy access to all that San Diego has to offer.

Getting Around:
Uber usually arrives within about 5 minutes. We can also assist in arranging a rental vehicle delivery if needed. A public bus stop is within walking distance for those looking for more adventure.

Other Things to Note:
Upon booking, we will send you a full e-sign rental agreement, which must be completed within 24 hours along with a photo ID of the primary renter. All guests staying on the property must be listed along with their ages. For security purposes, there are several outdoor cameras on the property covering the gate, front entry, back doors, pool area, and garage. There are no cameras inside the home, and all outdoor cameras are positioned to protect guest privacy.

This home will be stocked with bath towels, a hairdryer and iron, and hotel-style shampoo, conditioner and body wash. If you need anything additional during your stay, please feel free to reach out!

Please be aware that the pool is left unheated, but can be heated for an additional daily fee. We will need you to reach out to us at least 24 hours before your stay begins so we can begin the process. There is a $200/day fee for heating the pool. Heating the pool can only be done remotely by us so please be sure to reach out if you are expecting a heated pool.

- "Beautiful home. Large and great for groups or families. Really the views are what makes this home so incredible. The manager is great and answered all our questions almost immediately. Some small things were a little annoying (internet needed to be reset a few times, not enough pool towels provided) But nothing big and overall we had a great stay. Perfect for cooking at home with two fridges, bbq grill, plenty of appliances. Pool was fun with great waterfall feature. This is actually the second time we’ve stayed at this home and enjoyed our stay both times. Lots of space to spread out so you never feel cramped even when traveling with a large group. Costco, Trader Joe’s and other grocery stores in close proximity too. Great home."

- "We've stayed in a lot of rental homes while on vacation and this was one of our favorites. It was spacious and clean, with hands down, the best stocked kitchen I've seen in a rental. There were plenty of towels, extra bedding if needed and the washer and dryer came in handy after spending all day in the pool. The view from the property was incredible and it felt very private the way everything was laid out. Drinking coffee outside in the morning, watching the quail and the sunbathing lizards, all with a beautiful view of the lake was just the recharge we needed. We stayed with our adult children, their partners and our grandsons. Everyone enjoyed it. The beautiful nearby town of San Marcos was a quick trip for ice cream with the grands and a date night for their parents. I've already recommended this beautiful home to my friend for her annual sisters getaway. We look forward to getting back soon ourselves."

Nestled within our picturesque 5-acre estate, Villa Tuscano is located just above the winery’s tasting room, which is open to the public on Fridays from 4:00-7:00 PM, and Saturdays and Sundays from 2:00-7:00 PM. With breathtaking vineyard views that evoke the charm of Italy, the villa provides a serene and luxurious retreat.

The Hilltop Hacienda is a unique home where you and your family can relax in the saltwater pool, soak in the Jacuzzi while gazing at the stars shining over Palomar Mountain, and dine al fresco while taking in stunning 360° views. Whether you are looking for a romantic couple’s getaway or a sun-soaked vacation in a spacious and comfortable home, this 3,980 SF villa on seven acres, can be your private oasis. The Hilltop Hacienda is located in a small gated community on the outskirts of Escondido. We the owners, are hobby winemakers and our vineyard has 180 Viognier and Syrah vines planted on the slopes leading up to the residence.
The master bedroom suite features a comfortable king bed, fireplace, walk-in closet, large soaking tub, dual sinks and shower heads in a spacious walk-in shower. The other three bedrooms (two with en suite bathrooms) each have three queen beds, and the office has one queen futon/sofa. A camping mattress, suitable for a child or two small children can be placed in the office if desired. The home can sleep ten adults comfortably, plus one child or two small children.
Outdoor amenities including a lounge area with pergola, dining table, gas grill and corn hole game with lights for evening play. Inside there is a large, fully equipped kitchen, living room and formal dining room with wine refrigerator. The game room has a pool table, dartboard, fireplace, and mini-fridge to keep your favorite beverages close at hand. The large family room with fireplace and sectional sofa provides ample room for watching the big game or your favorite Netflix/Amazon Prime shows.
The villa is located less than two miles from I-15, and ideally situated to visit the theme parks and attractions in San Diego, Riverside, Orange and Los Angeles counties. In the neighboring cities of Escondido, San Marcos and Vista, a wide range of wineries, breweries, restaurants, golf courses and other urban amenities can be reached within 20 minutes or less. The beach cities of Carlsbad, and Oceanside are 30 minutes away. A Welcome Notebook with suggestions for activities, restaurants and other attractions is left for our guests as well as our contact information. We want our guest to have an amazing experience at the Hilltop Hacienda in sunny southern California!

Information regarding the house rules. In order to ensure everyone has a safe and relaxing experience at the Hilltop Hacienda, we ask that our guests read and adhere to the following rules and notices:

Note: No Parties or Events: While we are happy to host guests celebrating their birthdays, anniversaries and holiday gatherings, events and large parties are not permitted. This home sleeps 10 adults and two children at a maximum. No other guests are allowed on the property unless pre-approved by the owners. This home and neighborhood are family friendly and this is not a party house. Please enjoy responsibly. Violations of house rules will result in a partial or full withholding of the security deposit and/or claim for damages.

