We were in one of the top floor units, only minor complaint was the shared balcany lacked a bit of privacy with only a small partial wall. When I asked about checkout, I never got a response through the app or through texting. Then the cleaning crew showed up at 9 even though checkout wasn’t until 10 according to the booking. Everything else was amazing and I would stay again, but just be prepared to not communicate as though you are staying at a hotel."

- "Cathy great to work with but we got a less than ideal location with view of a street and stop sign. I asked that we be moved to a better location when we checked in but we were told that the resort was full, too bad so sad. I appreciated Cathy giving them a call but to no avail. Otherwise the Aviara is a knockout in stunning Carlsbad. I’m a bit nervous about booking in the future as I was told that owners will get priority locations. This may have been a one off unfortunate situation as owners we spoke with around the property said they really enjoy their residences. Overall a 4.5 but would have appreciated a better location for sure."

- "We loved the beach. Staying on the lower level right on the sand was the right choice for us. The beach is well used but not too crowded most days. The apartment is simple, clean, easy. Great location near the village center and walkable. Thanks!" - "The location directly on the beach is amazing and it is hard to get past that. However, there were some significant disappointments. First of all, I did not hear from the property management until 2 hours prior to check in even though I sent emails over 24 hours prior. Secondly, I would say that some of the descriptions were half-truths - for example, the listing says there is a washer. I would certainly think that this means there is a washer in the unit - this is not the case; there is a shared washer three floors up. I was also very disappointed when the property management called to ask if I wanted to pay for parking! This was certainly not mentioned in the listing and not only was there a charge for the parking but our SUV could not even fit in the spaces. For over $2,100 a night this seemed nickel and diming. I would also suggest that they upgrade the linens as they felt like very rough hospital sheets that were so uncomfortable, they were hard to sleep in. Finally, if you go on other sites you will see that HVAC issues are consistently mentioned - we too had problems and it was not till the second day that the issues were resolved. It would be nice to have some instructions in the unit on how to operate the systems, where the trash goes etc. Again, a phenomenal location, although the unit is directly adjacent to a public stairway that provides access to the beach but there is no lock on the gate access to the units that made us slightly uncomfortable."