Note: Music is allowed on the property but loud music carries downhill and over to our neighbors. Out of respect for them, we ask that guests keep the volume low enough to not disturb the neighbors and to turn the volume down to very low or off between 9pm and 9am.

Note: The swimming pool does not have a barrier and can be very dangerous to toddlers, small children, or anyone that can't swim. When renting our property, guests assume full responsibility for the safety of their loved ones. We ask our guests to communicate the need for everyone in the group to monitor and ensure that non-swimmers are not left unattended in or near the pool.

Note: The pool vacuum must stay in the pool at all times. It may not be removed or disconnected. Guests will be responsible for replacement if the vacuum is left unplugged or taken out of the pool.

Notes: For security purposes, a Ring camera located at the front door and four video cameras are mounted on the exterior of the residence as follows: One pointing towards driveway (top right corner of house), one pointing towards pool (left of BBQ under eve), one pointing towards RV pad (right of chimney), and one pointing towards the vineyard (above hot tub). The cameras are outward facing and do not look into the interior. While the cameras actively record video and sound at all times, we do not access the recordings unless there is a security or safety concern. There are no video cameras in the interior of the home.
Note: Yard maintenance, pest control and pool maintenance personnel routinely access the property. Please see the Welcome Notebook for dates and times.

Note: We may (infrequently) need to visit the vineyard and access our equipment in the garage while guests are staying. For example, we may need to make an adjustment to the irrigation in the event of a heatwave. We will inform our guests at the time of booking if we anticipate needing to make a brief visit during their stay so as not to interfere with their privacy.

Note: The pool is heated by a solar system and therefore less warm in winter. This year we will be experimenting with solar rings in an effort to increase the water temperature, but some guests may find that the pool is not warm enough to stay in for great lengths of time. However, previous guests have reported that their family members were happy to play in the pool in January, so this may not be an issue for you or your family. In any case, the hot tub is a hop, skip and jump away and most guests love to spend plenty of time soaking up the rays by the pool year round.

Note: By accepting this reservation, guests hold the owner harmless from any accidents or injury on the property, including any accidents or injuries occurring in the pool, hot tub, fireplaces, and grill or anywhere on the property.

- "Everything was perfect! The house is big enough for the 6 of us to have a space and still come together for dining and watching movies in the evening. The pool and outdoor patio area are great. We did not get to make as much use of them as we wanted, as the weather was not always sunny! When we were outside it was very comfortable and lots of space! The views of the surrounding countryside were fantastic from anywhere in the home! Loved, loved, loved all of the outside decks!!! Owners were very helpful and pleasant! Love to stay here again when in CA! Thanks for sharing your wonderful home with us."

The Welk resort is a 450 acre resort located just north of Escondido, California. The luxury time share villa can sleep up to 4 and is located directly on the golf course. I am entitled to one week a year, so please inquire about the week you are interested in, check in on a Friday. There is one bedroom with a king bed, and pull out couch bed and the option to have sleep away beds brought in. There is a fully appointed kitchen. There are 3 swimming pools, one of which is an adult only pool, tennis courts, two golf courses, a theater, restaurants, a work out room and family water park located at the Villas on the Green pool. It is directly off of I-15 and just north of highway 78 which give you access to all San Diego attractions. My family loves this resort because we can choose to stay put on the resort grounds and have plenty to keep us busy (or not if you just want to lay by the pool with your book) or choose to venture out for brewery tastings, a beach day, or a new restaurant in or around San Diego. It is very close to the wild animal park, Stone and many other breweries, and as little as 20 minutes from north county beaches. Many available dates, Please contact owner directly for availability.

- "We absolutely loved this resort! Four beautiful pools with water slides, kiddie pools, pickleball courts, fishing pond, arcades, axe throwing, and very family friendly grounds. Well stocked kitchenette and anything it didn’t have we asked the front desk for and they brought it! It’s also very close to the beach for boogie boarding (30 min), Sea World (40 min), and Knott’s Berry Farm (1 hr). My only complaint would be the cleanliness of our unit: there was sand in the shower, our folded towels stunk, and there was sand in our sheets as if they hadn’t changed them since the last guest. We called cleaning services and they brought new sheets and towels. But honestly even this downside I would book it again because we had such a fun time! Jason, the owner, was wonderful to work with and put me very at ease with a smooth transaction."

If you are seeking additional people to accommodate we also offer 3 additional villas on the other side of our property. We also over a 5 Bedroom, 4 bath Guest House, a 2 Bedroom Cottage with private jacuzzi and a 4 Bedroom, 3 bathroom Country House, totally 22 rooms on the estate. You can also book our event facilities separately that can accommodate weddings, corporate and organization retreats, family reunions, parties and pickleball socials and tournaments. We offer the flexibility of just booking the property for your event and bringing in your own vendors or using our staff to put together your event! A separate facility use charge applies to each booking that is separate from booking overnight accommodations. This facility use fee depends on the size of your event, the hours, how many villas you book for overnight accommodations, music arrangements, and if you are using your vendors. Rental of the facility includes the tables and chairs we have on site up to 150 people.
